Boston Stoker Coffee Co. in Upper Arlington
Description
Privilege
Outstanding coffee. Cigars case was a wonderful surprise.
Friendly and helpful staff, you can tell that they love coffee!
Love this place! The baristas are so nice and know the menu well! I got the Coffee Creamsicle ($6.25and the Sausage Breakfast Sandwich ($5.75). They were absolutely delicious. They make the best Breakfast Sandwiches! The decor is cute and they have a good pastry selection. This is also a great place to have a quick business meeting.
MoreSpent eight years at OSU hopping around coffee shops, and can say that without competition Boston Stoker has the best drip coffee in the city. Lots of shops that make good pour over will have gross drip, but not here. Fast delicious coffee every time. Also dont sleep on the lemon latte during the warm months.
MoreCoffee wasn’t good. But even worse than the coffee — one of the employees was sitting on the table GROSS! If she wasnt an employee shame on them, because no employee told her to move. I can only guess that she didnt wash the table after she got up. The table is for eating not for backsides and feet 🤢🤢🤢🤢
MoreIt was a Friday evening, and I was looking for a coffee shop. This place appeared in my search. So I popped in. I always love the coffee shop vibes, and this place has a cool vibe too. The barista guy was nice and smiling. I ordered my favorite iced mocha, and my mum got her usual drip coffee without sugar. The regular coffee was just regular, however the mocha was simply superlative. The coffee was aromatic, the chocolate was good, the sugar level was perfect. What else can I ask for! I do highly recommend the place for a good coffee.
MoreNifty little place! Not super busy, so its an excellent place to study and get good coffee fast. Theres a gender neutral restroom, but the place doesnt go all out for pride month like many other local coffeeshops do. They also didnt take my name. So its a place that wont call attention to your gender, basically, which can be nice.On a snobbier note, I got a plain oat milk latte like the pretentious barista I am. Im guessing that all their latte sizes come with a double-shot of espresso. Either my shot pulled long or their espresso is on the mild side, because the espresso wasnt very acidic. More nutty. The subtler espresso would be better in a 6oz cappuccino or a flavored latte than what I got. The nuttiness pairs well with oatmilk, though. Overall, I wasnt particularly amazed or disappointed by my drink.
MoreLove the vibe in here, and the plentiful dogs visiting with clientele. The coffee is pretty decent too.
MoreHad a really great pour over at Boston Stoker. Although the curb appeal in a strip mall made me pause, the vibe, coffee, and service was great. They had a wide range of their own beans, the barista was very knowledgeable (and made a quality pour over), and the tables/ambiance was chill. Highly recommend!
MoreAlways a friendly greeting when you walk in! Creative drinks, lots of beans to buy, and many brewing accessories. Great shop!
MoreSuper friendly staff. Whoever helped me order was super helpful and figuring out what to get. My new favorite coffee shop in Columbus!~~UPDATE~~I liked it so much I now work here! Being behind the bar has open my eyes to the quality behind the coffee and the training all baristas go through. If you want some bomb coffee come by and say hi
MoreSeriously every single drink I have had is incredible. Love the vibez too. Beautiful aesthetic
MoreMy go to when I visit. This place serves really good drinks. Great service, great vibe.
MorePart of our coffee stamp tour and definitely would come back here again in the future! Very friendly and helpful staff there! So they have a more thorough menu at the register which I think they should have it up on a board or something but thats fine.Got the Grogg (butterscotch carameland Milky Way (chocolate caramelhot coffees and reduced it to half the sweetness as hubs and I dont got the super sweet tooth. Also got cream cheese crumb cake and the apple turnover. LOVED the crumb cake!! It was crumbly and melts in your mouth, not at all dry as some can be. Pricey but soooooo worth it! I really enjoyed the Grogg too and Im glad they reduced the sweetness to a half.Staff was super awesome (as mentioned already- they were really nice to let us bring our newly adopted dog with us inside while we ate before we went to the nearby parks.
MoreVery solid, underrated coffee company. Great, consistent cups of coffee and lattes, and unique specialty drinks as well. I love the vibe of this place, its more low-key than some of the coffee shops around Victorian Village/University District/Short north, but thats what makes it special. More old-school coffee shop, less bright colors and LED lights. Super friendly and patient baristas. They also have a cool selection of coffee gear (and cigarsfor sale.
MoreGreat coffee.Good service.Great products to buy.A little pricey.I bought a cold mocha, hot mocha, cherry turnover, and a cool mug which cost over $40.
MoreOne of the most underrated coffee shops in Columbus, I think. If you get the right barista, the espresso is wonderfully pulled and their beans give their lattes a unique nuttiness. They also have a pretty good selection of coffee products - you know, coffee beans and different hardware in which to brew. Picked up a beanie from them a couple years ago and I still really like wearing it!
MoreThis was a really pleasant surprise. Its always a roll of the dice for me when I visit a new coffee shop because so many people out there just dont make good coffee. Boston Stoker was a very pleasant exception to the rule. Not only was the coffee excellent and the selection of food items enticing but everything was super clean and the two guys that work there never once stopped moving. They were always attending to customers or cleaning something up. An added bonus is that they also have a humidor with a selection of cigars and their outdoor patio area allows for the enjoying of a well-crafted latte and or a nice cigar. Luckily if cigars bother you there is plenty of outdoor room so you wont be bothered a bit.
MoreThis coffee shop is walking distance from my house and I love it. Great coffee and always nice staff. I highly recommend the iced mocha with oat milk :)
MoreBoston Stoker: great coffee, outstanding service, friendly/knowledgeable staff, and a company that ethically sources their beans. Not only do I appreciate the quality and consistency of their coffee, but I especially appreciate how kind and helpful their baristas are --- specifically Kayla Ritter! I have had nothing but positive experiences with Boston Stoker, and for that, I must give them five stars.Highly recommend!
MoreSublime staff and cold brew so delicious it’s doesn’t even need cream or sugar. Can’t wait to return and indulge in one of their unique beverages like the Cafe Cola or a signature latte.Their menu also features seasonal and rotational blends.
MoreJust stopped in for a Grogg pour over. I usually don’t try my coffee this way. While waiting, I Serenity went out of her way to explain the process when I asked. She gave fantastic customer service. This is my first time at this BS location, and I am grateful to have it in the neighborhood! I will definitely be back. Great job, Serenity!
MoreThis is a really cool little coffee shop that also sells tabaco products. The baristas are friendly and very knowledgeable in coffee and also do more advanced pours like pour overs and latte art. There is plenty of outlets to charge laptops and phones to work from. They also have outdoor seating which is rare for a small location located in a plaza. It’s nice that they are open to indoor seating since many coffee shops in the area only offer takeout which doesn’t make sense. If you’re serious about your coffee I highly recommend this place!
MoreAwesome coffee shop off the beaten path from the short north area! Good parking right outside and the coffee is pretty inexpensive. Great atmosphere on the inside and a very chill vibe inside!
MoreI worked for this location for a few months about a year ago and loved every second of it. I saw the passion that went into creating the beverages that I enjoyed so much. I still frequent the shop to this day and love see all the new faces that have joined the team since my departure. Keep of the good work!
MoreI come to Boston Stoker almost weekly, and theres a reason for that! Multiple reasons. Get the Kenyan Mocha while its still in season. It has a nice spice and fruitiness with the chocolate mocha flavor, and I like that its a bit thicker. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the breakfast sandwiches are really good. I mean, really good. I dont know why they arent advertised more. For $5, Ive never had a better breakfast sandwich.
MoreGood quality coffee and food options. Nice interior too. Less crowded than others.
MoreI dont know why, but I was shocked by the quality of the coffee here. Its affordable and a very quiet spot to study. I will be returning here often. The last few times Ive ordered a Chemex (because I was sharing with someone elseof an Ethiopian coffee, and it was quite good.
MoreThis is my husband’s favorite coffee shop in Columbus right now. They have a lot of fun “coffee cocktails” and unique drink combinations. I’m pretty sure they have cigars you can purchase as well. It’s not very big but we usually don’t struggle to find a place to sit.
MoreThis is the best coffee shop in Columbus. The inside isnt too big, but the coffee here is better than anywhere else in Columbus. The staff is always friendly and fast. The vibe is low-key but nice. If youre looking for an energy jolt the cold brew here has the most caffeine.
MoreWe havent bought any other coffee for our home in ten years. As for the cafe, its quite unique in that instead of various flavors of a-pound-of-sugar-in-liquid-form, they feature various of their roasts and blends in different brew methods. A coffee shop for people who want to taste coffee.
MoreIt was like... OK. The coffee is very sour and I prefer a less tart roast; I had to pour out half of it and replace the rest with my own coffee when I got home. The bagel was fine but it’s really hard to do a bad bagel.
MoreGreat coffee, excellent customer service, and it has a comfortable vibe. Definitely recommend! 🙂
MoreI really enjoy their aesthetic and the quality of the coffee is good... but I always seem to catch the end of a french press batch and usually have to chew the last sips of my morning coffee. Not ideal, but the flavor and quality keeps me coming back. Their cold brew is definitely one of my faves (better than Staufs, and maybe a dead heat with Luck Bros in my mind).
MoreI came here for the first time because I heard from a friend that her favorite matcha latte was from here. I didnt get the latte, but I got the 16oz sweet matcha hot tea and that was good! A few drinks come in 2 sizes and I got the big size, which comes with a cup and extra tea that comes in something that looks like a light bulb for about $3. It was creamy (with no cream), hot, and sweet! I love matcha and I think this was done very well.Theres limited seating available, plenty of parking, and free WiFi. I will say, the wifi was very spotty when we were there.I recommend this place for a casual date, to study, their unique teas, and for a chill atmosphere. The barista was very friendly and patient. The decorations were cute and they also offer a selection of coffee to buy! They also sell various pastries, chocolate, and other coffee related items, but I didnt get any.
MoreCute little place. Their coffee is really good too! I got a French press and yeah, no complaints. The guy working there was friendly and the atmosphere was quiet; no loudly talking people to distract from the reading. I would definitely recommend.
MoreI love Boston Stoker, the coffee is amazing and I like the atmosphere but as someone who normally visits the Dayton area locations, I do not like the Columbus location as much. The staff never seem interested or friendly.4 stars because of the great coffee and reputation, but one off because of the service at this location.
MoreHuge round roasty notes welcome you in as you walk up. The door was open, and I noticed a, "no hate zone," sticker on the front window. I smiled as two nice folks welcomed me in. Wonderful vibes even before you get to order. The baristas were super knowledgeable, and treated my family and me like close friends. This very much feels like a coffee shop Id hit up back home in Colorado. Good vibes all around, and their house Orange/Lavender latte is mad fresh! Thanks again fam. Ill be back in a few months to visit my sister, and this has become our new spot!
MoreI was expecting this place since it is a small chain to be more like a Starbucks thankfully that was not my experience. It’s a little off the beaten path of the Short North, but is well worth it and they have a parking lot which none of the other Short North coffee shops have. It’s very cozy on the inside and the drinks are fantastic very knowledgeable barista which is always a bonus. I ended up getting two drinks both of the specials because the first one was so good. I got the lavender and orange latte first, the presentation was outstanding and so was the taste then I got the old fashioned cold brew which was a great little mocktail, but could have been a little bigger.
MoreDelicious single origin french press and pour over coffees, great tasting espresso blend, and very friendly staff that enjoy talking coffee. They direct purchase from long-time relationship foreign coffee farmers. And they roast their coffee. Great coffee shop.
MoreThis was my fourth stop on the Columbus Coffee Experience. The coffee was decent, wifi reliable/easily accessible, and staff were fast and friendly. Parking wasnt a problem at all. I felt that the location was smaller and less convenient than coffee shops closer to campus though.
MoreI spent my late teens at the original in Dayton, drinking wondrously strong coffee and smoking cigarettes I was JUST old enough to buy at the time.20 years, 70 miles and a smoking ban later, the coffee’s still amazing. Now if they could remove the word “stoker” from their name without injuring the brand. . . And maybe just offer a cup of coffee without a whole tray, complete with spoon holder and reserve cup. The presentation’s great— but service and coffee are better.
MoreMy favorite coffee shop in town. Boston Stokers is where I get my beans for home because I think they have the most consistent selection of excellent quality single origin beans. They also make my favorite latte in town. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and the shop is clean and has a great atmosphere. It’s not as cozy as some of the other shops in town and I rarely set up there for a long day of work, but for the highest quality coffee in Columbus I think this is the place to beat.
MoreThis is my favorite coffee shop in Columbus for a reason. Well, for many reasons! The staff is the friendliest buncha baristas Ive ever met, and they know how to have fun while also taking their craft seriously. So glad to have a place that approaches coffee as a culture and makes obvious efforts to bring awareness to the community about where coffee comes from and why its important. Plus, the atmosphere is clean and comfortable; a great spot to get some reading done!
MoreReally good coffee by people who know and love what they are doing. Awesome set up inside with a great patio outside. They are friendly and answer questions for the beginner coffee lover. Would go again
MoreAbsolutely wonderful coffee, and the staff members were helpful and efficient. The space itself was open and great for studying. The only potential downside was that they only offer one size. If youre in the mood for a large coffee, this isnt the place. However, if you are good with a regular size thats tasty, its totally fine.
MoreGreat coffee place. They make everything to order on the spot. So have 5 minutes. The only thing theyll have immediately is cold brew served cold, and if you are early enough some french press. Everything else is ground dor each cup and they do a pourover. I personally go here for the tea. They steep only looseleaf, great varieties, and will resteep for free if you are so inclined. Food wise they have a few pastries from local shops and bagels, but there is other food nearby. Great, competent, friendly staff.
MoreLocation was a bit a weird place. I didnt have a car, but I needed to go to the CVS next door, so decided to stop by here for a caffeine treat. The space was so spacious and it was such a perfect place to curl up with a good book or do some work on your laptop. The iced latte was amazing and love it that its direct coffee beans with the farmer. The baristas seemed to love their jobs - talking to their customers and being super personable. Restroom was super clean as well.
MoreFree wifi, easy parking, and one of the best iced lattes in Columbus. Great atmosphere for studying or getting work done, and the espresso drinks Ive had were perfect. In general, the baristas are knowledgeable about the beans and leaves, and theres a fair assortment of pastries. This is one of my go-to coffee shops!
MoreThis is hands-down the best coffee shop in Columbus. The coffee is delicious and makes Crimson Cup and Stauffs (Cup o Joetaste like dog water. The service is always exceptional and friendly. Its a little higher priced, but its quality is incomparable to any other coffee shop in Columbus.
