Festive hangout offering sandwiches & po' boys amid blues-themed decor, with occasional live music.
Really good sandwiches. Super nice people work there. Very accommodating and stand up people.
Friendly service awaits you. The sandwich selection is large and the sandwiches are fresh and delicious. The owner stopped by our table and checked how our lunch was, impressive!
This is the best sandwich shop in St. Louis!! I come to this place all the time and it never disappoints.
I get the 7th street Sicilian (my dad would be proud), heavy onion, heavy sauce. It is a darn good sammich.
My favorite sandwich spot! I also love they now sell Melos pizza since it closed
Great little place to have a quick and tasty lunch. Food taste great, price is good and atmosphere is good.
No matter how busy they get they’re always cranking out dank sandwiches. Never ever have I had a bad sandwich here and the line is always moving quick! Seating can’t be difficult to find on a busy weekend but that’s something they can’t really fix due to its location.
The Thunderbird was incredible. Just the right balance of flavors, and just the right size. The sauce on it was so good. Spicy, creamy, and a little tart. On this trip we were looking for the best sandwiches that represented the cities we were in. At each stop I asked the counter person to order my sammie. I’m not sure how I’ve never been to Blues City Deli before but I will be back.
They got the best cookies and sandwiches I ever had in my tire life you can get refills is free I think I chips in the place and it’s fast it’s more like Subway but glitter
This place definitely lived up to the hype. Service was fast and incredibly friendly. On the drive home my boyfriend said he was full but already wanted to go back.
Best sandwiches in the city, hands down
Delish! Great muffaletta and veggie Ruben.
This restaurant was recommended by my friend, so I decided to give it a try. I was warned about a line of customers waiting. I was able to find a street parking next to the restaurant. The line looked long but it moved pretty quickly. I was able to get my sandwich in 15 minutes. There were 4 tables inside and 6 tables outside. The inside decor was unique. The restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. I ordered Delta Bayou. The meat was juice and the dressing was perfect with a little spice into it. I absolutely loved my sandwich. The price was reasonable. I will definitely repeat.
Still a fantastic place for a sandwich. The specials are good, in fact I wish some were on the menu full-time. This is the home of the best muffaletta Ive ever had. Not to be overlooked are the selection of chips and sodas. (They have Cheerwine!)
It was a great experience at Blues City Deli! Took the fam for some fresh tasty deli sandwiches done right... I love the Southside stl feel and the welcoming atmosphere!P.s. They were rocking since we walked in with a respectful wait time
Lived up to expectations. Melt in your mouth delicious sandwiches. Super friendly staff. Don’t miss out!
On a recent visit, we were pleased to see patrons inside and outside of the deli, but with a short line. We have had to wait in the past, but it is never long, and the staff are friendly. On our recent visit, we ordered the Benton Park and the 7th Street Sicilian. We were not disappointed and cannot wait to return for another outstanding meal. Or, as our friends challenged us, to try everything on the menu one meal at a time. Well done all!
Best sandwich in Saint Louis. I get the special of the day every visit and it is always fantastic!Simply nowhere better.Rating: 5.0 out of 5.
Love these sandwiches, best in the city! I enjoy the Knuckle Sandwich or Big Tommy. Dont sleep on this place
Found out about this place at work and wow . I love the vibe of the neighborhood and even waiting in line hearing about what others plan on ordering. Inside everybody I deal with is nice even when its 30 people behind me waiting to do the same thing. Every sandwich I have ever had here is delicious , my go to is the knuckle or thunderbird but , from the 7th street Sicilian to the chicken shack ranch I havent had one bad sandwich. As a Sandwich connoisseur this is a must for anybody passing by or local to the area. 11/10 would recommend.
This is obviously very well known in STL, but its underwhelmed us the 2 times weve been here. Its ok, but cant compare to the great sandwich spots like Gioias, The Wood Shack, The Gramophone, etc.
Amazing lunch spot if you’re near downtown area. Went here on my lunch break and the line was super quick. The staff was friendly and helpful she recommended a great sandwich. Glad this place is close to work because I’ll be back!
Vinny and Joey are number one when it comes to deli sandwiches and true Italian pizzas. Great decor great music cant beat itSincerely Christian Feinberg
Phenomenal... period !We always stop in when passing through. On our way to visit family, & again on the way back !!
This place has amazing sandwiches. I had the delta bayou today and an Italian chef salad with homemade Italian dressing. Both were fantastic!
The Prezi pastrami is my go-to and Ive never been disappointed. There is usually a line, but it goes quick and is worth the wait.
We ate here a couple times last summer while my daughter was interning in the St Louis area. She is returning to St Louis to intern (once againsummer 2022 and I just cant wait to go back to Blues City Deli. I cant quite put my finger on why their sandwiches are soooo good but they really are!
Great sandwiches at this clean and lively corner deli. I had a black and blue with fresh juicy beef on an equally fresh sesame seed roll in a pleasant outdoor table experience. There is very little seating inside so plan on outdoors or taking your order to go. They specialize in serving the large lunch crowd quickly and with personality. On street parking is available in the nearby neighborhood.
A buddy and I split two sandwiches: Aporkalypse and the Knuckle Sandwich (I added lettuce and tomato). Both sandwiches were fantastic: great flavors, super fresh, sauces were 👍, awesome bread, etc. Service was very friendly and they were hustling to keep the line moving quickly.
This place has sandwiches that put everyone to shame, fast service and friendly workers. I really cant praise this place enough, their Poboys live up to the name with a great price and a even greater taste. The entire menu is fairly good priced and the building is just soaked with culture and history. I got the Benton Park with a bottled grape soda and a Dads Cookies and was wowed by all of it, on top of that they had Ski and Cherry Ski on tap. Truly a 5 star sandwich joint, if roast beef and an Poboys are your game, then this is the place to be!
One of the best sandwich shops in St. Louis. Big selection of delicious sandwiches. Cool atmosphere!!
I have been coming to Blues City Deli since around the time they opened when I was 14, I am 31 now; Went today for lunch, had the Aporkalypse Pretzelwich and it was seriously AMAZING. First time having that particular sandwich and my friend and I were both nearly speechless when we first tasted it. So good, made me fall in love with the place all over again. But all of their sandwiches are excellent and they even have some red beans and rice as well. Dont sleep on the Boom-Boom Sauce!
Man this place can make a mean sandwich. Nothing, and I mean nothing tastes like it’s straight out of a package. It’s JUST FANTASTIC! A St. Louis staple for sure!
Best Reuben Ive ever had. My 3 year old said it was an even better turkey sandwich than mine and we all know no one does it like Mom. Definitely worth the wait!
Yummy yummy!!! Every sandwich was delicious but the Reuben was my favorite. The ingredients are fresh, homemade sauces, and fresh bread.
Blues City Deli! I love this place. When I visited 10 years ago it was good then and it’s good now. Moving back to St. Louis I was so happy to see this was still around as it should be. Best damn sandwiches. Always friendly staff and they’re quick to get you in and out. Fantastic food. Enjoy!!
Delicious, but beware of the gigantic portions! I wish there were some more veggies on the menu like greens or beans but the food is great and affordable. I loved the Reuben and red beans and rice. Dining area is small but pleasant. Huge lines at lunch, clearly very popular.
Amazing. The line is intimidating, but definitely worth it and it moves swiftly. atmosphere is very blues-y and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. food is always hot and fresh and they have a great selection of beers to choose from. check it out if you get the chance!
Ok, if you like a good sandwhich and have not visited, then you really need to check this place out. The service was super friendly, since I was a first time visitor they threw in a little extra for a sample. I ended up having the Roast Beef, Muffuletta, and Red Beans & Rice (extra yummyand all were better than average. With lines out the door, its already been discovered and I will definitely return.
Awesome food. A lot of choices on the menu. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is usually a little bit of a line, but the staff does a great job of keeping the line moving. All kinds of cool items all over the walls. Great option for lunch if you are in the area.
This place is a Saint Louis mainstay. Ive only really ever come at lunchtime, so I have yet to hear live music, here, but the decor speaks to the love of the blues. Its not just a clever name. Each weekday has a daily special, and Thursdays is the Sloppy Steve Sandwich: a hot roast beef, slathered in melted cheese and topped with caramelized onions and green peppers. Oh my. So good.Lunch lines can get incredibly long, so show up early (open at 11 am).
Lives up to its reputation. Great service, awesome sandwich, but holy hell the red beans and rice special were amazing. Cant wait to eat here again.
The sandwhich was great!!! I took bites of the Roast Beef and Chicken sandwhiches and they were equally as delish! Theres a line but it goes by pretty quickly.
I had the Delta Bayou and my companion had the Prez. Both were dynamite! Seriously two of the best sandwiches Ive ever had. I added salt and pepper chips to the delta bayou for a bit of crunch and it was oh so good!Went for a 2nd visit and had the Queenie this time. Two thumbs up. 👍👍
I eat here often. No place quite like Blues City in this area. Do not be discouraged if theres a line out the door and half way around the sidewalk, thats normal and it moves fast. My favorite sandwich is a modified version of the Benton Park with an additional 6 strips of bacon. Good for the stomach, not good for the heart!
Great sandwiches!! That’s why this place is so busy! If you’re ordering for a group of people for lunch. Order before 10 and pick t up before they open at 11. If you go around 11-1 there will be a line going out the door! Definitely worth it!
Things to know:1. My Giovanni Special sandwich is one of THE best sandwiches I have ever had. See that big chunk of white stuff? Fresh mozzarella baby, and the olive salad the owner suggested to add along was amazing.2. Only street parking, so be prepared to walk if its during the week.3. We were there today about 1230 for lunch (12.28and thought we had missed the rush. Nope. By the time we were done eating, the line was out the door and about 30 people long. However, it moves fairly quickly w/two cashiers.4. Pepsi AND Coke products!5. One restroom, make sure you lock the door or it could be awkward.6. Small dining room, but we shared a table with a couple of nice folks. Plus, they turn over quickly and there was a girl wiping them down as someone left.7. Seating outside.8. Owner was very cool in helping me make my decision on what to eat.9. My husbands pastrami was bomb but it was grilled in a panini press, surprisingly good.10. COOLEST. CORNER. JOINT. EVER.
A female employee went completely above and beyond to help us decide and she was checking on everyone - best service ever - Im a NY sandwich snob and my food was as good possibility better than my favorite NY heros! I would love to try everything on the menu. This place is the best - worth the wait in line. The line moves fast!
Amazing sandwiches. Great breads and rolls. Top notch selection of chips and beer. And the music! A little busy at lunch but they move quick and theres plenty of seating outside.
One of the best sandwiches Ive ever had. I have to go there every time Im in St Louis. It is very popular. Be prepared to wait in line. It does have a very small seating area and its very hard to get a table.
