Bluebird Brasserie - Brewery & Eatery - Brewery in Sherman Oaks, United States
Had my birthday dinner here while in LA for some meetings and apartment hunting, and wow this place was amazing. As a horror fan, I LOVED IT, as a vegan food fan, I LOVED IT, and as a person who appreciates kind staff, I LOVED IT. I pray to God Dirk’s gets the business it needs to remain on Ventura for years to come, because I will soon live close enough to be a very frequent customer.Dirk was an awesome dude who gave me a tour of the inside as a special treat, and I was in awe. It’s always so nice to meet someone who appreciates horror even more than I do.Spending my 20th birthday at Dirks was the best decision I could’ve made. As long as it’s still there, any birthdays I have for years to come will be celebrated there as well. Also, I never write reviews. That should say something!
Oh man. This is literally the place I’ve been wanting. Beer, enough vegan options for me to choose from and surrounded by the spooky and scary. They have clips from classic movies playing on a big projector screen in the back patio.Friendly staff as well. Beer is supplied by Blue Bird Brew but they also have other beers and cocktails if craft beer isn’t your thing. Not a full vegan menu but like I said plenty of options.Off of Ventura so think about parking as it’s all on the street. Can’t wait to go again
Had the Sherman Spokes amber and the Background Czech Pils. The beers were decent, though I was surprised by the lack of Belgian style beers on the menu. The food seems to cater to vegans, but they do have options for their carnivorous friends. We had the pepperoni pizza, which was again pretty good. Food options were limited given sourcing challenges according to the server. Despite that, Bluebird seems to be maintaining some options. Curbside seating was nice, though Ventura Blvd was noisy. The house music was first wave punk, predominately British, which was fun. Enjoyed our visit, though would like to see more carnivore friendly options and more Belgian style beers offered.
Great service, nice ambiance, food was ok, made me miss the old menu. While the vegan options were limited, it definitely felt more fresh. Looking forward to returning for the back patio though!
2nd time back today. Excellent craft beer, great service and the vegan options are super tasty. Loved the Merguez spicy sub and french onion fries, amazing. Servers were friendly despite masks shields and gloves, kinda still in the horror vibe and not too awkward haha.
The food is amazing, and the beers are top notch (brewed in houseService is the best. But the horror decor is straight out of the movies! Makes you feel like a kid again, halloween 24/7! I 100% reccomend it to everyone. All ages welcomed at Dirks Terror Tavern🎃
My girlfriend and I came here and I got the chicken sandwich and she got the brisket Mac n Cheese. Unfortunately her Mac n Cheese was quite cold and underdone. Also, the layout of the restaurant was much smaller than I expected, which is fine, however, be prepared to likely be in fairly tight quarters on a Saturday night. All that said, the beer was genuinely very good and I will be back for that alone - hopefully on a warmer summer night when the doors and windows are open.
7/5 Stars!! This place is awesome. Small little microbrew with crisp, refreshing, ice cold brew. Honestly best beer on the market, saisons and strong ale award winners are my new favorites. Absolutely amazing. Joe was awesome. Great service, very friendly. Fun atmosphere, lowkey ambiance with games, some couch seating and a great menu. I showed up at 10pm and it was actually happy hour. Hands down, the wagyu beef burger was the best burger Ive had in a long time. Fries could have been crisper but still tasty. Got a flight for $8. Was curious about a beer and joe was cool enough to reconfirm with an extra serving. Burger was on the small side, still hungry so ordered a brisket mac n chs HIGHLY recommended. Will definitely be back. Thank you for great service
So happy I stumbled upon this place. I had my birthday dinner here and they did not disappoint. The service was fast and friendly, the food came out hot and it was delicious. I got the Impossible Burger the same texture as meat and it was really good, I never had an impossible burger before so I might be bias but I would def go back for this burger. My friends enhoyed themselves. The ambiance is lovely. Honestly, Id recommend this place for a date night or birthday dinner... we headed to the escape room in Sylmar The Basement right after so it was quick and delicious right before escaping a horror scene! Enjoy!
Amazing food, they are now open for lunch. Be sure to check them out!
really liked this restaurant! the service and food were great. i got a wagyu classic burger that was reasonably priced. they also have a very reasonable happy hour so be sure to check that out. street parking for dinner on a saturday night wasnt bad at all. metered till 6pm or 8pm (check the signs!)
Tony and his team have done it again! Took me longer than it should have to discover this gem but Ill certainly make up for lost time. The vibe is all you could ask for out of a brewery; made to feel like a classic English brewpub with reclaimed brick and arched ceilings. We didnt eat this time around but can speak to the quality of the beer. Solid, crisp, and crushable with a number of style options. My new favorite place to grab a pint. Cheers!
Interesting dishes...definitely reminds me of Belgium. Love the vegan options. Cool deco....and foosball table..
Bustling, upscale brewpub. I had the mussels and the last had the salmon. We also shared an order of wings. The wings were good, but nothing to write home about. The salmon is pretty much like any other salmon youd get at this style of restaurant. The mussels were tasty and cooked properly. I did find one dead one, but thats not a big deal. The sauce they were cooked in was to die for. I couldve destroyed an entire loaf of bread doing up all that goodness. Service was a little bit spotty. They all seemed slightly overwhelmed, but everything came out hot. I do want to come back and try more of their beer.
While not a beer aficionado, I did enjoy a Czech and a Belgium style beer for my first visit here, both were fantastic. The food was creative and good and our bartender was friendly, efficient & knowledgeable.. an unbeatable combination! The brick architecture is also beautiful!
Amazing house beers, with a new beer literally one week after my first visit. If youve thought about checking it out, do yourself a favor and go right away. Food is also amazing with several vegan options (try the Merguez Sandwich). My friends love the non-vegan food.A few TVs; wooden decor with open, arched doors. Nighttime has some low lighting, but its not dark. Id describe it as divey if it wasnt so clean and friendly. Also they have wine, liquor, & cocktails if beer isnt your thing.
After a long morning hike, my husband and I decided to give Bluebird a try. We were lucky to be one of the first to try their new brunch item, chicken and waffles. Absolutely delicious! The staff was super friendly, fast service, great beer selection and drinks, and Chef Nick came out himself to make sure we enjoyed the new menu item and the Ricotta Tartine. We really appreciated that. Definitely will be back!
Very pleasantly surprised, its not just a gastropub its people who respect food and drink and progressively enhance what it means to be culinary. Extensive beer list and YOU HAVE TO GET THE FLEMISH FRIES- insanely good, Wagyu Beef-just divine. The brussel sprouts with merguez réduction were also hard to beat along with the ridiculous Belgian waffle desert a la mode. Too good! I had a Negroni and a black currant spritz and both exceeded my expectations. They also have events so get in game and join the crowd! Good people.
Im going to say this place was as great as I remember, but it was my 30th bday and I had to celebrate like it was my 21st. From the glimpse of memories I have, their food was as good as any pubery around. They also had a great selection of beer, and I think I tried them all. Good selection of tequila as well, just ask my dad. I liked the layout as well. Long bar, cool brick decor, valet, the works. Thanks for hosting my dirty dirty!
Great variety of beer, and the addition of Belgian styles is a welcome addition to the areas brewery scene. Foods also great. I only wish then happy hour duration was longer. $4 craft beers (4 to 6pm)!
This place is amazing. Fantastic food and service. I went there for a girlie brunch. Delicious Bloody Marys made to specific taste (spice level and vodka level). We ordered the leek quiche, scrambled eggs on toast with a delicious mint chimichurri sauce, and waffles with coconut cream. Best waffles weve ever had. They were buttery and flaky and scrumptious. 🤤
My wife and I just came to the Blue Bird Brassiere for Brunch and it was fantastic. The breakfast board was incredible. The chicken liver mousse was very rich and flavorful and the softboiled egg, shaved ham, bread, pickled onion and Cornish pickles were perfect compliments to each other. The brunch burger was also incredible. It has so much flavor and was a very healthy portion. Made with Wagyu beef and topped with bacon, an egg, and other delicious things it was a perfect blend of French and American food. The in house beer was also quite good which the pride themselves in. Had the round 2 which was super easy to drink and nice and strong. The blood orange sangria was excellent as well. We didnt get to try the waffles but thats only because we ate every single bite of what we had. The coffee was also very good. After going to France for a week and coming back this was a perfect way to bridge the gap between the American and French styles of food. Will definitely be back here and make this our local bar. The staff was also extremely friendly, informative, and helpful and made the experience a lot better. An 11/10.
I really enjoyed this place. The beer is spectacular and the food was pretty great too. I live nearby and Im glad my girlfriend suggested it. I dont remember our waiters name but he was really helpful & attentive. The only slight drawback is the parking situation... we had to drive around a while until we found a (legalspot. Cool place though... check it out! We will be returning for sure.
This was a great pub type restaurant that was recommended by my friend who lives in LA. Staff were very friendly and helpful with menu items. Atmosphere was a great happening place. Food and drinks were really well done. The beer is all made on site which I found really unique. Recommend if your looking for a nice pub atmosphere.
Food was meh... We both got burgers and it just wasnt my type of burger... The beer was good. I dont like that they dont have heating in the restaurant. When people came inside and left the door open I would freeze. My husband has to go close the door multiple times
Happy to have a brewery in Sherman Oaks. Great ambiance. Busy on a Saturday night. Limited food but delicious nonetheless. Beer flights available.
Food is very good mussels with frites is excellent. But you have to tell the chef you want the. Concentrated Belgian way Instead of the extra soupy American way with lots of broth and weak broth flavor. Get it Belgian way. Much less sauce but flavor intensity is 10x and. It’s actually traditional. That way I’m Belgium. Chicken. There was also excellent.
Happy to have this brew pub brewery in my neighborhood. Excellent beer and drink selection. Great vegetarian options. Well lit. Ideal noise level. Attentive and knowledgeable staff.
I appreciate how flavourful the mustard seed dressing was on the Salade Liégeoise. The bacon was TWO tiny 1"x1/4" bits. The portion was very small. The Turkey sandwich was good but small. Originally intended to order the Bolognese pasta, but once we found out that "Impossible Meat" was a vegan mock meat, we immediately changed minds. Waiter was pushing us to order it, but we refused. The noise level is high here.Valet, or street prkg. This gorgeous restaurant is being taken over by the Vegans of Sherman Oaks/Studio City and its a shame they dont serve better food to match the architecture.
The beer selection is fantastic, and the incorporating of the impossible meat is genius! While the the cooking was indeed good, the menu seems to revolve around the bar crowd and I was a little disappointed by that. The pan seared chicken was fabricated nicely and was seasoned with provincial herbs. Cooked perfectly, however the french fries didnt accent it well. The impossible meatballs came in a delicious house made red sauce, on top of a garlic oil fried slice of bread. The flavor profile was excellent. If your looking for excellent beer in a beautiful atmosphere with some decent bites, check it out. However if your looking for a course meal, keep looking.
Found this place thru instagram thought I would give it a try and I’m glad I did. The beer was cold and delicious. I had the steak frites, the steak was cooked perfectly and was extremely flavorful, the fries were a great compliment. But by far the best part of or experience here was the service, every one we met was very nice and helpful.
this was a wonderful restaurant the food was absolutely delicious I am a meat eater and my sister is a vegan and she was able to find something on the menu that she absolutely loved. and she loves mix menu places so that she can go out with her meat eating friends and they dont have to feel obligated to eat her diet. the meal that I got was the Brie with the radishes on the toast and it was so good. it was amazingly delicious I came in on a Sunday afternoon and I could have chosen to get one of their beers I chose to just drink some coffee and some water and they brewed us a fresh pot of coffee.
Great food (large majority of vegan friendly optionsand drinks, if youre there for the beer mostly...I say try a fight. Brunch is good, but happy hour is better and daily.
Loved this place! The decor is one of a kind. Made me feel like I was in some ancient castle. The food was good. Drinks were good. And costumer service was amazing! They have beer, wine and specialty cocktails. Ill definitely come back to this place.
Very pricey for the small portion size. The food is delicious, they are trying hard for a Belgian influence. However, their Liege Waffle is a disappointment: Except for its shape it has nothing to do with a real Liege style waffle, wrong flour and missing the distinctive candy sugar kernels that would be caramelizing in the batter while baking. The atmosphere is nice, but loud.
Great Happy Hour that also include veggie options and delicious beer
Went for brunch on Sunday and liked this place. Great vibe , unique menu, nice service. Will for sure come back to try other dishes.
Great ambiance and design! The food is geared towards beer drinkers. A bit too heavy for my taste. Too much bread in tartines. My friend and I ended up using the extra bread for the mousse pate (delish! And for dipping in the muscles broth ( yummy). I wish the made open face tartines instead of subway style sandwiches! Frites were a bit too greasy. Maybe will try their brunch menu.
The beer and atmosphere here is great. The food is pretty good. I like that they have a lot of vegan/vegetarian friendly options. The service over all is good. But the bartender needs to have a stronger sense of urgency. I found myself waiting for drinks while he chatted away and ended up only drinking a beer because it took so long to get and he never asked me if i wanted a second.
The interior of this space is rad! The exposed brick arches really helps to transport you to a Belgian drinking hall. The veg-heavy/friendly menu is highly welcome, considering the usual bias towards meat with booze. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by the beer—both the ones they brewed and the options from outside brewers.
A fantastic new Belgian style brewpub. We came during happy hour, and got to sample a few of their Belgian style ales, which are brewed by them, and which were all top notch. We also tried a couple of cocktails, which were actually very decent too.We also tried the moules frites, the meatballs, and the half sandwich happy hour specials. Id recommend all of them.
Amazing knowledgeable staff. Vic helped me most of the time. Knew his stuff 100%, super cool dude, great bartender. Had the Stay Gold house beer, and honestly it may have been the best beer Ive ever had. 10/10 experience.
This place is a nice spot if you want to take a lunch date or dinner. The ambiance is really great and they keep with the theme by brewing beer in house and in view. The food is pretty good, fries can be a bit salty :/. One star down only because it took me almost 20 minutes to find parking. Make sure to read the signs!
Solid upscale bar food that leans but is not exclusively vegetarian/vegan. The mussels and beer (several drafts are made on site plus a well-curated selection of bottles is availableare the stand outs. Service is friendly but a bit frantic as the place is currently packed to capacity from 6PM onwards each weekend. Plenty of street parking and they also offer valet.
This is a good place for locals but definitely not a destination Brewery. Their beers lack complexity. Luckily, they have guest beers on tap so I would suggest going with those. The food also seems to be a little hit-and-miss. The curry mussels with fries was good but the cheese sandwich was definitely a miss.
Beautiful restaurant but very noisy. We needed to raise our voices to talk. Limited menu but food was tasty. Very good fries. Belgian style beers made on premises, plus guest beer in the bottle, which were a bit pricy. Limited but nice wine selection. Service friendly but a bit slow.
This place is beautiful with delicious food. One of the managers is always coming around and checking on everything due to the fact that they are a fairly new restaurant. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here and trying one of their "in house" brewed beer.
Amazing atmosphere and really friendly staff. Glad to have this place in Sherman Oaks! Everything we ordered was delish. What I appreciate most about this place is that while they have a ton of great craft beer options they also have a few great wines for those who dont want beer. Usually when we go to a "gastropub" my husband has zillions of beers to choose from and unless I want to order a mixed drink, Im left with the option of ordering the one cider or a glass of overpriced and fairly crapppy wine. I appreciate that Bluebird has good wine at a good price.
New Belgian styled bar. Their in house tripel is pretty good. Other food is okay. Only annoying thing is you have to order at the bar and find a table after.
Bluebird has beer brewed on site, & a really intriguing cocktail menu, with a menu full of diverse food options for meet eaters, vegans, and gluten free folks. The interior of the restaurant looks like a Belgian cellar with windows into the full-scale brewing operation. This place is definitely worth checking out!
