Borshi Castle in Tepelene

Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. It is a but of a walk but totally worth it, and the view is spectacular. You can take a look inside the building and climb some rocks.

It should be a great place. But never ended works of restoration make this place nothing more than a brunch of ruin. Great view of the sea.

Do visit when around! Although not much of a castle but ruins of a castle, once you reach the top the view is stunning. From the mountains to Corfu, the panorama is breathtaking. Visited in mid August and met no other people at the castle nor on the way up, only a local kid selling some goods next to the road :)

The view was excellent! Yet, it was quite risky to climb as rocks could fall from the rocky side of the way. The castle and the oldest remaining mosque throughout the riviera need much more upkeep...

A true gem hardly spotted from bellow but offers great views towards the seaside and the inland mountains and roads.Parking a car below the path that leads towards the castle - or at least what is lefto from the old days.Although there is close to nothing written about it in the area - only a brief description at the bottom of the path, you can search for more on Wikipedia.

If you can go up one hour before sunset, you’ll have nice light on the flowers inside, the mosque and the panoramic mountains. Beautiful little site to explore, wear good shoes!

A place to visit if you go to Borsh

Its one of those little gems you dont wana miss. Highly suggested to visit this little castle especially for a hike day.

We visited this place as one of the activities during the south outdoor festival. The guides Rino and Ledjan were very friendly and are clearly devoted to their work of architectural restauration and archeology. Their English was good. They were also kind enough to start the tour a little later for us.The site itself is in need of restauration so you will have to use your imagination a bit, especially for the older parts. Not everything is easy to reach so expect to do some hiking if want to get a full picture. Once at the top you have a beautiful view to enjoy.

Picturesque road to the castle. It is quite broken place, but walking over stones can be an adventure. And the view from the top is really nice.

The castle is protected says on the writing but it is deteriorating from day to day. The walls are almost down. Prepare to walk as it is reachable by car till a certain point of the road (btw the road by car is recently restored)Its risky to enter on the inside of the mosque due to the cracks on the ceiling. The view of Borsh is breathtaking from the castle latitude. Not much to see except the mosque, the sea and the view of the mountains.

Doesnt look that impressive from beneath, but once you reach the top (try to get as far as possible by car), you can see from the remnants how impressive the castle was that once stood hereImpressive sights in all directions.You can enter the mosk and climb the minaret

Interesting place with good views 360 but... Attention !!! Dont try to get to the castle by car when good asphalt road is finished. Leave your car under the hill and go 🚶600m

Beautiful castle. Google maps shows you can drive up there but you cant. Park at the bottom in front of the houses than walk up. Its about 15 min walk.

Get a guide when coming here and you will experince the scene of walking in an inhabitation more than 3500 years old.

It is a castle built on the village of borsh, has a very beautiful view where you can see the sea and the mountains on the other side, 10 minutes walk!

It took 15 minutes to the top. In the gate we met sheeps. Its perfect mixture of the nature and history. Castle was quite big, but now you can see just mosque and ruins.

Decent hill to climb - we managed the drive up in our small fiat hire car which was fine, you then have approx 10/15 minutes walk but steep. Amazing view, not at all ruined by mass tourism. You can climb up the old staircase in the mosque to the roof. Only criticism is a lack of info on the history there, but it’s all on google to read about

This castle/fortress has a very long history and it’s very little spoken about. Don’t remember the full details as it’s history spans over multiple centuries and eras of conflicts in the region, but one of the wars that really ran it to the ground was with a Venetian fleet.In later years a local mosque was built over the ruins due to the region falling pray to the Turkish invasions.

Beautiful spot, even in the October rain. Also one of the few geocaches on the Albanian coast can be found here. Nice walk.

Its pretty raw, no admission, attendant, nor placards informing vizitors. The mosque is quite exceptional with murals amd what not

Borshi castle is a touristc attraction. It is listed in a touristic guides. Borshi castle is a famous for Its glorious resistence against enemies . It is a historical Castle which has a great arcitecture from the otoman time it is a landmark and a object of study. It is situated in the most dominant point of view in order to keep the place under control. It is worth it to visit it.

Very romantic place a top a steep hill where the EC built a walled footpath to the castle ruins, both nowadays a bit rugged. No signs explaining the site, but very easy to discover. Ruins of an old mosque amidst the rubbl9e.
