Had an excellent afternoon tea in the drawing room. The room was beautiful, staff were friendly and attentive, and the tea and sandwiches were lovely. The only disappointment was I did not eat the cakes and only had a couple of bites of the dessert as I was too full. The staff packed it for me but I unfortunately discovered once I returned home that they either gave me the wrong box or forgot half of it as none of the cakes were in the box, the desserts had melted together, and there was a scone I did not recognize.

We were there for our anniversary and this one piece of pastry was the only good thing that day!All other pastries were either not fresh or of poor quality. The tea selection looked pretty interesting but taste-wise there were far from an afternoon tea or closer to Lipton teabags! The savory sandwiches were subpar with stale bread. The service was very rushed and we had a hard time finding our server who were apparently also host. The host was borderline rude and seemed to have a bad day.

Tea at the drawing room - overpriced at £70+ pp/£35 for kids, but overall a nice experience. The service was very well done, the room well-appointed, with lovely live piano music. However, the finger sandwich bread was dried out and you could tell most of the sandwiches were not made to order. We enjoyed the vegan sandwiches the most, with curried vegetables and beet being the biggest hits. The vegan desserts, on the other hand, were not very good at all. Recommend one person order vegan and one regular, as you have more options to try the flavors. It was an experience to be had, but not one I would do twice based on the food quality overall.

We love an afternoon tea. To say we know our way around a scone and a finger sandwich is an understatement. To say that Browns consistently serve the best afternoon tea in London is also an understatement. Epic

We did the afternoon tea at the hotel and we had a wonderful time. My wife has a soy allergy and the staff went out of their way to accommodate this issue by presenting a custom menu of soy-free items. It means the world to my wife to have this service.

Situated in Albemarle Street it has the quiet elegance of yesteryear serving todays modern lifestyles. It is expensive but Ive been very lucky to have stayed here a few times and each time the service has been first class. The staff are the friendliest and most helpful Ive ever met, nothing ever too much trouble for any of them. Breakfast in the dining room is not to be missed, the selection is wide and varied catering to all dietary needs.

A traditional afternoon tea, but sadly not quite as good as it used to be. On our most recent visit, they felt understaffed (service was definitely slow but friendly, and thankfully they didnt encourage us out at the end of our slotand the sandwich bread was not as fresh as it should have been. The tea, scones and ambience were still good, and the cakes were very good, but at this price, you want it all to be very good.

Arrived at 10a and the Browns staff worked quickly and effectively to get me into the room class that I had booked, they even were able to upgrade me based on my amex platinum status after my first nights stay. Very impressed with the level of service at Browns. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Room service of excellent quality. Farm to table offerings at Charlies were fresh and impeccable and had some fun orange peel wine suggestions from Slovenia by the sommelier with one of my courses. Spa is a delight and boozy Tea time with an old friend from London was a hit. Will return every time.

The sandwiches, sweets and tea all had great qualities. However it was very disappointing to be served with a broken cup. I pointed it out to the waiter, but he seemed to not be bothered by the fact. Additionally, although we should have had an hour and 45 minutes to ourselves,we were rushed out and made to pay with more than twenty minutes to spare. To sum up, the food was delicious but the service unfortunately made it an uncomfortable experience.

Went to the drawing room for high tea. Best one I ever had from the service, food, setting cannot fault a thing.Service was outstanding. Explained the menu, offered suggestions, poured our tea and kept the refills coming. We had a lovely table for two tucked away in a corner by a window. Room was beautifully decorated. Loved the piano player. We were celebrating a birthday and they sang happy birthday while bringing a special cake with a candle, nice touch.I cant say enough good things except I will come again. Thank you.

Lovely comfortable restaurant. Great food. The hotel looks amazing, from Charlie’s to the restroom was a wonder to behold. I’m not a wealthy person, nor is my girlfriend, but, I wasn’t made to feel out of place dinning here. The staff where very good & friendly. The food is expensive, but it’s worth the money. I’ll come back here once a month for a treat. Very relaxed vibePS And I saw Olga coming in the entrance. Big admirer of her & her daughter Alex Polizzi.

I’ve been to a few afternoon teas in london. This one was good - while not the best in London it certainly has history. Being the oldest hotel that first start serving afternoon tea it’s worth a visit. The tea choices were good. The bread on the cucumber sandwich was a bit stale. The trolley cakes were really good and I enjoyed the scones. I wouldn’t necessarily come back though. The staff were very nice!

Recently, while in London, I took the opportunity to have a toot (as they say in Lancashireat what had been Le Caprice restaurant in Arlington Street. It was a sad sight and I wish I hadnt done it. A place that generated so many happy memories was now just a shell of what it had once been. I wrote about the demise of Caprice here, so I dont intend to bleat on about it again now.Part of the reason for being in London that day was to see what Jesus Ardono and his team were now doing for Rocco Forte, in Browns Hotel in Mayair. The flagship restaurant in Browns is Charlies and in appearance its the antithesis of Le Caprice, against which I was inevitably comparing it. Caprice was designed on a monochrome palette whereas Charlies is a riot of colour with decoration, in what I can only describe as jungle style. The room is large and at first glance seems more formal. The design was the work of Olga Polizzi, daughter of the later Sir Charles Forte after whom the restaurant is named. Olga is Director of Design for Rocco Forte Hotels. Personally I find she often takes good ideas a little too far. The plates in Charlies seem not to show off the food to best advantage and are too busy. Give me a round white plate any day.Immediately on arrival in the dining room there was a huge wave from Jesus from across the bar area and a very welcome surprise as Paul Stabbins, who had looked after us so well on many visits to Caprice, crept up behind us to give us a very warm welcoming hug. Immediately I felt at ease and gained certainty that the spirit of Caprice was alive and well and would soon dominate Charlies. With these two, front of house, Im certain that the journey to create something special is being driven forwards with gentle determination and a sense of generous hospitality.Jesus offered us a choice of tables, both in prime position at the end of the room. He was particularly proud of his decision to install semi-circular banquettes at some of the tabs around the perimeter of the dining room and so we chose one of those, a great spot, he said, for people watching. The menu is fairly classic with modern twists and the kitchens are led by chef Adam Byatt (of Trinity in Clapham). I was pleased to see that some Caprice classics had made the move to Mayfair and sit alongside the carve-at-the-table roast meat trolley.I had Omelette Arnold Bennett with English Lobster to start, followed by Chicken Kyiv the price of each one sold being donated to the British Red Cross to help Ukrainians displaced by the current Russian war of aggression. Both dishes were enjoyable and well prepared but I would have liked my Kyiv to have given up more unctuous butter when I cut into it. Next visit Ill try the Calves Liver and Bacon which is always a good litmus testOmelette Arnold Bennett with LobsterChicken KyivThe hospitality industry has taken big hit because of the Covid Pandemic with many good staff leaving the industry for more flexible and better paid jobs. Recruiting, training and retaining front of house staff, even in the best restaurants must be very challenging at the moment. Charlies has a little way to go to before it delivers the über efficient, yet friendly and appropriately infomal service we saw at Caprice. Im confident that they will get there though and will certainly go again next time Im in London to see how things are progressing. In the meantime, I wish Jesus, Paul and their team in bocca al lupo". See you soon my friends!

Went for a drink. Appalling, sneery service. Not permitted to have the bottle of water I brought with me, on the table. Nice wine but they charge, per glass, what a bottle costs in Sainsburys. For the same wine. Would have been worth it for the ambience, but there was none.

Best afternoon tea for anyone who suffers with allergies!I recently have become very allergic to dairy and after a few bad experiences in other restaurants did not want to eat out again and struggled to trust places. Until I went for Afternoon Tea at Rocco Forte Brown’s Hotel! Not only was the dairy free and gluten free cakes, sandwiches and scones amazing, they were so accommodating and made me feel like I was not being awkward in ordering dairy free and always made me feel safe that everything was dairy free. The range as well was amazing and I felt like I was having the same as everyone else. The employees are so lovely, caring and attentive and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for afternoon tea. If you have allergies please come here!

Browns is the best hotel Ive ever stayed in. You get a truly personal service here and they take such good care of you. The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable. My recent trip to London was for my wedding anniversary and birthday, and my husband and I were treated like royalty. Storm Eunice stranded us in London for 24 hours after we were meant to go home, which was very stressful. The staff at Browns could not have been more understanding and caring towards us, and I have no doubt that their actions reduced our stress levels massively. Ill definitely be back!

Gorgeous Christmas decorations 🎄Went for high tea and was wonderful. However, I wish I could give 4.8 stars, because everything was good..except the desserts/pastries looked beautiful but I didnt quite like them. They really werent great, and its 1/2 the high tea...I had just one that was lovely and a few bites of the others and left them.If Im picky they did not have a wide selection of herbal (non-caffeinated teasand they ran out(?of the one I wanted so was left with only 3 options I believe.

Champagne Afternoon Tea.5 nurses out for a treat!Super afternoon tea, excellent choice of teas. One wanted coffee no problem at all we were told if we wanted coffee at anytime that wouldn’t be a problem. The sandwiches were delicious and replenished! Cakes were good but the scones were absolutely delicious. But best of all we’re the staff, I have never been served by people who actually enjoyed working, they were lovely, friendly and so professional too. The staff must be well looked after as I don’t think they could fake it.Hopefully will save our pennies for next year and come again - unless you do an NHS discount!

luxury hotel in the nicest not of london but lacking any character or charm. went there for afternoon tea at the drawing room. if it’s someone’s first afternoon tea in london and they always wanted to visit browns it’s fine, however it’s a very normal experience. they are just about meeting basic requirements. average bread, average sandwich fillings , broad selection of teas, basic selection of pastries, not very proactive staff, they don’t quite buzz around topping up your tea and sandwiches which is what you expect when you’re paying 60quid pp. the staff are also clearly not well trained. my teapot was leaking onto my tablecloth and the tea pot honestly looked a bit tired. meh. go to sketch instead.also in context of the pandemic, zero protocol. not even sanitiser!

Went for afternoon tea today. It is an amazing experience made all the better by the amazing staff. They were all so friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and I liked that the food was brought out at different times and not all put out at the same time. A wide taste of teas and infusions are available and you can try different ones. Food was amazing and the staff kindly put the extra food into a box for us to take away. Definitely worth a visit. We stayed at Browns for our anniversary and were so incredibly well looked after. We had afternoon tea booked with our 2 small children and every little detail was considered with toys to keep them busy and special sandwiches and cakes provided at no extra cost. The staff were very friendly and the hotel manager even came out to greet us and introduce himself. They all engaged with our children which was lovely to see.Concierge surprised us with a bottle of Champagne in our room to help us celebrate. From start to finish, including before even arriving, I felt highly valued and well looked after. In such challenging times, it is great that service or quality havent suffered here.Highly recommended.

I had a lovely afternoon tea. There was a good selection of pastries, and teas of course, and it was especially nice that you can replenish your tea with a different flavour as many times as you like. Also, they brought extra sandwiches and pastries, so we had plenty to eat. As it was my birthday, they also brought me a chocolate birthday cake with a candle on.
