Brown Bear Bakery - Cafeteria in Madrid, Spain

The food is really heavy and bad we just wanted breakfest the food was discusting and we had to wait sooo long to get a table and food took hours to come the waiters dont know a word in english and the expriance was just bad
Cozy little coffee shop with wonderful coffee and yummy pastries. Very reasonable prices for the quality. Limited seating and it can get busy, but its worth the wait, and the staff hustles best they can. The downstairs seating area appears to be an old brick lined wine cellar and it is unique but its a bit warm and claustrophobic. Probably really nice in the colder months
great vibe, best food and service, fair price, has english menu.
Amazing place, fast service and excellent breakfasts
Good food and service. However I did not like how they charge. They don’t give you a bill/ receipt and making you pay at the front. Not a problem paying to the front but the you have to repeat what you had (which you can miss or double an itemand have no way of knowing if the amount is correct. I saw multiple customers confused if amounts were correct. Just provide a bill and have costumers pay at the front. Not hard.
Got the carrot cake to take out. It had good flavour but was a little dense and dry
Friendly staff, good vibe. Their toasts are all somehow the same. However I recommend to eat different type of breakfast. Quick service but not much variety
Great place for a quick breakfast . Great service outstanding and fresh food . Recommend anything with meat !
Small bakery cafe with Spanish charm. Great for brunch or breakfast.Home made bakery and good coffeeWelcoming staff and great atmosphere
Great breakfast here. Service was lovely and food was good. Would absolutely recommend for breakfast if in the area.
Had a great American breakfast here. Not often can you find good ones in Europe.
One of the best pan au chocolat I’ve ever had, easy location near the centre of Madrid, great staff, and an all round great place, must go
Great ambient, food is supper tastyThe newyork brunch is amazing
Super cute bakery and cafe. The breakfast is really good and the staff is nice. I would definetly reccomend stopping here sometime when you are in Madrid
Simply one of the best most fresh crossiants you could ask for! Gotta get them early when they are fresh
I loved this place for breakfast! Cute litte bakery where everyone finds something
unique local coffee house with amazing pastries and food, lovely workers ❤️
Perfectly made scrambled eggs and bacon, exquisite torijja (french toast), yummy pastries, what more can one ask for breakfast?
Very very delicious cheesecake! Wonderful 😍
Excellent cafe in lovely Quarter. Great coffee, croissants, bagels, toasts etc and a fantastic bakery. Pleasant staff and very reasonable prices
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Welcoming staff, beautiful seats upstairs and downstairs, and the brunch was the main reason I got up in the morning in my visit to Madrid! No issues with the service, and the bagels were the best Ive had in Spain. I cannot wait to come back to Madrid to eat here again! The bagel with salmon was phenomenal, wonderful portion sizes and extremely well priced. My friend also had the pancakes, and the French toast, both of which looked amazing as well. About 12€ for 2 drinks and the food, you cant go wrong! Absolutely delicious, looking forward to my return!
Their breakfast is amazing and the staff is super friendly as well ❤️
My wife highly recommends the brownie with walnuts. Just brought a large piece home and I can see it´s not going to last long :-)
Excellent food and the place is clean.Tried the healthy breakfast today!! Also tried a few croissants, Perfecto!Bathroom is clean and the lock works...
Lovely staff and amazing food! The matcha white chocolate cookie is perfect with a cup of tea. Their tortilla de patatas was fantastic. The café was clean and had an accessible bathroom. Would definitely come back!
Amazing home made Cakes and pastries. Tasty coffee. Really local feeling no tourist place. Beautiful interior.
Great coffee, high quality bakery.Very cosy and friendly service.
Cute artisanal place with good coffee and pastries, and very friendly service!
Delicious quiche, nice little place and affordable. I pretty much want to eat everything on display here, looks so yummy. I ended up eating here twice!
Very good breakfast at reasonable prices. The croissant with jelly and butter was perfectly toasted and yet deliciously soft. The coffee was good, but not excellent. Service was efficient and friendly especially given the number of tables being worked. Nice basement area when they run out of room upstairs. Overall, highly recommended!
A bakery where you can have breakfast. It is not expensive, and you get good breakfast. Inside is not very big, but it is nice, tidy, and homey. It does not feel fake like many of those new shops. You can get simple breakfast with orange juice for about 4 euro; toasted bread with butter and minced tomato is a recommendation ;).
Its a good place to stop for jam and toast after the end of a day walking between the museum and the Plaza Mayor. It has a walk-up area for pastry in front and a restaurant area in back. The pastry and cookies are the real draw.
Lovely, authentic place! Artisanal bakery. You can have an easy breakfast for 2,40 EUR consisting of tea/coffee and croissant or the typical Spanish breakfast: a toast with tomato and olive oil. Fresh orange juice is prepared too for an add on.
Staying in the area, once I started going to this bakery in the morning, I couldn’t stop! So good and fresh with a decent variety of both sweet and savoury treats. Friendly service and even better was the ability to use card payments for small amounts
Cute little bakery. You can buy bread and food to go or eat it in. The place is small. They must have 3 or 4 tables only. The sandwiches we had were very nice.
Small space but good quality baked goods and breakfast food. Coffee was fine but nothing special. Great place for a quick bite.
Positives: its a nice atmosphere and its a cute building. There are definitely worse cafes in the area.Negatives: the coffee is okay without being fantastic. There are so many cakes to choose from, but they are so sugary.
This place reminded me, with the tinkling of the bell above the door announcing our entrance, the small checkered (and weatheredfloor in the entrance, the high wooden & glass display cases and the great offer of foods and variety of tempting "eat-me-nots" everywhere almost hiding the lovely sales lady that takes care of your every need with that balance of just the right amount of efficiency without affecting her warmness towards you (as if theres no one else there), the hint of a small salon through the doorway in the back, with quaint tiny European sized mismatched wooden tables & chairs...of my ideal deli in New York or Chicago plucked from countless movie scenes... And yet, its very Madrid at the same time, with the local fare, and the woman addressing you in Castillian (Spanish)...we had no time unfortunately & bought some brown paper wrapped goodies to go!
Nice cafe with wide variety of pastries and other breakfast and lunch items such as sandwiches and quiches. Also have prepackaged baked goods to pick up and take with you, very affordable prices to do so! Small space so plan accordingly!
Nice place, good service, great coffee, fresh orange juice and the best Napolitana pastry for very good price! Highly recommend for quick breakfast.
Nice little bakery with option to dine in. Very tasty and reasonably priced bread. I preferred the slightly darker bread to their pure wheat options. Pastry is delicious, especially donut azucar and chocolate croissants. It gets busy in there in the morning so dont expect to get a seat unless youre willing to wait.
Cute place. Lots of variety. Sandwiches are impressive. No English but still did a great job. Eating area a little small but cozy. Try the apple streusel slice: heaven on a plate.
Amazing little bakeshop thats brimming with artisanal baked goodies and delights. Nice for morning coffee and or a lazy afternoon merienda!
I read one review that suggested grabbing a sandwich here before heading out to tour Madrid. It is a great bakery for that, about 3 Euros for a decent sized sandwich. I bought sandwiches here multiple times, and it was a great way to help adjust to the different eating patterns here in Spain.
Very cozy and home feeling place to have a coffee, great service and youll find friendly faces every once in a while if you come often. Great!
Its my favorite bakery in Madrid. Reasonable prices for delicious dessert.
Cute nice bakery with quality products at reasonable prices. The €3 sandwiches are a great lunch to take with you as you explore Madrid. They also do hot breakfasts and lunches which sadly we did not get to try.
So many options for baked goods, as well as a small specialty food selection. Inviting decor and a nice staff. Great place to have coffees and read for a few hours on a rainy day, which we did
Good breakfast specials that include coffee/tea, oj, and pastry for about 3 euros. I got the nutella donut which weighed about a pound. I would advise against eating that one unless you are actively trying to put on weight.
