Brewers Fayre Rising Sun in Piripiri
Description
Privilege
Kids eat breakfast free with an adult - so for a family of 4 its under 20GBP for all you can eat breakfast - whats not to like? You have to ask for poached or boiled eggs and for vegetarian food - but the serving staff are quick, friendly and helpful.
MoreThis establishment isnt open.Breakfast whilst at Premier Inn is apparently in this location but after this time its locked.Very disappointing as not mentioned when booking accommodation
MoreNot even open despite the Brewers Fayre site saying it was. Dont bother going. Hospitality business???????
MoreStayed at many Premier inns around the country and eaten at Brewers Fayre many times but this one would rate one of the lowest, on our first night we had the steak and ale pie, the pastry was like concrete and inedible and the full breakfast next morning was very disappointing quality and we had to ask and wait for staff to top up eggs etc, the butter was big lumps cut from a large block so we didnt bother with breakfast again.
MoreOh dear! 😫 Poor food, awful decor, outdated with sticky tables we had to clean ourselves. None of the hand sanitisers were working??? 1 staff member on duty out front doing the best she could and yet still polite & efficient, but she shouldnt be put in that situation, poor girl 🤷 DONT have the brown salad, (see picture 😱)
MoreGreat breakfast, plenty of choice.
Divide that One star by Ten. Service- Rubbish. Staff attidude-rubbish. If my name was above the door of this placei there would be questions that would need answeiing.
MoreBreakfast is great and so are the staff, however, evening times are completely the opposite. Wait times of 2 hrs for food, staff dont have a clue whats going on at any given time. As for asking for a drink at the bar if its gone 10pm youll get told its closed. If its a pint you want pop over to The Spirit Store on Whippendall Rd or food go to the Harvester on Watford Rd.
MoreDidnt even want to give them one star to be honest! Well talk about Fawlty Towers! We stayed next door for 3 nights, the only thing the bar had going for it was the aircon! The place was filthy, staff had no idea what they were doing, tables had glasses, cups and plates on for hours, tables were sticky, a pigeon came in and the member of staff that took it out never even washed his hands before going back behind the bar! The toilets, well they were something else, the amount of people that walked in there then straight back out said it all. On the one day we met up with approx 38 family members for a 60th lunch it was bedlam, it had been booked for weeks and they were not prepared, even a member of our group ended up carrying food out as they didnt have a clue, when it came out the orders were so wrong! The hotel was great apart from the heat but go to the Harvester down the road, l wouldnt even bother with The Rising Sun 😬
MoreThe food was horrible the service was horrible a man quite his job through are meal and 35 of our family members got full refunds also the waitress through a menu at another customer. Futhermore the food was horrible the kids burger was rock hard and the food was mainly boiled with no seasoning i WARM YOU! Do not go to this place if you do get prepared for a terrible time good luck :and we also ordered 5 chicken tikka and with no rice
MoreBreakfast was a shambles. When we arrived at 9.30 there were no plates, cutlery, glasses or mugs. Food was okay. Staff were abrasive at best but may have been understaffed. Everything was so poorly organised and for a £60 bill my friends had to eat with their hands. Would not reccomend.
MoreDiscussing food steak was full of gristle and fat with no meat eggs are not cooked properly sausage was burnt dont eat here
MoreAs the only two in the restaurant we were taken to a dirty sticky table. We ordered 2 prawn cocktail, nachos and a burger. It then starts. The first thing they bring is the main, (the burgernothing else. The burger was okay the chips were a bit raw. They forgot the starters, and one of the main meals. We then explained we wanted starters before the main, so they took the burger and brought starters. The prawn cocktail starter partially arrived, without the bread (not sure what they did with that), no plates just literally a glass. Didnt bother to ask where the rest of the starter was as we could see getting anything was a result at this point.Next Mains. Just one main arrived, they had forgotten we had ordered two mains, loaded beef nachos and a burger. We asked for the other main and they went to go start making it while leaving the other main on the table, they the brought us a different main from what was ordered. We gave up on that and sent back the wrong main and settled for just one of us eating. As the only people in the restaurant with 6 staff that amount of wrong was mental. We paid and left. One of us had managed to get food and that seemed to look good to the restaurant. No apology or mention of all the mistakes from them at all.Definitely not something we would ever repeat.
MoreStayed at the premier inn next door over the weekend(10th-12thJune 2022and used The Rising Sun a lot of the time during our stay. Firstly, we used the restaurant for breakfast both mornings as it has a good deal with the Premier Inn. We chose to drink at the Rising Sun on the Saturday night and it couldn’t have been a better choice! Drinks and snacks at the bar were reasonably priced and the customer service we received, especially from bar manager Catherine, was great. Catherine went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome, from remembering our drink orders to insisting on taking over cleaning up the mess we made and the drinks I spilled! After working till late at night, Catherine was working the following morning when we went down for breakfast and was still working just as hard, with a smile still on her face. Would definitely book the same premier inn again if I came back to Watford, just for the Rising Sun! (apologies if I’ve spelled Catherine the wrong way!!)
MoreTotally unprepareat breakfast time on 2 consecutive days. Lack of orange juice, coffee machine seemed to be permanently empty, no cutlery, dirty tables, lack of bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns, however the food when it was available was lovely.
MoreExtremely dirty. No hygiene at all. I wonder why the restaurant is closed. It is a must that health and safety and local environment and local council do a check in the kitchen . Feel sad for people who are not aware.
MoreThe sun has set on this Brewers Fayre. We visited well before lockdown and enjoyed a midweek meal, we knew there were some issues due to covid/staffing etc so phoned in advance. We were told what was missing on the menu but thought we would still take a chance (wish we hadnt). On entering the first thing the manager told us was there would be a 45 mins wait for food, fair enough, we have waited longer before. However lots of things missing on the menu, poor communication between table staff and kitchen staff, burnt veg sausages, starters did not arrive, food that did arrive was cold. The only thing that helped was our waiter was very polite and apologetic (but I suspect thats because he has had lots pf practice), also told us they were struggling to recruit with some staff having joined the nearby Harvester. In the end the manager acknowledged the issues were unacceptable and refunded the cost of the food. Been to lots of Brewers Fayres and always great value with good pub grub, having worked in hospitality and the restaurant sector it doesnt take a lot to get the basics right, but unfortunately for this Fayre the sun has already set.
MoreShort of staff. Service not good, should be told when seated if items not available on menu. Waited quite a while for glass of water, had to ask twice. Some food cold, not sure why.
MoreFood took a while but it was very late and busy otherwise would if give 5 stars staff was polite and a tidy little red head works there 🤪
MoreDecide to shut at a minutes notice. Leaving hotel guests at the Premier Inn disappointed. No food or drink. Very poor the Premier Inn doesnt notify people before they book a nights stay.
MoreMet a work colleague here on a weekday evening for a beer and a bite to eat. The atmosphere was good for a week day and the staff were friendly. The food was decidedly average but okay for an unfussy person. There was a long list of things they didnt have. So long in fact it may have been easier to produce a shorter menu whilst supplies were difficult to get! All in all an enjoyable evening but I probably wouldnt choose to go there for a date night meal.
MorePossibly the worst restaurant weve ever been too.. Read most of the 1 star reviews and theyre all relevant to our visit today. Rank
MoreLovely food and a good selection despite the Brexit/haulier supply issues. The restaurant was cold at first but once flagged it was rectified. The staff were kind and incredibly helpful.
MoreWent in at 22:57 knowing I was late to get a drink before they closed at 23:00 but expected them to be open.... They had already closed the tills and I was advised to go to the vending machine, not great in my eyes. They state they are open till 23:00 but this doesnt include the kitchen. There is nowhere that I could see on the website saying that they stop serving food at 21:30 but tbh I wouldnt have wanted their food. All generic food that has not considered healthy eating unless you are happy with a salad. Thankfully theres a good sushi place that delivers to the hotel attached in the area.
MoreWent for breakfast at 10am and there was latterly scraps left.Continental: Bagels were rock hard. No jam or nutella for toast for toddler ( totally ran out Juices were empty and had to wait until finished breakfast until refilled, no cereal left for a full serving.Hot food: all cold. Left on offer was salty hardly cooked bacon, very pale sausages that were hard to cut, cold soggy hash browns, scraps of black pudding, and waited for 5 mins for a fried egg. No beans as all that was left was stuck to the bottom of the dish. I didnt try the mushrooms or tomatoes but friend said tomatoes were just warm. Not cooked.Cleanliness: Nope. Up at the hot food there were hairs on the hot plates ( I found 3 long black ones), tables were sticky, ours never got cleared and we were sat for 2 hours chattingStaff: 2 members of staff... thats why it was so poor. The poor man was run ragged. As he filled the juce for me he explained it was just the 2 of them. I asked if others had not turned up for work and he said it wasnt that but they physically dont have the staff. Only 2 rostered on
MoreIll start with the positive, the waiting staff were very polite and courteous. Unfortunately, thats the only good thing about our experience here. Now, for the negatives....Considering the restaurant was quite empty, the staff chose to sit us close to another table where 2 of the 4 members of a family were coughing repeatedly. Had they not have been finishing their desserts, we would have moved ourselves. There were a whole list of items not available on the evening we ate here, which kept getting longer as the evening (for example - only once my curry had been brought out to me, did they tell me that they had run out of mango chutney). The food was of poor quality. I had the curry and my husband had the mixed grill. Now dont get me wrong, we were not expecting Michelin standard food, but the poppadom I was given was soggy, the naan bread was rock hard and they had run out of mango chutney. My husbands steak had been so over cooked it thudded when you tapped it with cutlery and there were hardly any chips. It was clear that there was some issue in the kitchen as we were sat at our table for over an hour before we received our main courses.Needless to say that we did not opt to stay for dessert or another drink.Would not eat here again and would not recommend.
MoreFriendly and helpful staff. The fry up wasnt the best as it had been sitting a while on hotplate. Eggs were congealed and dry.
MoreI used to eat here 15 years ago with my partner and her grandad, we went back for memories sake, the portion sizes seem alot smaller but still amazing experience, great variety and quick service.
MoreSlow service, lukewarm food of dubious taste. Difficulty even in settling the bill. Who could ask for less? Nothing like past very happy visits to this brand across the UK.
MoreWe stopped here for food one evening. The food was delicious and the staff very welcoming and accommodating. Good atmosphere too. We will definitely call again.
MoreStinking carpet. You wouldnt believe how dirty it was until you saw it. There were black marks where all the traffic went. Worse than any nightclub Ive seen. Sticky floors . Sticky tablesFood was OK. But I think it came from packets .
MoreAte food here last night (6th August 21), as soon as I got back to my Premier Inn room so roughly 20 minutes after eating I was physically sick & my husband didnt feel well after either. So wont be going down for breakfast!
MoreThe table that we were shown to had loose legs and wobbled all over the place, after putting napkins under it the waiter thought that would be ok,it wasnt.our food was brought out in seemingly 2 minute intervals and parts of these were cold. When I asked for some salt the waiter never returned. I saw him chatting in the kitchen while searching for the salt myself.we wont be going back.
MoreNot very often I give a score like this but I felt their breakfast service was awful; recommend not having breakfast here until either buffet resumes or they sort their issues out.Arrived at 7:45 with plans to leave by 8:45 as we had a booking at Warner Bros Studio HP Tour. They took our drinks order and then a few minutes later our food - 6 hot breakfasts, 1 cereal, 1 yoghurt, 1 toast, 1 croissant with jam, 1 pancakes with berry mix, and a pain au chocolat.Drinks arrived few minutes later but with 1 orange juice too many, the only coffee had milk instead of being black and a hot chocolate hadnt been mixed so balls of powder.Around 8:15 we received the cereal, "toast" (if this was steak it would be classed as blue), the jam but no croissant, and informed they didnt have the requested yoghurt - no alternative offered.Around 8:25 we enquired about the hot food and lack of pastries/pancakes; we were told the food was being cooked and the waiter returned with a pot of berry mix but not on pancakes (these were tart, partly frozen, but eaten as time was now getting tight). At 8:40 nearly an hour after arriving we received our hot food. For two of our party they mixed the item quantities up so had to sort their plates out, every fried egg ordered was over cooked (2 had large bits of shell), meat sausages were over cooked but veggie ones under-cooked, and mushrooms under-cooked. Overall very underwhelming but eaten as we were starving and had to leave. Still no pancakes or pastries.Giving up on the original items we asked for some croissant and pain au chocolat "to go" thinking we could fill ourselves on our drive but these turned up after a 5-10 minutes wait warm and chewy; we suspect theyd been put in a microwave for some weird reason. Before you wonder whether my 1 star is a bit critical and we are being "picky", my score is also based on other minor aspects such as never being offered any drinks other than the initial order (we did ask for more but it wasnt his station and he didnt pass the request on), and every other table around us were similarly complaining about the wait and incorrect orders. To me this highlights not that we were unlucky, but that the entire breakfast system was broken. The staff all looked stressed and busy but thats probably just trying to fix all the issues.Even taking into account 2 of our party were children and therefore free, the food wasnt worth the wait or money.
MoreI would not recommend anyone eating here. The whole place is absolutely filthy. The carpet is black and very sticky. In these times of Covid, I was under the impression things had to be deep cleaned, that has definitely not happened here. The food was less than acceptable too. There were black bits all over my chicken from the grill, which I assume was as dirty as the carpet. The "fluffy mash" was more like a brick and the whole meal was cool.Never again!!!!
MoreShocking service and a very rude manageress, food for a table of 4 delivered at different times although ordered together, sides delivered after mains were nearly finished. Complained and told if you don’t like it I’ll take the food and you can leave! Very poor service from an overpriced lower end food establishment.
MoreThe carpet was so dirty that the chair was stuck to it as well as your feet when you walked through. My Yorkshire pudding was hard and could not be eaten. The manager was rude to his colleagues in from of the diners. The saving grace was the waitress.
MoreSuper friendly staff. Weve been here many times and staff could be so so but maybe a new team as the staff were awesome and attentive. Lovely food and pleasant decor. Always a good place to go for food. Well be back soon!
MoreChristmas dinner. Never again. Waited 40 mins for starters. Mains was a disappointment. Food at self serving counter, was sparse and what was there went cold while waiting, for foods to be replenished.Service was non existent, we had to chase to get our starter & dessert. Clear our own tables after starter and mains.I paid to get distressed instead of a relaxed Christmas dinner.
MoreVery poor. firstly festive offer leaflet is very misleading and questionable and buyone get one free is NOT applicable to festive meals at all. Secondly ordered one standard and one large meal and got two standard one was replaced with the correct meal as other diner was finishing their meal so unable to eat together as such and forget the parsnip mash as advertised its standard mash no hint of parsnip anywhere on plate... One dinner finished and several other tables were cleared we had to ask the waiter for our dessert which he knew nothing about until I showed him the receipt. Very very poor and unfortunately we will not be giving them another visit
MoreI stayed at the hotel adjoining the restaurant for 5 nights. Couple of the team members need more training and customer skills. However the manager was really good with my complaint, and dealt with it well.Food was good and Much better than I have had before from there. All in all good place but staff and equipment I.e. tills need work
MoreI really enjoy visiting after a hard day at work. Its the perfect venue for family, friends or indeed just a quiet solo drink to relax an unwind.I come here for dinner from time to time and always have a pleasant meal. The staff here are all really friendly and helpful - thank you everyone for lovely service!
MoreOverall, not the best dining experience. We were waiting over an hour for our food, some of which was cold. The lamb shank was overly fatty too, even though it is a naturally fatty meat. The service was slow and there werent very many staff members available. However, the place was clean and one of the courses was taken off of the bill.
MoreBudget and value for money; clean and tidy and friendly staff.Easy access for anyone with Mobility issues. Situated next to a hotel on the West side of Watford this is a friendly pub that offers cost effective meals I deal for families or a catch up with friends. There is parking here, but is chargeable - however these charges you can get back when using the hotel or bar.
MoreBooked online but arrived half an hour early & we were seated immediately which we appreciated and a table that was easy to get my wheelchair into. We were impressed at the choice of the food and drinks menu. My brother ordered and brought back our drinks. We were absolutely starving so unsure if the wait for the food was long, or its due to needing to eat so desperately. Either way the food made up for it. Delicious burgers and sides. My brother loved his fishcakes too. We had no room for anything else! Well definitely be back to a Brewers Fayre and would come here again if we were in the area.
MoreI have to say perfectly acceptable. Massively improved since the first disaster visit a year ago.The selection on the menu is good and theres lots to chose from.Hubster had the ribs and said they were absolutely fine.I had the burrito bowl and I was genuinely impressed. Chicken was cooked really very well, fresh salad, tasty rice and beans, and tortilla, couldnt finish it the bowl was massive. Really very very good, better than Ive had in some Mexican restaurants. So thumbs up, will definitely go back.
Moreme and my family decided to go down for a nice meal only to be greeted by no one for 10 mins and once we got served we waited 20 mins for food only for the food to be cold and I got served pink chicken. When I complained the manager didn’t even say sorry, only handed my food. The food to say the least was disgusting. They had ran out of roast chicken, which they didn’t inform us until ordering. The service was horrible. The manager was so rude what a horrible man! I would give this place 0 stars
MoreSome bad points but generally good overall. Breakfast selection is very good with both buffet style continental or cooked breakfasts with all you can eat and drink. Plenty of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt as well as traditional cooked options. Several juices and smoothies to choose from as well as a simple to use fresh bean to cup coffee machine offering cappuccinos, espressos, lattes etc which is also unlimited. Service f or the breakfast shift is excellent and always polite. I have not tried the lunch service so cant comment on that. The dinner service is generally good with excellent food and a full bar, ordering needs to be done from the bar. Sometimes its not always easy to find a member of staff to take orders but when you do they are always very professional and polite.
MoreCustomer service was rubbish. It was sat night and the place was busy and there was only one person on the bar. Once we managed to order our both my wife and I orders were wrong by the time our correct meals arrived our kids had finished theirs and mine still came out wrong. We were not the only people complaining as the double burgers they sold was only coming out with one burger as they had run out of the correct burgers and rather than being honest they were just sending out a smaller burger. All the staff customer service as appalling apart from on shining light of a lady that was amazing if it had not been for her the place would have fallen apart
MoreWent there last night for Festive Menu. What a joke. Food was from carvery which was dried up and uncooked. Have had stomach pains all night from uncooked sprouts which were not fresh but obviously frozen. Lack of staff. We asked for fresh food to be put out and were told five minutes which turned into twenty then they ran out of food. No more roast potatoes. The trifle was like mush. The only thing which was edible was the kids food which was spaghetti bolognese and the prawn cocktail starters. Dont even deserve one star. Big disappointment.
