Popular waterfront spot with a seafood-focused menu & an upper dining room, bistro, bar & patio.
I’m not quite sure why this place has 4 stars because frankly my experience did not reflect that. Read on to see why.We came for dinner and we didn’t wait too long, perfect. Front staff was friendly. Got sat down, waited 10 mins, someone brought us our water (not our server), we ordered our drinks. Waited another 20 mins, bartender brought our drinks. Our server did not greet us yet (in the end, they never did). We asked the bartender who our server was and the bartender ended up taking our order (which he just told the server and the server punched it in). We see our server walk around us, greet other guests (that got sat after usand helped every other table around us. The first time our server spoke to us, was to ask us how the food was 10 mins after we started eating, which was super awkward. Try to flag someone down so we could talk to the manager, too difficult to do, we were fed up, and paid our bill digitally (thank you for that optionand left.Food was mediocre. I had the truffle onion burger with fries, and it was good but not amazing. The flight of beer was refreshing. And the Peppercorn steak, was the worst we had. I would never order a steak from here again seeing the price, the cut and lack of taste. They also don’t have alternative veggies besides the seasonal. We asked for double mashed instead (don’t like the asparagus, thought to explain the picture).TLDR: service was terrible, food was mediocre for the price, I wouldn’t go back again unfortunately. If you want a view, I’d recommend another restaurant on Granville.Other notes: We visited on a busy Tuesday night, the place was pretty much full and alive. Great vibes and I great accommodation for large groups (I assume because I saw many). There was a line but got sat quickly because we opted for indoor seating. 20-25 min wait for outdoor seating on a Tuesday night around 7pm.
Had their truffle fries and truffle Mac and cheese. Both were excellent, though they would have been better had they stayed warm. Unfortunately we were sat outside on a fairly windy and cool day. Despite the sun and heaters I was freezing and our food cooled off quicker than we could eat. The restaurant was also very busy and our service was slow.
Great location just off the ferry terminal in Granville Island.Beautiful views especially if you sit outside. The food is just okay. Nothing special. The service is verrry slow. It took them 15 minutes yo serve water and more than 30 minutes to serve food.
Disappointed with my recent visit, especially since I’ve had great experiences at the North Van location. The food had to be sent back to the kitchen as the pizzas arrived cold and the French fries were cold and stale. Clearly a staffing issue with their kitchen / wait staff but not acceptable when paying high prices due to inflation, etc. I won’t let it affect my overall opinion on Tap & Barrel as a whole, but would not recommend this location.
It has taken well over a week and half to respond to my review …Daniel Frankel needs to pay more attention as the experience was shocking bad. No Don’t expect anything but wanting me to give them a second chance .Even a free meal will not want me to recommend not frequent your establishment ever again.2 days later and No Response from T&B WOWOn arrival we asked to be seated on the patio as we have my daughter and new son-in-law here from London. We were informed that at 7pm they stopped seating guests outside. We had no option to be seated on a high top table next to the bar. Extremely loud and unpleasant. We observed quite a few different groups being shown seating on the patio. Btw the patio was literally half full so it wasn’t a space issue. We have frequented Tap &Barrel on numerous occasions and felt that the setting was perfect for our out of town family. The manager Lied to us and this is most disappointing as we had a reservation and the fact that they seated us in a location that was not what we were expecting. As a result I did not enjoy myself and both my wife and I will NEVER ever frequent this restaurant again. This would never happen at say Cactus Club. To top it off, the food was average and the service was extremely slow and poor. The bill was $355 so it wasn’t just burgers and beer that we had. It’s not about the money. It’s about the experience!!!! Big FAIL
Lovely day, lovely views...My hamburger was good. However, according to my friend, "the chicken too hard and crispy. The fries were crispy hard".Had to agree with the comment about the fries.Service was Great; felt for servers having to climb all of those stairs ... they should install a "Dumb Waiter" ... happy staff, happy customers, just saying.Well be back, just wont order the same things 🙃
Disappointing service. My partner and I went for dinner and were sat at the bar. We asked for a beer flight for each of us. One was the standard on the menu the other was a “bartender selection”.When we asked for them the person behind the bar seemed clueless to what we were asking. Once that was sorted out and the flights were delivered the standard flight did not match the menu. Then we ordered an appetizer (crispy Humboldt squidand 2 meals (Cajun chicken burger & pesto chicken fettuccine). All 3 came out at the same time, which is not right, and there was no chicken in the fettuccine, like none.So I returned it and explained there should be chicken in this dish. For some reason The person behind the counter had to check the computer to confirm, yet it’s the only fettuccine dish on the menu, and then confirmed with me that I was correct. Not impressed. To top it all off my partner managed to finish their meal and and I was still waiting for my replacement meal.I decided to cut my losses and ask to remove the fettuccine and settle my bill.No one apologized for the terrible experience and the manager didn’t even come to apologize.
Great location (patioand beautiful views, great food and service!Went to Granville Island for a date and flexible dinner plans. We decided to check out tap and barrel without reservations, the wait wasnt too long and it looked like the patio was full. The initial table we were taken to was indoors but before we even sat down the waitress asked if we would prefer an outside seat seeing as the weather was good, we said sure. She went and looked and was able to seat us outside. The views were great and the service was excellent! We ordered the chicken pesto pasta and the drink I dont remember but it had a hint of pepper that I was wary of but was actually delicious.
Super friendly staff, beautiful view, fast service and delicious food. What else do you need from a restaurant. Waitress Laura delivered 5 star service. Thank you very much.
Wonderful location, excellent menu and attentive servers! Got the halloumi bowl and it was fantastic. The chips and salsa and guacamole were also great. Thanks for a great meal! Will be back.
While the food was good and the service fast and friendly, I didnt think the cost of this place is justified. We had nachos and a pizza. The pizza was great, but the nachos were so-so. They used some sort of cheese on the nachos that caused them to instantly bind to each other, making it very hard to share the dish.
Quesadilla was really something, steak was good too.Drinks, Vibe and location are so great. Recommended
Really nice location and pretty good happy hour deals. There was a wait to sit outside but plenty of space at the bar. Never seen such a high server:customer ratio but yet the service was still just..adequate. Not reflected with a minimum 20% tip option though.
Good service and location, some of the food was great while some was ok. We had the Cajun chicken burger which wasnt spicy enough but good flavor and the poke bowl which was awesome. The kids had a quesadilla and a cheese pizza, the quesadilla was great while the pizza was bland and way too big for a kid.Overall we liked it and will come back maybe the next time we come to Granville Island!
A solid choice for a meal with a view around Granville Island. Definitely opt for the outdoor patio if the weather is nice, but keep in mind that this is a very popular place so your views of the water may be limited by other diners if you are not seated right along the outer perimeter. Lots of menu options, and while not haute cuisine, a great choice for well prepared comfort-food-style dishes. Very friendly service as well. Theyve also got a QR code menu and payment option which is a neat touch, especially to instantly pay your tab after your meal so you can quickly continue exploring Granville Island.
Lovely casual vibe. We managed to wcorw a table on the deck overlooking the marina where our wait-person Laura looked after us well.Beers were solid, interesting - and local - Gin too. Food fresh and filling. A yes from me 👍
Ive been here 3times . All the times I sat outside which is nice during the day or night. The location and view is amazing! Staff are slow and sometimes they forget to check on you for more water or bill . Food is okay. Id rather order pasta here than the burger.
Signing up for the waitlist online really helped. The food was excellent. Truly delicious. Everyone in my party cleaned their plate. Busy place, so the service was a touch slow but the food was great. Wonderful dinner option if you are looking for somewhere to go with variety enough for everyone.
Restaurant was packed when we got here but were not surprised seeing the view. Its such a beautiful location! I think this will be our go-to restaurant for when we have friends to show around Vancouver. The service is also top notch! Our waitress Berylle was very sweet, kind and attentive. She made really great recommendations for everybody based on our likes and got me to try the Lettuce wraps instead of my original order the chicken strips. Im glad I listened because I think I just found my new favourite!! Im not the type to try new things but I appreciate staff that are genuine and speaks about the food passionately. Everyone on our table loved what they got!Only thing I would say that made me take 1 star is that the food took too long to arrive. For a big restaurant, youd think they would be prepared for busy days like the weekend. If they can sort that out, its a landslide 5 star for me! Will definitely come back here and hope we get the same seat and waitress again!!
Despite the very YELLOW appearance, this is a good restaurant with very good food. Busy, go early or late or you’re going to wait. The patio outside is where it’s at, watch the boats go by as you drink and dine. My wife loved the rose sangria and her blackened chicken rice bowl, and I liked my steak and frites. All the food going by looked really good!
Starting off with the views from the restaurant they’re amazing. We were sat outside so it was nice and quiet. Our server was also very sweet and the service was pretty quick. I loved the overall vibe of the place. For my main I ordered the Cajun chicken burger with a side of truffle waffle fries. The food was good but it was a little too salty, not sure if it’s always like this. It was the same case for my parents they got the halloumi veg sandwich and the chickpea veggie burger. For dessert I got the chocolate peanut butter cup which was so good but very heavy and filling. I never got a chance to try any of their seasonal cocktails but they looked so good. I hope to come back soon and be able to try them.
We were pleasantly surprised by this location. We sat outdoors and we did occasionally could smell some diesel fuel (after all it is on the water ane surrounded by the marina). Busy hopping location and we could have done without the screaming babies but it is dog friendly.Service was excellent. Food great. We had Caesar Seafood salad, chaloumi salad and a pizza. All were tasty and served quickly.Good selection of beers and beverages.Would recommend it.
Celebrating our anniversary, was lucky to be helped by Abby, she got us a seat at the patio, with outstanding sunset views, and was extra wonderful taking care of us. Finally served us some champaign to celebrate our anniversary.Thank you Aby for making our anniversary a very special one.
Beautiful location with a great view of the marina. Lots of patio seating. Tasty food and nice drinks. I recommend reserving online in advance as Granville Island can get very busy. If your looking for great views while you dine, book here.
The food was delicious and server was friendly. There was a mid summer rain so there werent so many people there. Will come back again, and again .
Recently visited the newest Tap in Vancouver- the former Bridges location on Granville Island. I had a great introduction to the locale and certainly was pleased and impressed. Friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating totalling around 840 persons if I heard right. So interesting being almost surrounded by moored boats and so many diverse businesses nearby.
My husband and I went for a lunch on Wednesday. There are a lot of tourists in Vancouver during summertime, and a bunch are hanging out at Granville Island. The place was reasonably busy - we did not have reservation and had to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated. We had signature Caesar and hot water with lemon to drink. Caesar was pretty spicy, but delicious. My husband got Fish & Chips and I had Pesto Linguine with shrimps to substitute chicken. Serving time was pretty fast for how busy the place was, about 15 minutes. Fish and Chips was tasty, with cod covered with thin layer of crispy batter and fries that were pretty salty - I like that in fries. Pesto Linguine was rich in sauce, perfect texture, and shrimps tasted nice. One thing that bothered me a bit was that pasta had a specific smell due to feta being grated on top, but that was not bad. Its more like an unusual characteristic that made this dish special. We had Skor Sundae for dessert and it was very very good. We shared one portion and it was a smart decision. It tasted amazing with caramel poured on top, pieces of chopped peanuts and Skor. Also, gelato was of nice quality, really flavorful and not overly sweet. This place definitely deserves 5 stars. Its the third time we return here and well keep going back.
This location is pretty good, if you decide to sit outside you will have a nice view. The food is nice but the service is not really good.
Excellent staff service, delicious food, nice environment, reasonably priced.
Nice for a summer date night on the patio, if you want a place with a view. They have some items from the former Bridges menu which I love (hot honey Calabrese pizza!)I tried the green goddess salad and it was very good. My partners steak frites were good as well. The staff were nice and friendly and the food came out quickly. When it gets cold outside, they turn on heaters so youre completely fine. I thought the menu was surprisingly affordable which was nice.
Restaurant is beautiful, with an amazing view. Food was 10/10, so many awesome menu options. Service was great!
nice place, friendly staff and amazing food. what else can you ask for. sit at the patio area for great views
You must try the Spicy Ahi Tuna Sandwich! We had a very enjoyable lunch here. Great selection of beers and other drinks. My wife enjoyed the Hugo!
The patio is awesome. Come at opening time to get a patio seat or make reservations. It does a bit chilly with the wind so bring a cardigan. Theres dog friendly tables at the outter bits of of the patio.Service was a bit slow, I think because a lot of the staff are new and theyre still getting the hang of things but it was fine for us since we were there to enjoy the nice weather.
The food was super tasty and the patio was absolutely gorgeous to sit at. Plenty of umbrellas to keep you both dry and shady (depending on the weather). Service was friendly and helpful. My only criticism is how long it took for us to get our orders. We ordered a standard meal (drinks, apps, mains, and a desertbut were there for nearly 3 hours as we waited nearly 45 minutes between courses. The food and scenery was pretty amazing though, so Id still come back.
Outstanding service! Excellent food! Amazing views! Theyve done an awesome job of revitalizing this iconic Granville Island spot. Its all new!
Had a pretty good lunch here. The location couldn’t be much better sitting on false creek watching the boats go by. There was a 10 minute wait to get a table but when we got in about 1/3 of the tables were empty. Maybe they are still staffing up and couldn’t support a full house. The servers were all super friendly and the menu had some nice options. I got the Halloumi sandwich which was a nice summer time choice and something I’ve never had before. My wife got nachos with half of the default toppings removed. Overall, Great location, solid menu and good ambiance.
We went for a double date night and decided to check out the new location. It was so nice, our server I forgot his name but he was amazing we spent a while there and the views were gorgeous ! Definitely check it out. Food was tasty and the drinks were great for happy hour !
An incredible restaurant that merges Bridges legacy with Tap & Barrels philosophy. An amazing artistic space that that is awe inspiring, with impeccable hospitality, warm and gracious service, amazing food and great value! Every seat in the house has an amazing view and a unique feel. Best staff in the city, people who really care!! This is exactly what Granville island and our city needed!
Had the green goddess halloumi bowl and the mint and cucumber gin and tonic. Both were wonderful and the server was excellent.
Really nice place down at the Grandville Market. Tasty food, nice drinks (especially the beers are recommended & an awesome view. Sunset harbor view is something to go for. Friendly staff as well! Recommended!
Great place, great location, great service & delicious drinks! 🍹🍷🥃🍽We went yesterday for happy hour, and got a great seat out on the patio! Perfect view of the marina. We had lunch and the food 🍔was delicious. Our server Jamie was awesome too! 👏🏻Can’t wait to come back!
Great vibe, good food. Staff was very friendly. Good service even though it was packed when we were there. Good experience!
I came here for opening day and was not disappointed. Not only did I get Rock Star parking, but had a rock star server too. Beryl was so enthusiastic and was clearly on their A game. I absolutely loved the warm feeling inside and decor. This will no doubt be my top spot to come this summer
This restaurant is guaranteed to be THE Vancouver hotspot of the summer. You can tell they have obsessed over every last design detail and the service and genuine hospitality is top notch.Whether youre one of the two incredible waterfront patios, in the massive bar, or in the dining room, you get to enjoy fresh air and incredible views from every single seat.We cant wait to come back!
The mango and strawberry sorbet tasted great but they ran out of cups so my husband had to get his scoop in a cone. Also, the girl who served us said they ran out of spoons and ran to the other end of the restaurant to retrieve one.All in the meanwhile, she left my sorbet out of the freezer and it was melting slowly. Would have been nice if she left my sorbet in the cold temperature while she was running around for five minutes.
We sat on their pet-friendly patio with a beautiful view of the harbour for dinner. Food was delicious, we ordered the salmon burger and the fish and chips. Both were cooked well and brought out quickly. For drinks we had the Phillip’s Dinosaur BlackBerry Sour Ale, Granville Island Cypress Honey Lager, and the Patina Mango Guava Hefeweizen. The sour ale and the honey lager were great and the hefe had really good mango flavour. Servers were very kind and friendly and very accommodating with our dogs. 12/10 would recommend.
Its a beautiful experience! So pretty to sit on the porch looking at the boats and bridge! 🌉Food on the other hand was not good. Shame! Mussels and fries were good, beautifully cooked, but wild salmon tasted weird, not like a salmon at all (couple of tables down, other couple also send salmon dish away). Waitress was very nice and friendly, she recommended to change the dish, so we ordered mushrooms and truffle pasta, or something like that. My steak dish was alright, asked for medium rare, but got fully rare (not a problem, I still liked it), but the dish itself looked very sad and boring! Asparagus was bad, tasted old and too salty on both dishes. Once I finished my dish we were hoping that pasta will end our evening on the good note, but after an hour sitting and drinking, we realized that dish is not coming 🤷🏼 view and patio definitely a plus, but thats all.
First time here and the experience was alright. We booked a reservation and announced our arrival. Was told it would be just a few minutes to be seated. ~20 minutes had passed so we followed up, and the hostess reacted as if she just realized we had arrived. 5 minutes later we were seated. I was excited to try one of the many truffle-infused menu options, so I opted for the truffle burger. While the burger was good, I did not taste truffle at all. My friend ordered the truffle pasta and barely tasted any truffle. My red wine also tasted like it came from a bottle that had been sitting open for a few days. All in all, I was still hungry after my meal. Our server however was hilariously great and made up for the shortcomings.
If you’re looking for a nice view by the water, this is a great location! But if you’re looking for great food as well, maybe look somewhere else. The food was of course priced high but came out at staggered times for our party and was lacking seasoning and flavour. The spinach salad is definitely one to avoid as it was basically undressed spinach with a few toppings at the bottom. The fish and chips is also quite inconsistent with the portion size. You could come short while the people beside you get big pieces but still have to pay $23.The waiter and hostess were nice, no issue with staff!
