Bluff Hill Lookout in Napier

Beautiful lookout here. We can viewed the port of Napier.

Great look out you can catch a sunrise on a good day. Walk or drive right to the top, worth a look

Gorgeous views of the Port and the marine parade area with mountains in the distance. Must visit.

Must see when in Napier, on a sunny day its lovely up there, great views!

Really enjoyed the view and watching the Harbour.At soon at 3pm came , its truned in to a park up spot for girls high school. Not so pleasant.

Great place to take time out and watch the Ships at the Wharf.

Spectacular views up top of Bluff Hill mostly looking West, East and North.Is not very far from Napier shops to top, although would be a hike by foot was quick by car.

Narrow winding road to get there but worth it. Looks out over the port and far beyond.

Nice lookout to the view of Napier harbour. And such an amazing point for relaxing.

There was a lot of stairs but the view was pretty

Good view over the northern part of the bay and the ports. Nice drive / walk up through nice neighbourhood. Some more interpretive / informative signage would have been great and you can’t actually see to the south over Napier town which I thought you could

Drove most of the way up in our motorhome " Naki Dreamz , then advised to walk the rest. After a 15min casual walk we were at the top , and it was worth it ..

Easy climb to the small cliff in Napier, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. If you happen to travel to Napier even for a short stay this is a possible walk you could plan. At the peak the view is beautiful. You could also see the Napier port very closely

Theres about 13 carparks at the top there is also a table and toilets. Such great views looking down to Perfume Point, over the port and out to seaIG📷_leon_04

Not as magical as I expected.. many other look outs that are worth visiting. A worthy experience if it’s the only look out you’re doing in Napier.. but don’t expect too much. The park/garden at the top is cute

Amazing spot to see the Hawkes Bay. Well worth the effort to get there. A must do when visiting the area.

Gorgeous spot, a definite must while visiting Napier!You can walk or drive up. Roads are well sign-posted for the lookout but are quite narrow, one section is even one-way at a time; would not recommend taking anything bigger than a mini-van up. Parking lot is also small-ish but if you wait briefly people seem to clear out regularly.Expansive lawn for a blanket picnic or a paved area with a table. There are toilets at the top. Park hours are 7am-9pm.Stunning views of Hawkes Bay and interesting aerial perspective of the port.

A very winding road to the top and a beautiful view over the port and vistas to the west.

We had a car and was able to drive up to the lookout but the roads were quite tight. there were enough signs to lead us to the lookout. It did look like you were also able to walk up from the town.The port is visible from the lookout area. there was plenty of grassy areas and a path along the side which had nice views of the area. There was also a small building area which had seats, tables and a circular sign post. The area was quite tidy and even though it was raining it was still worth the visit.It was quite a nice area for views and possibly a picnic if the weather was good.

Another excellent location for view in Napier. You can watch cargo ships docking and exiting. Road is narrow and steep. Be careful with drive and kids supervision is needed. Also parking and reversing car can be problem during busy time. They also have rest room up there.FYI

This lookout is a popular place to go for walks/runs and a great place to view the ships and cruise ships from the port down below.

Probably the best “Nature, City and Sea Viewing” place in Napier.You will get a 360 degree view of the entire city and a full view of the Napier Port.The photos were from yesterday (29.1.2020during Sunset.

Probably third in the list behind Mt. Vic Wellington and Te Mata lookouts but still it is such an amazing place which deserves 5 stars. Can see harbour closely and if lucky youll get to see big ships loading/unloading....beautiful flower garden on top which is a bonus

Indeed I was bluffed by the hill because it isnt a hill at all. Theres a whole lot of houses in the middle of the hill and even a teeny weeny waterfall. Great views though. Could see the entire Napier port from the top.

A must to do in Napier! Beautiful views from the top. Easy to reach totally worth to get here.

Itz been wonderful place to have a look about how the port looks like and how it works, moreover it has some spectacular views to offer. Best place to view some natural beauty.

Beautiful views even on a cloudy day, spent most of time watching container ship being unloaded. Quite flat at top but parts are quite hilly not good for older people or w/chairs.

We were lucky enough to visit on a bright, still, clear day. What magnificent views fro Fiordland to Stewart Island and all way around to The Catlins

Beautiful location and pictures do not do it enough justice. Just be careful on the drive up as the road is only just narrow enough to accommodate 2 cars in some places on the road but not all

Amazing views of the port and ocean.. easy 10 min drive up the hill. Ample parking. MUST SEE place in Napier

Dont miss the opportunity to look out from Bluff Hill over the docks, quite a sight to watch the huge cranes, loading and unloading their large containers. Also the old cars as they ferry tourists around in period costume.

Wonderful for solo travelers for walking.30-40 minutes walk from the downtown.There is a walkway to the lookout when it’s about 2 minutes to the lookout.Choose the tiny walkway and you would find different scenery.Good view of Napier Port and the Pacific Ocean.

Nice views out towards the ocean and back towards the mountains. Also the cargo ship dock is pretty cool.

We can easily reach upto the top by car from Napier CBD. There is also a walkway through the trees just below before heading to the top. The day we visited Bluff Hill was very nice to have a good weather. However, its better to take a jacket and be prepared for the wind and drizzle. The 360 degree views are amazing. At the top theres a viewing area and some well manicured lawns and Gardens and a beautiful view to the Napier Port, bay and city side.

Great spot that overlooks Napier port and the bay beyond. A bit tricky to find - I had to use Google maps search for lookout and then tap the Bluff Hill lookout icon on the map to be able to navigate to it. Theres a great view from the car park at the top, a short (30 secondwalk to a lookout area and Some really nice short walks from the top down the back of the hill amongst the well established trees. Well worth a visit!

Lovely lookout, but not a must visit place. Driving up the windy roads amongst the houses in Bluff Hill was nice. There are plenty of car parks at the top. Few benches looking out onto the sea and a small garden of flowers. Public toilet available. Bring a jacket as it is very windy (in winter).

Lovely place offering wonderful views of the Napier Port. You drive through the residential estate before arriving here. When we were there, there were several that have packed their lunch and drove up here just to eat them while on break. Good place for some cardio exercise too if you hike up.For simple walking around the area, that works too. Mostly flat with no steps.

The Bluff Hill Lookout providing visitors with sweeping views across Hawkes Bay and particularly nice look at Napier Port where container ships can be seen being loaded or offloaded, just below the bluff.It seems two 6-inch guns were placed there during the WWII war time period. Today, you find an open structure with table, a few seat, a directional alidade, nice flowers planted in front of the structure and great views of the sea and surrounding area.The viewpoint is not as impressive as what you can see at Ta Mata Peak near Havelock North, but is a easy and enjoyable activity, and very accessible from Napier. You can drive from the CBD or Marina Parade to the Bluff Hill Lookout in just under 5 minutes, just follow the signs

Good place to get an overall view of Hawkes Bay. Not much parking at the top and parts of the access road are narrow, twisting and steep. But you should expect to see tour buses on that road and be prepared to get out of their way. Other than the view not much to do up there.

Magnificent views of the Napier harbour and coast. A small well sign posted drive up the hill, or an interesting walk can be made through the various reserves to find your way to this lookout which has a little history behind it. Plaques give the detail, but you can happily relax at the top or casually roam the reaches if the lookout to take the surrounding area in.A definite spot to visit for any trip to Napier and the Hawkes Bay.

Another excellent place to visit whilst travelling around Hawkes Bay. Awesome view of the port along with gorgeous aqua coloured water. Public toilets at the top. Plenty of parking. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful spot. Road uphill was a bit narrow in parts. I wouldnt recommend driving an RV or large campervan up there cos theres no room around the tight corners...its either the steep drop or the mountain face.

The view from top of hill was breathtaking. So beautiful with 180 degree viewing. I am so glad that we have visited there. But the road up to top of hill was not easy to drive. Drivers must take extra care.
