Seasonal restaurant & market inspired by California cuisine, started by two longtime food writers.
Nice pastries and coffee. They have some great bread from Friends and Family as well.
The food is divine, the ingredients seasonal and carefully chosen and the marriage of flavors out of this world. Favorite place in LA <3
My husband and I live in the neighborhood and Botanica is our go-to whenever we are craving something fresh and delicious. Brunch and dinner are both exceptional--imaginative, produce-forward food that looks as yummy as it tastes. When we stop in for coffees before we walk around the reservoir, the servers even come out to say hello to my geriatric, attention-hungry golden retriever. Truly warm, beautiful people!
Stopped by this gem on my way to Santa Barbara. Every dish was packed with amazing flavors. Hoping to go back again soon.
LOVE this local spot, 10/10 always recommend! Botanica is the epitome of California cuisine and I always have the best experience when there.
A beautiful neighborhood spot that feels like home to many. The plates of food and sips they offer are keenly thoughtful and I always leave with something from the market on my way out! Love this joint.
Delicious seasonal menu! The halibut and tartine were both amazing. Great wine options by the glass. The staff is friendly and helpful.
I have been going here for years and this is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I have had breakfast, brunch and dinner and all are equally delicious. I dream about the unique flavor profiles and the fresh ingredients.
I can always rely on Botanica for fresh, inspired food with the best seasonal ingredients California has to offer. Great for dinner and brunch. Plus, the ambiance is hard to beat.
Ive enjoyed delicious lunches here, and also love to stop in for pastries. The pantry items for sale are great to add to your own kitchen or they make fantastic gifts. The wine selection is also 👌.
As a local, Botanica is absolutely a neighborhood gem. I often take visitors from out of town here when they visit, for a taste of fresh, exciting California-Mediterranean cuisine. It’s always delicious, the ambience is magical, and the service is spot-on. The little market in the front is also super handy when you need a good bottle of wine or healthy snacks in a pinch!
Always one of my first visits whenever Im in LA. I love the space, I love the food (always super seasonal and beautiful), and I love the hospitality. Dont sleep on the cocktail menu either, the Beet is exceptional. The cute market in the front is also great for housewarming and dinner-party gifts.
One of the best spots on the NE side of LA. I love the market side to pick up something special for a gift or if Im being realistic, for myself — everything is thoughtfully chosen from the wine selection to the dry goods they sell. The restaurant space is beautiful, the staff so friendly and food is outstanding. I love that this is the place Ill go with my friends if their mom is in town, the go-to spot for a double date for dinner. Everything is lovingly prepared and presented; Im always excited to come back for more.
My wife and I live nearby and have been to Botanica many times for coffee, the market, and for dinner. The food is absolutely fantastic, the type of place where you want food that is healthy, light, fulfilling, and most importantly delicious. Their wine program is also top notch and I’ve found some amazing wines there. I cannot recommend Botanica enough and can’t wait to go again.
Every time I dine at Botanica it is the best experience. The food is always fresh, and beautifully plated. You really can not go wrong with anything on the menu. There is also a wide range of natural wines and amazing cocktails on the menu. If you go for brunch on the weekend be sure to get a coffee with their housemade macadamia and date milk! & you have to try the cake for breakfast. One of my favorite things to do it pick up some of the goodies at the front as well to make with meal during the week and they have a huge selection of wines to take home as well.
I had an amazing experience at Botanica a couple weeks ago when visiting LA. Everything from the drinks to dessert were so delicious. I was thrilled with the gluten free options. Everyone in my party was trying to decide which dish was their favorite because they were all so good! Our service was great too! Will definitely be back any time we visit LA and will be thinking about this meal for a while! Definitely try this place especially if you have dietary restrictions such as gluten free.
They have amazing cocktails and exquisite food. Love the ambiance and how hospitable they are. Great for brunch and an afternoon drink.
Such a jam talk way in #silverlake with a incredible service. The food with such great twists, of incredible testing choices, such a wonderful place to sit and watch people go by special your favorite celebrities Bob Odenkirk
A delightful atmosphere & really extraordinary, creative food! It was the perfect Summer celebration - a meal of all the beautiful Summer flavors & a night at the Greek Theater. The food was bright, flavorful & exceptional. We ordered family style & shared. In my opinion this is always the best way to dine. Each & every dish got a "Wow.. that is amazing" Do not fail yourself & be sure to get desert!
I don’t know man this place is not it. Servers seemed acutely disinterested in us or our table. Food was wildly bland across the board. $16 carrot dip had a whisper of taste, overcooked and underseasoned fish, snap peas and paneer literally didn’t taste like anything. Super super resentful I had to spend more than 100 for a truly, exceptionally mediocre experience. Not the spot babe !
I am Eosinophilic (EoE), I have food allergies. The hope was Botanica would at least try to work around them. However our waiter, when asked if I could get egg whites because I cannot have egg yolk, refused to even check with the cooks and simply said it cannot be done. I even presented my food-risk list from my doctor to him and basically was told I could have a biscuit. My first L.A brunch was a biscuit, my wife and I traveled from the central coast for this... Our group seemed to enjoy their meals, and I paid the bill $215, and all I had was a biscuit. I cannot recommend Botanica if you have food allergies/sensitivities. They are not accommodating even despite their marketing image. Its a lie. Its high prices for something very disappointing.
nice interior and fast service but the food wasnt worth it. it meant to be creative small plates, however the result is not inspiring or tasty. the service was also rather unfriendly and rushed.
This is the second time I’ve dined at botanica. First time our bill was $75 each. For brunch over $50. My friend left so hungry she went home to make more food (and she’s a tiny thing). Dishes weren’t brought out together, waiter was making a hella lot of money for not even talking to us and making us scan a we code. So this time we went for Easter brunch. They gave us a dog table away from other patrons outside because I’m not jabbed. Even though I ate there before unjabbed when a man was going around with his man dates. So basically discrimination. The waiters are in high school? I paid a wellness fee for a billionaires restaurant? Tiny portions. My Greek grandmother made more flavors on the table. Today they were out of everything. Annoyingly upselling. Dishes coming out at different times. Offering toast then bringing it out 30 min later and charging for it. It’s like a comical scene from LA about LA. My body my choice I’ll be sure to tell my unjabbed groups that you are a jab only restaurant. Only for the wealthy and the millennial wealthy not for the people who actually have been the backbone of LA.
Have been here 2 years ago and was happy to come back. The Restaurant has amazing vegetarian options and very friendly staff in a beautiful environment. Its one of my favorite Restaurants in Silverlake.
Great decor and outdoor space; portion sizes were generous with great overall presentation. The wait staff was very helpful with ordering as well. Street parking only.
Our fave! Delicious food that makes us feel good. Staff is super helpful, great at recommending wines, and careful with our food sensitivities.
A must go to if youre in the neighborhood, planning a date, or for some casual fun wine and dine experience with family or friends. Refreshing food thats not heavy, flavors that are distinct, and different than your typical restaurant.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Everything was so fresh and flavorful and the staff was so attentive and kind. Highly recommend – everything was delicious!
Amazing food and service. The menu is super fresh and organic and delicious. Beautiful surrounding with an option for indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommended.
It cannot be overestimated how good Botanica is. From the food itself, to the market selection in the tiny store at the front to the wine knowledge of the waiters and the excellent selection of wines from around the world to try by the glass or take home… this is my new favorite place to drink and dine in Los Angeles. The white bean hummus with spiced caramelized lamb and a poached egg is one of the best plates of food I have ever had. You can eat it without bread, as it comes, or order a side of their sourdough bread in slices as an accompaniment. Either way, it’s divine!! We visited during Re:Her when they had even more than normal wines made my women winemakers and every glass we tried was superb. We also took home two bottles. Arrive hungry and with a lot of room on your credit card to spend. It will be worth it!
Love, love, love this place. Came here for brunch and left feeling very happy and satisfied over our fantastic meal. We ended up each having two glasses of wine (a Slovakian Orange and a skin-contact Pinot Grisalong with the heirloom bean hummus with caramelized spiced lamb, Turkish eggs and winter tartine. The spiced lamb was fantastic, highly recommend. Even after all of that for two people, we also ordered the cake for breakfast which was a great end to the meal. Our waiter (can’t remember if we ever caught his namewas super knowledgeable with our wine selection and helped us pick up two bottles to take home.
We came for brunch. Many of the dishes were not available, but we were not informed when we sat to order. We then ordered only to be told 10 minutes later that one of the dishes two of us ordered wasnt available. I decided to cancel my breakfast order. Another 5 minutes later they came and said they managed to find one order. So I agreed to go ahead with it. The food came at all different times. One persons meal came and then almost 10 minutes later my food came, but the bread didnt arrive for the third guest for another 5 minutes so by the time he finished his eggs, the bread arrived. The portions are small. On the bill there is an "optional" fee for health, but this was not listed on the menu and if its optional then why werent we asked if we would like to pay this. The place was not so busy for us to receive this kind of careless service. Overall it was not a good experience. Some of the food tasted good, but its hard to enjoy when its served in this fashion.
A literal shakedown: insanely overpriced wine (they casually have unmarked bottles of wine over $100 in the fridge and don’t say a word when you pick one out), entrees are abt small plate sized, and if you stay a minute past closing (after they invite you to order dinner when you ask if the kitchen is closedthey turn the heat off and tell you to walk out the side entrance.Food also barely has any flavor, which is interesting yet disappointing. Would have been more satisfied with a 7/11 run - for real.
I love that they have a simple menu with plenty of vegetarian options. The chicken thigh was actually delicious but I felt that it would have been better with something else on that plate - not sure what and I would still order it again. The cassoulet was the star - the beans were perfect and the chef was so wonderful for coming out to describe her dishes to us, incredible of her to take the time out. Our waitress was really knowledgeable about the dishes and a fun person. We got some scotch whiskey and decided to skip dessert - maybe next time. I loved the mushroom and farro - crispy but not fried or heavy. Their wine selection is solid and they have a great ambience. Not too loud, seating is great with lots of people watching. We found parking out front but if you have trouble park a little further away on the main street because its a beautiful walk in that neighborhood. Bathroom was clean and no smells of food in the kitchen which is always a plus. They have very high ceiling inside with comfy chairs. Cant wait to go back.
This place couldn’t be cuter. I had a simple dinner here, waiter was great, food delicious, wine was perfect. I found it odd that they didn’t stock the wine I ordered since they have wine for sale. Can’t think of better way to add to your bottom line than to sell the wine on your menu in the shop.I got there at the weird time after lunch/before dinner. I realize they were preparing for dinner but there was a woman holding down the shop. She said I couldn’t order a glass of wine until dinner, I’d have to buy a bottle if I wanted any at that time 🙃Again, super cute aesthetic, simple healthy menu. But based off of friends who’ve also been here, they have some peculiar rules. Could be more chill.
This place was great! Everything we had was delicious. Everything we ended up picking was vegetarian and you didn’t miss the meat at all. Very good cocktails and a good and unique wine selection too. Highly recommend
Went here for brunch it was really good. We got seated fast and the place is big which was unexpected. I did like that they had a secluded room in the back. The playlist was great I love good music when brunching. The food was hot fresh and out fast. Other dishes I recommend would be the chicken fried steak, shrimp & grits, & the pancakes(they are huge). Overall great experience I will go back again.
Love coming here in the afternoons for a coffee. My favorite is the vanilla cardamom latte, truly cant get enough. They have wonderful gluten free pasty options and the shop is extremely cute with a great selection of wine. Weve gotten dinner to go and honestly its never been a miss!! Happy to have this in the neighborhood and cant wait for them to open for brunch again!
Huge flavors and food that feels good! Had a great experience dining here, nice wine and cocktail list. We got the yogurt dip to start and was UTTERLY surprised by the amount of flavor packed in there… needed to order a second bread because you gotta get all that yogurt, yo. Salads were lovely and fresh, almost too pretty to eat. Gnocchi was good, not the best but the wine poached halibut was very tasty! Will definitely be back to try more items
Best food ever. Flavors from the Gods. Ryan our server was awesome. Many vegan choices
Really great signage, and smells like an absolute dream. Ive never been to a bathroom that has the urinal so conveniently close to the sink that you could literally do two things at once (if you catch my driftbecause of this added convenience, you can cut down your bathroom time by about 35-40% thereby allowing you to spend more time in the other part of the establishment (where all the forks, plates, olives and food etc are kept)Overall, highly recommended even if only for the cute toilet paper holder and the pleasant scent.
Let me start by saying that this place is beautiful. The vibe is great and the service is excellent.Where Im not wowed is the actual taste of the food. The plates presentation is beautiful but it is highly overpriced. The scrambled eggs is $13 and that is literally 2 eggs and some swiss chard. The bread is $5 extra. The turkish eggs was nicely presented but the salt and vinegar taste was too predominent. The cacao drink was alright. Botanica was reccommended by a hipster. It cost $85 for 3 tips included. Oh and they dont have jam.
Restaurant cafe design for hipsters in the area and it is very successful for what they set out to do. It was very busy on Saturday, I enjoy my Turkish egg breakfast however the portion is on the small size and no refill on their coffee (even for breakfast), so your coffee might end up more expensive than your breakfast.
Ambiance is on point and the Chicken congee is to die for. While the prices are steep, the full experience is worth it.
Everything was delicious. Tomato tart, maple bacon, Turkish eggs, the rice noodle salad, and the drinks. The drinks are particularly good such as the Tumeric Ginger Cashew Milk “Latte” and the cucumber lemon ginger spritzer.
Incredible atmosphere and stylish decor. The Turkish eggs were phenomenal. This was the highlight of my stay in Silver Lake
In case the name isnt a clue, the menu is pretty plant centric. Proteins for the breakfast dishes are egg and chorizo. We tried the Turkish egg and Fattoush-y Salad. The greens were dressed well and the bread served in the dishes was delicious as well.
We came for dinner and enjoyed the service and the space. Sadly, the food was pretty average - crudités were just a random assortment of vegetables that didnt all feel like they were meant to be eaten raw (green beans?), and my cassoulet beans were undercooked. It was also very overpriced at $24 for a plate of vegetables. It wasnt a terrible experience but I dont think Ill be going back!
Lovely restaurant with amazing menu. Plenty of vegan and gluten free options. Delicious food, great matcha and homemade cashew milk. Loads of savory options and small marketplace of house made beet & walnut spread, tahini spreads, fresh produce & tea/coffee. Dinner looks awesome too.
Cute airy and bright cafe. Tasty healthy breakfast dishes and friendly service, but skip the fresh juice at $6 a pop.
