Brasserie Bodu - European restaurant in Luzern, Switzerland
Brasserie Bodu in Luzern
Description
Privilege
Fun French restaurant in Lucerne’s old town. The mussels and entrecôte were excellent, as was the wine by the glass selection. They were even surprisingly kid-friendly, offering a coloring book and pencils to start the meal
MoreGreat bread, decent selection of wine. But the entrecôte - don’t order this. The meat quality is poor and the fries over cooked- although the foiegras was decent. Overpriced for the fare
MoreHaving just arrived in Lucerne Switzerland, there were many options for a midday meal, and we stumbled upon this restaurant with wonderful outdoor seating arrangements. We were given a table on an outdoor balcony with a fabulous view of the lake and all of the fabulous buildings in Lucerne. In addition to these fantastic views, the food was exceptional. My vegetarian ravioli was phenomenal, and my wifes salmon was spectacular. I would certainly recommend for anyone looking for an ideal outdoor male, or even indoor options that they had, this is a fabulous place to share time with loved ones over a meal.
MoreLovely seat on the balcony. Negroni was somehow off. Cold pea soup w smoked salmon good. My dining partners salad was good. My eggplant stuffed ravioli were bland, chewy, and tough and drowning in oil - as if they were old from freezer. Great view. Food not so. For the price, avoid.
MoreWe were able to enjoy the incredible hospitality of bodu for the fourth time. The employees are very convincing with their well-founded and high level of expertise on the subject of hospitality and wine. A big thanks also to Anu and Uwe. With the loving nature, they always made the experience at bodu breathtaking. We are coming again. Many Thanks :)
Morefood is super saltytook long to comeoverpriced
Food was good but after a while it is very salty and noodles were bland
Excellent food, service. Beautiful environment. Will visit again.
Great entrecôte and nice location
Paid 37 chf for not that good food… I literally ate 3 pieces because I was starving. It’s probably just me I have a high expectation for steaks— I’ve had Outback Steakhouse’s steaks better
MoreThe ambience, the staff and the food was all just AMAZING! The best olives and oysters I have ever eaten, each course was just delicious. Price was also very reasonable.
MoreNice food and good atmosphere to seat outdoor
Food and service was amazing. Lovely atmosphere. Disclaimer - Menu is completely in French. No English menu.
MoreWe went here for our anniversary dinner, about 3 weeks ago. We had SUCH an amazing time, I dont have words to describe. The place is so charming with a very interesting decor, the food was so good, the service was so warm and friendly. It was especially sweet when the host looked for a very special wine for us from his cellar and brought it to us. They also brought a dessert for us with sparklers on it as a celebration for our anniversary.A tip - book early. They dont have many non-smoking tables and tables get booked a day or two in advance (in winter!)
MoreSuch incredible historical brassiere that has the most beautiful interior and kind and helpful staff and the food and wine is the most deliciousI can highly recommend this place and please book a table next to the window with the river view
MoreWe had a wonderful experience at Brasserie Bodu. Our server was top notch only matched by the fantastic food!
MoreExcellent service, tasty food and a very cozy restaurant.
Cute historical place. Has a smoking dining area, feels like going back time. Good food!!! Swercice was good too.
MoreExcellent food at a reasonable price. Lovely decor and perfectly located in town by the lake
MoreExcellent food, service, drinks, ambience, and history! Excellent place to enjoy a meal overlooking the lake and the 7+ centuries old, remarkable timber Chapel Bridge. I had the special wild food venison pate with fresh figs and arugula salad. My family each had a different daily special, one with the pasta bolognese and the other with the cold water fish.
MoreFantastic atmosphere, great location, super friendly staff, excellent food!!!
We had a great time in the wonderful balcony with a view to the lake and the town. It felt like a fairy tale! The staff was very friendly and helpful and they made us feel very welcome. Everything we tried from the soups to the meats was over the top! The interior has a must see decoration. The music is also perfect. Overall, an unforgettable experience!
MoreBrasserie Bodu was our favorite restaurant in Luzern during our time living there. The atmosphere is cool and sophisticated without being pretentious, the food is excellent (try the entrecóte), and the service is great...and a table in the square is tough to beat during the summer. Highly recommend.
MoreNice! We enjoyed our meal. It felt as if we were in France! It‘s really charming to have a table at the Kornplatz, when the sun is out.
MoreWe went there semi-randomly -- thanks Google Maps -- and we were very pleasantly surprised. This is a genuine French brasserie in Luzern, and one of my top 3 restaurants in Switzerland. (Im biased, Im French.)It was not rush hours so maybe that contributed to the overall good experience because the service was very good (like, they remembered who ordered what on a table of 7 peopleand attentive. The food was outstanding. I had a simple lentil salad which was quite good and then mussels. Its hard to make them wrong but its hard to make them stand out of the lot. But yet they managed. The sauce was simply the best Ive ever had.
MoreVegan options available and impeccable service.
Loved this place! The food is great! Everything we ordered was delicious! And the service was fantastic!
MoreNice ambience, smoking bar , live 🎹 session is awesome. Should try the food. Its really delicious . The foie gras , snails, and 🍷 .. loved the time spent there with my loved one ❤️🥰
MoreService is good, taste of food average, not that special. Spinach pasta with artichoke (was hard to find those in the dishwas lacking taste and very oily; the lamb was good but ratatouille was also lacking taste and salty.Good wine. Ambiente okay, very loud inside. Not quite romantic more like bistro style.
MoreThe Oysters 🦪 are very yummy 😋
Great vibes! Very French. Very institutional and lots of character.Tip: Get a table in the smoking section for best vibes and authentic experience.
MoreQuirky, much liked by locals. Serves good hearty food. The place is good for a lively chat and a meal with friends, but may not be suitable for quiet romantic dinners, as tables are a bit too close to one another, theres not much privacy.
MoreExcellent location. Wonderful food. Fantastic selection of wine. Friendly staff. In my opinion the best restaurant in Luzern.
MorePhenomenal food and service. I would recommend eating outside on the upper balcony. Thanks for a beautiful birthday dinner.
MoreFood is quite good, and maybe the only good thing there. The service was EXCESSIVELY LONG! We had to wait over an HOUR before getting our main dish. Im not even exaggerating. Its the longest I even had to wait for food service. And the manager would act very snobby to everyone. Not smiling at all.I come from Montreal, Quebec, and I will not recommend you guys in terms of service, even though the food was good.
MoreOh my, my all-time favorite restaurant!Wonderful french cuisine. Has a smoker and non-smoker part. Servers are friendly and the portion sizes are relatively large.Location is beautiful and theyve also got a pretty solid wine and drinks- selection.
MoreAn excellent restaurant, with a gorgeous outside sitting area. The food is just exactly salty as you want it to be, and the wine and beer are great too.
MoreService is slow but food is very good. Prices are a little on the upper end for what you get. French bistro with bistro cuisine. We come here regularly for Entrecôtes and the seated duck breast.
MoreLove hanging out here. Right in front of the city hall and much quieter compared to the establishments by the river. Service is very efficient.
MoreGood atmosphere, restaurant has definitely been here a while, but between the three of us we didnt have a single dish that we really liked, expect much more from a restaurant of this caliber.
MoreMarvellous fine dine out place with mouthwatering dishes ... we tried the Lamb chop and pork cutlet as main dish then creme Brulee and mousse au chocolate as desert ... everything was an ideal choice and mesmerising experience ... its a must try in Luzern...staffs are helpful.. location is good.
MoreReally enjoyed our time here. We ordered the mussels with cream sauce and the grilled pork chop. Both were wonderful. We finished it off with a creme brule which was also super delicious. Will come back if we are in Lucerne!
MoreI had the "Monkfish in Green-Saffron Lemon Sauce Along with Garlic Noodles and Peas" and it was pretty decent. It was good but it didnt have a wow factor in my opinion.
MoreNice typically French decorated restaurant inspired in the 20s. The wine list is wide and interesting as well as the menu. Its located very central but in a very cute but yet not crowded square. The terrace is quiet but lively. The food is tasty and the service is friendly and efficient. Good price for value.
MoreIf you have lung problems DO NOT EAT HERE! This was unfortunately the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. They refused to seat us in the non-smoking section even though it was completely empty! I explained both my boyfriend and I suffer from very bad asthma, but they didnt seem to care at all. We ended up wheezing the entire dinner with no where else to go since it was late and pouring rain. He ended up with bronchitis and my lungs have never been the same since eating here. They also charged us both €6.50 for still water. The food was fine but the waitstaff was extremely rude and unhelpful!
MoreShort version: I wont return but you might want to give it a go since the place has its charm.First off, the smokers area is easily accessible whereas the non smokers entry is hidden in an alley. The signs that indicate it are in German.Friendly staff was able to accommodate us on a Friday night. Unfortunately, the service was nothing special. Neutral waiter taking the order without any proactive suggestions. Long wait for next dish or even a forgotten sauce for my veal steak. That and some other details made the place average. Im kinda deceived.
MoreGood food in a France themed restaurant. Make a reservation or show up early for dinner. The dinning room is on the water behind the bar. Bar allows inside smoking.
MoreA lovely authentic French brasserie in Lucerne. Worth a detour. We had excellent cold vichyssoise and a wonderful spicy soup with beetroot sorbet. The lamb chops were excellent as well. To dine outside on the balcony on a warm day with the rippling River Reuss below and music wafting up from the quayside was a truly memorable experience. Be sure to visit Brasserie Bodu if you are anywhere in the vicinity of Lucerne
MoreGreat food, good service. I rarely even look at the menu: the entrecôte Bodu with café de Paris type sauce and pommes allumettes fries, and tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream for desert. Quality wines, both white and red, as well. Great sitting outside on the balcony or the square, or inside.
MoreGreat meal, great atmosphere. One of a few restaurants open on Sunday evening. Make sure you walk through the "smoking bar" section and ignore the menu listed outside. The restaurant Im talking about is intimate and lovely.
