Local history & education center with cultural exhibits & a 1,700-square-foot model railroad.
Nice old pictures and maps of the town and railroad and great model train on the third floor.
Fantastic detailed train diorama of the region and a good detailed history of the canal
Weve lived in Brunswick for over six years but never visited this place till now. I thought this would be a very small exhibit but its bigger and more impressive than anticipated - lots of photos and artifacts of Brunswicks history and an impressive and long model of the train route to Union Station. A definite must place to visit for anyone living in Brunswick or for anyone visiting the area.
Kids always enjoy the model layout on top floor. They always ask questions while walking around the historical items.
Wonderful museum with lots of history and photographs. The mini train exhibit is wonderful and fun for kids. Lots of buttons to press for sounds and the kids have to find Terry the Taradactal while exploring mini train exhibit. Fun fact Patsy Cline sang in this building back when it was a speak easy/club. The third floor still has the original stage where she performed before making it big.
Great museum. Super friendly volunteers. Head straight to the 3rd floor for an epic guide-led tour of railroad circa the 1960s! Be sure to try all the little red buttons.
Well maintained cute huge toy train collection. The second floor exhibit is not to be missed. Appreciate the efforts of everyone running this museum. My 4 year old loved it
The trains are so cool to look at showing the scene of the whole town of Brunswick.
So many interesting and historical things to look at.
I love this place. So many interesting and historical things to look at. The trains are so cool to look at showing the scene of the whole town of Brunswick. Great for kids!
Eh
James is a great host as always!
Great look back in our past! Artifacts, pictures, and stories! Loved the mini train garden that shows some different towns along the trails from Union Station to Brunswick and on. . . Loved it!
Beautiful tour and many artifacts!
Very informative and the train display on the third floor is awesome!
Excellent place! 3rd floor train room is a must see!!
A lot of interesting artifacts and the model train on the third floors is great.
The third floor the real draw. It is a fun place for children and it is on par with a place in Lancaster I had to pay to get in. I would love to again. The architecture on the inside out fun too.
Cool little historical place. We went because our boys love model trains. Very helpful staff
Had a great experience here with everyone. The staff was very knowledgeable of the building and area. I asked about some more details and when they were not completely sure they actually went into old books and found answers for me. Also Me and my spouse spent an evening here with The Ghost Pit and got to experience Paranormal activities that I thought I would not experience. Please look into both if your looking for a great experience and a night with scares and great people! We will definitely visit again! Thank you all for a great time!
I learned a lot about Brunswick Md and the C & O canal. They also have a huge HO train layout on the third floor.
This place is amazing! Especially the train garden on the 3rd floor. A must see!
Great place to stop by. Will be coming back, too much tonsee in only 1 hour. Helpful and friendly staff and scale toy train setup.
This is great whether you are a train fanatic or not! So much history!
Nice little free museum with 3 floors. Lots of interesting exhibits and the third floor has a giant HO scale layout that encompasses nearly the entire floor.
Great small town museum! Very friendly staff, nice variety of artifacts, plus a cool train layout on the top floor...plus an NPS unit attached to it!
Lovely little museum with a good deal of historic detail. The train model is totally awe-inspiring. I was amazed to see my current city and nearby towns in a miniature form with a birds eye view! A must visit if youre visiting Harpers Ferry, Brunswick or Frederick.
Very friendly and knowledgeable
An exciting journey through history of a quaint town called Brunswick, Maryland. It has a cozy atmosphere all around town. I must address the warm welcome one is given through out the town and in all the shops.
Good layout of Band O railroad

A fun little museum with lots of local charm. No AC.
This establishment is full of history and stories of the past. The staff and volunteers take great pride in sharing this history with everyone who comes through the door and treats everyone like family.
Lot of time and work went into this museum with the different items on different levels all arranged in a way that is a great learning experience.Loved looking at all the pictures from c&o , the railroad, and even the town itself. The model railroad on the third floor took a lot of time consuming work .Each town it went through was a unique experience and had its own little tidbits to find.Whether it be a baseball game, a fire , hunters, hobos on trains, dog peeing on a hydrant, or a cow loose in the fields .I wanted to revisit to see what I missed the first walk through. What can you find?
Very interesting
Very nice people and lots of history to see, and really great H O Gauge layout on the top floor
What a beautiful little hidden gem in downtown Brunswick!
Brunswick is a great small town to visit on a day trip. Stop by beans in the belfrey for some coffee or gourmet sandwich. If you enjoy the outdoors even better. Definitely rent a bike and spend some time riding the C&O path into Harpers Ferry. Then come back and see the heritage museum. A fun day with the family.
I liked the train display
Unfortunately the Brunswick Heritage Museum was closed during Jan & Feb - but no notification was posted on their website. The C&O Canal Museum and museum store were open.
It is a great history of Brunswick. Trains and canal and what life in a train town is like. Beautifully done dioramas and the huge model railroad that takes up the whole third floor is not to be missed. The staff can tell you all about the town. We even took the ghost tour walk around town that night. Kids will enjoy it there are period games to try on the first floor and there is examples of kids life in the museum. The train has interactive buttons for the kids to press.
Very nice displays here. Incredible full room working train diorama on the 3rd floor. Great place to visit especially if youre a train buff!
Free musuem (but give them a donation). Took my 3 year old there and he had a blast watching the model trains. Great local history. The building itself (old social Hall / club is cool itself. Put a quarter in the meter and get a coffee or slice of pizza too.
A true gem in Brunswick! The model trains are awe inspiring. I enjoyed finding hidden figures throughout the 81 mile stretch from Harpers Ferry to Washington, DCs Union Station.
Great place to take the kids. Everyone is so knowledgeable.
Brunswick Heritage Museum is one of my sons favorite places. The city of Brunswick was essentially built on two things: the C&O Canal and railroads, and both are celebrated here. The first floor is split between the lobby/gift shop of the Brunswick Heritage Museum and and a small interpretive display operated by the National Park Service showcasing the history and influence of the C&O Canal. Behind the desk of the Museum, down the hall, is a small train-themed childrens room. The second floor, accessible by either stairs or elevator, represents life in Brunswick from the early 1900s. If you take the stairs, youll meet a giant wooden cigar store Indian, who represents the buildings history as the former headquarters of the local chapter of the fraternal organization Improved Order of Red Men. Finally on the third floor is a huge HO scale model train layout representing the B&O Railroads Metropolitan Line between Washington DCs Union Station and the Brunswick Rail Yard, which is still active. Guests can get a birds-eye view of the rail yard from the third floor. Signs above different spots along the display name each location and its real life distance from Union Station, and many of the buildings in the layout still exist along the actual line. As of this writing (February 2017), an extension is under construction on the layout, marking the leg between Brunswick and the Harpers Ferry Tunnel. The one thing that, in my opinion, keeps Brunswick Heritage Museum from earning a 5 star rating is that the third floor tends to get extremely hot during the summer.
This museum was a lot more than what I had expected. The exhibits were very interesting and the third floor model train layout is great for adults, but especially young kids. The staff was also very friendly (:
Microsoft play i love
