Brennan's Wave in Missoula
Description
Privilege
Pretty darn fun good stories I enjoyed it
Brennans wave is an artificial wave created in the Clark Fork River near the junction of Higgins Ave. and Front Street in Missoula Montana. It is popular with local surfing enthusiasts. There is an overlook built on the Riverside trail along Caras Park where observers can get a birds-eye view of surfers surfing on the way. Observers also enjoy watching the surfers from The pedestrian walkway on the Higgins Street bridge.
MoreA masterpiece of modern engineering. Not sure how the water feels about what is being done to it but it does look cool. How much money did it cost again? Who knows
MoreCrazy fun, go and you and the family will enjoy.
Swim above the wave for warmer water, below the wave for super cool water. Trust me.
MoreNice spot to watch the surfers (or try yourself). Not much shade on the deck overlooking the wave.
MoreCool spot.
I’m not a surfer, but I enjoy the spot as it’s a diverse crowd of amazed tourists and cool residents. Lots of action to watch.
MoreAwesome spot to watch the surfers!
It was exactly as described. We went on a beautiful day. We had a picnic lunch and watch the young and old alike surf. We walked from one end of the park to the other. (I can only imagine how crowded it would be on a nice warm Saturday). A lot of people in suits eating lunch today. I assume from nearby offices. Lots of people walking dogs, running, riding bikes. The Merry go Round was closed. Not sure the hours. Bathrooms were really clean. You did need to pay for parking but I can understand why with a limited amount of spots. A definite must to see.
MoreFantastic Park! I heard about it and had to stop in town when I was driving by on a trip. Very friendly area kind people and delicious food nearby. Great atmosphere and seem to be many boaters putting in when I was there. I would totally make this part of a trip if you’re in the area! What an amazing city and to have the resources for this nearby makes it an even more awesome town! We also biked the bike path when we visited. Great time
MoreI mean its a rapid. Whats not to like? Its water. Confirmed wavy
Cool
My 2 boys had a great time swimming and floating on this wave. Great place to cool off on a hot day.
MoreThere is a nice observation deck above the wave. Good spot to practice surfing. Most the time there is more than one person here which adds to the safety factor of going here. Fun and entertaining spot to just go and watch people if you arent willing to jump on a board. Caras park is right there as well so sometimes you can hear local music playimg as you surf (or watch people surf).
MoreWow
it kept us entertained for hours, no lie
Awesome spot!!
oh it is sin Caras Park in Missoula Montana A place where U can watch the Goofy inland folks SURF and in kayaks and actually kind of entertaining.
MoreGreat spot to sit and watch kayakers or surfers.
Fun location to sit and enjoy the view. You can stand at the overlook and look down at the water or you can climb down a few steps of rocks and have a seat. Nice place to watch the sunset during the summer. Its fun to watch kayakers and surfers on the wave.
Morepretty interesting to watch the people kayak or surfing the unique wave during the summer. Never see this kind of place anywhere else. Easy parking and cozy walk after dinner in the park. These is a brennans statues with introduction of his story, a nice Missoulian
MoreYes it is a man made wave. Boarders use it year round and it is right next to Caras Park and the nearby Carousel. Great spot to just watch floaters go through or fly over yourself. Next to downtown within walking distance of any attractions.
MoreThere are usually someone surfing or kayacking on the wave and is always a fun spot to hang out!
MoreFun to go over in a raft or tube, but only last a second. Surfing has pretty much taken the place of kayaking on the wave. More likely to see a lot of action in the spring and early summer. Gets too low in the late summer and fall.
MoreAwesome little water feature. Making the best with what they have and it works.
Love watching the people kayak during the summer.
Very unique location in Missoula which supports the local surfing community. It is a lot of fun to watch and just as much fun to join in.
MoreFun spot in Missoula. Primarily for surfing and kayaking. There is a nice overlook to watch from. There is almost always someone on the wave during the summer.
MoreEngineered standing wave for your kayaking and surfing delight
