Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, Moremela, Mpumalanga, South Africa, Tzaneen
Popular geological attraction formed by water erosion, with walkways & bridges for visitors.
Always love to come to the Potholes, as they have great memories of me and my wife at this place. Great place to bring the family to
Short walk to the bridges where you can see a waterfall and the water between the canyon
Beautiful and peaceful place to be. Youll have a peace of mind when youre there....
This place is majestic, good for taking pictures, the water there is nice very refreshing on your toes, the rocks are very slippery so you need to take it easy when stepping on them.
Just beautiful partly accessible by wheelchair. 130 rand for overseas visitors. But worth it. Can take between 20 mins and an hour
This place is breathtaking. I still cant get over it. And the water is clean and serene
This has always been one of the favorite stops wheneven we are the area. I love the renovations and the place looks much better than last time. Keep up the good work, I still think the place still has huge potential. I wish they could bring some guides to keep some order for tourist to respect the environment
The most expensive disappointment... 130 rand PER international person. These prices are simply a rip off ... my picture is the view at the potholes, this is it ... nothing more, nothing less.. in my opinion not worth the stop at these ridiculous prices.International readers... dont spend the money, spend it on a meal instead.
Its amazing and extremely beautiful!I loved every moment!!
Wonderful to see Mother nature doing her thing over thousands of years. And including chemistry is always fun!
Its a magnificent place to observe the potholes and the surrounding beauty at a leisurely pace. I would recommend if people are touring that they go on days less busy. The site is also a point of interest for school trips in the district but when the pathways are full it can be dangerous.
The biggest rip-off in South Africa. As international visitor you pay 130 rand per person for visiting a nature landmark. The little maintenance that would be necessary is horrendous: broken glass, empty bottles lying around, dirty toilets and rubbish next to the bins.Even the landmark itself is nothing special: it is a canyon with water ...Go to the "A forever resort" where you have amazing views, nice waterfalls, and hiking trails for 50 rand per person!
This place is amazing, its must seen, i truly enjoyed being here
Impressive scenery. Kept clean and tidy by staff.
The park is well maintained and very clean. There is a museum that has information about the history of tourist attractions in Mpumalanga and there is other facilities such as shops, a restaurant and toilets. There is an entrance fee that you need to pay.
Extremely beautiful place, and worth spending time there with the family, go there you won’t regret it!
Beautiful, relaxing and soothing to hear the waterfalls and crystal clear water
It’s really a beautiful place but it’s expensive if you compare it to the other sites in the area. There’s toilets, restaurant and gift shops. I would recommend. The price is 130R per adult.
Nice views, and some "unofficial splash areas" for kids. Not for swimming though.Short walk from the parking to get to the "potholes".Wheel chair friendly.
Not visited the Pot Holes in about 20 yrs.Still very impressive , Everything still looks the same , Toilets were disappointing as per most of the Sites we visited , Maintenance is not taking place , Cell Phone Signal is bad , Pot Holes in the Roads and Load Shedding is very Unpleasant.
Well kept area, has place to eat, bathrooms and curios. Awesome views.
Most tranquil place ever. Booked a panoramic route with a tour guide, the stories about the area and people make it even more amazing.
Beautiful scenery and serenic place to visit in Mpumalanga. Absolutely love it.
Definitely worth the visit.Phenomenal views & its peaceful. You can sit on the rocks and soak up nature at its fullest. There is alot of space if it gets busy. You can see far and walk over most of the big potholes looking down on it.They offer hikes (we didnt go this time around as we were late)There is little to no littering however the bathrooms are in poor shape.
Great sight and has been for many years. Its just getting pricey for a family of 4 or more.
This was one of the highlights of our trip and a must if you are in the area.Safe parking and about 600m or more walking down to the falls very easy but coming back a little bit more tough.
Amazing views from the bridge and up close in the shallow waterfall pools. The wet rocks are extremely slippery!
R35 entrance fee. Absolutely breathtaking! Friendly staff and good services like bathrooms etc. The potholes is the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
I find the R65 p.p entrance fee a bit ridiculous for a 15min walk around. Yes the potholes are beautiful to see but it is the most expensive one out of the whole panorama drive and the toilets are disgusting, falling apart and so dirty. I thought for such a big tourist attraction they would spend some money on upgrading the facilities as busses upon busses of people stop there to see the place.
Area is kept clean, relatively safe, there are some stalls as well as a shop for takeaways. The area itself is beautiful.P.S- Did you know, this is the 3rd largest canyon in the world...
The views are breathtaking and we were lucky to have the best weather. We would suggest wearing comfortable closed shoes as it is a bit of a walk to the potholes with lots of rocks and uneven surfaces along the way. If youre visiting on a hot day, carry a hat or cap as it can get intense. Be sure to visit the museum on your way out, it is very informative and would be interesting for kids. Entrance fees vary and are dependent on the season you visit. Important to note, there will be a different fee for foreign visitors.
Beautiful place. There’s a braai area as well so you can bring your own meat and have a picnic after sight seeing the potholes.
Omw this is amazing. This is were you see the true strength of what running water and a but of sand can do to rock. It definitely a sight to go and explore and see a bit of natures art.
Loved this place. Didn’t expect these views actually. Nice easy trail. Great for pic nic!!!
Absolutely stunning waterfalls, rivers, and rock formations evolved from thousands of years of rocks and running river to create the pothole pools. Some of the stone looked to have iron-ore colour and looked like lava had burst between rock seems
Always worth the experience...very hot sunny summers day, rivers full and thunderous, area well marked out and facility neatly kept.
Beautiful place. Natural water erosion from 2 rivers into one.Worth every cent.
I literally drove 5 hours to see this attraction for myself, after seeing it only in pictures - and it was so worth it 👌. If it were not so far from home, Id visit more frequently. Absolutely an amazing attraction with rock pools that you can swim in. The park is clean, has curio shops and a restaurant. I think I also saw a picnic area for day visitors. Entry fee was R60 pp.
we arrive nearly on closing time but we manage to get to see the potholes although Ill still come back for the museum and the other places or activities taking place, seems like nice place to spend your day at.
This place is beautiful, surrounded by natural elements, made me feel real outdoorsy. Great for hiking, picnics, and braais. Family friendly.
Beautiful place, sound of water and the interesting rock formations was lovely to see, vome ready to take your maritime taking it all in. The support/ safety rails could use a "facelift" a little renovation but otherwise cool place. It is highly recommended you where comfortable shoes, carry drinking water, wear hat and sunblock if you visit in summer.
Absolutely stunning and a must see when in Mpumalanga. The Potholes and Blyde River Canyon are next to each other. You can join the masses and share in the experience of dipping your feet in the Potholes.
A nice place is convenient for a walk also available for a wheelchair. There are a few directions that are around the waterfall and is easy to see the beauty of this place. In the front of the main entrance gate is also located a small store/restaurant where you can eat or grab some drink. Good to see this place🚀
A wonderful experience for the family. They do draw in crowds so best to go as early as possible. The walk back up has an incline that was challenging, but not impossible for my elderly mother.
Views are great. Site is poorly maintained. Theres lots of dirt collecting in the river. Entrance fee is too expensive.
Absolutely magnificent and magical dense with historical energy hint find the heart shaped rock pool you and your partner dip your feet and also the circular rock pool dont forget your wishing coins
Went here on sunny day , very nice place ! Very cute for pictures there’s a few bridges over the potholes , and some hiking trails . Cost is about 65ZAR for an adult and they do have card machine , a restaurant, arts and crafts , a museum and picnic area for a braai . All round great family day . Also very close to other attractions such as the blyde river canyon, Gods window .
Its an amazing place, an awesome experience with rocks and landscape design. The fresh breeze 🤯you definitely need a good camera to capture your beautiful memories of the place
The place is really beautiful, the sight of the potholes really takes you. It gets a bit crowded on a busy day like weekends. Its advisable to wear loose shoes (sandalsif you want to walk around the rock pools
Amazing amazing amazing. The potholes are so beautiful and you can spend a whole day there. Just enjoying the nature. It’s a beautiful walk and you wil get fantastic pictures. Cost is R65 adults and R25 for pensioners and children. When you get to the bridge to cross over to the potholes it is not wheelchair friendly. Neither will a pram make it. Rather get a baby carrier for babies. Grounds are well maintained. There is a coffee shop that makes great meals. There is stalls that sell all locally made trinkets. There is also a picnic area to use.
