Børsen Spiseri in Svolvaer
Description
Privilege
Great experience. Food was very high quality and the monk fish very tasty. Service at the table was great and attentative. The guy welcoming (or notus into that restaurant was very unfriendly.
MoreThe atmosphere is magic in this very old authentic building in Svinoya island. Perfect match of traditions with modern twist!
MoreServing whales classify you as 1 star by default.
Nice, authentic place, good food. Starter was the stockfish, the best piece we had. Catch of the Day was Monkfish, was a bit dry but ok overall. For Dessert we had burnt cheesecake, was not similar to the one in San Sebastian but it was ok. We cannot say it’s a price for value place but was ok to try once..
MoreReally great food and a wide Varieté of wines - including very good non-alcoholic ones. Absolutely worth ist price!
MoreWe ordered the starter Taste of Lofoten and the mains - catch of the day, stockfish and whale steak. The food did not leave much of an impression despite the heftier price tag (even for dining out in Norway). But the portions are substantial. Service was average - we had to ask the waitress to explain the dishes.

Really really great restaurant! More than loved it! Very kind.
I stayed at Svinøya for two days and had a great experience. The restaurant deserves 5 stars for the food, but one star is held back because the staff was uncoordinated, messing up unnecessary simple things.
MoreVery good food
Excellent presentation, delicious food. Stockfish for main course is highly recommended! The portions were big, there was a bowl of steamed potato came with the fish. Maybe can choose to skip starter or dessert if your stomach is small. The location is not very convenient, some 20 minutes walking from Svolvær centre.
MoreOne of our better meals in Lofoten. We tried everything on the menu and enjoyed all the appetizers (taste of Lofoten, Smoked Whale, Halibut), the desserts (Cloudberry Cake, Sea Buckthorn Sorbetand the mains, in particular the Skrei and Cauliflower. Id skip the Stockfish Royale - its ok but fresh fish is much better than this slightly chewy substance...
MoreBeutiful interior and best the food I had on Lofoten.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Definitely try any tørrfisk item on the menu
MoreTraditional Norwegian food in an old barn setting
we stop here for a lunch with amzing local food
Beautiful setting right on the water with very good food and friendly staff. I’m not giving 5 stars for the very meagre glass of wine.
MoreWe had dinner at this place and got a table inside. The restaurant seems to be an historic building with low ceiling, visible beams and uneven floor - very charming in my opinion. We decided to just share a starter and did the Taste of Lofoten and got a lovely cured piece of whale, stockfish brandade and a great smoked arctic char. There was also some lovely fresh bread on the table that were awesome! When we got the mains served, the waitress had mixed up our order so she had to take the food back. The result was that my risotto with marinated stockfish were kept while they were making the right dish for my wife. Due to this the risotto was a bit lukewarm and overdone by the time I got it - but it did taste very good. My wife had the whale steak and that was prepared right and were tender and tasty. I ended the meal with a pannacotta with cloudberries that were also great - the pannacotta had the right consistency and it was great to have the berries on top to give a link to the area. All in all, one of the best meals in Lofoten. Menu is quite limited and it would be great to see more fresh fish on the menu. Remember to book in advance as this is a popular restaurant.
MoreUnique dishes using the local produce, stock fish, whale, and other Lofoten delicacies. The nemesis chocolate cake dessert was hands-down the best Ive ever had.
MoreBest Whale beef I ever ate. Nice atmosphere and good services.
Great food and cosy, local atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!
The real wow experience in eating cod but also in being served in a decent Norwegian way. Wed loved it so much, especially on Valentine!Thank you staff and cooks for the delicious food in a real cosy atmosphere.
MoreI had high expectations after having read this restaurants excellent reviews, but in the end I was quite disappointed. The ambience in this restaurant is incredible and the waitress who welcomed us to our table was both swift and service-minded. Those are the two positive points about this restaurant. The first disappointment became a fact before we even entered the restaurant. On the day of the restaurant visit, the menu was changed. I had been looking forward to a traditional Norwegian Christmas meal, but that was completely gone from the menu. Instead of pinnekjøtt or ribbe, I ended up ordering a stockfish soup and a lamb shank. The soup was OK, but I wouldnt say it is worth the 150 NOK... and I would never order it again. The lamb shank was acceptable. Very tender, but also somewhat dry. It lacked a bit of salt and there was nowhere near enough sauce. Alongside there were mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. The mashed potatoes were tastiest part of the dish and I find that to be somewhat depressive. Definitely not worth the price of 350 NOK.Because of the mediocre dishes, I decied not to order any dessert.Im not visiting again.
MoreThe interior is cozy, the service is excellent and multilingual. The food was decent, but does not justify the prices in my opinion.
MoreDefinitely you will enjoy Lofoten taste. Especially fish soup has different flavor and taste from others which are served in Trondheim and Bergen. Interior of this restaurant has nice mood you can feel old Norway.
MoreFood is a lottery. Half of the dishes we ordered was good, the other half was average. Nothing was extraordinary apart from the prices, which are above the norwegian average. Don’t order the cheese platter, it’s very bland. Service is ok, so is the interior decoration. We had a bottle pf Chablis and paid 180 eur for 2 ppl (2 starters, 2 main, 1 dessert - the cheese). I wouldn’t go back.
MoreVery overrated restaurant. High prices for average food. Small portions. As advantages can mention friendly staff and good wine list.
MoreNice location and atmosphere. Great food. Love the stockfish/dried cod. Expensive.
Moretruly wonderful experience. historical quayside warehouse with traditional interior, delicious local produce (Lofoten platter - whale + arctic char + stockfish; reindeer, tørrfisk and boknafiskand caring staff are the place hallmark. THE place to dine in Svolvær!
MoreExcellent restaurant serving locally caught fish and other traditional meals. Its located in an ex shipyard from the 1800s still kept in pristine state with its old wooden structure.Overall its probably the best spot to enjoy a nice fish dinner in the whole Svolvær area!
MoreFriendly staff giving amazing service. Food was very good, both meat and fish. Beware that the desserts are very sweet and might just a little to much after a filling starter and main. I would definitely come back to this place again.
MoreGood food, but not as good as I was expecting it to be, so slightly disappointed with my main dish. I guess its a tad over-hyped. However, the interior is beautiful.
MoreBeautiful meal.....reindeer medium-rare cooked to perfection. Halibut cooked beautifully in a yummi sauce.Lovely Tempranillo from Spain!!To finish.....local cheeses were so good with honey, rhubarb chutney & strawberry jam. Thanks Jacob who was an outstanding waiter 😊
MoreA beautiful restaurant and delicious food! The service was excellent as well, Jakub, our server doubled as an encyclopedia of knowledge and shared a lot of great suggestions for the rest of our trip in Norway. We had a few of their fish dishes and the stater that included smoked whale. Everything was fresh and excellent!
MoreIts a romantic restorant with a particular wooden design. The service was excellent, with fresh bread, olives and "Home soup shot" included. We ordered a starter and main courses; portions were big enough.Dishes were very nice to see, but the taste was even better! From your table you can watch the sea and the harbour.
MoreDespite visiting in the off season, this is still a great place to experience. The stockfish is indeed the speciality, and is really nicely done (even as someone who rarely eats fish). The local starter plates were also excellent. Service superb, as expected. Prices are a little high, but for such a unique restaurant they could be far more excessive.Weird choice of Christmas music whilst we there in late January though.
MoreVery good food.
Good food, friendly atmosphere, great company! Beautiful village!!!!
Amazing stockfish, but the service wasn’t on-par with the food, given the prices.
MoreVery good food and great ambiance
We had an amazing dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The menu is a reflection of the local food sources which means fish and lamb. The food was tasty, artfully combined and beautifully arranged. The staff is well trained and attentive. A truly wonderful experience. Remember to reserve a table, they do get very busy.
MoreThis is probably the best place to try cod in a few nice variations, being my favourite the grilled stockfish. The restaurant lies on a very small island connected by a bridge and only 10 minutes walking from the town centre.
MoreGood, not memorable. I had high expectations, but the food it’s just average. The service is competent, the prices are high (as everywhere in Norway). Reservation recommended. The place is nice, it’s an old warehouse.
MoreFive stars is not enough for this fabulous restaurant. Best salmon, best boknafisk = dried cod, best arctic char and great desserts. Prices are on the high side, but it was worth every cent.Nice location, nice interior, nice service. Highly recommended. Make sure you reserve.
MoreHistorical exchange building on a wharf with views over the bustling martime town of Svolvær.Charming and friendly staff provide beautifully presented and delicious meals in a suave but unfussy environment. There is a large terrace overlooking the water at the quayside which basks in 24 hour daylight during high summer.
MoreExcellent local fish in a well preserved original boathouse dating back to 1800s. The Bacaloa was superb and the service very good. There are some interesting old photos of fishing activities in the area too. Highly recommended.
MoreWonderful food! Excellent friendly staff! Outstanding experience altogether tgank uou so much 😍😍😍
MoreExcellent food, wonderful atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. A lovely evening meal!
MoreNice food. Some really traditional, but very tasty. Nice atmosphere. Staff needs to be more present.
MoreNice environment. Good service, very good food! I ate todays catch, which was halibut. The fish almost melted on the tongue, and the accompaniments were very good.
