Brooklyn Bridge, New York, NY 10038, United States, Garden City
Beloved, circa-1883 landmark connecting Manhattan & Brooklyn via a unique stone-&-steel design.
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of those iconic and beautiful places in NYC that everyone should explore. Whether youre looking at it from either Manhattan or Brooklyn, or taking a night time train ride over it to see the lights of NYC in their full glory, youll always have a fantastic view. Ive heard sunsets from the bridge are incredible, but I havent done that yet.
Great bridge to walk across and it has so much character (for a bridgewith loads of photo opportunities. Great views across the River and you can easily cross the bridge in anything between 20-60 mins depending on your speed and how much of the sights you want to take in
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is an incredible experience, especially on a fall NYC day. Make sure you carve out enough time to enjoy this experience as you make your way across. Stop and soak in the various views of Manhattan and Brooklyn, While snapping pics of epic views. There are vendors along the path where you can purchase items. And if you do not want to walk back across, grab the ferry on the Brooklyn side. This is another fun experience as you soak in the city.
I have come here a few times. There are some great views of the city and Brooklyn. Beautiful skyline and architecture. Great views right before sunset and when it’s dark. It’s just way too crowded. Many of the people are inconsiderate. Blocking a path to take an Instagram photo shoot shouldn’t inconvenience the other five thousand people on the bridge.
Must go when you are in NYCOne of the main sights in the city.Went here early early morning and it was the best choice ever ! The bridge was empty and the light was beautiful! Perfect time to avoid the crowd that was already arriving around 9:30.
A lovely walk and the best view of Manhattan and Brooklyn too! There are also vendors selling souvenirs and things along the bridge which is fun browsing. The walkway is set above the road which is great because you can actually have a conversation with people instead of all voices being drowned out by loud cars and supersonic motorbikes.
Brooklyn Bridge is one of the best iconic places in NYC. It is very convenient way for workout and enjoy the city views from different side. I am glad they moved bike lane from pedestrian walkway, feels more safe to walk.
Not much to say. Great views and one of the most recognizable bridges in the US.Great length to walk and just take in New york. Can be crowded especially if you want to take a good photo in certain spots.
Its the Brooklyn bridge. Very old and famous. Not sure if there is anything new to say. A walk across the bridge offers some very cool views of the city, so I recommend taking a stroll and getting some great food on the Brooklyn side. You can even see the Statue of Liberty from one specific spot.
Visiting Brooklyn Bridge, is visiting one of the most iconic places on New York...and one of the most beautiful...not only the bridge itself, but the fantastic view that you will have to Manhattan and Brooklyn... You can even see Libertys Statue far on South...I recommend you cross the bridge during the day, spend your time (as much as you canat Brooklyn, and return to Manhattan before the sunset... You will get amazing photos during the day, the sunset and during the night...
Found myself walking across the bridge on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Manhattan side was lined with vendors selling New York memorabilia. I was amazed by the architecture; intricacies of the wires and how it stood the test of time. I was especially taken by all the locks left on the bridge, sometimes defiantly directly onto the "no locks" signs, with Manhattan and Brookyn skyline beyond. Also a good view of the Manhattan Bridge on the left, and if you look close enough you can see the Statue of Liberty on the right too.
History history and great weather. Spring or Fall a must. Too hot in the summer. We were not assaulted at any time but have heard horror stories. Easy walk to 1 World Trade Center!!$58 per person there. Very nice.
We walked the Brooklyn Bridge on September 11. It was great! A group of soldiers marched across the bridge going the other direction. There is lots of scenery. Its interesting to watch the other bridge walkers. There is a nice bike path alongside the bridge, should you want to ride across.
Very very crowded only walked a little ways the beauty cannot be seen because of the amount of people. I am from the mountains of Va and have seen spectacular But the history of building this bridge was amazing story and lots of hard work was put into building this structure.
Its a pretty stunning bridge. Theres a separate cycle path allowing bikers and scooters to flow freely. Traffic is also segregated away from walkers. The bridge is approximately 2km long if going from both entrances. Between 11:00-17:00 it takes a good 30/40 minutes to get along the bridge due to stall holders and the sheer volume of people and tourists. If you visit before 10:00 it is so peaceful with mainly joggers using it allowing for freedom to enjoy the beauty.
Beautiful bridge! Such a nice walk. Crowded but still nice. Really recommend. Must have on your “to see” list. The only disadvantage is the people selling souvenirs. Sometimes it is annoying. Have fun!
Sunrise is amassing here, truly golden hours. We came around 6.30 ( sunrise was at 6.45), parked near the City Hall. Walked to Brooklyn Bridge. The view is awesome. Not crowded. A lot of couples who came for photo shoot. ( wedding photos).
Definitely worth a walk up. In my 30+ years of visiting this great city this was my first walk up the bridge. So glad I did it too. I did it at night in late September. It was a bit chilly & windy but we’ll worth it. The views on both sides of the river are nice. Highly recommend this & it’s free!
This has been a favorite destination in NYC for years. The stunning views never disappoint. The loud vendors and crowded walkway can be a bit much on the Manhattan side but its part of the experience. I recommend walking across the bridge as a must do on a visit to the city!
Maybe I do not know all the information about the bridge. I know it was a marvel of Engineering back in the 1883, I respect and admire that part. But why is it so famous now? Are people so interested in engineering? It is like other bridges in other parts of the world but much more famous.
Brooklyn bridge is one of my favourite places in NYC right now. Beautiful and well maintained besides the history behind it. I loved knowing a bit more about Brooklyn and its bridge. My golden tip is for you to go early! We went to catch the sunrise (we got there around 6:30amand it was spectacular. Almost nobody was there, was pretty easy to shoot as many photos as we wanted and videos as well.
It was really nice. Breathtaking views and lovely walk. The best time is little before the sunset so you can see the ny skyline in twilight and after dark too.
Such a Historic place if you have never been definitely before the season ends you have to walk over doesnt matter if your in Brooklyn or Manhattan trust me its worth it!!!!! Beautiful View and all kinds of people to meet mostly very polite. I LOVE THIS CITY!!!! Dont Forget all the Stickers or Slaps Almost Everywhere and the locks on the gates and anywhere they can put them....Brooklyn!!!!!!
I really like this bridge. Its a must thing for whoever visiting New York. I went there with metro and walked on the bridge all the way to Brooklyn side. Its a very beautiful bridge and one of the most prominent landmarks of New York. As its proximity to other attractions like One World Trade Center and Wall Street, you can arrange the trip when you visit those sites.
Gorgeous, amazing, and stunning. One of the few must visit bridges in the world. Very fascinating and you can tell most of people walking on the bridge are foreigners from different countries with different languages and tones. The bridge is surely local and yet exotic.
Waking through the bridge gave me a new meaning in life. The view at dusk towards the downtown is so serene. This is probably the best attraction of New York.
The views are iconic and the walk is fun! We went in the evening, and the bridge was definitely more crowded but we enjoyed catching the sunset! We started in NYC and ended in Brooklyn, and from there we went to the Time Out Market! A very fun evening!
My family and I really enjoy hanging out around the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park and the entire DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpassarea. Great places to eat and shop and explore! Beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline as well.
Iconic bridge, not far from downtown Manhatten and the Financial District. Great viewing spots from both sides of the bridge. We viewed it from the Brooklyn side. There are plenty of free things to do in NYC and this is one of the best. Whether you walk the bridge or just view it from the shore, its so cool to see in person.Highly recommend.5/5.Follow me for more reviews, photos and great tips.
It’s a really great walk about a mile each way. Always a bit crowded so expect that. Lots of great photos opportunities! It’s worth the trip to explore different areas in Brooklyn and LES.
Chaotic during the day, as many guided visits or just normal touristic visits happen. I’d recommend to visit early in the morning or during sunset (just because it’s beautiful). The best shots are from Brooklyn to Manhattan. Take note of the many people selling everything possible there…
For up close views of the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the best free places to be. Go early in the morning to miss the tourists. But day or night the views are awesome. Be prepared to walk a lot! You can get to the bridge easily by subway. If you walk all the way across to Brooklyn, you can take a subway back to Manhattan. The waters edge from the Brooklyn side offers stunning views of Manhattan. If the weather is warm and you are sun sensitive, wearing sunscreen is a must.
Great Bridge from where you can see a lot. Best to go for this walk in the morning when there are fewer people. The lats are not all fastened down fully and this just adds to the experience and shows the age of the bridge. Obviously the bridge is free and lets you get from one side to the other so it has great views and serves a purpose. Check it out if you have the time.
Its one of the iconic locations in New York City, and you can see the fantastic view of the citys skyline. You can enjoy the walk and can cross the bridge and see the beautiful pictures. If you are planning to do that, then I would suggest going early morning when you wont find many people and can enjoy the walk
The Brooklyn Bridge is very recognisable thanks to its location, size and its granite towers and thick steel cables. It is perhaps one of New York Citys most popular attractions because it is so photogenic.Built: 1869-1883Height: 272 ft (82.9 m(towers)Total length: 6,016 ft (1,833.7 m; 1.1 mi)Longest span: 1,595.5 ft (486.3 m)
Wonderful ride via ferry from Astoria station to Pier 11, took the kids and they loved it. A very nice sight seeing of Manhattan and we passed under the Williamsburg and Brooklyn Bridge. Ride only cost 2,75$ and its a cool experience.
Very famous, old and must visit spot in New York. It was built back in 1883 to connect Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge is passage to cross the East river towards Brooklyn.I went for a walk on the bridge and the view of skyscrapers and the wind all over was amazing. You would find a lot of small souvenir stalls on the entry of the bridge who sell at very cheap prices.
We visited the Brooklyn bridge on a very sunny day before 11am, it was not crowded and we could enjoy the scenery leisurely. We didn’t go too far as we need to save energy to explore the city further. As we strolled along the bridge, the street vendors are slowly settling in with lots of New York City souvenirs at just a fraction of the price in store. The further you go, the better the price. The Brooklyn Bridge is definitely one of the best free activities in Manhattan!!
A beautiful walk, day or night. Free to do and amazing views all around. A nice way to get out and enjoy the weather and right across on the Brooklyn side are a lot of great food spots and places to chill.
An iconic bridge and landmark of Lower Manhattan that is a must to visit and walk across if you find yourself in the area.Built between 1869 and 1883 and spanning 1.1 miles this suspension bridge is a magnificent structure linking Manhattan and Brooklyn and is instantly recognisable due to its unique design. The bridge has an incredible history and some interesting stories such as the Manhattan side tower supposedly housing a very well stocked nuclear bunker.Visit the web for more information on the bridge but more importantly go and walk over it to experience some amazing engineering and wonderful sights of New York.
One of the absolute best free attractions in NYC is walking over the Brooklyn bridge. It connects lower Manhattan with Brooklyn and is the oldest, most famous and most beautiful bridge - a NYC icon and landmark.TIP: more interesting is to walk from Brooklyn to Manhattan as the NYC skyline is constantly in front of you.
I definitely recommend a stroll from Brooklyn towards Manhattan. If you are willing to get up early in the morning on a cloudless day to see the sunrise there you will be amazed. Worth getting up early. Views absolutely magnificent and no crowds in the morning.
Brooklyn bridge is a great place to know and take some really cool pictures, it gets really crowded some times but thats just people looking for some awesome pics and a great mood. If its sunny you are in for a great walk and just burn that ice cream you might have eaten earlier haha. Overall its great if you are already in Brooklyn or Manhattan to get to know this iconic bridge.
The bridge is beautiful at night you can see all the lights of the city. Plenty of spots to take pics and enjoy the views. Its about 1.5 mile walk across to Manhattan.
Essential route to do it on foot. The metal structure is impressive, a work of engineering, built with rivets. Take the subway to Brooklyn and walk across it back to Manhattan. It is usually very crowded and it is difficult to take good photos. But that doesnt stop you from enjoying the beautiful view.
A lovely walk with gorgeous views. Would recommend going earlier in the morning if you would like to take pictures without many other people in them as it gets significantly busier as the day goes on.
Breathtaking to look at and I definitely recommend a walk across .We walked from the Manhattan side over into Brooklyn. Takes about 20 minutes. There is a bike hire station right next to it.Once over, we turned a left and a left again into Dumbo. 100 yards on the right walking down the hill is Front At Pizza . Well recommend for authentic Brooklyn Italian pizza.Walk another 10 mins and get a ferry back across the river close to the Staten Island Ferry.Stunning views.
Views are spectacular!! We went right when the sun was setting and got some pretty worthy pictures! It was awesome also the moon was opposite the sun that day so we got a 2 for one deal 😍😜
You can walk there to enjoy the view and the town! Can be very cold in winter with the wind, prepare good clothes 😁. Take about 20 minutes to walk from a side to an other one.Sometimes there are seller of coffee or clothes in the bridge.
Fantastic place to visit day or night, very safe also. Struggled to find it initially but just head to city hall in NYC and you will find the pedestrian entrance / side walk to walk across. We visited it just after Christmas so it was very busy with lots of local market stalls at the start of the bridge ( Not sure if they are always around, but it was New Year’s Eve Eve lots of places to take pictures and selfies and doesn’t take that long to go across and back again. Worth visiting and all for free :)
