Bridge End Gardens - Park and Garden in Cambridge, United Kingdom
This is A great place to visit especially if you live locally beautiful gardens and it gives away the fruit and vegetables they grow local people can help there selves but they dont what a waste of great produce
A real gem and is free, lovely gardens, Dutch garden and maze, lots to see, suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, toilets available and has the Fry Galley on entering at the side of the blue house, check online first to see when open.
Great place for a picnic & letting children run around. Still looking fairly good despite the drought. Playground nearby
Ideal for a lunchtime stroll. Or to lose kids in the maze!
Half Cut theatre play of much ado about nothing in Bridge End gardens, it was fabulous. I recommend finding them for next play around Saffron Walden.
Beautiful gardens this hidden away place is spectacular. Different gardens around every corner and a wonderful maze. So peaceful away from modern day noise and to hear the birds singing. Wonderful.
Visited on Bank Holiday Monday. I fill the garden was a little disappointing for the time of year. But I can only think in high season it would look fantastic. I would recommend this for a day out for the hole family. Only one issue there should be toilets on site or at least direction to the nearest ones.
Went out for the day and visit here the bridge end gardens for a couple of hours. Very nice display of tulips . Saw a cheeky squirrel. And went through the maze which was quite fun. Especially if you had kids. But lovely grounds to walk around . Would have been even better if we came more into the year , so we could see other flowers in bloom . But thus is definitely the place to go for a couple of hours . If you want to get out of the house . I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. Or anyone. And there is a car park 8 mins from the gardens called Swan meadow car park. Its free on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Also if you want you could walk around town and here the bells go from the church which sound wonderful. You cant take your dog unfortunately and less its a guide dog .
Wonderfull place, nice to walk around and enjoy all the plants. Free entree
Really lovely gardens. Its fab theres been investment in paths and restoration works. Would be great to see what the redevelopment plans were and how far on the journey they are.Being late March, we probably werent seeing the gardens at their best. Some interesting history is displayed on boards, although I would have like to see more across the site.Overall, it is a nice experience that is available without charge, although a donation is encouraged. I would suggest that a way is found to set an optional entry fee as others do, but if doing so, need to lay out a plan for the ongoing.
Beautiful and peaceful. Great place to watch the world go by. Also has the maze for a bit of fun as well
Such a beautiful part of Saffron Walden. My nephew was disappointed the maze wasnt open.
Always a fantastic place to visit. Beautifully maintained and we love the kitchen garden
very nice and calm place to visit. small garden but very well organised. hard to find the entrance. relax feeling while visiting the garden.
A lovey little park for a visit with or without kids. Our little boy loves exploring all round the trees and the maze. Lots a little paths and hidden gardens to explore.
A lovely place made up of 4-5 lovingly maintained interconnected gardens. Theyre all open now, including the vegetable garden and full maze which is a lot of fun getting to the middle then walking to the tower to look over the other gardens. There are various ways to get into the gardens along Castle Street, to the side of the Eight Bells pub, or via Catons Lane car park. Either way, youll be delighted by this secret little piece of heaven and tranquility.NB - ignore the signs for no dogs on one of the entrances - as long as you keep them on a lead (and clear up any messthen thats fine. This is all free and maintained by local volunteers. Take your litter home, and respect the work thats gone into the gardens.
This was a lovely day out but very confusing. We had to go to the tourist info centre to find out how to get there. You have to park up (we used the long stay car park). Garden was very nice and we had fun in the maze however website states dogs welcome and as we left saw a sign that only appeared on an alternative entrance/exit that stated no dogs allowed. I would also suggest not going on a Monday if you want to do anything else because alot of places in the area seemed shut on this day.
Really lovely gardens. Very interesting layout consisting of seven unique areas. Also has a great Maze.
Awesome place to take the little ones, our 2 and 7 year old loved it. Great free parking close by and a play park too! Lots of places to have a picnic and amazing scenery all round.
Very pretty and peaceful. Lots of bees on the lavender and pretty water fountains.
So beautiful and can sit and watch the world pass by. Seeing people wander about with little ones or seeing older kids playing their version of gide and seek. Gorgeous flowers and so many places to sit, so many nooks and crannies to hide and retreat from the everyday. We came quite late so wasnt so busy but could imagine in the school holidays or weekends could be very busy.
A great surprise. Fantastic gardens! 10/10
What a marvellous find - very well kept and a joy to discover the many areas and sit a while
Well, I can only tell you that Bridge end gardens was a salvation during quarentine. Mainly because it offers a more guarded informal picnic area, and for the young ones, it offers an amazing Maze, I must admit it is very weird being in a maze with PPE. As you feel like children are being followed by mad doctor or scientists. But overall a fun save experience.
Beautifully presented and maintained. Visitors were very respectful of social distancing.Great facilities within the village of Saffron Walden. When the weather is good this is a fantastic spot to enjoy the sun in beautiful surroundings
The Bridge End Gardens in Saffron Walden are beautiful to explore 😃
Bridge end gardens is a lovely space to while away some time. The gardens are beautiful, the hedge maze is fun and there is lots of space in the park area for picnics and games. It always seems really quiet when we go. We tend to get lots of space to ourselves. One of my favourite spots in saffron walden.
Stunning garden, however the gates were shut half an hour early.
Lovely tranquil place just on the outskirts of the town. So many little pathways to wander along. Nice spring flowers and will probably be amazing with all the summer flowers.
A lovely set of small formal gardens hidden away on the north edge of the town, run by town volunteers and free to enter. The maze is surprisingly good fun even for adults or big kids 😊
These are a lovely set of small formal(ishgardens close to the centre of Saffron Walden. I believe they are owned by a charity and run and maintained by the community. The gardens are split into a number of rooms each having its own style and character. If you are visiting Saffron Walden I recommend that you visit the gardens, if gardens are your thing.
Lovely stop off on the way back from a weekend break in Norfolk heading back to Essex. Highly recommend. Beautiful gardens
Extraordinary to find formal gardens of the type and quality usually associated with a grand stately home, in the the centre of a small market town. Built by Victorian Quakers and maintained by Saffron Walden council in the 21st century, for everyone to enjoy. Free of charge. Bravo!
Beautiful gardens, generally a peaceful haven, hidden and tucked away behind one of the main streets in town. I attended a delightful musical event there which made a perfect setting. Saffron Waldens hidden gem. Definitely recommend finding this lovely place.
Great garden close to the middle of town and its free to get in - whats not to like?
Tranquil oasis. I came into the garden via Castle Road through a tiny arched doorway so was suprised how vast it is. I arrived Sunday evening so the maze portion of the garden was closed. Would be worth a visit if you are visiting saffron walden.
Lovely secret garden style with lots of different sections to explore. Found it by accident on my first visit to Saffron Walden and had a nice wander around.
Beating gardens and I love the rose garden. Toilates and water available. Not dog friendly.
Lovely gated off from the public high hedge maze. It is not very big but big enough to gather your thoughts as you wander through it.The walled garden is very nice too. Interesting statues and topiary.A hidden gem!
Lovely garden area. Clearly well looked after all year round, very tidy no visible litter which is nice to see. The maze is a great feature with plenty of fun to be had. Will be returning very soon. Highly recommend a visit
This is a very lovely space, there is a playground for the kids, a lovely formal garden to stroll around and even a 180 year old maze.
Some beautiful mature trees, classic romantic garden with a large walled kitchen garden, bees, exotic fruit, several ponds...Maze open on special occasions..Could see it all in 2-3hrs, but you could fall asleep on the grass in the shade of trees. I recommend it!
One of my favourite places in Saffron Walden. Its small, but the army of volunteers and gardeners have done a great job. Good place for a slow afternoon wander. Saw plenty of snowdrops over the winter and theres a decent daffodil display. As spring progresses, you see a selection of flowers come and go. Daffodfils give way to tulips, then a marvellous laburnum arch in the centre and sweet smelling wysteria bushes. The scented rose garden is very beautiful. Basically, there is something seasonal to see every visit.
Lovely gardens to explore, in Saffron Walden the gardens are well layed out , are very peaceful to walk around , you can also take a book to read and relax in the specious well kept gardens. The teams of volunteers work really hard all year round to help with the upkeep of these beautiful gardens The walled garden is also a lovely area to celebrate a wedding reception.
Beautifully laid out public gardens. We had a leisurely walk though several of the features, and could have spent more time enjoying the rest of the areas. Pleasant views throughout with lots of interesting little corners as well as wide expanses of well cut lawns and carefully laid out flower beds.
Very hidden but when you find it, amazing. Very beautiful.
Absolutely stunning the day I went. There’s an entrance next to 8 bells.
Beautiful public gardens for all to enjoy.
Lovely place for kids. Played for ages on the park. Played football in a big green open space then walked round the gardens. Picnic ed on soft lawn then traveled round the maze. Good day out. Shame we couldnt park in the car park.
Great gardens clean restrooms and fantastic views wonderful place
