Hidden behind a boiler showroom, this secret cocktail bar has a funky, contemporary vibe.
I loved this place. I only popped in for an hour prior to going elsewhere for a work do, and I wished I could have stayed here all evening! Lovely place, interesting bar.
This place isnt what it used to be. The cocktails arent special like they once were. Theyve lost their USP which was the shop front and the mystery behind it. It seems bizarre that theyve had a refurb but havent revised the name. The name does not reflect The Boilermaker anymore. I cant imagine this bar is going to last much longer, theres far too much competition in Nottingham City for this place to have any chance of surviving that.
Nice cocktails and excellent staff
Not been for a while.Used to be a bit of an adventure to get in here but thats all changed.Still do great cocktails and glad they finally upgraded the toilets.
Great cocktails, lovely venue
Lovely staff. Really nice atmosphere.
Staff were tentative and generally really nice but the cocktails let it down. There wasnt really anything special about them and felt a bit watered down to be honest.I loved it before the refurb a couple of years ago but probably wont be coming back now.
Great experience, friendly staff and the skylights give it a very nice feel inside. Cocktails were great and I got a kick out of reading the weird descriptions in the menu. My one, very small, gripe is that its not entirely clear that the place is open (we walked right past it at firstbecause it looks like a closed cafe from the outside unless you look a little closer. I suppose a "bar at the back" sign is a little gauche but it would be helpful.
You can have cocktails, then you can have the real thing. Absolutely fantastic, know what they are talking about and nail it every time.
Great cocktails, shame the cupboard has gone to go through to the main bar was looking forward to that.
I first visited in 2018/2019, and what an experience! The mystery of walking into what looked like a dodgy Boiler shop and asking for a table to then walk through a toilet mirror and be in a bar was fun and fantastic—we were collected on the other side and shown to our table. The drinks were presented in the wackiest ways and were reasonably priced.Fast forward to my visit a few months ago, where I invited a few friends to go there in hopes of having the same experience I did, hyping it up every step of the way. What a change. The shop at the front had changed, and when we went, it was completely open, so the mystery was lost immediately. Ordering drinks took far too long, and when they arrived, they were boringly poured into glasses and cost the Earth. We had one and left. Not only was it disappointing, but the fun and USP has been wholly lost.
Was shown a table straight away (without a reservation and on a Saturday nightwith a friendly greeting from the staff. Service was really good and the bar staff were more than happy to amend cocktails to taste and even made off-menu drinks on request. Great tasting cocktails and nice relaxed atmosphere with table service for everyone.
Not a boilermaker anymore which was a bit disappointing. Didn’t enjoy my cocktail but my partner did. Putting water on each table was a good idea though.
I like the vibe. drink was nice and staff was kind :)
Awesome place to have a.drink, a bite and unwind.staff are super friendly and helpful.
The guys know their job!!! Excellent hospitality, amazing cocktails, great venue and music! What else can a person ask for?
Very tasty drinks! You get bang for your buck :)
Naughty little speakeasy trick entrance opens up into a spacey place high on atmosphere and low on formal expectation.Went for the cocktails (naturallyand was not disappointed. Very well crafted and a couple carried some theatre (Rum QMCwith a wicked sense of humour. Not to be perceived as gimmicky, I had the drink "Jewels from accounting" which blended some smart and daring flavours into a cohesive and interesting beverage. Will definitely be back.
Had a really nice cocktail here (which I cant remember the name ofonly reason why Im not giving this a 5 is it was very loud, difficult to socialise with my friends. However, I understand this is difficult to prevent when its super busy.
The idea is great! But the atmosphere next to the bar is a little grim and drinks are so so, also weird decorations/serving on drinks. (see photos)
Fantastic gem of a cocktail bar. Staff really attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Prices reasonable. COVID compliance very good. I dont live anywhere near but I still make the effort to visit when in the area.
We cant recommended this place enough for excellent quality cocktails, with fun and quirky gimmicks. Its a pun-lovers dream! Friendly service, and all-table seating. Perfect way to celebrate the end of Lockdown. 👍
This place is so great, it’s pretty “secret” and has a really great atmosphere. We waited a little longer than expected for our second round of drinks, and after asking if they would be coming soon the lovely manager apologised for the wait, comped our entire table and gave us two free shots of tequila. Such a fab bar, can’t wait to go back!
Totally fun entrance, after that not much excitement. All table service, but busy nights mean youll wait quite a while to be served. Stick to the classic cocktails too. Its fun to look through the witty and entertaining menu, but the resultant flavours were not at all entertaining. The staff know what theyre doing, and there was nothing objectionable about the place, in fact it was pretty cool inside, but the classics are classics for a reason.
Brilliant entrance. The drinks here are packed with alcohol and taste beautiful. The drink in the picture is rhubarb Pauls Drag Race. The foam tastes delicious! A must try
Been coming here for years. Great hideaway place for cocktails, all seated. We love it here. Cocktails are great but around £8 each so make sure you’ve got plenty money before you enter.
A little pricey, but a brilliant experience, with some unusual cocktails
Great bar, a bit of a pain to find but well worth it. Table service, great range of cocktails, friendly staff and overall great experience. To top it off the menu is entertaining too.
Amazing ‘speakeasy’ bar in Nottingham. Great fun to take someone who hasn’t been before to see their face upon entry. Great selection of amusing cocktails and other drinks. Atmosphere inside very relaxing and comfortable.
Was told about this place 6 years ago and only recently found myself in Nottingham and able to go.After waiting in a cubicle sized room with 20 other adults for 25 minutes I was ready to be swept away by the secret and quirky bar I had heard so many great stories about.. Unfortunately I was met with a standard bar, with below average tasting cocktails in average glasses and no dancefloor. You would have a better time in the Alchemist or Coco Tang
Fair cocktails for fair price. Nice security security agents also !
This contemporary chic speakeasy is remarkable, hidden behind the unexpected fascia of a boiler repair shop. The table service was an unexpected element and the cocktail menu doesnt take itself too seriously with bundles of humour thrown through the drink titles and descriptions. The drinks are ingenious, creative and full of amazing flavours. Big up for vegan catering and allergen information in your menus too. It was out first visit and we will definitely be back.
A fantastic little speakeasy, and remarkably easy to miss. The surprise of stepping through for the first time, when you dont know this is here, is remarkable. The drinks selection is unlike anything Ive seen before, and each one forces you to think. Some interesting flavour combinations, many of which work very very well, yet sound like they shouldnt. Well worth a visit. Though the drinks are strong, so dont try too many in one sitting and expect to get away with it :P
First thing to love about this bar is the atmosphere, from the hidden doorway which swings out to reveal a giant room to the bar itself. Everything has character and a really nice vibe to it making a great place to drink. Next, the menu is large, tasty, and funny. Theres a variation of every drink you could want and the bartenders were very happy to make off menu classics as well. Finally, its not that crowded and the staff were extremely nice! Would highly reccomend, an amazing experience all around.
Very cleverly hidden, finding it is an adventure in itself. Love the interior look, quickly seated and served by the floor staff. Such a creative variety of cocktails, which taste as good as they look! Drinks were well made, place was well decorated, bar was well staffed. Definitely recommended, cant wait to see what they come up with next.
Actually amazing - such a funny experience going through a boiler shop to a bar!! Beautiful place and good music! Cant wait to go back 🥂
Table service was a nice touch! The waitress we had (didnt catch her name but brown hair and pony tailwas very informative with the drinks we ordered. A Monday night was quiet but enjoyable as we got a good conversation in. The gentleman who got our bill was also AMAZING. Due to the fact we had SUCH a great time we lost track of time and my train was due, asked for the bill pretty quick and they provided fast with no issue, even gave me the fastest route the train station! Very thankful for that :brilliant time. Just wish I got the names of everyone who served us so I could thank them personally.
Tried this place more than once now, the cocktails are really over priced and 7 of us wanted a large table together and were told on a quiet Monday evening that we would have to move if a bigger party came in first come first served usually works better if not a requirement to book? Think the place has alot of potential and is a quirky idea but seems to have gone downhill
When you first go in your not sure what to expect but when your inside, the atmosphere and staff are great! Will definitely be returning when Im next in Nottingham
Really do enjoy this hidden gem not a place to spend all day at but certainly for the theatre a nice hidden secret bar with way out there cocktails
I have been intending to go here for about two years and after hearing about it then it exceeded all expectations! From the moment you walk in it feels like a special place, the secret entrance concept is awesome fun, although probably not if your stuck outside on a Saturday night! The drinks here are absolutely fantastic, so creative and really well done. The place is low lit and makes it seem very cosy and personal.Staff were great, very helpful when choosing drinks.Well worth a visit and I will deffinately go again.
Amazing cocktails and lovely staff will be going again next time we are in town
Characterful cocktail bar hidden behind a boiler shop facade, with friendly staff and some very imaginative cocktails
Loved it here. The whole concept is super cool and fun and the staff were awesome. She took real time to sit and chat with us about special whiskeys that they stock. Cocktails were great, really enjoyed it here, highly recommend!
Fun place great range of cocktails and happy to mix up something new if you ask nicely.
Great cocktails, fun to drink. The music selection was perfect and not so loud we couldnt have a nice chat.
service was a touch slower than I would have liked but thats because I tend to drink quite fast. I loved the range of cocktails they had here and is well worth the queue, if you want to experiance something new or quirky. Each cocktail has a unique name too, such as "Hard core corn" or "Nuka Libre Quantum".
The staff were amazing! The drinks were fantastic. The bartender asked me what I liked and then just made me this sparkling spectacular fruity drink. Other nearby bars charge just as much for a cocktail but nothing can compare... cant wait for the new menu! Should try the grasshopper.
Wow.... Just wow! I love my cocktails and this place has just become my go to venue. Ill even take a deliberate trip for 2 hours just to come to this place. A definite visit if you like cocktails and a must if youve never had a good cocktail. The staff are great and the guys behind the bar really know their stuff. If you have trouble deciding just give them an idea if what you like and they will almost certainly make you something that will blow you away. There is no where like this place. Go go go!!!
What a fantastic place! So different to anywhere I have ever been. Very quirky, great chilled out atmosphere and fantastically unusual cocktails. My first came in an envelope, my second with a mini pancake, and my third most certainly lived up to the description on the menu, which simply said: "served confusingly"! Anyone passing through Nottingham simply must give this place a try.
