Brady's Public House - Irish restaurant in Kansas City, United States
This is my favorite restaurant in Kansas City as a new native. Bradys has great beer and liquor selections that compliment a diverse menu of traditional pub fare and Irish favorites. From crab cakes that blow away the East Coast taste I was used to and swore by, to desserts that even someone like myself - I have no sweet tooth - crave. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, I couldnt recommend it more.
The chicken pot pie was delicious, made exceptional by the flaky biscuits. Fish and chips were also excellent! Their selection of whiskey and beer are outstanding! I think this is a hidden gem of a restaurant/bar.
I’m always looking for a good Irish pub!! Brady’s hit the mark for me. Added bonus it was the end of restaurant week so that means DESERTS!! We’d go back for the Irish bream creme brûlée alone 😋 We will most definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu!
Everything Ive eaten at Bradys has been flavorful and a joy to experience. Brunch on Sunday was Cured Salmon Benedict. So delish! The Beef Stroganoff is absolutely the best. Crab Cakes are fabulous. The Deviled eggs are devine.
After struggling for over an hour to find a restaurant on the Plaza, my wife & I were at our wits’ end. While scouring google, I stumbled upon Brady’s Public House. We called ahead & were relieved to hear they weren’t busy on a bustling Friday night. We were skeptical at first, but one step inside & we knew we had come to the right place. Our waitress was extremely helpful with the menu & her recommendations were spot on. We had a wonderful, intimate dinner, tucked away in a cozy corner booth. I strongly recommend ordering the Smithwick’s draft with Guinness draft on top, it was truly an Irish delight. We shared the skirt steak as well as an order of potato croquettes. It was all delicious & I am eager to return & try more items on the menu. Brady’s Public House is a hidden gem in Kansas City!
Truly amazing. Menu just the right size (not too bloated, but still a nice selectionapparently the largest Irish whiskey selection in town. Service and setting was excellent and the food was even better. Really great without being at all intimidating.
I had never been here before because I had never even heard of this place. Coming with a group of friends opened my eyes to what a lovely Irish pub Id been missing out on! The classic (and practically requiredGuinness was perfectly poured and the waitress could not have been nicer to our 10 person group. With some wildly helpful suggestions on the best dishes, we all chose our meals and were amazed when they came out. I had some beef and vegetable soup with Guinness bread and was astounded. Everything I tried from other plates (quiche, fish & chips, calamariwere all delicious. 100% worth a return visit to see what else they have!
This place has a great atmosphere with a friendly and fun wait staff. I have to say that the "mishy" peas were a pleasant surprise, however, the fish and chips, other than the peas that came with, were about as bad as it was aesthetically unpleasing. One piece of Brown fish only and burnt looking, scrawny fries. The fries didnt taste bad, but the fish was worse than it looked. Flavorless and with a rubbery consistency, the fish is to be avoided. The coffee was overpriced in my opinion; the price may be more normal for this type of venue though. Conclusion: great place to kick back and grade papers, write or read a book with a Guiness Stout poured the right way!
What a wonderful surprise. Great food. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the Guinness steak pie. Both were really good and full of flavor. The service was awesome, Brianna took very good care of us. The atmosphere was fun. We will definitely be back.
Best burger on KC. Moist, great flavor, delicious fries! My partner ordered the chicken, we were originally planning on going to Strouds, and she was MORE than pleased. The chef explained the process and it makes sense as to why the chicken fell of the bones. So many great options to choose from. Well be back for sure!
Nice warm atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. Food is made fresh in an open-to-the-restaurant kitchen. Chef is friendly and will occasionally chitchat with the customers. You can tell the chefs care about the customer experience and it shows. Food is excellent. Ill definitely be back.
Good food. The fish and chips were great. My husband said his "full Irish" breakfast was absolutely right. No Harp lager on tap though. Service was very good.
The food is amazing, the service is good, and the atmosphere is nice if youre into the Irish bar feel. The menu is more expensive than the bar that used to be in this location (Mikes), but the place is much classier now, though out of most college kids price range unlike Mikes used to be. If you can get past comparing to the cheaper prices of the old place and youre willing to drop 10+ for apps and 14-16+ on food (unless its happy hour), then this is the place for you.For us who live on the east side of the neighborhood/troost it is good food, but a rare treat due to pricing. Cant afford to be regulars. But the deserts here deserve a 5 star at any price!
This was my first visit to the recently- remodeled tavern that used to be Mikes on 55th and Troost. Is a lovely place to meet for casual lunches and dinners. Love the Irish pub ambiance! The food was superb and reasonably priced, and our waitress was a delight. I plan to visit again soon! 😊
This is a legit Irish pub. The Guinness on draft transported us back to the Guinness brewery in Dublin where it doesn’t get any better. The service was excellent. We had the deviled eggs flight, steak sandwich with four cheese sauce, and corned beef sandwich. All delicious. Will be back.
Loved the atmosphere, food and drinks. It made me feel like Id been transported to Ireland! My husband loved the chicken pot pie. I tried the scotch egg and had the quiche of the day. Everything was delicious and served hot.
I came here with 3 other guys for a drink before we headed back home. We ordered a couple of Magners and a couple of Boddingtons. Our server was great and funny, not pushy at all. Liked the place a lot. Not very busy though for a Wednesday evening. Lots of J. rieger products!
Oh what a gem this bar is! If youre an Irish whiskey fan like me, youll walk in and immediately be struck mute at the amount of really good whiskies that are available. The prices are quite reasonable for what is available. The food is outstanding! The Scotch egg is perfection and their cheesecake is out of this world.I cant sing the praises of this amazing pub enough. Go, sit awhile, and enjoy a few whiskies and a pint.
We had a group eight, including a one year old. I called in advance to let them know we would have a fairly large group and they were very accommodating. Everything was fantastic. The cocktails were delish. The food is unlike other "Irish" pub in KC and is prepared perfectly! The desserts are above standard. The chocolate cherry pie! Oh the chocolate cherry pie! 😍 Our server was friendly, very attentive and took great care of us. I wish I remembered her name. So sorry!Bradys is a great place for groups, families and even a date night. Definitely one of my favorite places in KC! Thank you for taking care of us. We will be back for sure.
Excellent service and even better food! This place is Irish through and through. I read that the place gets pretty busy but we went on a Saturday afternoon and did not have to wait for a table. I had the Whiskey Cured Salmon BLT and the salmon tasted so fresh, like it just jumped out of a stream. Dessert was fantastic too. Literally everyone from the owner to the chef stopped by our table to see how we liked our food. I cannot recommend Bradys enough!
Bradys was a perfect lunch spot break during my all day Saturday seminar at Rockhurst! The food was delicious, good portions, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The pub is pretty dark when you walk inside so be prepared for your eyes to adjust if its a bright sunny day out!Their breakfast menu looked delicious and I cant wait to try them for brunch sometime! I had the steak sandwich and would recommend it.
A KC gem. The vibe feels like an underground pub in Dublin. Dimly lit. Chill music. Candlelight. Tall dark ceilings framed by a all of liquor behind the bar. Overheard they stock 82 Irish whiskeys. The GM was working the bar when I dropped by and introduced himself when I sat down. Him, the owner and chef are all from Ireland, so this is as authentic as it gets.
The service is always friendly and the food is fantastic. Im hooked on their cottage pie and their eggs. Really their eggs! Also, Im not exactly sure why but I appreciate the fact that the chef comes out of the kitchen just to make sure that everyone is enjoying their food. You just dont get that kind of service anymore these days.
Bradys always exceeds our expectations! Tonight was no exception.Belinda had the salmon and I had fish & chips. Graham even made a special dessert for Belinda who was celebrating her breast cancer "Remission Day!"
Cozy spot for a warming bite and a lovely pour. They pull off the public house vibe so well that if Im in just the right frame of mind, its somewhere north of London outside the window, not Troost. Any glitch in service has been accompanied with notable recovery. Had the special menu offering, bangers and mash, the last time I was there, and it did not disappoint.
Loved the decor and food was outstanding! My husband had mussels and we split the Irishmans special - a yummy cornbeef sandwich that melted in my mouth. The bun was exceptional. Will be back for sure 🤗
Basic Beer List. Decent Whiskey Selection. Free Parking. Friendly Staff. Watch our for the up charges, without informing the Customer. Failed to cook burger medium rare (it was tasty). Overall a nice place but I’ll pass in future
Love this place! Friendly, cozy atmosphere. The chef is fantastic. The regular menu is always great, and the off-menu specials are outstanding. Craft cocktails are well-done too. Definitely a neighborhood favorite and a worthy destination for visitors.
Great place to visit. The food is delicious. The Irish breakfast is delicious. The best in town. The cottage pie is no doubt the best one offered in KC, but make sure to go there hungry if you’re wanting to try the cottage pie. There’s certainly a lot of it, and beware.. it comes to you piping hot.Great staff.Definitely a place to check out. It’s opposite the Rockhurst University, so easy to find.Well worth checking it out.
Extremely authentic Irish! Excellent selection of many Irish dishes that leave at least someone at the table asking what the **** is that??? All the dishes are excellent though I tried the scotch eggs, jalepeno chips and the fried chicken and loved all of it. It has an excellent whisky selection but understand this place is truly Irish and meeting the owner and bartender certainly confirmed the Irish roots of the bar. As such dont expect a big scotch, bourbon, English beer etc selection like most wannabe Irish bars. This place is for those that went to Ireland and long to go back while staying in Kansas City.
Great locally sourced food, the peach cobbler was great! Fish and Chips, black and blue burger and dinner pies all delicious. M Brady is a pleasant host who aims to please. Try it!
Was looking for an authentic pub and found it. 70+Irish whiskey options on the drink menu. Stuff you cant get anywhere. Friendly and thoughtful sass service. Bartender came to the table just to see how we liked the drinks and chat. Great traditional Irish dishes and much more. Try the beef stroganoff, its the best. Lots of friendly patrons.
We enjoyed our visit and definitely will be back! The menu is extensive and food we tried was an explosion of happy in my mouth. The whiskey list is so long, it will take a year to try them all. The service was great and the bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing the right whiskey and food.
Outstanding. Food service and atmosphere. Fried chicken was best in Kansas City. Shawn the Chef is great. Whitney took good care of us too. Coming again.
A true delight! My wife and I went there for an after work gathering. The place is warm, friendly and had fantastic service. The Happy Hour appetizer selections were varied, you cant go wrong with their offerings. We went for the Scotch Egg (very tasty, served with a side saladand also had the Loaded Potato Chips. The chips are served with a four cheese sauce, bacon, green onions and pickled jalapenos. The portion was huge and delicious! This is a wonderful place to eat, drink and be merry!
Nostalgic pub interior and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely worth stopping to enjoy a pint!
What a hidden gem. Kansas City foodies will love this place. Its small so get a reservation on the weekends. 4 of us went and all of us were 1st timers. EVERY. SINGLE. THING we had on the menu was mouthwatering. We were sharing food and eating off each others plates and "we dont do that". Mac & Cheese is to die for, fried chicken might be my new favorite (sorry Strouds), beef stroganoff (sp?was really good. Great beers on tap. Bailey waited on us and she was darling. She had great recommendations for the beers, entrees and more and her recommendations didnt disappoint. I forgot to mention that this place is really affordable, clean and fun.
Cool place with a decent beer selection. Id have preferred some additional UK beers (particularly Fullers), but the boddingtons was nice.My corned beef was a little bland, but certainly not bad and the fries were above average.
In such an attractive setting, the star is the food. And... wow, is it good! The fried chicken (maple-brined and lemon butter!is excellent, always. As is the fish and chips. Friends have also enjoyed and enthusiastically recommend the steak and Guiness pie, the Cottage Pie, and the mussels. A mix of Kansas City favorites and traditional Irish fare make it a winner... let alone the selection of quality beers, ales, and whiskeys. Bonus... the bread pudding with a Baileys sauce. And the staff and service have always been top-notch.
Amazing food, excellent service and great atmosphere! Def not the Mikes of my Rockhurst days but Im not complaining. The scotch egg was perfectly cooked while the fish and chips hit the spot. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.
Amazing, amazing food! Tried the rack of lamb, steak and Guinness pie, and fish and chips. All were spectacular. And for dessert, try the bread pudding. One of the best desserts I’ve ever had... and I don’t generally like bread pudding! Great service and atmosphere as well!
First legit Breakfast I have had in America. Everything tasted great and the service was awesome. The bar has a huge selection of 39 Irish Whisky’s. Worth a visit.
What a warm cozy place! The food is amazingly prepared. The fried chicken is a fave. It is brined and seasoned so that it is very tender and flavorful. Def not your standard pub fare. The chef came out to talk with us at the table. Whiskey and beer selection is amazing. Highly recommended. Just east of brookside area.
Excellent food, drinks, service. This is what an Irish Pub should be like. AND the owner and some employees are actually from Ireland. Only minor negative point is that its located at E. 54th Street and Troost so not a place I would take my wife and kids late at night without an armed escort if you know what I mean. Really fun and personal service and the remodel looks great!
My wife and I have been looking for a good restaurant to go to for a long time and we decided to go here because of the article in Feast Magazine and the excellent reviews online. We were not disappointed. I ordered the skirt steak and it was the best steak I havehad in years! My wife ordered the Steak and Guinness Pie and it was delicious! Chef Brady came out to the tables and personally checked in with everyone. Staff was helpful and friendly. Atmosphere was perfect. This will be on our favorites list!
Came here for a late lunch and had a great time at the bar with the bartender and chef! Great crew of people and amazing food and drinks to go along with it. Probably the best Irish food in KC. Will definitely be back soon.
Absolutely delicious food and fantastic beer. It is the best pint of Guinness in town and as of yesterday might be the only pint of Murphy’s I’ve found in this town in years. Go there. Now. It’s fantastic. And the service is the right amount of Irish sarcasm for this fella.
Nice atmosphere but the service was slow and the food just fair.Second visit Fried Chicken pretty good,Skirt steak good, corn beef sandwich just ok. Service better then first visit.
Hole in the wall place but with excellent food. We came here because of the good reviews - if we judged it from the exterior we would have driven by and went to another place. I got the Fish and Chips and it was really good. It could be one of my top fish and chip plates Ive eaten. The fish had just enough batter on a thick piece of fish (cod? The fish didnt taste like it was previously frozen. We also got Scottish eggs and they were great as well. The service was excellent!
My partner and I very much enjoyed our visit for brunch today. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. The coffee was excellent. Service was great, and Brady himself popped by to see how we were enjoying our meal. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I have been to my fair share of pubs. I will happily recommend this place to others, and I will definitely be returning in the very near future!
