Botanic Garden of Turku in Turku
Description
Privilege
OK place probably much better in the summer when all the flowers are in bloom
Very interesting and diverse collection of plants.
Very beautiful botanical garden in breathtakingly stunning milieu. Entrance to the tropical greenhouses are 9 euros per visitor, but theres no shortage of things to see outside either where you can enter freely.
MoreHighly recommend for plant lovers
Children liked this place. Kiitos.
Visit this place to enjoy flora from all around the world. A great place for everyone to learn about different varieties of plants, shrubs and trees. Place is easily accessible on wheelchair and strollers as well. Has a nice cafe with both indoor and outdoor sitting. One can enjoy the outside area of the botanical garden for free. There is walking trail, lakes and cute bridges. It is just so colourful in summer.
MoreLow entrance fees, plants and trees from all over the world.
beautiful and interesting place. There are many tropical plants and flowers in the greenhouse. There is also a large area for hiking, lakes.
MoreVery nice and green place to enjoy lunch and have a look at various types of plants from around the world 😊 We had a great time for mothers day here. They served very delicious salads and breads. A nice strawberry cream cake was included along with tea and coffee too.
MoreVery impressive gardens, amazing (and very efficiently packedgreenhouses, and a delightful café. If you have a chance, order the cloudberry cheesecake. A lovely way to spend an afternoon.
MoreA very interesting and beautiful place, one of the best botanical gardens Ive seen. I highly recommend it :)
MoreThe Turku University Botanical Garden operating on the Island of Ruissalo is both a centre for scientific research and a public showcase for the fascinating world of plants. The outdoor and indoor gardens display over 5000 species and varieties of plants. Flourishing in the outdoor garden are e.g. annuals, meadow flowers, exotic trees and shrubs.A distinguishing feature of the new landscape are the three ponds containing colorful waterlilies and other wetland plants. The indoor gardens and cafe are open every day from 11am-5pm.
MoreIndoor and outdoor gardens. Keep an eye out for little birds too!
A lovely place to visit. Its free to walk the outside gardens, something I recommend on a lovely sunny day. The inside greenhouse is a good visit too with many varieties of plants to be found. Only downside is the amount of toilets, just one ladies, mens and disable. On a busy day you might need to que for a little.
MoreYou can find almost 5000 different kinds of plants there. The outside garden is free but inside is 9 euro per adult.
MoreBig enough for all ages to explore different plants
This was the best finnish botanical garden.
Beautiful gardens with a huge variety of plants. Free admission to the gardens, you only need to buy tickets if you want to visit the greenhouses.
MoreThis is a great place to visit. We spent 4 hours with kids. There is plenty of nice flowers from all over the world. In sum we recommend this place for families.
MoreProbably the best botanical garden in Finland.
I liked it! Much better than expected and just the casual and easy walk youf expect for an hour or two!
MoreLove it! :)
Very good maintenance of wide variety of plants. Most of the tropical plants are grown under artificial humid conditions.. good to see
MoreNice place for a coffee and check out changing exhibitions. Kids like it alot
Beautiful greenhouse and park. Great for long walks and picnic.
Nice
An amazing place with a rich assortment of plats and tropical flowers. Definitely recommend it for a casual outing or a family trip.
MoreWhat a beautiful botanic parkland!Ponds filled with white yellow pink and red water lillies, fringed with reeds and irises. There are fornal beds laid with fruit trees, annual and perennial plants, food plants such as grain types and every kind of bush and flowers.Everywhere plants are carefully and formally labelled. On a previous visit we saw a tomato plant grafted onto a potatoe plant with both shiwing great harvests! The sculpture park is starting to look a bit dated but would be fun and intresting for new visitors. There are huge glazed tropical gardens, cafeterias and washrooms. The gardens lead onto a seaside resort with swimming areas public saunas sports courts, camping and caravanning facilities, a spa hotel and a number of nearby restraunts and cafes. All in all a wonderful place for gardeners, botanists, tourists, families looking for a day out and holidaymakers. It is also perfect for school groups to see the wonderful variety of plants. If you are in the Turku area do not miss this delightful spot
MoreMaybe it doesnt have the richest plants collection, but it is definitely worth to visit. Paths are nice, whole area is clean, everything as it should be in a Botanic Garden.
MoreA really nice place! I have visited alot of botanical gardens. This has about 4 different big roms with different climate. Birds and frogs. They also sell some plants! Outdoors its also pretty. Actually the whole island is really close to turku and super pretty forests all around. If you live nature you sould visit this island and garden!
MoreA very nice botanical garden with huge variety of different plant and to my surprise different environments like tropical, deserty like and so on. Was worth the trip.
MoreGreat place, lots to see winter (insideor summer (outside). Watch out for the geese later in the summer near the lily ponds.
MoreThe best place at any time 🙏🏻
A nice small botanical garden, a small humid tropical forest in Ruissalo Island.
Excellent botanical garden, many different areas outside all well maintained. The indoors gardens have several different habitats and houses excellent places for sitting a while to enjoy the surroundings. This place also has a nice cafe with good selection of sweet and salty pastries.
MoreNot a very big, but a versitile botanic garden with halls divided by climate zones each with unique temperature, humidity and aroma. At the time of my visit, many plants had fruits. Perfect for winter visit. On-site services included toilets (inc. one for wheelchair users), a good caffee and small shop.
MoreI went on a Saturday. I took bus 8 from Turku, the bus left me just on the door. There are no indications in english, only finnish. The greenhouses are so complete but again information only in finnish. They sell small plants and seeds well identified. Outdoor garden is not really well conserved, maybe its because its winter time.
MoreOne of my favorite places in Turku. During the time the trees have leaves the outside garden is amazing. During winter the greenhouses let you escape the dark and cold. A year pass is cheap and totally worth it. I used this as my office once a week my last winter here and planning to do the same this year. Cafeteria is also nice.
MoreAlthough with slot of plant varieties from all over the world the greenhouses felt a little too cramped as one needs to fend of some of the plants to pass. Outside there are paths to see the surrounding area with sculptures and even a small windmill
MoreA really nice place to visit, also with kids. Entrance fees are reasonable and they also sell some plants and seeds. Highly recommended!
MoreThis is a fun stop to scratch your artistic itch. Come here to take some artsy pictures, enjoy a drive out of downtown Turku, or go on a short nature walk.
MoreGood trail to walk. Great variety if plants.Must see place in Turku
Awesome during Summer!!!! Beautiful especially during sunset! Great place to sit n relax n enjoy the view
MoreA great place to charge your lack of green. Different climates with relevant plants. Couple of birds and some fish and turtles to talk to. Could be a bit bigger. Also large areas of outdoor gardens.
MoreOne of the best publicly accessible gardens in Finland. Great with kids too. Extensive outdoor gardens and lush greenhouses. The cafeteria has a fairly small selection of things to eat with coffee or tea, but everything Ive ever tried has been tasty. Entrance fee to the greenhouses does not feel exaggerated.
MorePerfect way to spend a nice summer day in Turku. Enchanting atmosphere, also suitable for families.
MoreBeautiful and well maintained botanical garden. Time flies by while youre strolling through the free-of-charge outdoor parks and affordable greenhouses. Also has a nice cafe with tasty lunch option available.
MoreNice venue to discover many species of flowers and plants. You can also enjoy a picnic in the park.Highly recommended in June, when the flowers are blossoming.
MoreBeautiful gardens and greenhouses. The greenhouses closes at 5pm and the entrance cost 5€ but they are well worth a visit. Very family friendly!
MoreThe garden is a nice place to visit, unfortunately the cafeteria is not meant for families with small kids. Poor and unfriendly service, irrational pricing for children (lunch 5e for 0-4y!, warming up own baby food for 2 euros...). Food is average, wouldnt eat there again.
