1 Faneuil Hall Market Pl, Boston, MA 02109, United States, Boston
Local quick-serve chain branch ladling an array of chowders with bread bowl option, plus sandwiches.
So excited to get a cup of lobster bisque….it tastes like creamy plastic. So so disappointed. My fault for getting it at a food court.
Pretty good spot in Faneuil Hall , thats the big Quincy Market indoor dining and shopping place across from the back end of City Hall. Subway stops right here - the Green line to Government Center stop . We got one of their special deals - thats a Buttered Lobster Roll with your choice of soup or chowder and a small drink for $33 . We tried the clam chowder and also ordered a Small Lobster Bisque for $10 approx. The Bisque was tasty, I thought it was better than the clam chowder though its thinner but has a nice flavor. Not overpowering. One lobster roll is enough for two to share if you get an extra small soup fyi. Good luck finding a seat and table at 12 noon ! This spot gets busy but worth stopping if youre a touristYou can buy Boston Tshirt and other souvenirs at some of the stalls around the sides .
I tried the hot lobster roll and it was fabulous. So fresh, delicious, and better than I expected. The special came with their famous clam chowda. Omg. The best. So flavorfull, creamy, and perfect. I see why they have won awards for this.
We went there because of their good reviews. It was okay. Maybe because of the high stars, I expected too much. The shrimp roll is actually better than the lobster roll lol
The cold Lobsta roll combo with clam chowder was amazing. Worth the trip to Boston.
Pros: The location and nameCons: customer service, taste of clam chowder (tastes like canned soup!!)
We had a cold Maine lobster roll, New England calm chowda and Plymouth Corn Chowda in a bread bowl. Everything was delicious.
Delicious and friendly service! Price was just on the expensive side
Cannot go under 1 sadly. Most disgusting lobster I have ever had and seriously $50. The lobsters are boiled then left in a bath of water with heat. The corn was cattle corn left to boil in water for ??. Worse they assume people want the the tail split I kept yelling to stop not sure if they charged me for 2 lobsters or 1 but got an unsplit lobster after complaining. No one who knows lobsters would want the shell pre broken (4 year old daughter ate it said it was not good she normally east 3 when i cook themThe clam chowder was fair. The facilities are disgusting noisy the bathrooms are cleaner then the places to eat. For 1/2 the money you can eat at many fine restaurants. Skip this tourist trap it is the 2nd worst I have been too in over 40 countries and 48 states
Its a nice place that provides a combo of two Bostons signature dishes: New England clam Chowda and lobster roll. Its a bit pricy ($34but the amount of lobster in the roll is sure worth the price. However, youll have to share the seating area with dozens of other shops in Faneuil Hall Marketplace, which is a hassle during dinner time.
While in Boston, one of the things I was looking forward to the most besides Lobster Bisque was the Clam Chowder! While going to Boston Chowda I made sure to get anything I was the bit least curious about. I ended up getting the New England Clam Chowder, Rockport Lobster Bisque and Cold Maine Lobster Salad Roll. The New England Clam Chowda was definitely the best clam chowder I have had in Boston. If you are ever in Boston this place is a must if you like chowder. The Rockport Lobster Bisque was really good as well. The only thing is it was all liquid. I learned here that if you wanted lobster chunks ask for Lobster Chowder. I can only imagine how amazing the Lobster Chowder would have been. The only downfall is the Cold Maine Lobster Salad Roll. Disgusting was the only way to put it. After I took a bite I threw it away since it tasted like a stomach ache waiting to happen.Overall, the soups were pretty good, best Ive had in Boston. Next time I go to Boston I will definitely stop by this place again!
This spot is well worth the visit! The lobster grilled cheese is out of this world and the new england chowder was phenomenal. One hundred percent would recommend!
A staff here took my 20 dollar for a chowda soup, I saw the price is only around 9 bucks.
Its okay, pricey, abit bland for the lobster roll, but the clam cowder taste good.
It was just ok. Union Oyster House chowder is much better. This chowder was a little too thin and not mostly potato. Union oyster house soup consistency was perfect with enough finely cut clams to taste clams in every bite.
If you’re visiting Boston, definitely this is a place to drop by. Very traditional clam chowder and lobster roll.It tasted really good. The clam chowder is offered in three sizes or you can choose to have it in the Italian bread.Even though the food was good it felt like a very touristic place. It was really crowded, no place to seat. We had to go outside and seat by the sidewalk.
I ordered Manager Special yesterday. Before covid-19, the taste was OK. But currently, the price is higher and the taste is NOT GOOD. Lobster Roll: Roll bread is old, Lobster does not have much meat. Clam Chowder: soup is thin. Very disappointed.
Good clam chowder. Lines moved faster than I expected it to.
I choose Boston Chowda Co because of the huge line. I tried a Hot Buttered Maine Lobster Roll Special ($40.65which included lobster roll, a soup that was lobster bisque in my case, crackers and a glass of soda. I would say that the food was good, fresh, and tasty. However, is it worth standing in a queue when other places with also good reviews and less prices are empty? Maybe, I don’t know, I haven’t had a chance to try them.
Lobster roll was ok the Chowder was too soupy, nothing spectacular about this place. I don’t think it’s worth $40 for the meal. Definitely tourist price.
Hot Buttered Lobster Roll combo with Clam Chowder was the absolute best I have ever had! Worth every penny! My family also enjoyed some home style Mac and cheese. Super good as well!
The chowder had a very great taste but I feel it could be a bit more warmer to enjoy.
Ordered the lobster pot pie which was okay. It was reheated after we ordered it, the topping is bread crumbs but theres no crust below. 4 stars for the amount of lobster bisque but would have done 3 stars for the taste.
Great New England Clam Chowder and fast service. It has just consistency I was looking for and large pieces of seafood throughout the cup. I got the medium and it comes along with oyster crackers. You can stand at the tables nearby inside or sit outside on a stone bench.
Good Lobster Roll and Chowda!I prefer the Hot Lobster roll over the Cold Roll.Neat Tourist Spot inside Quincy Market.
Out of all of the food options in the hall, the lobster rolls won our hearts. The food is delicious and the staff was very friendly. Its a little pricey, but seriously worth the stop!
Ordered the famous buttered lobster roll. It tasted really great and it is a good one time try. It is definitely too expensive, for the quantity. The rate varies as per lobster market rate, we paid around $37 for one small roll.
A tiny bit pricey for what it was but definitey worth a try. Everyone here talks about chowder, but I also loved their lobster mac and cheese.
The lobster rolls and clam chowders are out of this world. Highly recommend the manager special! Great staff and fast service!
The lobster roll was very tasty. However, at a price of 40 dollars for a set meal, I feel like other stores in this area are as good. The cashier was also extremely impatient and I had a bad experience. It’s probably more for tourists.
This is my moms first time to Boston, so I had to take her to quincy Market! I love it because you can check out so many different kinds of foods in one building. Boston Chowda is one of those great places my mom and I decided to try and we are so glad we did! We got a small cup of their clam chowda and Manhattan chowda and we shared a Lobster roll. Wow! The clam chowder was smooth, creamy, and thick. My moms Manhattan chowda was full of veggies in a red sauce that she loved. She was so excited to get some of this chowda and she was in heaven! Now the Lobster roll--small, but stuffed with tons of thick Lobster pieces including the claw, which was my moms favorite part. We loved that the Lobster was wrapped in a brioche bun. It made the Lobster pop even more. This is definitely worth a stop for delicious food! The service was great and quick as well.
Hands down best lobster roll in Boston!! It came out super fast and was so delicious!! Both the cold and hot lobster rolls were great. The hot one was better! The seasoning was perfect and the bread was toasted with salted butter. It was such a perfect balance of salt and the sweetness of the lobster. The chowda was amazing! It had huge chunks of lobster in it. It is expensive, but so worth it.!!
You have to get the lobster melt! It’s a little pricey but they put so much lobster meat in it! Everything came out really quickly. We also tried the corn chowder and clam chowder. It was to die for! It was really fun to go through such a fast paced process surrounded by a lot of people. I would highly recommend eating here or if you’re going to the market place
Got the New England clam chowder and it was delicious! Couldn’t taste the difference from all the other clam chowders I’ve had but it was good. One thing to note is that I usually only get clam chowders in places that are known for their clam chowders. It was quite cheap compared all other foods there but the portion is really small…it was 7 bucks for a very small container. You’re supposed to get something else with it pretty sure.
Chowder was so flavorful. Lobster roll was fresh but seemed rather bland. I was looking for a bit more sauce or some condiment. Lobster tasted great, but not $30 great. $45 for a roll, a large soup, and a lemonade.
Worst lobster roll in Quincy’s market.Lobster was over cooked and tough. Not enough flavor (lobster butter or garlic)Lobster bisque had nothing but cream. Completely bland.
Clam chowder and lobster roll were delicious and a great price. My friend and I shared both as a snack. We got our food quickly and the staff was friendly. Recommend it if you want clam chowder or a lobster roll at a fair price.
I had the best lobster roll and the best clam chowder I’ve ever had at this restaurant. It’s a small restaurant in the Quincy Market. The food was amazing. Ordered the buttered lobster roll and the clam chowder in a bread bowl with a lemonade. The lady at the register was super nice and made our order super fast. Will definitely come back when I’m back in Boston.
When we went here they let us try clam chowder and lobster bisque. I liked the clm chowder better. We got clam chowder and lobster roll. Both of them were outstanding. Hot and juicy. Lobster pieces were fresh and buttery and the clam chowder was creamy and tasty. It was a bit expensive but lobsters are expensive and this one was worth it.
Hands down to the fresher and tastier Lobster Roll. Crispy bread on the outside but fluffy in, the lobster is fresher than you can imagine, flavor is something else. Definitely a must do in Boston, especially in Quincy Market. Line can seem a little long, but they serve fast. Another stuff to try out, clam chowder of course and the lobster mac n cheese. Not cheap at all, but worth every single penny. I will definitely be back on my next visit to Boston
Ate the clam chowder bread bowl and a warm lobster roll. Both were excellent with the clam chowder really blowing us away. Warm, tasty, and not too expensive. I think I would have preferred the cold lobster roll more. Food came out quick and hot.
With a ton of options to choose at Quincy Market, I found this to be the one for the day. The Boston chowder bread bowl was perfect and filling. Also tried the shepherds pie which was delicious and flavoured as I remember having it before. The service was good and despite all the rush, it was a delight to eat from here.
While visiting Boston in a really chilly weather, we were feeling like getting a nice cup of soup. What’s better than soup? Chowder! What’s better than a cup of soup? Chowder in a bread bowl!!!You have some good options when you are at Faneuil Hall, and I heard Boston Chowda does really nice bread bowl. So, we decided to get one from there. Also, their lobster roll on the display looked amazing, so we decided to get that too.We got the New England Clam Chowda in Bread Bowl. The bread bowl was a nice size, and it was surprisingly good. Chowder was good too, lots of little potatoes. Creamy and comforting, great on a cold day!Hot Buttered Lobster Roll is their signature sandwich. It didn’t look like the display, the one on display had maybe twice as much lobster meat in there… Anyways, it was sooo buttery! It still had a nice amount of lobster meat, soft and juicy. However, one of the lobster meat had big shells attached to it, which was annoying… Other than that, it was very tasty! It was the perfect lunch for us, exactly what we wanted. The price was affordable too. Nice spot to try some Boston lobster roll and clam chowder!
The food is so good. But then again I am sure most of the lobster rolls in Boston are good. But this had one of the longest lines and there had to be a reason why everyone was lining up here. The lobster roll was to die for. We had the clam chowder in a bread bowl along with the mac and cheese as well. Everything came out so good. It was a little pricey, but then again it is all lobsters so was to be expected. Plus this place is geared towards tourists.
Never miss it when people are lining up for it.Chefs set including one lobster roll, one new England chowder soup, and a cup of any soda. Lobster meat in the roll are really fresh and delicate. Clam chowder was thick and flavorful! Would prefer more butter in the bun tho.Price is not cheap but definitely worth trying!
It’s known for the New England style lobster. I had my dinner with the manager’s special combo deal. It seems much economic with respect to what you are paying. I paid ~30$for a hot lobster roll ( a buttery hotdog bun, stuffed with hot buttery lobster meat). And a a cup of soup (I got the clam chowder and a bottle of drink ( I choose water. Honestly, theHot lobster roll seems little bland for me. May be the colder version ( lobster salad with mayo, which costs less!would be better. However, the soup was delicious, I missed some hot sauce / Tabasco !You pay, grab the food and come outside to find a bench/ table. If you have bad luck, you might not find a place to sit, as the place is pretty crowded in day time.
Absolutely delicious...well worth the wait. And there are two lines on each side of the booth-get on the shorter! I got the special which is a main lobster roll and New England clam chowder. This is the best I’ve had by far! Chowder was seasoned, hot, not too salty/fishy, tons of clams, not overpowered by the potatoes. Very generous portions of the lobster, the roll was buttered, toasted on the outside and soft on the inside. Delicious!
WHAT TO TRY???The lobster roll. The Boston chowder. This place is located inside Faneuil hall. Theres always a line here so if you see a line, youre mostly at the right place. Theyre known for their lobster roll. I like their roll because its served hot in butter. The bun was crispy on the outside. The clam chowder was alright though. Nothing that special but if its your first time in boston, make sure you try the chowder. The lobster roll can come as a combo that comes with a small chowder and a soft drink. Quite a deal if you take advantage of it for a nice lunch.LAST TIP?!You can also have the clam chowder served in a sourbread bowl if you havent tried it already. I normally cant finish the bread bowl though, but you can definitely feed the birds with the left over bread if you like. I usually just get the regular chowder without the bread though.
Good, quick and clean. The line was moving, the food was grooving. I got the hot lobster roll with butter it was great. I wish I had more from them it all looked good. My wife said the broccoli and cheese soup was good as well. We would eat there again. Good stuff Boston Chowda Co.
Fast, good, ok chowder (so much potato not enough clam!great hot buttered lobster roll! Theres a lot of other lobster roll places here and its slightly more expensive. But. Theres constantly people ordering here so at least u know their food is fresh and turning over.
