If youre coming to this restaurant to experience Coimbra, then leave. Now. It is like stepping into an Archie and Veronica comic strip...colorful, fun, bustling. An amazing experience for the younger crowd as well as us old timers. The kids loved it.The waitresses could work on their attitude and manners as well as higiene, but that was the only fault we found with this otherwise flawless venue.

Originally I would have given this place 3 stars, however that changed after I got to the cashier to pay. The food is just McDonald’s but worse, however the atmosphere is great and the people serving, polite. In any case. When we tried to pay, the lady gave us a POS that I quote “doesn’t accept international cards”. That part was true apparently as I couldn’t pay with any of my cards (both Mastercard and visa). So “normally” the lady had me walk around to try and find an ATM to withdraw cash. When I got back and paid with cash I noticed that they had a second POS now….! The one they gave me to try and pay originally had a label MB or MP, that is apparently a Portugal or local type of payment (you can Google it), while the second POS that magically appeared had a label of the bank the lady sent me to withdraw cash. No need to explain further.

Very annoying experience using slow software to electronically select the meal with some products without pictures.Not very friendly staff. Very loud music!Food arrived item per item, and when the last one arrived the first was already cold and had to be exchanged.Overall *not* a good experience.

Really nice atmosphere, massive portions, the only downside is there is only one chicken burger option and its really greasy, it be nice to have a real chicken fillet. Every one else really enjoyed their beef burgers. Overall a really enjoyable and fun meal.

Ordered mixed grill.Came out cold so asked for it to be heated up.Staff did so reluctantly.Food came out again. This time was burning my mouth. All of the meat was tough so far as I couldnt eat it.Would have needed a chainsaw to cut through it.Walked out after paying for the worst food.Only good thing about this place is the decor.

Excelent space, very well decorated. The food is ok, but we waited 40min for a burguer! Thats why it doesnt get 5 star.

Really awful. The veggie burger was half the size of the roll. The burger was cold and the lettuce wet. My husband ordered chicken and avocado salad and they brought a wrap. He sent it back and he then got a salad without avocado. All they did was keep saying sorry 😐

Nice environment and the ordering system is automated. The food is nice, but too much fried options. It would be nice to have more healthy options.

This place is decorated like a retro American diner with lots of old-time posters and several statues of American icons. Music from the 60s to the 90s plays continuously. If you sit in one of the booths (some of the booths look like old-style American cars), your server gives you a card which you scan into a monitor and you can order all of your food with the touch screen. The menu has lots of American-style food: many different kinds of hamburgers (one of them towers about 30 cm!), lots of yummy appetizers, French fries, onion rings, nachos, etc., milk shakes, floats, and other beverages. They also serve some Portuguese food, different francisinhas, biteques, and others. I love francisinhas, so I ordered the American one. It was huge and delicious! My wife ordered the nachos and she said they were the best shes had in Portugal. My son ordered the Washington hamburger. It was almost as tall as the Washington monument! He couldnt eat it all, so we got a box to take home. Each meal cost around 8 to 9 euros. With drinks, appetizers, and one milk shake, we paid about 42 euros for the 3 of us. When youre done, you take your card that you used to order with and go to the cashier to pay. Its an excellent experience!

A nice place! The decoration is cool and we were able to find a nice vegetarian meal and fresh salad. The waiter was helpful and very kind to us :)

As an American, I did not want to seek out American food. However, after a few months in Coimbra, I finally tried Brunns on UberEats bc of a discount. It is a favorite now. We have ordered now 7 times in the last 3 months and each time the food is high quality and reliably tasty. Chicken strips are simple yet tasty. The meat is breast and its not at all like a compressed foam nugget. Kids wrap is the new favorite - its a chicken strip with lettuce and tomato in a tortilla wrap. It comes with fries and a juice box for 5,90. we did not like the BLT bc bacon in PT is not Americans style bacon. the desserts, Cookie, Brownie, Donut are ok price - maybe if you were eating there in person with a friend it would be GREAT. I dont know that the burgers are "American" style. they are ok. The first time I ordered the Steak &Fries and it was perfect. LARGE portion but its 9,55 which is high. The hot dog is not American. its more like a kielbasa or sausage. I tried the francesina and ugh I ate only 2-3 bites. I hated to throw it away but the smell was so bad. I never tried Francesina before. Overall, Brunns thru Ubereats is fast delivery and consistently good, even the next day it can be reheated and good for another meal. Sometimes restaurants are good in person but terrible when delivered. not the case with Brunns.

Its okay. Portugal is not renowned for burgers, keep your expectations low.

Great place to have a meal. Its beautiful inside with signs, neon signs and you really feel like you went back in time. The food is very affordable and delicious!

We were about to leave the restaurant after sitting for 30 minutes without being served. I think Ive never ate a worse hot dog in my life. The quality of the products is terrible and the service is horrible. The best thing about the restaurant is not to go in.

My friend ate a burguer and it was amazing. I asked a cappuccino and was horrible with loads of cinnamon. I complaint and they brought a new, however, it was very very bad. Do not recommend the hot drinks.

Great place for a large and tasty meal. Plus, the decor makes you feel like you are in America coz it has all the right memorabilia. Would recommend for sure!

Pretty good place with some good outside dining. The food was pretty good, but the staff were hard to get the attention of.

When we got there, during the lockdown, the waiter talked really harshly to us saying we couldnt be inside of the restaurant, without any information about it posted at the door.When we asked for a menu, he went looking for a tablet and it turns out the tablet was that he could tap out what we were ordering, not for us to see what they offered at the restaurant.Afterwards, we waited little for the food, it was really quick!I only had the Oreo Milkshake that was really good!

The decor is amazing! The service was lacking on a slow day. The burger was not good meat at all. The bun was really really dry. The burger meat is firm and uses low quality meat. Probably a blend of pork and cow to save money. Decor is amazing. Skip the food and go for the atmospheres

Good food, but the guy working there seemed to be a bit rude with us. Right after he gave us out meals he came quickly and aggressively back and demanded that we had to pay right away while we were eating.

I wonder if the people who gave five stars to this restaurant actually ate there. I am not a good cook, but I am pretty sure a lot of people do better in their own kitchens..We were two, two with the same opinion (different orders), and the same difficulty to DIGEST...

Good place. The decoration and music are amazing! The lemonades and ice creams as well, but the order is made through a tablet in each table and they are really slow and the process is kind of painful. The music was loud as well and having a conversation was not easy. Besides that I recommend the place!

Brunns Coffee Diner (aka Restaurante Americano ??)Five go mad in Brunns for New Years eve. 2 Brits, 1 American, 1 Brit/Canadian, and 1 Brit/American. If you have ever been to an American "50s diner" restaurant, this place will not disappoint in terms of decor. They have the car made into a booth, a couple of motorcycles, and all of the usual cliches hanging on the wall.Front of house is a bar, mid section is the "non-smoking" area, and at the back behind a glass wall there is the smoking section. Please note, this glass wall does not work, smoke from the smoking section drifts into the "non-smoking" section, and you will get all the second-hand smoke you can choke down, and come home smelling like it.Assuming you didnt go there for the smoke, then you might be there for the food. This is a mixed bag ... the sweet potato fries and burgers were a hit, they even had enough veggie options to keep the vegetarians in our group happy. My "burrito" was a little unusual, it came as a chill-con-carne blob wrapped in a tortilla, not a bad taste, but not a burrito. It was accompanied by good guacamole, reasonable salsa, and some chips. Prices for entrees and burgers are in the €6-8 range but do not come with fries (€1.50 extra).Drinks were usual Portuguese selection plus a few foreign choices in cans and bottles, included Guinness @ €2/can.They also have a nice selection of milkshakes and deserts, and a few Portuguese dished like Fracesinhas. A good selection of 80s music will keep most expats pretty happy. Ordering is via a touchscreen that is in the table - kinda nice if you do not speak Portuguese, but the touchscreen was erratic and slowed down ordering.Overall a good (not greatexperience, perhaps a little more expensive than other local options since you are paying for the Americana, but marred by the smoke with nothing else to impress.

Funny setting. Had the cocktails and they were way too sweet for me, but i guess they normally serve a younger student crowd.

A great place to relive the 50s. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious, its " finger licking good!" By the way, you can even take a picture with Elvis. Its an amazing place to visit in Coimbra.

Excelent environment but the staff can take a while to bring the food. You also order from a tablet by the tables and they need to be updated or formatte. The crowd is usually university students.

Arrived at ~15:45. Asked if kitchen was open. Was told yes, until midnight. Chose a table. Menu said savings menus available until 17:00. Waiter comes at ~16:01. We choose the savings menu. Waiter says not available anymore. We ask how come, we arrived at ~15:45. He says its past 16 already. We point to the menu where it says available until 17. He says its wrong. We order other stuff from the menu including a salad. He says that salad is not available. We point to the menu. He says its outdated. He teaches us how to use table terminal to order. We choose what we want. Before ordering, we try to change 2 orders of French fries to 1. Cant. Must start all over from scratch. We finally order and explain the waiter we want one one burger with salad instead of bread. He says no problem. He later comes with the food. After we start eating, he returns and says they must charge extra for the salad. We finish eating and wait for waiter. He doesnt come. We tell him we want to pay. He says hes off his shift, must talk to coworker. We talk to coworker. He says we must pay at counter/desk. We try to pay with local Mastercard. They refuse. Had to use Multibanco.

I might have to try the rest of the burgers, but Im not pleased so far with the ones Ive tried.The decor is great. You submit your order yourself through a touchscreen in your table, which is cool.The service is just ok. They only take Portuguese cards

Was there several times and had several good burgers, either with meat or vegetarian ones:and the atmospheres is convincing :).Truly loved the atmosphere the burgers and the waitresses. Will definitely return.Very nice vintage American style restaurant, with reasonable prices. The food is delicious. Very popular place with the Erasmus crowd.

This is to me a place that we need to vist if you go to Coimbra. Well located on the old city area. This restaurant is a trip to USA in the 80s. The decoration is just amazing and the staff is very nice and helpful. The burguers are also good, but I must admit that they arent the best I tasted, but even though is a place to return on my next visit to Coimbra.

Burgers are good although ordering is a pain.They have embedded tablets on each table with some software to take the orders. The UI is appalling, and works just enough so its usable.They seriously need to consider going back to taking order on pen and paper or redesigning the app.

Excellent ambient, I like the fact that it is a theme bar and the special food and drinks. However, the ordering tablet devices are in need of upgrade or replacement because they are not what someone would call responsive.

Awesome place. Outstanding dinner atmosphere (looks even better than the one in Pulp Fiction), they thought about every small detail. The hamburger was great too. There is a not-very-convenient tablet ordering system with no English translation, which makes it a bit slow and annoying to pick what you like, but other than that it was agreat experience.

Popular with students as the menu has good variety. Uber American 50s diner with Cadillac booths. Think Jack Rabbit Slims. Food is good and hearty and wont break the bank. Electronic ordering is hit and miss. Milkshakes are sublime.
