Best Eggs Benedict & the Bananas Foster performance is spectacular. Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful decor! It’s great for Afternoon tea or a lunch date.
Fantastic, warm, friendly service, lovely ambience, incredible food! I’ve been there before for dinner but today it was breakfast - for 6 of us. We had a huge round table with infinity water refills… 5 had eggs Benedict which was served with perfectly runny yolks and a wonderful hollandaise sauce. Afterwards 2 of us had the amazingly rich flambéed bananas. I’ll highly recommend Brennans for dinner and now for breakfast. It was me and my wife’s Golden Wedding Anniversary and we were treated to a glass each of pink champagne.
Overall -tasty. Definitely fine dining. We didn’t have reservations and got a table with no problem in the courtyard on a Sunday morning. Turtles in the fountain were cool! Ordered the Panned Louisiana Rabbit - was just the right amount of food. I will say, the broccoli on it was interesting. Not slightly cooked. Expensive… but if you’re only in NOLA once, worth a try.
Brennan’s has a great ambience and great service. The courtyard is great for daytime seating and definitely is worth some photos. The menu sounded great and the food looked great however, I must say it was shockingly bland and needed salt. Furthermore, it was not hot which was disappointing. For this price point and in New Orleans I think there are many better options!
An amazing dining experience! Can’t miss the pink wall of Brennan’s as you’re walking on Royal Street. I made an online reservation for two for a Saturday night. We were seated in the Queen’s room, which featured a gorgeous blue wallpaper and photos of past Mardi Gras queens!Service was extremely prompt and attentive. I started with a fall cocktail, the Scarlett old fashioned ($13)with Rye, Sweet Potato Syrup, Angostura, Orange. For appetizers, we got the turtle soup ($13and seafood gumbo ($13). The staff was able to split the two appies in two so we were able to try them both! As the other reviews stated, both these dishes were quite salty… but still very delicious and flavourful. The turtle soup was so unique with the aged sherry on top enhancing its flavors. The seafood gumbo had a great amount of shrimp and oysters. Both very tasty! For the main entree, I got the lobster creole ($40). Florida Spiny Lobster, Creole Tomato Sauce, Mirliton-stuffed Head… phenomenal. Each bite of lobster tasted so fresh and the tomato sauce was tangy, sweet and went well with rice. The stuffed head was also very unique and delicious with rich umami. At this point we were stuffed but had to try their famous banana foster! Loved the table side presentation - be sure to eat it fast or it’ll melt quick! Simple but delicious.
I loved the blackened redfish entree!! It was very flavorful and out of this world! Also loved the flambé and banana’s foster. Will definitely go back. This restaurant is a must try if you are in New Orleans.
This place is out of this world! I cannot recommend it any more highly! The service was fantastic! The environment is superb. I absolutely recommend ordering the banana foster; trust me it will be worth it.
If youre ever in New Orleans and youve not been, you need to try Brennans!! The breakfast is amazing and dont think about leaving without having their WORLD FAMOUS BANANAS FOSTER - Bananas, Butter, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Rum, New Orleans Ice Cream Co. Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Flambéed Tableside professionally prepared at your table. Oh, and stop out back to see the turtles in the atrium. The kids will love it!
My favorite dish was blackened fish. The turtle soup and gumbo was a bit too salty for me. The grilled octopus i got bubkes of it. And that banana foster was all about the show, its like pouring 10 lbs of sugar into one banana, and one scoop of icecream soaked into the syrup, I almost choked on it. The staffs were very nice and service was fantastic.
When you are in town, you must stop by to eat. You cant go wrong with breakfast. Everything is fantastic, not a bad dish served here. Bananas foster with breakfast, of course!
This was by far the best birthday dinner Ive ever had! I felt so special and so loved by people I have never met before in my life! Thats an experience I wouldnt trade for the world! Everything about tonight was absolutely perfect! The food was incredible too! Best steak Ive ever had! And of course the beautiful bananas foster and the cotton candy mound were a sweet touch to an amazing evening 🍌💕
Had breakfast, not much to choose on the menu however the strawberry marscapone dish was delicious and wished there was more! The steak tar tar was delicious and we of course ordered the famous Banana Foster (that is only offered as a 2person dish). It was ok, in the end its just Banana and vanilla ice cream so not too exciting in flavors. But the experience in the flambay at the table was fun to watch.
Exceptional experience all around. The dining rooms and general area have been meticulously maintained such that I’m struggling to recall another restaurant anywhere kept to such a high standard.Food and service were brilliant. Cocktails were very good although I’d say they were just a touch underwhelming considering the outstanding quality of everything else. The food is prepared with a high degree of precision and expertise and didn’t disappoint— delicious, satisfying and beautifully presented.A fine restaurant which exemplifies New Orleans culture and cuisine.
Food is fantastic, huge wine booklet with lots of variety, and host is equally amazing. The thing that stands out to me the most is the sauces for any of the dishes. Chicken might have been a little bit too meaty/ tough for me, but its up to preferences. I love the cioppino! And of course try the turtle soup 🐢 and banana flambe. Host is very knowledgeable about the history and did the flambe right in front of us with plenty of flare 🔥 be sure to make reservations!
Love this place! We make sure to visit whenever we visit New Orleans. This time around we were celebrating my moms 81st birthday and she had a great time! Thank you for making her birthday special.
Found an amazing place for brunch actually my girlfriend found an amazing place for brunch as she was looking for it she said Joshua this is your type of food. So start it off with beef tartar that had a potato waffle underneath black garlic aioli beef tartar radishes and some type of greenery on top amazing. Then I had a version of the eggs benedict with the spinach on the base a red tomato a base Hollandaise sauce poach eggs and potato wedges. Outdoor seating was amazing to see the fountain that had turtles in it.
Amazing building and very good food and drinks. Had a set menu for a bachelor party. Sat in a private room with separate lounge. Was wonderful
Beautiful place, wonderful food, lovely people. The staff was very friendly and attentive, food was great, first time trying turtle soup and was so good. Will be back to try the bananas foster!
Service, very good. Food, great. But...Oyster shell in gumbo was blown off by servers. Then after bananas foster was made and played, we had to watch ice cream melt until we asked for spoons. NO EXCUSE for that at all. Oyster shell. Didnt want anything except recognition that it was there. Instead it was just picked up and disposed of.
Dinner at Tujagues last night lunch at Antoines today, and dinner at Brennans tonight. No doubt in my mind Brennans was the best dining experience, and please this is no insult to the others. I didnt say food I said dining experience. Before I ate the first bite I had a feeling. Its all due to the staff. But yes the food was outstanding. Turtle soup was the bomb, and tableside bananas foster was perfect. It was my wifes birthday and the entire staff showered us with kindness. Bravo
Spending several hours savoring an exquisite dinner in this historic restaurant is well worth it. Everyone raved about both the Turtle Soup and the Gumbo. The Smoked Scallops were a revelation - a nuanced hickory flavor without the heaviness of a bacon wrap. The Pork Tenderloin was perfect (barely medium rarewith a similar subtle smoky flavor. Hawaiian-style rolls are perfect for sopping up extra sauce. Of course, we had to have Bananas Foster, often imitated but the Brennan’s version is a flavor bomb that leaves you smiling.
How could I have left without the banana foster!!!I walked in as a single diner. They were not busy at all, but it was clear they didn’t want any of the walk ins having a table at the infamous restaurant area, so it was myself, and about 5 other single people next to each-other at the bar. Of course, I would’ve been happier at a table, but I did understand it. It was actually lovely to get talking to people next to me about New Orleans, so I really enjoyed myself.Bar staff were very friendly and sweet.m, and helped me with the order since I’m British and completely new to Nola food!It was breakfast so I had the eggs hussarde which was heavenly. The best eggs/breakfast dish I’ve ever had. I also had the gumbo which is supposed to be incredible here. There’s no denying it was extremely tasty, but perhaps gumbo isn’t my thing? Overall, I would recommend this place as a great stop. @diningnotdashing
My all-time favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Brennan’s never disappoints. Treated like family from the very moment we walked in. Brennan’s has the best wait staff and bartenders in the city. Eric is the very best and his Attention to detail impeccable. If you haven’t made a reservation at Brennan’s what are you waiting for?
I enjoyed the meal, but enjoyed even more the fun happening at the table nearby. They ordered the famous banana foster, my video captured the flames & part of the history shared by the waiter. It was interesting to learn that they polish the brass letters on the building frequently.
5 stars from all perspectives. Walked in without an appointment and I enjoyed the bar seat. You might experience some marching band just ran into the restaurant play and then left. Fun!
We enjoyed a beautiful + delicious brunch here over the weekend + you will want to make reservations! Service was so attentive and friendly .- knew the menu exceptionally well + accommodated for gluten free suggestions/requests.The “bubbles” were delicious, environment a bit dated but still an incredible experience. After all, Nicholas Cage was also here for brunch with his family, so that could also say something about the quality.Definitely recommend!
Every time we come to New Orleans brunch at Brennan’s is a must. This time we were served by Shelaine (sorry if I butchered that spelling)She was kind, attentive and made us feel right at home. We truly felt like we got the star treatment. As always the food was fantastic. We had the strawberry and creme, the croque madame and eggs Benedict. Then topped it all off with the famous bananas foster. Can’t wait to go back!
From the moment we stepped inside Brennan’s in New Orleans we experienced grief from our waiter. It was apparent that he was not fond of our group of 4 people. He seemed irritated just with us. He was condescending, rude, and obnoxious. There are always two sides to a story. I rarely write reviews and this was one of those times I feel that one was needed. It was my birthday and the waiter promised me the most exquisite meal in my life. The food was not that good. I am comparing it to other restaurants such as Commander Palace in New Orleans and Felix’s. I ordered eggs Sardou, which is a poached egg on top of an artichoke. One of the artichokes was not edible because I couldn’t even cut through it. My wife asked for coffee and creamer. The creamer that was sent smelled bad and looked even worse when she poured it into the coffee. I took a picture. Besides my stomach starting to hurt during my visit at Brennan’s, I had to deal with an irritated staff after my waiter complained about us to other co-workers. We received butter and no bread. When we asked about the bread, it seemed like we were being difficult. I looked around and everybody else received bread and butter as soon as they were seated. My New Orleans experience was fantastic except for Brennan’s.
4.8 | very solid choice. came in on a whim because the place was super charming and the open table listed it at a 4.8. I regret not trying their short rib, as though I enjoyed this plate here, it wasnt as filling. very aware upscale restaurants have smaller portions, so Im not bothered by that, I just expected more of a thick stew, versus broth, which would have been more filling despite portion size.I love their sparkling strawberry drink. I originally ordered the azalea, but believe it or not, though Im a non sweet drink and dark rum kinda gal, the sparking strawberry was more satisfying. it had such a subtle strawberry flavour, but the sparkling wine was a nice balanced flavour profile, and was light enough to pair well with the seafood without overpowering it.last but not least, the showstopper, the banana foster. absolutely brilliant. a great dessert with a side of show. highly recommend trying it.if youre looking for a nice upscale dinner in NOLA without the noise and bustle, sneak away to this restaurant. we didnt have a reservation, but they were able to get us a table. I ended up paying $77 between two drinks, an entree, and dessert. thats a steal for a great spot. we tipped well because our waiter was awesome. I wish I remembered his name, but hes the amazing older gentleman who has lived in the French Quarters since 2000 and was clearly a veteran of good food and drinks.will be back again before I leave to try their brunch menu! it looks delightful.
The home of the original Bananas Foster, Brennans offers an exciting menu of food options. They are known for their Eggs Hussard with coffee-cured Canadian bacon and rich Hollandaise sauce. Their eggs were perfectly runny.Their house coffee was French-pressed and tastes best hot and black. There are small bits of coffee grinds inside which adds a nice texture. For the bananas foster, youll need to order at least two, but the server will flambé the bananas in front of you with the rum, butter, sugar, and cinnamon. While the restaurant is pricey, I would recommend going to try the delicious food.
This is a really neat restaurant with different theme rooms. The food was amazing and delicious. We had the French toast OMG AMAZINGGG. I’ve never had anything like it’s a must try as a starter. I had the omelette with shrimp with the homemade creole sauce was delicious. It was way better than your typical marinara sauce. My partner had the egg Benedict with bacon. As the dessert I had the s’mores omg if I couldn’t think things could get better it certainly did. It had perfectly burned marshmallows, ice cream, graham cracker, fudge, and sprinkled chocolate with taffy.
Brennan’s was so incredibly amazing, regardless of how redundant that sounds. Where to even begin?Food: Out of this world! The Beef Tenderloin was superb. 10/10 recommend. My dad had the duck, my husband had fish and my mom had turtle soup and all of the above exceeded their expectations. The bananas foster was such an experience not just in taste but in show.Service: Maxwell and Lyniha were the epitome of perfection. Lyniha kept refilling water and eyeing our table as she cleaned tables around us. She always made sure to attend to us whenever she could anticipate a request arising. She’s simply amazing. Maxwell had a wonderful personality and was extremely attentive, as well! He was so friendly and helpful throughout our time at Brennan’s. Also, the hostess tonight literally held the door for us upon exiting. It’s the small things that really count!THIS is what hospitality is supposed to be. My family and I are so happy we dined here tonight. Thank you, Brennan’s!
Amazing food and fantastic service! Highly recommend and would come back when we visit NOLA again. Came for brunch and left happy. Ordered the apple appetizer and the croque madame. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Definitely worth it!
Best eggs benedict I’ve ever had! Everything was perfect! Staff is friendly. So far this is the best food I’ve had in New Orleans! We ordered a king cake to go.
We went to Brennan’s for a wedding rehearsal dinner which took place in the upstairs dining room. There was a set menu of steak and bbq shrimp with bananas foster for dessert. The shrimp was really good but nothing beats that bananas foster! Good service and great food!
I went for lunch and had the redfish - delicious! Staff was super nice. I recommend a reservation; I sat in the bar because I didnt. Also, you can pick up a bananas foster king cake!
A high-class brunch spot with an intimate atmosphere and spectacular kitchen and wait staff. Antoine made our celebration perfect.
Brennan’s is my favorite brunch spot in New Orleans. Their cocktails/bourbon selection/food/dessert and service are exceptional and I would recommend to anyone who is visiting.
One of the best brunch experiences of my life, and I consider myself a true “foodie”. Our server John was fabulous! They don’t rush you out, but rather encourage you to take your time and enjoy the luxurious dining experience! The food was outstanding, the ambiance was amazing. 10/10 Does not get better than Brennan’s brunch. You must come if you’re in NOLA and get the banana foster when you’re here- they originated at Brennan’s!
Bananas Foster Birthplace was well worth the trip! This is what we came for and we were not disappointed! We were treated like royalty on this amazing dining experience, not just an address!
The best brunch ever! The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. It was so good we went 2 days in a row and made sure we had the same server (bartender). She was so knowledgeable about the menu, building and history of the area. 10/10 recommend.
I didnt love my brunch there. Food was interesting but not exceptional. For the price, it should have been. Small steak w steak and eggs, no question from the server of what temperature I wanted it. $41. The place seemed tourist friendly but tourist weary too from the severs. Suggest going for dinner versus breakfast or brunch.
Absolutely amazing. Went for dinner, returned the next morning for breakfast. If youre visiting New Orleans and you dont experience dinner or breakfast at Brennans, you missed out! *****
Their chef, Ryan Hacker, really knows how to add interesting flavors and textures to traditional creole dishes. And their dessert chef is amazing. Best dinner Ive had in quite a while. Also, kudos to the dessert chef! The peach sorbet was delicious and the presentation was superb.
AMAZING. I will think about the food here for the rest of my life. Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful food. 10/10. I definitely need to come back to New Orleans just to eat here again!
Design of the restaurant is really good. Service was decent. However I did not like the food. Whether that was my fried rabbit particularly or the oil they use, I just stayed hungry.
I had a superb birthday dinner here last week.
I attended a farewell brunch in the King’s room and it was amazing. The bbq shrimp was delicious. The bacon had the perfect crisp. The eggs weren’t the best but they weren’t horrible. Biscuits were thick and fluffy. I enjoyed everything in our 3 hour reservation and it was worth the price. They seemed to rush to clean in hour 2 of the reservation even though there wasn’t another event after ours. It’s $2 per slice to cut the cake and they kept asking to do it. The room was decorated so well, we didn’t need additional decorations. There were some final invoice issues but they were quickly resolved.Pros: beautifully decorated, delicious food, attentive captains.Cons: Felt rushed in the middle of our reservation, $2 per slice to cut the cake, invoice issues, $3.50 cup of soda with no refills.
Absolutely fantastic. One of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. The beef tenderloin was cooked the perfection and the braised short rib was bursting with flavor. The Bananas Foster was amazing, and a great experience having it cooked table side. The atmosphere was so great, incredible service from the moment you walk in the door to when you leave. Our experience was so good, we booked a reservation for brunch.
I appreciate fine dining and this place did NOT disappoint. As guests from out of town, I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff. The food was BEYOND amazing. Our server, Antoine was the consummate professional, but he made us feel like family. Id come back to New Orleans just to come to Brennans.
