Pork sausages. Awesome.
Where do I start…Firstly, the lines for the tap beer taste like they’ve not been cleaned since they were installed. The starters were Camembert and bacon + sausage bap. Camembert you can get better from the frozen section in pak n save. The bap wasn’t a bap nor did it have bacon, sausage was average, bread was soggy.Mains were crispy pork belly and fish, chips with smash peas.Crispy pork belly had no crisp and we struggled to get our teeth through the rubbery meat. Had 1 bite each and it was awful.Fish smelt like it had been left in a chilly bin for 10 days, not on ice. Tasted old. Batter was soggy like the bread. Meal didn’t come with smash peas as stated. On a plus curry sauce was delicious.Absolute waste of money and time.My partner has called the number below, left a voicemail and hasn’t heard back.
Awesome atmosphere, service and food.
Awesome pub, great vibe, excellent burger & cider to accompany the rugby
Good food
Great place for a meal and a quiz
Firstly, the fish I had was first class, cooked to perfection, absolutely the best (half ameal Ive had in a long time. The rest of our partys meals were as amazing I was told. Also the two staff members wearing Black (AB vs Irland game nightwere awesome. But, what put a damper and a bitter taste to the evening, was the lady that cleared our table while I was still eating my food, I had half a meal left but couldnt finish it with her cleaning up, unfortunately I got stressed with her clearing everything off, she obviously thought I was too slow? Its sad with staff that doesnt have any manners, she could at least have asked before she started to clear the table. Also it would have been nice, to at least been offered to take the rest of my meal with me.Anyway... Please, let the chef know how perfectly cooked everything was, could not have been better.
By far the greatest pub I have visited. Uwe (the owneris the most amazing man I have met. Be sure to visit any and all days you get free 😊Edit:This review is still valid after years.Another edit:Still an amazing pub
I loved the place as they served delicious foods and authentic Irish beers. Friendly staffs and professional services. Highly recommend to stop by and try foods and beers then you will understand why I am recommend the place.
Spacious and had great atmosphere. Had nice British beer that I cant often find in NZ on tap.
Its my local. Always a pleasure going there. Always made to feel welcone
Want an actual pint of properly poured Guiness? Then this is the place to be. The food is great (and well proportionedand, despite being 12,000 miles away, it really does feel like a british pub.
Good atmosphere and place to have a feed and a beer Friendly staff. Best quiz in town. No other locals worth writing about in the area.
Can i ask if they do John Smiths extra smooth on tap thats bloody delicious can any one tell me thats would be awesome 🤙😎🍺🇳🇿🤙😎🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Went there on a Sunday afternoon about 4.30. It was quiet but as time went by the "regulars" started to roll in. The young girls behind bar were friendly enough although very quiet. Didnt try the food, roast day sunday, but have heard its pretty good. Wasnt much atmosphere due to being quiet but the beer was cold 😁Might try again on another busier day.
Foods are fantastic and the prices are reasonable.best services.
Always an great place for a drink or dinner. They have a great room you can rent for parties.
Nice local suburban pub. Food is nice and reasonably priced. Good selection of drinks. Friendly regulars make for a nice atmosphere.
Friendly welcoming well run pub with great staff and delicious food
Really friendly, nice staff and very reasonable menu, quiz nights on Tuesday....I even met a lovely elderly couple who eat their every night as its cheaper and nicer than cooking, they graciously let us share their table near the open fire.......This may turn out to be our local as we were looking at houses at the time.....
A very pleasant evening. Super friendly staff, excellent food. Will be back.
awesome dinner. great atmosphere and food. i had the lamb shank and it was delicious. totally recommend this place.
Great cosy friendly atmosphere with a wide variety of drinks and food available. Staff were very helpful too.
Great local drinking spot. Very well known and great staff. Use, the owner, is a live wire and knows his business. Good sport following too.
Love the atmosphere. If you looking for that warm UK pub, you will love this one.
Went to the quiz night. Good atmosphere with a pub grub menu. Nice selection of beers with very friendly staff. Worth a visit.
Absolutely wonderful. Been around NZ with family of four low-aged kids for a number of days and this is the place were we both ate and were served the best. Highly recommended.
Great pub, reminds me of the ones i miss back home. Beer is well kept, staff are friendly and food is tasty.
Great selection of food, beer and wine, friendly staff and well priced, highly recommended
Fantastic service, with delicious pub food. Couldnt wait to go back for our second nights meal. So glad we found this place.
AB Electrical just had a social function at British Isles Inn - their snug room was the perfect size for our Poker/ Black Jack night. The food was delicious and the team were fantastic. Will definitely have more work functions here in the future. Ty so much Tish for your hospitality.
Great staff funny as. Beers awesome. Food ok. Go there usually with mates we were carrying each other out lol. Must of been a great night
atmosphere was great, i took a risk and ordered the chicken cordon bleu after asking the lovely staff if it was nice. Unfortunately it was incredibly dry and disgusting. As far as pub food goes this was a great disappointment. Would not recommend this place for anything other than a beer.
Lovely atmosphere at this place. We often go there as a group after we have had our ukulele group play out. Sometimes we have had been offered the opportunity to play a few songs there for the patrons. Good menu and food.
A good place for a beer with mates, there are places to sit with your beer and to have conversations with not too much noise. The beers were well priced too.
Great corner local! Lovely bar staff and super clean and, as you would expect, ye olde tavern decor.
Went up on St Paddys for a couple of pints and a meal with a mate and was thoroughly impressed. The staff were still friendly and efficient despite having a big rowdy crowd to deal with, and they had a live band playing proper old Irish classics. Food was excellent and priced like pub food should be - delicious simple fare done properly. First time weve seen real chips & curry sauce in NZ, about time too! The beer selection is the best for miles around!
If you just want a quiet beer with a friend the British Isles in Rothesay Bay is a decent stab at an English pub. They even have some decent old country ales.
Always a friendly atmosphere, good selection of beer, great food too. Perfect for a family or catching up with mates.
Great food, great beers and probably the best service you could ask for, had a bloody great night.
Excellent food - we had 9 adults and everyone ate every bit of their meal, and raved about it. They have a separate room for groups.
Nice atmosphere and great patrons! The staff were really friendly and made a real effort to make sure you felt welcome
I had a fantastic night at the British Isles Inn last night. Fantastic meal and service. Very good value for money. Thank you
Fantastic bar staff!!! Super friendly and chatty. They have imported brittish beer and large meals
Such a greatly themed pub but needs more attention to the exterior appearance but the food is Amazing. Id like to personally thank Mathew Jacob, the head Chef at this pub for the most amazingly satisfying bangers and mash Ive ever had
Such a great vibe and awesome meeting place for friends and we love the indoor, plus outdoor option for seating. Very happy with how the manager engages with his patrons, awesome service! Its such a pity the new 3 story building next door has taken away the afternoon Sun.They do still have awesome food! Highly recommended. :-)
I have marked a one star but would have preferred to have a minus star to insert. A party of 9 people attended the British Isles Pub for a meal to celebrate 2 birthdays today 13/12/16. They were asked if a full menu was available for lunches at 1.00 oclock as we were really looking forward to their Sunday roast meal. We were told the full menu would be available. Upon arriving we were disappointed to be informed that the Sunday roast was not served until 4 pm hence we had to order from a printed menu. I personally, along with 2 others in our party, had steak, mash and vegetables. The steak was very nice and tender but the mash was drowned in garlic (which I can not eat), there were onions on the plate which I had specifically asked NOT to be put there and another of the party had the same experience except she had the full amount of vegetables. I had asked for JUST steak, mash and carrots and as I have stated the mash was so heavy with garlic and I am unable to eat onions that all I had was the steak. No one was impressed with their meals and I doubt very much if any of us will ever have meals at the British Isles Pub again. /Sylvia Aston
The perfect local pub. Excellent food, wine and beer list is extensive for any picky drinker out there. Sports screens. And fantastic British atmosphere.Try the salt and pepper squid. They get it just right every time.
Love the fried Haloumi salad, very very tasty! My Husband enjoys the Lamb Shanks and the service is friendly and efficient. Being from England I miss a good British pub, and this is a good British pub!
Some friends and my wife and I had dinner at your lovely pub last night (Friday 31st October). We all ordered the beef burgers, but my wife and I are on a Low Carb diet so asked if we can eliminate the buns and exchange the chips for a green salad. Well, what your chef did for us was remarkable. It was without doubt the best burger I have had in a long, long time. Just one small thing, if the salad dressing was sugar free it would have been perfect. Your staff are all extremely friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and it did not break the bank. Please convey our thanks and appreciation to your chef and all the staff. We will definitely be back. Oh, and as a suggestion, why not put the Low Carb burger on your menu, you will be surprised at how many people will order it as a "diet option"Kind RegardsAlf & Irene WoodAlbany
