Divine place the one word comes out of the mouth is this the Divine place lot of monks live here they practice meditation Pooja and daily routine work but u will find no noise very quite place everything is well managed lot of space arround the Monestery u can sit and feel the Divine powers arround infrastructure is excellent and their waste management system is also appreciate able very nice people and they make u understand each and everything in a very polite manner the atomosphere out side the monestery is also very quite and Divine must visit place go and experience of ur own

Its 15 mins walk from mirik lake. Its a up hill walk. The cab charges ₹150-200. Its very huge and beautiful. Its very peaceful and full of bright colours. You can also see it from the Mirik Lake. If you love to click pictures you can easily spend 30-45 mins here. So plan accordingly.PS- Dont forget to meet cute monestry cat.

Monastery was huge and I got a Bokar rinpochi and Khempo rempochi blessing and I m really happy to meet next time

This is a serene place and mist in October made us feel more the peace calm people around the deep silence when u close your eyes the scent we loved it.

Nice place above the mountain. Try to reach there before 7 o clock in the morning, then you can enjoy the morning prayer. Enjoy the clam silent atmosphere around the monastery

We got to know that Bokar Monastery is situated at the highest point in Darjeeling district. It was a brief hike to the monastery and it was lovely to interact with the monks and learn about their culture and tradition.

The monastery was close-by from where I stayed and it was such a beautiful experience. It was foggy and cloudy when I visited and people in the monastery were so much welcoming and pleasant. The kids were so cute, a person painting the walls, the surrounding and the area was well maintained. It radiation peace and serenity.

A must place to see in Mirik, but, most people does not know, or skip, as local drivers do not want to spent another 30 minutes, good view of Mirik lake

Its a very nice place... but dont use google maps to visit the place..#GoogleMaps is horrible.. there are plenty of shortcuts which will take you to the place in much lesser time.

Bokar monastery is in mirik,just behind the court. Since our visit was just prior to Buddha purnima,we were lucky to observe the chanting of the monks. The painting outside the monastery was done by the monks themselves and it was worth watching. The idol of buddha in the monastery is very tall with serenity engraved on his face. A must visit if you go to mirik. Thank you.

Beautiful Monestary with peace and happiness

The most beautiful monastery in the Mirik as well as Darjeeling Himalayan area. The Buddhist population are coming hear every day for prayer. Though all religions are also visit the monastery. The monastery has two sections. Big one is for prayer and other one is the monk hostel. The prayer hall is nice place. Decorated with paintings and other Buddhist culture pictures. Outside of the building is also decorated. A mast visiting place in the Mirik.

Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery is one of the prominent Buddhist centers in the Mirik. The monastery is home to around 500 monks who participate in practicing and sustaining the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. It also serves as a school teaching the principles of Buddhism. The monastery has a monastic college named Shedra. The monastery was founded by kyabje Bokar Rinpoche in 1984. The original intent was to create a small retreat centre, but at the requests of disciples and lay people Rinpoche began to accept monks for training. Over time the small retreat centre evolved to become the current monastery with two retreat center nearby and monastic college, a shedra.Since the passing of Ven Bokar Rinpoche in 2004 the monastery and its other facilities have been under the direction of his close disciple , Kyabje Bokar Khenchan Donyo Rinpoche. Surprisingly, the extraordinary Indian Mahasiddha Maitripa was said to have spent time meditating here. Marpa, the most distinguished Tibetan translator and possessor of the Mahamudra Heritage, received some of his utmost conveyance from Maitripa. Situated at an elevation of about 5800ft from the sea level, the Bokar Monastery is the highest point and is one of the most important pivots of Buddhism in Mirik. Bokar Rinpoche was one of the most superior instructors of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa in banishment. Within this period of time, he trained him so much of the prized verbal customs, sutras and tantras. The monastery is a dwelling place for about 500 monks who are involved in the practice and preaching of Buddhist philosophy and Dharma rituals.The Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery is positioned on the top of a hill in Mirik valley. The magnificence and grandeur of the monastery is such that it is visible from the neighbouring hills. The divineness of the monastery with addition to the natural surroundings of the place is truly a sight to contemplate. Bounded by the greenery of the forests, the monastery stands firm, thereby declaring its resplendence. The monastery is red in colour. Henceforth, one can imagine the majesty of the place.A visit to the Mirik Valley without a visit to the Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery would be imperfect. So, do visit the place and explore the opulence of the monastery.

You will get a spectacular view of Himalayas from there , do take some localite with you and a stick as there are many stray dogs.

It was a great time there at Bokar Monastery, Mirik, West Bengal. I visited on a rainy day. I witnessed how Lamas were chanting to the Lord Buddha. I have also experienced that how Lamas were being served food at the time of chanting.

Thupten Lama lovingly called Guruji here is a senior monk of the monastery .. the tranquility of this place will certainly make you feel closer to God!!
