Books On the Square - Book Shop in East Providence, United States
There is nothing like browsing in an independent bookstore. The staff is so helpful and personable. Their reading suggestions are always spot on. I love BOTS!
greaT seLecTion ..nice sTaff .
What a fun shop! We had a great experience here. If I lived nearby, Id visit often.
When we go to red stripe we tell my son if he’s good he can stop after and pick a book- it’s a great spot and very kid friendly !
Stopped in to get a book on my way through town, and Stephen provided a ton of great recommendations and I left with a new book and a smile on my face :)
This store is so cool came here a couple of times and was really impressed with the selection.
Books for all! Fabulous independent bookshop with extensive, well-selected collection of fiction, non-fiction, gifts, cards, etc. Used as well as $1 books also available out front. Books on the Square is a community treasure!
A visit to Books on the Square is always a treat. I love the recommendations from the staff, the willingness to order any book they don’t have and the great stationary. I go there for books for myself, for my daughter and gifts for friends and family. A local bookstore is SO worth supporting.
Such a cute store and they were so friendly and helpful.
You know youve got a great local bookstore when the VP shops there when shes in town.
I am a huge advocate of private bookstores. I have often bought books and gifts at B O T S. I recently bought a book as a gift. The recipient had already read the book. I had a receipt and went back in to return it for three books I found while browsing. I was told the book was “damaged “. The book was not damaged. The first few pages, at the binding did not lie flat. I explained that it was exactly how I bought the book. The salesperson was unfriendly and curt. After walking away, she came and told me she couldn’t accept a book in “this condition “. The book had literally never even been opened. This store is nice if you buy and not return. I will not be back.
Great bookstore, online ordering is a breeze and in-store selection is pretty extensive
I had an AWESOME experience ordering online from these guys. First of all, they had both of the books I was looking for and then they were incredibly communicative and responsive with some shipping questions. Really appreciate having the option to shop online and for the help I received!
Cyclist discrimination! To the owners reply, this was a joke. As a cyclist, I found the sign hilarious.
very welcoming essence to the shop with an excellent selection of books. i also LOVEDD the layout and can tell a lot of care is put into the maintenance of the shop.
This is more of an echo chamber than a bookstore. It does not represent a wide variety of ideas. Shame on them.
Great ppl , great selection, very clean n protocol friendly. Most importantly had what i was looking for at a goid price
Great bookstore. I wish they had some seats in there, I would have spent more
I love this bookstore! Small and focused, but definitely enough variety to keep you coming back frequently. Lovely staff as well!
Love this little book store. If they dont have the book I am looking for, they always offer to order it for me.
This independent bookstore in Wayland Square is one of my favorite spots. They have a very welcoming and accommodating staff who will go above and beyond in order to meet your book needs and to make you feel safe and secure during troubled times. Shop is dog friendly and they have a great selection of little gifts to make it a preferred stop for last minute gift buying.
A genuine bookstore with a helpful and friendly staff and curated selection. Love this place!
Great local bookstore! Friendly staff and they have, or will find, whatever you need. I ordered a couple books for pick up during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they have a great contactless set up. I got a personal email when my order was ready, called when I was there, and they placed my books in a bin right outside the door.
Great book and gift store. Love this place!
We need more book stores like this. Well curated and pleasant to be in.
Love this place, great selection of kids books & great customer service!
I always enjoy a quick stop in at this lovely little place. Bookstores. Places to go purchase books of all sorts. Maybe hear a writer read from their book... Remember those?...
As a writer in the Business & Economics publishing category, this store has become my new business book connection. They can order any title, even from greats such as Adam Grant, Jeff Haden and Justin Bariso. Unbelievable business section for a writer in that space. Im impressed with the relationship management prowess of Jennifer, who has earned my business time-and-again. I selected to get my annual new edition of Parachute here this year, which was a big move for someone fiercely loyal to the Harvard Book Store. Yesterday, I left with POWER. I promise I will only use it for good. (Maybe!)
Very pleasant, very homey. Love the gift wrapping. Limited books titles, weighted to hard covers.
Recently discovered this little gem for their childrens storytime which is a fun activity for younger children. Went back without my children so I could actually look around and they have a lot of interesting items.
Nice bookstore where you can find a good variety of classics and staple reading as well as new and popular releases. Prices are higher than buying online but then again youre supporting the local economy and the stores influence on the local culture. Its a great place to escape and check out some books. Just be aware they dont have much seating for reading
Fantastic bookstore in the Brown University area. I took my son there to hang out look at a few books. Not only do we get a great story book for 7 year old and it was in the form of poems. We also got a really funny Captain underpants book. he also spotted some toys and I was reluctant to go there but they had such interesting toys and many of them were very creative and intellectually challenging. we had a great time sitting around looking at books and toys. We met some friends there by chance. And theres a great spot for kids to sit and just do some coloring. Very well organized and good selection of books.
Local independent owned bookstore, great selection of childrens books and local interest programs for all.
I love this bookstore. They have a wide variety of books, and their used book options are amazing. Great that you can also find gifts, journals, notebooks, and tons of kids stuff. Always worth dropping in to see the newest stock or whats on sale. And what a bonus that they allow dogs!
Amazing staff! Great collection of books! I was looking for a childrens book to gift a friend and found a wide variety of books - classic and new to choose from!
I love this book store. It can be expensive, but I would much rather support a small business. Also, all employees are super helpful and kind. And I love everything they sell. I found some beautiful handmade earrings that I adore at this store!
For those of us still needing to feel and smell a book, books on the square is right in our wheelhouse... theyre very accommodating when it comes to finding the read that we want... Often times the owners will invite an author come visit and its great to sit, listen, meet and greet... Very relaxing atmosphere...the childrens section is loaded with all the favorites.
What a lovely bookstore in Providence! Very helpful that they can *quickly* order books. Great children’s book selection.
Great little bookstore. Selections for all ages and interests, lots of activities for adults and kids. So happy to support this independent book seller.
Absolutely love this little gem of a bookstore! They had so many good book selections and adorable gift items. I even purchased this mug and LOVE it. I would highly recommend this indie bookstore over any box store :)
Great little book store with a wide variety of books and a great staff.
Lovely bookshop--great selection of adult, YA and childrens literature. Small gift items are unique. This is my fav destination in Providence.
They have a great book selection and very friendly, helpful staff. If they dont have what you want theyll usually be able to have it for you within a few days. Also a nice selection of gift items and childrens area, book clubs and events. Highly recommended!
Great little local bookstore. Packed on a Sunday morning. Helpful with lots of good recommendations. A good place to go find something new and different to read.
I love book stores. This one is in a really good location. They have lots of new books, but there are two main issues here. There are none, or just a few, seats available for people to seat and read the books. Moreover, not only the used book section is only one shelf and one cart, but also the prices are high.I have to mention that the sellers are so nice and helpful, and I respect anyone who still has a bookstore and tries to inform people. Thanks.
Great neighborhood bookstore. Theyre all super friendly and helpful and great with a recommendation if you cant decide what to read next.
Very good independent bookstore in Providence. Decent selection titles and well stocked.
Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. History selection is well-curated. If they dont have it theyll order it. This is one of my stops every time I visit providence. Was glad they had postcards for tourists like myself. Free parking is located behind the shop. My one criticism would be for them to get a staff member who reads science fiction, it was the only section that seemed a bit lacking.
Cozy. Great selection despite small size. Staff doesnt harass you but is available for help. Interesting and eclectic merchandise. Encourages browsing with comfy couches and chairs. And, the best part?Water bowls out for our animal pals during the Summer!
