Family-friendly chain for seafood & American fare served in a fishing-boat-themed setting.
Like....... I have no words for how gross the table, seats, and menus were..... The drink menu looked , felt, and smelled like it hadnt been cleaned ONCE SINCE PRE-C19.... The vibe was immaculate if you can deal with talking over birthday clapping every 10 minutes lol. And the service was supreme. But..... Like.... For the love of all things CLEAN AFTER EACH GUEST.
I have to be completely honest. This was AWFUL!!!! our server was great, don’t get me wrong. But the food? LITERALLY THE WORST THING IVE EVER EATEN. And I was super bummed!! We paid over $100 for appetizer , one drink, and two entrees, which wouldn’t be bad for quality food! However this WASNT. My steak was almost entirely fat. And not melt in your mouth fat but gristly tough fat. Would never eat here again
I came here 5 years ago and it was the shizz!! Now it has gone downhill. The seafood is kind of a joke, I can not tell you how many times I receive overcooked shrimp and crab. The only time I can get properly cooked shrimp or snow crab is when I am at home, crab and shrimp should only take max 5 minutes when the water is boiling. Let me tell you these shrimps were as hard as a rock!! If they are gonna charge 37.99 for a crab and shrimp bucket, I would like to receive a full half rack of legs not missing two legs per half rack. And a full half pound of shrimp not a skimpy half of a half pound of shrimp. I got the spinach dip and why would you put cold tomatoes on a luck warm spinach dip? But both our serves were pretty could dudes! Schmitty was our server and then he had to leave. Overall a pretty big disappointment but the manager was nice and removed the spinach dip from our check, I will give him the credit for that!!! But I even talked highly about it to my wife. Do not even get me started with her!!
We went to Bubba Gump at CityWalk last night. We werent very hungry, so we ordered appetizers and dessert. The server was nice at first and towards the middle, she got an attitude with us because they brought us fried shrimp which we didnt order., so I asked why we got the shrimp. She didnt say sorry about that or something, I just wanted to make sure they didnt charge us. She took the shrimp back after we already touched it,I think we could have kept it since it was given to us by mistake. Whats the big deal?Anyway, Im sure they just threw them away , a waste of food. From appetizers and desserts we payed $72 which is overpriced. We normally like it there so it was disappointing.
Service was good and attentive. The plating was attractive, and I got a free glass with my drink. So, that was good. Now for the bad: Getting a dessert to go was really slow. The food was just... meh. It was edible, but disappointing after hearing good things about it. How does one overcook shrimp? How does a key lime pie not even taste like lime??If youre in the Universal City Walk area, there are so many other neat choices. I would probably recommend trying somewhere else.
A familiar spot for shrimp lovers.Conveniently located in Universal City.
Plays off the movie well, enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks. Our server did great. The food wasnt good, the shrimp were over cooked for mine they werent cooked in the spices. Wife shrimp cocktail was bordering on rubbery. Wife had a key lime pie that had no real flavor. We over heard several tables around us having issues. Wouldnt try it again, this was our first time trying them.
We have been to the Long Beach location (which was great), however, the service at the City Walk location (Universal Studiosis terrible. Once we were seated, it took a server 30 mins before they even bothered to take our order or ask if we wanted water. I had to flag down a buss boy to get him to ask a sever to take our order. Ridiculous!!! Plenty of employees walking around, but when confronted, everyone claimed they werent servers. Bottom line, this location needs better staffing.
Great experience, super friendly service. Food quality could be improved. They have a theme store with cool items.Brings back memories of the Forest Gump movie
I the salmon with mashed potatoes and hush pups. Great customer service. The glaze on the salmon was good but due to the lack of seasoning and it being slightly overcooked, it needed a lot more glaze. The hush pups are too sweet, the mashed potatoes are edible but not desirable. Great for nostalgia but not for dining.
Very good customer service great food very delicious. A place that you need to try when youre at CityWalk and you love shrimp.
🦐Fun, Themed Restaurant with Friendly Service🦐This restaurant is downright photographable! If youre a Forest Gump fan, theres plenty of memorabilia to take home, subtle (and not-so-subtlenods to enjoy, and inspired dishes to taste.I ate here in 2020 and had a great experience. The service is super friendly and treats you like family. Although attentive, its also hands-off, giving you plenty of room to breathe while you dine. The coaster on your table allows you to signal whether you need service to stop by or not. I couldnt believe the excellent memory our waitress had. I went with a group of four, and she nailed every last detail of our order without so much as writing it down!My salmon dish satisfied my taste buds, arriving on a beautifully homey platter. The portion size didnt quite fill me up, but thats the only complaint I can leverage at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.I highly recommend reserving ahead of time if you can, as the line gets out the door, especially toward dinner hours.
Its an experience but sadly not that much as in San Francisco. You recognize that its a Mass processing there. We havent even asked for the bill and thought about buying a dessert. But they came with the bill instant after we finished our food. You can really enjoy it there that much.
The food and the service is great here. The movie theme makes the experience fun. I wish there was more of a variety in the way the seafood is prepared. Theres a lot of fried food on their menu. Other than that no complaints.
Decent meal prices. Tasty food. Getting seated was a hassle. Half of the tables outside were empty, but the person at the counter said we were to be put on a wait-list for 20mins. Why have a wait-list when the restaurant is empty?? Finally we sat by ourselves, and someone attended to us. The whole experience took over 2hrs.
If you’re looking for something super similar to Red Lobster or even just a chain seafood moderately priced restaurant, this is it. Great servers and timely. Tourist prices for sure and nothing too crazy special, but does the trick for seafood and not a super long wait.
We had a really great Waitress, she moved us when we had really rude families besides my table. And she made sure our food was fresh and our service enjoyable. Thank you for all you did!
Thought wed try as seen lots of these in US & the menu looks good.Had the fish & Chips, the Shrimp New Orleans & a kids meal.We had to complain about the fish & chips as it was all batter, tiny strips of fish in each portion. It was served as 3 fish strips rather than 1 fillet. But was all batter. I would avoid the fish & chips. The Shrimp New Orleans was tasty but a small portion, tiny by US standards. With a small piece of garlic bread. The kids meal was incredibly small & basic & didnt come with the boat we saw other kids with. Side salad was bigger than the main dish.Service was poor, when we were showed to our table the waiter said nothing, pointed & walked off.We asked for the fish & chips to be removed & it was, which was good. & they did apologise.
Decent food but a bit expensive for what you get. The coconut fried shrimp was crispy and had a ton of coconut on it. The chutney went well with it.The salmon was ok. A bit overcooked but the mashed potatoes were pretty damn good. Definitely a cut above what you can get in Universal Studios.
Great experience. My party had a reservation for 6:30 but got seated abit early which was great. Good time to go before everybody from everywhere came. I celebrated my birthday and our waiter Robbie and I think the others name was Colton were absolutely amazing. Thanks Robbie for being so amazing, they are lucky to have you. You are an example of how people who chose to serve give service not just in food, but attitude and charisma.
Located right outside Universal Studios, its basically the same as any other location, other than it serves guests from Universal Studios and probably no one else. The wait can be oddly long for a half empty restaurant, but the service was excellent on my visit with a fantastic and helpful waiter. The food was fine and as expected. Not a bad choice if you want tk eat before you leave the park grounds.
Its affordable,Tasty, what else could you want?Service was great and quick, we got told service was going to take an hour it took 30 minutes. The strawberry shortcake is a must try for anyone who likes a good strawberry shortcake.9.5/10
Our party had a variety of dishes but the standout was the Mahi Mahi & Shrimp, and the Dans surf n turf. Everything was extra flavorful and they got the big prawns on the sides for grilling. A little pricey, but that was expected being in Universal Studios. The decor was on-point, and a must-visit if youve seen Forrest Gump.
We have always had a good experience with this location until last evening. My daughter and I ordered the "burger and fries" and it took an extremely long time to receive our food. When our dinner finally arrived, they only gave us a child size serving of fries and the burger wasnt cooked or prepared as ordered. I spoke with the manager and she stated "Bubba Gump has changed their serving portions so some things have gotten larger and other things have reduced in size"(vague much). I explained that we were there last month and things were very different(no response). When I highlighted that our food wasnt as ordered, she didnt offer any replacement or solution... she appeared as if she couldnt be bothered and was focused on closing the restaurant for the evening(zero empathy). When we received the bill for dinner, she didnt give us a discount or anything even after our conversation expressing how displeased we were. Naturally, we paid the bill and left feeling S.O.L.Unfortunately, this experience has left a lasting impression so we will never return and we will definitely share our experience with everyone that we know.
We have been here before, few years back. Very disappointed with the food. I had fish and chips, more breading than fish.I had a margarita with a $4 grand marnier shot on the side. The margarita without the shot seemed to be just frozen lime with no alcohol, my opinion. I added the shot and that didn’t do it justice so I ordered another shot, $14 for that. Plus the $4 plus the margarita. I was then charged for a souvenir cup which I didn’t ask for.Waitress was good, attentive, food and drinks, not good. Goodbye to Bubba Gump.
The pasta was good....got the food fast....only had to wait for a table for 20 minutes the waitress was attentive....service was great
The atmosphere was fun 🤩 props from the movie 🎥 all around the restaurant, our server James was awesome very helpful the only thing that I didn’t like were the adult drinks 🍹 didn’t even catch a buzz with one had to add an extra shot besides that the food was great try the coconut 🥥 shrimp🍤
The service was great, the lines werent too long. Our server was Andrea, and she was amazing!! The Mac and cheese with shrimp was an 9/10. The vibe was great and the seats were great! 🤩
On the fence about this one unfortunately. Service was a little slow even though plenty of tables were open. Shrimp basket was 5.5 out of 10. The Salmon dish was a solid 8 of 10. Staff was friendly but nothing above and beyond. Its easy to get lost in the nostalgic vibe but Overall, I feel like we over paid for decent food. Not sure Forest would have been as thrill on this visit here as he was for Ice Cream!
We come to this location in City Walk at least once a year or try to for the last 10+ years and it was been great every single time! Pricing is moderate and the food is excellent! Atmosphere and service is 5 stars! Who doesnt LOVE Forest Gump!! :)
Great food great ambiance great time had here. Had the jambalaya which was spicy but not too much and it was awesome. Got the cheesecake which was wow and the drinks were cool too. Had a great time. Would come again.
problem $30 universal CityWalk parking! Way too much for parking. Should have validation. And also a wait to get on waitlist. They must be very short staffed. Although food was delicious! I ordered the cajun crab boil for two $70. Came with peel n eat shrimp, snow crab legs, andouille sausage, corn, potatoes, and garlic bread! Man oh man that garlic bread is addictive! We ordered another separate from the boil $5.99. We also had a cup of clam chowder $6.99...again delicious! And before we ate we had a little alcoholic drink (about $16). We tried the jalapeno mango margarita. The alcohol was very smooth but you can still tell its in there. Great drink! And it came with a take home souvenir cup says bubba gump on it. I will come back again, theres so much to try there and everything looks so good. So overall my bill was at $135 or so and plus the $30 general parking. I spent about $175 for two people
Our dining experience exceeded all our expectations. From the manager meeting us personally to the vivacious server to the tasty and fresh fish dinners and looking at all of the authentic Forest Gump movie props; our whole experience was outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant located at the Universal City Walk.
We came here to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday. Our waiter, Dylan, was awesome!!!! He played a game of Forrest Gump trivia with us and made sure we were taken care of. The food was excellent and the service was great!
Took my son here for his birthday dinner, we have visited locations in Chicago, Orlando, San Francisco, and now in LA, the food was delicious, but the appetizer calamari was dry, like it was pre made and sat under a warming lamp.
Wow, this is my favorite restaurant when comes to eating good flavored deep frying proteins! Even though we had to wait 45 mins to be seated, our food came out about 10-15 mins. The staff was excellent and friendly!
Great food. Sadly many items have left the menu. Also the trivia questions that sometimes were fun left as well.
My recent favorite is the Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi which comes with shrimp. Its not too spicy. Comes with pretty fried sweet potato shavings. Also, if you would like a side salad with the entre, its now offered on the menu--you might have to look hard for it (by the chowder option I think).
I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. The Shirley Temple was delicious and the staff was nice. I should of ordered more food. We were still hungry when we left.
Service was excellent, however the food was cold. The drinks were fantastic though and our server looked and talked like Kid Cudi, which my wife loved 😆
This was our first time eating out in almost 1yrs and it was an amazing experience. Our waitress was amazing she walked us through from beginning to end. She had amazing customer service. Very tentative and checked on us often. I recommend anyone to come here you wont regret it. Thanks to our waitress we will be coming back soon.
The kid liked the "Popcorn Shrimp". My SO did not like the tiny fried calamari. I had a shrimp "Cajun" dish that was really dry, some kind of weird sweet gelatin sauce with rice, like cooked the night before and reheated at 11:45 am dry shrimp. When we went back into Universal Studios, I began breaking out with what seemed like itchy mosquito bites around my neck and arms. Im not allergic to shrimp. In fact I had fresh shrimp teppanyaki 2 weeks prior with no issues whatsoever. Ive also eaten at other Bubba Gump locations, Maui, Hawaii, etc. Ive never had this kind of reaction before, very strange. The itching and rash subsided within 4 hours. It freaked out my SO, she wanted me to go to the med station in the park, I was ok. On the plus side, the beer was cold, and the service was friendly. So, thanks but no thanks to any future visits Bubba Gumps.
Food and service was excellent. Highly recommended. I ordered the surf and surf and it was cooked perfectly.
When we first got seated , no one came to us for about 10 mins & we had to flag someone down, but Overall everything was good. The clam chowder was delicious and flavorful . & I ordered the salmon & shrimp ! It was good as well! The shrimp were cold though but still good.
We always enjoy dining in at Bubba Gump Shrimp. They provide excellent service and the food is full of flavor. The presentation of their drinks makes you want more! We will be back of course. My fiancé’s only complaint is the fact that the don’t serve Dr. Pepper lol
First time at a Bubba Gump restaurant. We made reservations so our wait was not long. Our hostess sat us quickly for a table of 7. I tried the Shrimp Scampi, it was seasoned just right, and pasta was cooked perfect. My husband tried the ribs and really enjoyed it! Overall the experience was pleasant, atmosphere was quirky fun, and enjoyed the memorabilia from the movie. Definitely plan on visiting the restaurant again.
Staff was friendly but so slow, including the kitchen staff. My sons kids meal came out a whole half hour after our entree. They have these signs you can flip on your table to indicate that you need service, but it doesnt help if they dont come by. Food itself was just okay, about what youd expect from a chain restaurant in a tourist trap.
So much fun!!!!🤩This place is very pleasant. On Sundays is very busy. You need to go to the concierge to make your reservation. I waited 15 minutes. Not bad!!!🍤🍤The food is very good. I love Shrimp 🦐BUBBA GUMP is a nice place to eat seafood, specially shrimp! I love the movie 🎥 🍿 Tom Hanks, Forrest GUMP, 1994.The only thing I did not like was the appetizers - The calamari was dry and tasted like flour. Could be much better🙁🤵🏿♂️Nice waiter, polite and friendly.🍽The dishes was good a presentation! My friend and I had a nice blueberry lemonade and sweet tea. I never had a blueberry lemonade before and surprisingly was very good 😊🚽 Bathroom was very clean - no lines 🧼D. Plus - it’s a nice place to go on Sunday after Church, you can enjoy family. Good to kids and you can go around the Universal Studios Walk City 🏙 🐵. Good coffee shops! ☕️📸 Very good to take pictures to Instagram, etc…💸Billing - around $80-100 dollars.
Our party of three went out to City Walk just to spend the day out of the house. We originally wanted to done at Samba but it was permanently closed. We then noticed that the Bubba Gump didnt have a long wait so we decided to dine here. Our server Mikey was awesome and made the experience very enjoyable. Lots of fun Forrest Gump trivia and some delicious food and drinks. We each ordered a Georgia Peach Iced Tea and a cup of iced water. We also shared an appetizer of "Shrimper’s Net Catch" with half garlic butter and half Cajun seasoning. We had the following dishes:- Forrest’s Seafood Feast- Shrimper’s Heaven- Dumb Luck Coconut ShrimpOur bill was $156.16 before gratuity.
Bubba Gump has always been a must go to eat when at Universal city walk. Now with the pandemic definitely changed many things. We were celebrating my Godson birthday with a party of 8 and had to sit 2 separate tables of 6 & 2 after a 2 hour wait. We sat outside of course and it was cold. Roland the waiter had no etiquette the worst customer service One hour later it was nice went they turn on the outside heaters. Woo after we were ignorer Danny the manager served our food and drinks . My food dry hard pasta and shrimp over cooked. Oh yeah Definitely not returning.
