11 Vauxhall Grove, Vauxhall, London SW8 1TD, Subaykhān
Quirky spot in community gardens for vegetarian/vegan lunches and candlelit dinners with set menu.
Very Nice Food Both Vegan And Vegetarian And I Like The Food There And Very Tasty Not Forgetting The Dersert Too Yum Yum 😋 :-)
Very cosy spot 5 minutes walk from Vauxhall underground. Good food choices all vegan or vegetarian! Price is fair considering the good quality of the food. Gonna go back.
Ah man, I so so wanted to write a good review about this place. But it was just plain terrible:( It was absolutely packed with no social distancing considered. They had put tables on top of each other. It was utterly boiling and stuffy beyond belief. We asked for gluten free options but one dish arrived with a non gluten option. The food was taken back to the kitchen and the chef apologised but then the server bought back the same food! It was chaos. The presentation was non existent and the portion sizes were completely inconsistent. The table next to us were being served double what we got!! The food was cold in parts and was mediocre to say the least. So disappointing. We decided to order one of each main as we thought it was a bargain at £6 per dish. When we asked for the bill, we were told the dishes were actually £9! She walked over and rubbed the £6 prices off the board and put it as £9!! We were in disbelief! I looked at her and said no way! Thats not right! She agreed for us to pay the £6 per dish. Chaotic, bad vibes in there. Such a shame, as a vegan, I want to support vegan cafes and chefs but this was simply a shambles...I hope for their sake it gets better! Im so confused by the good reviews! Maybe we had a dud night...
What a lovely place. Misiek was the chef today and prepared such a tasty and satisfying vegan quesadilla with jackfruit chili salsa, grilled potatoes and salads. You made my day, thank you!
Popped by for a late lunch & very glad we did. Delicious food (no salmon en croute & aubergine chermoulacooked & served by Suzana was exactly what we needed. Enjoyed the Bakewell tart as soon as we arrived home! Been too long since I was last here. Always great value, lovingly prepared meals
Amazing healthy food, nice atmosphere and good price. I need to come back!
Comfy, laid back, a pleasant ambience, inside and out. The food was delicious, the service relaxed, a fitting end to a long canal walk.Oh and great value.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good prices. Cauliflower tikka masala was quite good, but a bit spicy for my taste. It’s probably a moderate spice level, so beware if you don’t handle that too well.
Very local and comfort food:) Vegan- friendly and good decoration
Beautiful little cafe run by a lovely couple! Perfect for a all vegan meal, a coffee or tea.
Just such a special placeStill going strongLove itGood vibes 💚🧡
Excellent value for money, friendly staff, whats not to like...... Other than meat
What an amazing find. Beautiful location, beautiful food and wonderfull staff. You might not think youre into vegan food but honestly, give this place a try. The menu isnt big but the quality is and the prices very very reasonable. A great atmosphere and you can bring your own wine with no corkage fee. Highly recommended.
Super delicious food. Friendly local vibe. Very reasonable prices.
Had one of the most delicious vegan meals this past weekend. The mushroom potato bake was superb as well as the chocolate cake! The atmosphere is lovely and the food is so affordable. Will be back!
Lovely food all Vegan though its so tasty you wouldnt know it ! Small and cosy so a bit noisy. Different chefs each day. We had Suzanna - really smashing, couldnt fault it. Wouldve given 5 if was less noisy as its hard to hear your companions.
Beautiful, calm environment. Delicious, flavoursome vegan food. Reasonably priced. Lovely staff. Fast service. It’s cash only and there’s no till so I got confused when I first walked in, but that adds to the nice feel, once you know.
Ate here last night on Vegan night. Always a treat popping into this lovely neighbourhood cafe. Warm and charming space. Best to email chef off of their website to secure a booking as they have seating times and limited tables.
This is an amazing place. The menu changes daily and depending on the chef. The food was delicious. I very much liked it and will be going back.
I like the concept and the staff are lovely but the food was quite basic and not particularly tasty. If I go out for food I expect a well put together dish, not just some random stuff. For example, I had beans + roast potatoes & squash +fresh carrot + tomatoes. Very basic ingredients and didnt seem like a nice complete dish, more like random leftovers thrown together.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is thoughtfully prepared and its seriously delicious (and Im not even vegan)! The staff are lovely and friendly, we came as a party of 13 and there were very accomodating!Highly highly recommend this place, whether youre vegan or not.
Really delicious home-style vegan cooking. We had a roast and banoffee pie and both were just wonderful. Good atmosphere just dont forget cash!
Really nice atmosphere and BYOB. Staff are friendly and service is quick. The only thing letting the place down is the relatively mediocre food.
Great little place for a week end brunch . Cosy. Minimalist and good vegan food
Excellent food for the money. Today was a vegan day and although This was my first vegan experience, it was thoroughly tasty. Plus great value for London. My dish was Red Dragon pie which was basically like a red vegetarian Shepard’s pie with sweet potato, beetroot, nuts and some other healthy stuff that I have no idea about!
It has a lovely atmosphere. However I am not a fan of vegan food. Its again like walking to an old aunt for lunch, the house is old and charming. Food wise- I have to be honest, I feel sorry for vegans if this is what they limited to eating, remaining unconvinced. The area is lovely toMake sure you cross the road and try that Italian place on the corner. Makes mean coffes. Cute little square. Would recommend that, not Bonnington cafe, unless youre vegan.
Love this place. Drag all my friends there when they come to visit. Great concept. Cosy. Cute. Basic but homely. And wonderful as you can bring your own bottle of delicious wine/champagne or beer with you.
I’ve been twice: a week ago and ten years ago. It’s been consistently great. If you want a drink, bring your own bottle. There’s no corkage fee. Most recently, I went there on a Friday night, and the cook was very good (there is a different chef each night). It is worth booking as people were turned away that evening.
My first meal in London was at this cozy cafe. It was a vegan Monday so everything on the menu is vegan, yet they did not compromise the taste at all. Enjoy the soup a lot. The vegan quiche is another highlight. I could never thought of using tofu to replace egg in a quiche and can hardly tell the difference. Friendly people. Love it <3
I really like that different chefs work here throughout the week. Ensures a great variety of food.
Brilliant variety of food, very different dining experience. The staff were helpful and friendly, and were happy to guide us through the menu. The restaurant space isn’t huge so with lots of people if was noisy and felt a little cramped, but lovely was still worth it for the experience.
What a great place: select but fantastic menus unique to each chef. Lovely service, terrific place. Hard to better
Love the food, the place and the concept of the restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious and never boring. The interior is relaxing and cosy. The concept centers around the community. Would definitely come back.
This quaint neighbourhood café and community hub on a quiet residential street in Vauxhall, has an interesting cooperative evening dining concept, with different cooks on different nights. Our evening was (almost?wholly vegan; the mains and desserts were a highlight and were so tasty. This BYOB with its fresh and innovative food is exceptionally good value. Highly recommended.
A little gem of a place, with a small, utterly delicious menu and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We sat out back and enjoyed the sunshine, two soups and a jackfruit burger. All delicious and incredibly good value. The beetroot gazpacho was a particular highlight, packed full of dill and garlic. Best London lunch in a long time!
Ive been wanting to go to the Bonnington café for so long now, but hadnt until last night. I have to say it lived up to if not surpassed everything I heard about it. Its casual and laid back so you feel like youre not in London. Itd situated on a back street nestled in a residential road that has a lovely atmosphere. The menu and chef changes everyday and booking seems to be essential (usually its busyso we texted as the website suggested. Now... The food. We both ordered the tofu dish (sesame tofu and teriyaki auberginewhich was incredible but wished wed ordered one of each dish as we saw the squash roast and it looked delicious! For dessert we had one of each (learnt our lessonand oh boy... 😍 just everything about this place... Oh and its BYOB.
I dont got to many places twice but this is becoming a regular. Such a cosy atmosphere and love being able to bring our own wine to dinner. Weve only been so far as a couple, but there are mostly groups of friends there. The food is always delicious and I always find something we havent had before. Texting to book makes it feel a bit special and the chef replied when I asked her what one of the sides was because it was so yummy! Will be back again soon.
Very decent place, great atmosphere, homely rustic decor. The menu is pre set, but the food is amazing regardless. Very accessible prices given that the food is AWESOME. Even as a meat eater I was taken aback by how delicious plant based food can be. Even though I live miles away from London I would gladly jump on a train just to come back here again.
Been there four or five times with different chefs - always been very tasty. Book by text, dont just turn up as its always busy. Im not vegan or vegetarian, but have never been disappointed by a meal here. Good value- three courses for two - £32. Its byob with a 50p charge.
Delicious, fresh and healthy vegan meal, with gluten free options available. My wife and I had our last meal of our European holiday here, and we could not have had a more delicious final dinner than here. The place was cosy, the staff was friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The ambiance and atmosphere of the cafe and the surrounding area really makes for a special time here. We went on a Sunday evening with chef Anya in the house. The food was absolutely amazing - this coming from newbies to the whole raw/vegan diet and experience. Chef and her assistant were really friendly and very kind - I left my bag in the restaurant because I was so taken by the raw chocolate and peanut brownie - they called me and waited for me to collect it.If you are looking for a place with character and feel good vibes this is the place. Real soul food here!!!Thank you Anya for a wonderful meal :we will be back soon!
Quirky vegan/vegetarian cafe in a magical residential area. Menu consisted of one starter, two mains to choose and two desserts to choose - a refreshing change to the usual menu overload. The food was good and cheap for London standards. The decor is positively odd. The cafe seems popular, at least on Sunday afternoon.
Have been here on several occasions, as my girlfriend lives around the corner. Fantastic community-led cafe off Bonnington Square with a changing roster of local chefs. Weve eaten the food of various chefs and it has been consistently excellent, with great vegan and vegetarian choices too. Particularly for how reasonable the price is! You can bring your own drinks for a small corking fee. If youre a small group you may end up sharing a table with others, so it helps if youre sociable and friendly, but often this adds to the charm of the experience! Theres a fascinating history to the surrounding area too and the nearby community gardens are great!
Lovely food in homely setting. Choice of two starters, mains and desserts on a rotating chef basis. Good price and great food. Probably worth booking in advance - we turned up impromptu and got the last two seats.
I really loved the food. I had tofu steaks and they were a great example of a veganised pub classic.I advise reserving; I managed to slip in, but almost all the tables were booked for either 6:30 or 8:30, or both. You can book parties in here, of up to about 8 people, Id say (Im not sure any more tables will fit side by side in the small room). Its a cute place, with a deli selling alcohol across the road (and fresh veg, interestingly, plus all manner of other odd bits), and a community garden space with swings nearby. The centre itself does a number of events for cheap from yoga to piano lessons. Its a great little corner of town. The cafe has leaflets for all manner of intriguing London events you might not otherwise have heard of. Makes for interesting reading. This cafe is attached to a community centre, so there are certain differences to a regular establishment:-The menu changes day by day. To know whats on offer, you have to go to the website, find the contact details of the chef on rota for the night, and ask them. Or, show up and take your chances. I did and Im not disappointed.-They are short staffed. Only one waiter, rushed off her feet. The food came quickly but it took a while to settle up. To be honest, if Id had exact change, I would have just put it on the table and left, since I had another engagement I was late for. Best to go when youre not doing anything else, then you can just relax and it doesnt matter.-Theres no bill or receipt. They dont take cards. A main is about £8. Id advise exact change or just enough that the remainder is an acceptable surplus.-The toilet is up three flights of stairs, past what looks like someones abandoned living room.-Theres a definite community atmosphere, some of the people there were clearly either regulars or friends.
Ordinary vegetarian restaurant. Portions are good size, tasty. Been here several times already and never went out disappointed. A bit dark.Oh , and there is no booze in here so you need to bring your own bottle (staff will open the bottle for you)Reservations are required!CASH ONLY not ideal place to flash your black Amex around. And yes - seen here people from absolutely all economic backgrounds.
a wonderful vegetarian cafe that changes its chef daily. you can go online to see who will be cooking and text the chef to make a reservation. the food was absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced. we had fresh watermelon juices, curries, and veggie bowls. the decor is homely and outside seating out the back. would definitely go again.
I had dinner here with three meat-eating friends and we were all blown away by it. It’s run by a collective and you book by texting whoever is cooking that night. It’s low key, very friendly, nice atmosphere and the food is fantastic. There is a limited menu on a chalk board - the night we were there it was a choice of two starters, two mains and two desserts - one each of veggie and vegan. You can bring your own wine, and the restaurant provides glasses and a corkscrew. It’s pretty cheap too - around £8 for mains. I will definitely be back.
Absolutely fantastic. A gorgeous vintage atmosphere night or day, fabulous vegan and vegetarian food and amazing prices- not to mention bring your own bottle! Perfect for lunches and dinners, just call your cook for the day (listed on the websiteand book your table. So so yummy, even my meat eating boyfriend loved it, and he is picky! Will be going back regularly :)
Went for a birthday meal and it was fantastic. As a family of vegetarians we appreciate good healthy vegetarian food. The atmosphere was perfect, casual and relaxed despite being fully booked. We usually celebrate birthdays at The Gate or Manna, amazing food but rather expensive. Bonnington is very reasonably priced and the food has a more home cooked feel than restaurant but definitely just as good. Will certainly be going again.
