All-day British chain brasserie and bar with lobster nights and afternoon tea in grand cafe setting.
First time here excellent service from Ryan will definitely be revisiting food also was very good
Absolutley fantastic …service was great.. food to die for…my crab starter and sea bass main course was delicious…..my partner and grandsons steaks was superb..cooked as requested…cocktails WOW , loved them…. Decor and atmosphere added to the enjoyment … Highly recommended
We were a party of 13 and everyone enjoyed the meal and service.it was however not made clear that the service charge was optional.
Visiting Nottingham to take part in a television documentary to be screened on the Discovery channel about the case of Stefan Kiszko, wrongly convicted in 1976 of murder, and Ronald Castree, who was the actual killer. of a little girl. I wrote a book, Delusions of Innocence, about that case.
Fabulous experience, wonderful customer service. Charlotte, our waitress does an amazing job, she’s very much a ‘people person’ and did everything in her power to give us an enjoyable experience, please pass on our sincere thanks.
We went here for afternoon tea.Unfortunately, their website only allows you to book a table, and not say what you are coming for. This meant that we were given evening meal menus and a too small table. This was sorted, and we told them what teas we wanted. Unfortunately, the only leaf tea that they had available was Earl Gray. They had no supplies if the leaf English Breakfast Tea.The tea was a little slow in arriving, and we had all finished it before the sandwiches, cakes & scones arrived. It was at this stage that the waitress realised that it wouldnt fit on our table and we had to move. The quality of the tea (food & drinkwas excellent. The quantity was just right, and the mix of flavours perfect. My only other comment was that we asked for water and were not given the option of tap or bottled. We only noticed later that most of the other tables had carafes of tap water on them, with lemon. We were given plenty of time, the staff were very attentive and the afternoon tea was wonderful. When we got the bill, I was surprised to see that a 20% Service Charge had been added.I would certainly recommend Browns for Afternoon Tea.
I thought the revamp might also apply to the food but alas, more disappointment. We ordered various starters for lunch as there were no light bites on the menu. The mushrooms had not been cooked as described - they were dry, had no flavour and were served on a dry toasted piece of sourdough. The goats cheese in the salad was a mere garnish to big lumps of beetroot. No drizzle or dressing - again was very dry and bland. The camembert was luke warm so not suitable for dipping but it was still the best part of the disappointing meal. We werent asked by the waiter if everything is ok so we just suffered in silence. In the end they didnt charge for the mushrooms and acknowledged there isnt much goats cheese in the salad! Would much rather pay full price and get what they promise. More fool me for being sucked in by the revamp.
I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Browns. If youre after quality food and drink and a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere then look no further!
Delicious 2 course lunch and very reasonably priced. I had soup of the day, carrot and coriander, followed with chicken and leak pie
Beautiful food, very warm atmosphere nice friendly staff.
For the second time in ten days enjoyed a very nice three course lunch from the main menu. The first course of smoked salmon was very , very minimal . Not good for the price they charge but otherwise a pleasant dining experience . I have to say that I believe their managers need slightly more training in customer relations . Today I waited some time at reception to check in for my reservation , was ignored by several waiters who passed ,gave up and went to the bar . When my friend arrived tried again , this time the guy was fidling with menus for a couple of minutes and then couldnt find my reservation which in the end he did . Please guys get your act together.
Fantastic meal for 8 on Sunday. Excellent range of food for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The baked Camembert for two went down a treat and the butternut squash curry was delicious. The service was very good despite the restaurant being busy. The only downside was our table ( in back corner by doorsas it was sunny and the people on the bench seat had the sun in their eyes.
I never ever sent food back before but the dish i ordered was just not nice. However, the server Reka was very helpful and had no problem swapping it to something else. The cocktail I had was nice, the restaurant has a nice decor so other than the first dish with the chorizo and octopus not being good , it is a good place.
Food was fantastic, staff very friendly, only very, very slight thing. Tables for two could be a bit bigger. With a £145 bill for two it felt a little cramped but the whole experience was great
Wonderful meal, great range of cocktails. Loved it
We turned up on spec and were pleased to be found a seat with no hassle even though they appeared quite busy. The menu provided a varied choice, more adventurous than lunchtime offerings by many of their competitors. Service was prompt and professional. The meals were very good, especially at this price level, as too were the house wines that we had.The only small negatives were the wait to be seated, no one acknowledged us for a while and when we were seated the table was uncomfortably close to a till/order station. However, once we asked if we could sit somewhere else we were shown to a much better position.
Since the revamp and presumably a new head chef Browns has been Excellent! Utterly consistent. Weve been there for breakfast and lunch now and they were both fantastic.
I really enjoyed several meals here with the family while staying nearby. The food is of a high standard and appears to have been made with care . Full of flavour and well presented. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Very attentive, drinks replenished very quickly. Food incredible. Beautiful decor, 11/10!!
Excellent food, drinks choice, comfortable and attractive decor, but it is expensive. In addition when you pay they add another 10% voluntary service charge, except its added by default, so isnt really voluntary. You can ask for it to be removed, apparently. More especially as the service sometimes seems (to mea little disorganized - headless chickens sprang to mind at one point! Theyre very keen, but dont always deliver in good time. It was fine for me as I wasnt in any hurry!
Visit quite regularly but the experience has upped since the refurbishment (as if it was possible to get better). The drinks menu is still amazing and I tipped the bartender for tailoring them to my specific taste when ordering, without issue and to perfection. Food is also amazing (contrary to some negative reviews I’ve seen). Champagne is also reasonably priced and up-charged given how beautiful the venue is and the level of service. Should defo be on your list if you’re looking for a refined, relaxed and well served evening.
What was great - All the staff were super friendly, accommodating and helpful. The food was lovely We were very well looked after by the team which made a massive difference.Would happily eat there again when I next visit.
Our server was really great, remembered small details and very friendly! Drinks were very well made (we had lots of cocktails as celebrating!)Camberet starter was delicious, crab and prawn linguine could have had a bit more flavour - otherwise food was lovely, definitely recommend as a restaurant for special occasions!
The starter was awful . And the burgers we had were just terrible. Dry and basically black! The fries looked like they had been waiting to be served a while. It was a terrible experience. Visited the toilet and they hardly flush. I recalled this happened a few years ago when my friend used the bathroom and complained about the same issue. It’s amazing that after the renovation it’s still substandard.Very poor quality food for the price. I dine out a lot locally and away and I would say this is by far my worst experience and would have sooner gone to some local pubs that do good quality food . Not about the money at all. The waitress was lovely.
Food was delicious and very prompt considering the size of our party. Servers were all very friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful time - thank you :)
Our waiter looked extremely busy, but we thought he was great. Some other tables seemed to be saying the service was slow, but it was fine and he did a great job. Also the food was perfect. Thanks!
I was excited to hear that Browns had had a refurb so booked for lunch with my friends who were visiting from the US. Sadly, it was a disappointing experience. The noise in the dining room bounces off the walls making it impossible to relax and have a conversation without having to shout across a small table, especially when large parties are in attendance too. The level of service was also lacking - we ordered olives for the table to start, they were the last thing to arrive after our mains meaning they didn’t get touched. Our mains arrived very promptly at the table which is always a bit concerning on how freshly made it really is. Our drinks didn’t arrive until we were half way through our mains and it took 7 attempts to repeatedly ask for water for the table. No one came to check if our food was ok or if we needed more drinks (probably because the first round arrived so lateand then we were left with finished plates on our table for over 20mins with several of the waiting staff wondering around but not actually servicing the tables. Unfortunately, we couldn’t wait to leave so we’re out of there within the hour making it not a very enjoyable or relaxing experience at all. Such a shame as the venue could be so great and if they got the simple things right.
Lovely food here, good service and a nice bar. Great little seating area outside if you just want a drink after work.
Loved it. The service and food were excellent!
I would not recommend friends or family to visit so early, I realise there seemed to be a couple of birthday parties going on but it was quite noisy and the music was also quite loud. The staff however were very good, helpful and the food was well cooked.Only problem with the food was that both my wife and i had chips with our meals and whilst my wifes chips seemed quite nice and of a good size mine were quite small and seemed like leftovers and quite dark in colour.
Great food and location. Gluten free menu and full allergen menu supplied on a tablet.Service was excellent, very attentive and helpful. Highly recommended.
This is a 5 star review, not for the food, indeed, the steaks were sadly overcooked (no doubt because it was both the hottest day ever in the UK and very busy at the same time), but how the staff dealt with the problem - they were nothing short of exceptional and while I dont know the Managers name, Im calling out the way she and her team worked and it deserves praise.Overall the food was a 4 out of 5, prices are not cheap, but not dear, a good balance and we will certainly go back next time were in town - wholeheartedly recommended.
Newly decorated and designed which looks great. The food was excellent and value for money. All the staff were smiling and helpful.Had a great time and will go back again and again.
The atmosphere was lovely, love the new decor. The food was gorgeous and the staff were brilliant. It was a birthday meal and it couldn’t have been better. Thank you x
As always, Browns never disappoints!I have ordered the salmon and lentil. It was well prepared and well presented.Like always, the staff was so friendly and professional. The service was perfect.I will definitely be back !
Was a great setting, staff were friendly. Really attentive, polite, and ensured our drinks werestocked up! The afternoon tea was delicious a great variety of sandwiches and desserts. I will definitely revisit 😊
We attended a family event at Browns on Friday 27th May. Private Dining in The Boardroom. It was tight for our party but still worked well. The wait staff were great special mention to Charlotte who really did her best. Everyone was great just let down on the food. Now for the bad bits. Pan Seared scallops were great. I ordered the Chargreilled Chick and Bacon Club as a main course! Waht a misstake when it arrived it was 2 ciabatta baguette cut in half. Pice of chicke and bacon in it with smear of egg. And a small pot of fries. Nothing else. the plate was half empty , no saled no garnish. Totally bizarre. I asked if there was anyting else coming as I was surrounded by people eating heaped plates of Steak etc. Seriously unimpressive on any level. Presentation 1 out of 10. Quality 2 out of 10 and taste 2 out of 10.I then had the misfortune to order Apple and Damson Crumble. Presentation was fine but the apple and damson under the crumble topping was essentially an overcooked congealed lump of blackened something! Truly awful! We probably spent well over a grand on the evening. Never again.
Lovely food, great atmosphere, reasonably priced… and most importantly we had an amazing Serbian waiter (sorry didn’t catch your namewho looked after us really well!! Thank you
Staff were very friendly.Service took too long. Many items on the menu unavailable.Limited menu.Very expensive.Wine wasn’t best quality.Kids meal very small.Steak very dry and over cooked.Cheese board very small, no fruit i.e grapes/apple and only a few biscuits.Cheese selection very poor and not best quality.Meals poorly presented.Very small portions.Tables old, not level and paint missing.Chairs very uncomfortable.Decor dated. Not provided with appropriate cutlery.Served wrong meals and food we hadn’t ordered but were still charged for.Very disappointed with our first experience to Browns. Will not be returning and would not recommend.
A simple yet lovely restaurant. I did the prix fixe and it served me just enough food to satisfy my needs after traveling. Food was straight forward and very well executed. Service was attentive and welcoming.
Always a lovely place to eat. The menu is varied with vegan and vegetarian options. The waiting staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Browns is a bit more up market, so expect to pay prices to match, but youre paying for high standards of food and service.
Absolutely excellent food and some pretty good drinks as well! My wife and I love the place. The staff are always well turned out and the food is always excellent. A trip for Sunday lunch is worth it for the Yorkshire puddings alone!
You will not be disappointed. From the very moment you walk in it’s a 5 star service. The staff are superb. The food is excellent. Top class service. Not too pricey given the experience you have. Genuinely can not recommend this place enough - an absolute gem in Nottingham. Anyone that gives a negative review needs to give their heads a wobble. Went in for lunch and was so impressed went back in for night drinks. Go as soon as you can 👌
Lovely place to eat .went early sunday morning for breakfast lovely ...the only down side was tjat we was left standing waiting to be sested to our table untill we had to ask someone and tjey wasnt busy at this time ,after neing shown to our table again we had to wait for ages for anyone to come and take our order ..disappointing.
If you try to book a table at this polished establishment youll be greated by an automated service, who declined my time request. I walked to the restaurant on the off chance of a table. The place was half empty and loosing Business... The staff were fine and the brunch average.. There are better options in town but if youre after a little pretence for surroundings and average food (not bad, not great), then this is the place for you. If a restaurant cant be asked to answer the phone in person why bother. I did out of curiosity having been to a Browns years ago.. Wouldnt bother again. Ps - tomatoes were not good, probably sat under a heat lamp all morning, nothing fresh about them..
Would recommend. Lovely food and nice cocktails. Service good.
tried the breakfast ordering a sweet n a savoury dish. wasnt too impressed. coffee feels like machine made. maybe better to try their menu from the rest of the day. good service though.
Such a lovely place! I came here for the first time with my friend whos recently had a baby to meet her for the first time, we sat outside to stay away from the majority of people incase the baby started crying and since it wasnt too hot nor too cold we decided itd be the best place to sit.The staff was so polite and so nice, the drinks were served quickly, I had a pineapple daiquiri, and the food was absolutely gorgeous 😍 Ive ordered the meal of the day which happened to be a Sea Bass and Ive not had such a good fish whilst out for such a long time, the sauce was beautiful and tasted perfect with the baby potatoes. I also ordered a side of seasoned fries which didnt taste too seasoned so not sure whether there was a confusion or whether theyre just suppose to be very lightly seasoned. For dessert I has a lemon tart with raspberry sorbet which was combined so beautifully, the sorbet wasnt too sweet and it went perfectly with the slight tang of the lemon, the tart was gorgeous from a crumbly tart and soft filling to a carmelised top which added a lovely crunch to everythingI will definitely recommend coming here, its such a nice place with a lovely decor and such nice staff 10/10
Very nice inside staff was friendly, I did find it a little on the cold side as we were near the door wish I wore something warmer. We all had main meals which was basic but nice. Drinks a bit pricey eg £4.00 for a small glass of soda water. Pudding went down well. Would I go again yes only if there are any discounts as I cant justify £22.00 for a small stake no bigger than your hand, all in all we party of 8 had a good time.
Excellent food and very good service.. The waiters and bar staff are well trained and professional. .Decor is good and they have a outdoor seating too which is excellent if the weather is kind!I personally did feel that the music played was too loud for a fine dining place! No other complaints. . .
