Bob Marley Museum in Kingston
Description
This is a must stop for anyone who visits Jamaica. The tour is amazing and super informative. Awesome to walk through the house and get a feel for Bob Marleys life. All the memorabilia is also really well presented!!
Morebrilliant tour it is a must for people visiting the islandBob Marley is a legend icon and prophetfelt honoured to retrace his steps and saw where the magic happened
MoreVery good small museum and tour if you love Bob Marley. Saw the son of the prince of Ethiopia there while he was on a special visit. You. An see the recording studio his bedroom and more but no I side pictures are allowed.
MoreIt’s a must see once in Jamaica. Good vibe on site. A lot to see. The tour is a bit in a rush which is a pity since it leaves too less time to look around. Great people.
MoreYou get to be inside on Marleys house where he recorded his last few albums. Unfortunately, no pics or recording is allowed while on the tour which is fine with me. I want to enjoy the experience without being distracted. You get to see how he lived and how much of an impact his music and message was. Our tour guide, 5 Star Celestial, was super funny, knowledgeable and engaging. Loved every second of it.
MoreLovely comedic and knowledge hosts. Affordable prices in addition to lovely philodendron plants, and koi fish pond. I enjoyed the theatre; and visiting Bob Marley’s home (sacred space). Learning about his legacy through music, his humanitarian efforts to share the messages in his timeless reggae rhythmic euphoria…of unity, peace, and liberation truly filled my heart with joy. His influence can be seen in my artwork and personal style, as well as my crown. Give thanks for the education we received.
MoreMy first time and it was a great experience
At time of visit, location was quiet with a small tour being conducted. Staff personnel were courteous, well-mannered and helpful...
MoreSharon and dish is a good day at work bbq sauce is either heirs to see you in my mind if they were the first half and The same way as the first half and The same way as
MoreThe museum is awesome! You are not allowed to take pictures inside the museum but it is still worth every penny. There is a gift shop and video at the end of the tour, and food to pur has at the beginning to help if you have to wait.
More2nd time visiting, the audio in the theatre didnt work. That being said, I think the guide couldve gotten visitors a bottle of water...thats the least because our tour was cut by 20 minutes.
MoreI learned so much about Bob Marley & the life he lived. This is a must see great 2 hour experience. However you can not take pictures inside. So the only luck you will have is taking a picture with the statue outside the home.
MoreIt was worth the visit... great way to experience part of the late singers history. The tour guide was polite, funny and very knowledgeable.
MoreTruly informative and entertaining. Our guide was Siri’s/Susan, fulla vibes!!! The time ran off so quickly, well worth regardless of age or class.
MoreGreat experience and a must go if your in Kingston. Our guide was great extremely informative and keep us engaged.
MoreGreat staff, excellent tour guides. You will learn all about Bob Marley from a tender age up until his death.
MoreLots of history. Not just about Bob Marley but about Jamaican history. Our tour guide irie Sue was also amazing!! She knows her stuff!
More“Irie Sue” Maxwell made our experience totally amazing. #wow #yeah-man… Girl you a di boss and vibes machine. Big up yourself. Was good to be home was great being a part of the tour…#reggaeroots and culture.
MoreExcellent tour and learned a lot. A lot more than was expected
It was a very well put together display of Bob Marleys life. Being in his house and experiencing his history gave you an actual remarkable feeling of being in touch with Bob Marley his music and his life. The gentleman that gave the tour was amazing. I would say it is the first museum I have experienced that gave me a deep spiritual feeling of its meaning and music. Lets get together and it will be alright...ONE LOVE💝
MoreThis was a very insightful facility to be in but there are some things that made it disappointing.TLDR: lots of interesting history inside, but no photos allowed in the building. The things I liked are seeing some Iconic things like the Jean Jacket Bob wore on stage and his many platinum records.Learning more details about his family history and climb to fame was also very insightful. The grounds were full of memorabilia and are worth checking out. The fact that the building itself is a piece of history makes it even more special. But there are drawbacks.Upon entry, there is a local rate and a foreigner rate. This isnt something I am used to. Locals get a much more desirable rate than foreigners. I suppose there is an argument that can be made that locals should not have to pay the same to experience their own culture etc. However, the implementation should be different. You could literally be paying a different price form the person right next to you. It just seems wrong. The museum should consider having locals be able to get their tickets ahead of time and at least have the tickets look the same at the door. This bit really bothers me. It will make sense if you go there and see it.Next, and this is my biggest issue with the museum is the staff are adamant that absolutely no pictures are taken inside. People pay to go to a museum to see things, experience things and take photos. It truly feels like a bait and switch experience. had i known this ahead of time, I would not have gone. It is possible that not allowing the photos inside the building is doing more harm than good to the museum financially. They do allow photos of the exterior of the building though. For the no photo rule, I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I would not go again. If you dont mind experiencing it only once without photo evidence after, then by all means, check this place out.One star removed for pricing structure; one star removed for photo rule
MoreThe history behind Bob Marley and his family is captured in this museum that was once his original home. Our tour guide did a phenomenal job! Contact Chukka Tours to setup your visit.
MoreThe best experience Ive ever had absolutely brilliant. No documentary can top this unless you are there in his house you will never really feel the true experience. Our tour guide was amazing. I would definitely recommend this tour.
MoreIf your a reggae fan its a must do if your in Kingston Jamaica.
Tour was good and really informative, however for the price the tour groups should be much smaller. What spoilt it and made me not give 5 stars is at the end of the tour the tour guide sat outside the gift shop exit and heckled people very aggressively for tips, shouting abuse at those who didnt tip. Very ironic after literally just watching a film clip of Bob Marley saying his riches are life & living not money and possessions...
MoreAbsolutely worth the trip to from Montego Bay to this museum. We rented a car from the airport for a day to make the drive out here which took about 2.5 hrs each way. $20 toll each way too, so FYI. But it was magical being there and learned so much about the legend Bob Marley. Plus, our tour guide was very comical, knowledgeable, and a great story teller. He even sang some tunes and had everyone participate throughout the tour as well. Again, you wont regret this museum if you are a true music fan, Marley fan, and appreciate finding the beauty in all the small things in life that inspire iconic musical legends.
MoreOh my goodness!!! This was a great experience. Our guide Irie Sue was tremendous. Her knowledge and enthusiasm about Bob Marley brought the experience to another level. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Kingston Jamaica.
MoreIt was very nice visiting. Learned alot about Jamaica and bob Marley. Its definitely worth the trip.
MoreThis is Bobs former residence.Alright so let me begin with the fact that I didnt go inside 🙃. I was not accepting the fact that cell phone use inside was prohibited (not even a little picture to say Im inside?LOL.Regardless I thoroughly enjoyed myself on the outside of the buildings and basked in the cool breeze and irie vibes on the compound.Took some beautiful pictures with the bust of Bob as well as by the many murals on the walls. This is definitely worth a visit when in Kingston. Please, dont be like me; go inside.
MoreStefan the guide has a great vibe. Respect. Everything went smooth and musical.
Fascinating insight into Bobs life and family. Our guide sang and danced his way through the exhibition. Incredible to visit the studio where so much happened and so many legends recorded. One love!
MoreGreat tour. Very informative on the history of Bob Marley. The museum is the old house he lived in and the very spot of the attempted murder on him. Gift shop has lots of memories. Reservations only so there is re a lly no wait time. Buy your tickets then u can feel free to leave and enjoy another part of the city.
MoreGood experience although you do have to walk up stairs. I didnt see wheel chair accessibility. Nice movie at the end. Photos are not allowed in the museum. You may only take photos outside in the baack courtyard. There are murals you can stand in front of to shoot photos. Also, the tours are scheduled. You can buy at the window but you have to wait for the next tour.
MoreAbsolutely fantastic, if you love the late great Bob Marley (as my husband and I dothen you can’t visit Jamaica and not visit this place, it is the most wonderful experience, you feel so close and connected to the greatest legend that ever lived, there’s so much to see and the guides are brilliant, they really make your day so special. It’s a must see and you won’t be disappointed……
MoreReally learned alot about the great reggae singer, was kind of sad. Died so young and gave so much. He will never be forgotten 🙏😔ONE LOVE, ONE HEART
MoreA moving experience to go through the history of Bob Marley and his family. Tour guide brought us into the full experience and was full of energy. Evoked my love for Bob Marleys music.
MoreI absolutely loved the Bob Marley Museum learned so much about him its sad that he died hes an icon he should be alive his music lives on. Tour guide was really good, very informative. We got to see his recording studio, inside his house where he lived where he slept were he had an attempt on his life. Where he wrote his music in his backyard. Very informative and at the end we got to see a movie that sums up his family and his life. I loved it everyone should go to the Bob Marley Museum
MoreVery informative guides. There are so many items that are original to Bob Marleys house, its a pretty amazing feeling knowing that youre walking in the home and studio of the Legend. The guided tours are hourly, so plan accordingly. If you are a Bob Marley fan and ever in Kingston, Jamaica I would highly recommend that you add this to your list of stops.
MoreAmazing experience… I can’t remember the name of my tour guide but he was phenomenal. I throughly enjoyed being immersed in the history. And huge shout to one love cafe their mellow vibes smoothie is to die for. 10/10
MoreIt was a diffrent vibe.More spiritual in nature like the big man himself. Quite enjoyable and informitive.
MoreA time capsule in kingston reminding us about the life, works and spirituality of the great Bob......well worth a visit
MoreThis was wonderful, very informative and nostalgic tour. Learnt a lot from our tour guide. Note you are not allowed to take pictures or videos on the inside of the house. I would recommend doing this tour on your visit and if you need a guide call me up.The Bob Marley Museum tour cost US$25.
MoreSo the Museum states they do not have a webpage, although I found a pretty official looking one that said the fees were $25. It is $30 at the door. All kinds of BS. I expect they were taking it off the top for “rewarding” our hired driver for taking us there. We did not like our shady driver, do NOT fall for visit to the marijuana farm for $10 a person. It is not part of this tour!! We felt disrespected!! They have weed (and teaat the museum. We visited with a group of family and friends and enjoyed the experience immensely. Learned more about THE Bob Marley from the locals, heard the meanings behind many of his songs and toured his beginnings … it was not only a learning moment, but a spiritual adventure. There are steps and a hill climb for those who have mobility issues. There are multiple tourist “traps” during the tour that just comes with the tourist industry. Be prepared to tip and make purchases.Update- my daughter opened her shot glass and the bartender did an old switcharoo and gave people an ugly shot glass and not the ones they actually took the shot out of… shady and greatly unappreciated. I downgraded the stars due to this. Love Bob, not that.
MoreI enjoyed the amazing culture of this place. Sure I did learn a lot about Bob Marley I didnt know. I love touring this place and would do it all over again.
MoreWas a nice experience to see all the history of Bob Marley. It would have been nice if you have an option to see without a guide. The smoothie outside was super good. Wow you should try.
MoreThis place was amazing! Such an incredible insight into one of the greats of music and humanitarianism. It was peaceful and incredible! ✌🇯🇲
MoreVery knowledgeable tour guide sooo much info. Bob Marley led an extraordinary life despite it being cut short. If you make it to Kingston definitely go it’s a must see
MoreI learned interesting facts about life and career of the fameous Jamaican singer - Bob Marley. The Museum itself is located in actual house and music studio that Marley used in his last years. This place is definitely worth to see.
MoreWhat can else be said of the artist that has the greatest song of the last thousand years and album of the last 100 years. The tour gives you a succinct look at one of the greatest artists in human history by taking you through his home as well as his career. While it is a big house it is not a grand estate which would have been counter to what Bob was about as youll learn.
MoreYou MUST visite the Bob Marley Museum when you come to Kingston. Get a little bit closer to Bob Marley by entering the intimacy of his home where there is a story to tell in each room. Show case of all the great achievements and his philosophy. Good and very instructive guides. ONE LOVE
