Journey through naturally themed habitats, including an underwater tunnel with sharks and reef fish.
An amazing place perfect for all ages
A fantastic place to visit. We arrived just before the archer fish feeding time at 3pm so the chap on the counter kindly told us about it and took us to their area before seeing anything else so we didnt miss it, giving us introductions how to get back to the start so we didnt miss anything. The chap feeding the archer fish explained what was going to happen and how they hunt before he fed them.Having been to another well known aquarium the day before, we really didnt know what go except. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the tanks clean and stocked to show off happy, well care for fish. We would strongly recommend a visit if you are in the area and the entry fee is very reasonable too. Extra bonus was a ray coming to the top, I really have a soft spot for Ray fish.
Small but good. Kids loved it. Gift shop is a bit cheeky as most things not actually priced which caused issues. Coffee shop was ok. Overpriced for what it was. Pizzas were OK. Had to return 2 as not cooked properly. Didnt have much choice in stock. If your looking for freshly made, this is not for you as all food is premade and ordered in.
You lose track of time when you walk in...plenty colorful fishes and species
Well worth the money but dont whizz through! Theres lots to see and learn about the different species. Some endangered ☹Lovely lady at the ticket desk (fair hair tied back). Enjoyed our visit thank you.
Lovely aquarium, with amazing animals and enclosures. The staff were super friendly and helpful.Nice to see the axoltols in a suitable enclosure as usually places have them on gravel or stone which is wrong.Autism friendly.Absolutely loved it ❤️
My children throughly enjoyed our visit, especially our 19 month old. The walk through is a really great feature. We got the hastings 3 ticket offer so went here, to the castle and to Smugglers adventure. We felt it a great deal and a great day in Hastings
Ok this aquarium is nice, we planned out day out specifically to visit it.If I am honest there were points where I felt the tanks were maybe a bit small but the fact you can come and go through the day is great because you can see all the feeding sessions, its right on the sea front so the beach and sea is right there. We also really enjoyed the funicular and the two museums just next door.
Ok but for the size of the it could have been half the cost we did not eat in the cafe !! sitting on stain seats is not my idea of fun , wipe clean seats is the way forward not cloth .
Beautiful little place for kids to enjoy exploring fishes. Its bit pricy but value for money as kids enjoy watching sharks and many more kinds of fish in tanks. Star fish, jelly fish and many more. Great place and highly remembered
Nice little aquarium, great views into tanks. The tunnel through the fish is awesome. Really cool interior like exploring caves but with fish.
Not a very big place but quite interesting, kids loved seeing all the different fish.
Nice selection of animals and a lovely gift shop with a range of items to suit all budgets. Toilets were clean and well stocked. Staff could have been a little more child friendly when my 3 year old son was talking about all the animals he new to the cashier she didnt seem overly interested in him. The stapled on images of fish were pretty scruffy and budget and it would cost very little but make a big difference to appearance to mount frames on walls so images could be easily interchanged. The green screen was a nice feature for a family picture and we enjoyed the ocean feed.Overall a nice place and a good assortment of animals to see however could use a little smartened up
Lovely little aquarium with lots of colourful and interesting sea creatures, tropical fish plus some reptiles and snakes too. We went at 4pm on a weekday during the summer holidays and it was very quiet, plenty of space to look at everything. Not quite sure how I feel about the amount of plastic tut in the gift shop though, I wonder how much will end up in the ocean.
Great place, so much to see. Fantastic. I went just with my husband. We love it
Lovely little place, looked really small outside but had so much. The kids loved it.
Nice , but very small aquarium so do not expect a long activity, does not take long to walk around. The staff are very nice and friendly. Can have a coffee ice cream on site and walk round again. Gift shop toilets on site. Adults approx £12. kids £9
Took our 2 granddaughters (5 + 9and they absolutely loved it, well set out and plenty to see.Well worth a visit, plus lots of other things to do in Hastings.
Aquarium which is located at far end of Hastings beach, small attraction which takes aprox 15 mins to do , best bit is the underwater tunnel, which has some sharks and various other large fish, i liked the fish tank with mante rays, overall ok but not as big as I thought, prices ok and has a small gift shop.Location was its main issue as should be nearer to the main promenade and a bit hidden away.
What a lovely little aquarium. Perfect size for my two young children. Really well kept, very clean toilets and wonderfully friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back!
We purchased the 3 in one ticket which included the aquarium, the smugglers caves and the castle. Nice experience and better than some other aquariums, although my 5 year olddaughter raced through it so we were done in around 15 minutes. The low level tanks grabbed her attention but most of the mid to high level tanks/displays she couldnt see without being lifted and shes going through the independent stage so she just felt a bit frustrated. We got there in time for a sea feeding session but the sharks seemed full and disinterested. The under water passage was the highlight for me, although be careful on the steps down, the rubber white strips on one staircase is extremely slippy and an older lady fell down them when we passed through a second time. I reported it to reception and they said it must be condensation and theyd go wipe it up. Id prefer to see this replaced with something more grippy as clearly this is a regular concern if it can be affected by condensation. My daughter particularly enjoyed taking a photo at the kiosk near the end and having it printed and placed into a magnet at reception (although be prepared to attach stronger magnets as the ones supplied are not strong enough).Would I go again? If I was on my own, yes. If we had free or discounted tickets, probably yes. Otherwise Ill wait till shes older and can reach the higher tanks on her own and read the descriptions or shows a more enthusiastic interest in underwater life.
A small Aquarium but does the job for children or young ones entertainment for an hour. A bit dark in places to read anything and they highlight the fact of keeping the ocean clean and plastic-free yet sell plastic water bottles and Coke at the entrance, I mean, really?!
Small but interesting Aquarium. Lots to see. Underwater tunnel not accessible for wheelchair users but you can see all the inhabitants from other viewing windows. Good value for money.
Great day out, you can return the same day once you leave, plenty to see and lots to read, it isnt the biggest Aquarium but its still enjoyable and its all reasonably priced, cafe and toilets on site
Really lovely time out, interesting and fun, lots to see. This isnt the largest of places, I saw this as a huge benefit however as it wasnt tiring and can take as long as required rather than rushing through to fit it all in.The whole aquarium is spacious to walk around still which made it easier and is definitely wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Pushchairs can be left in a pushchair parking bay inside if required. There wasnt a moment where many tanks werent visible as the walk throughs are also full of tanks, displays, fascinating info and more, so is able to house as much as a larger building! The viewing tunnel is long enough but not too long to feel youre in a tunnel! The tunnel was spacious too and so much to see. What can be viewed in the tunnel can also be seen when walking in, the difference is they swim above you, yet I found both experiences equally as great. It was great to see some of the more unusual looking fishes and the seahorses and sharks. There is also a reptile room and I spotted a couple of machines holding fossils in one and sharks teeth in another (which you can slot in £1 and twist the handle for a ball to drop out with your piece of history inside)! This is great as gift shop prices can be a bit on the steep side. The entry cost to the aquarium is really reasonable and loved that tickets can be purchased when there without having to book a visit. I believe tickets bought online can be used any day within so many months so if plans change, tickets are still valid.Staff were friendly and everyone is left to enjoy their visit, some rooms and areas are under special lighting or relatively darkened for the species that require it.Was able to take photos and videos throughout.A very enjoyable visit. It turned out to be a favourite for all of us, regardless of our different ages, interests and personalities!
Brilliant place for a brilliant price... The fish are some of the healthiest I have seen, plenty of room for them.. my only gripe is I wish it was a bit bigger
Lovely experience for SEN kids . A bit smaller then expected, though still we had a good time.
Brilliant little aquarium. Takes about 45min to go round and a bonus with tickets valid for 6 months.
Fantastic place, well looked after and great, helpful staff
Great fun and educational especially for younger children but also for adults. All the fish and other animals look very well cared for. Theres something for everyone but for me the highligh had to be the Octopus. I didnt see him till my 4th visit but it was so worth waiting. 🐙 I got a great photo of him which I have attached. There are steps down and up from the huge perspex pipe that you can walk through and see the fish all around you. This makes it difficult if you have a pushchair and impossible if you are a wheelchair user. I would have thought they could have designed it with ramps rather than steep steps but then I am not an architect so perhaps they couldnt. But that aside if you are able to walk through it then it is fantastic.I would suggest getting an annual pass as its good value and if you have young kids then youll be back again. Also it gives you entrance to Hastings Castle and the caves which I think they call smugglers adventure nowadays. The aquarium is not huge so during school holidays it can get very busy so my advice would be visit out of season if possible. Well worth a visit. I can easily spend 45 minutes in there looking around. It really is a relaxing and educational place and our granddaughters love it.
Accepts Forces/veterans discount 10%. Is nice place to visit with family only a few steps in the whole place so easily accessible and once paid you can enter as many times as you like throughout the day.
May 2022.Day out in Hastings and visited Blue Reef.. It doesnt take long to get round but would recommend as an indoor activity if weather is inclement.
This is a lovely place to visit when in Hastings. The staff were welcoming as soon as we walked in.Theres lots of interactive things dotted about for younger children to try out, read and touch. The displays are lovely and all the fish look well looked after there too.Walking through the underwater tunnel and seeing the sharks swimming over your head is amazing.A wonderful way to spend some time.
Loved it. Medium sized aquarium but plenty of fish & beautiful small sharks. Also has reptiles, lizards, tarantula, turtles, snakes & more.My 2 year old absolutely loved it.You just book online & visit when ready no need to book a specific date u just turn up on the day u want, your tickets are valid for 6 months & u can visit all day, so u can go out to explore & have lunch then go back again as many times as u want. They also have 2 feeding sessions a day so u get to see them eat.All staff are super friendly, welcoming & helpful, phoned before hand for information too & the man I spoke to gave me loads of information & was so polite & friendly & didnt rush me of the phone like some businesses do, it made me want to go even more after speaking to him.Toilets are clean 🚻 (Inc disabled toilets & baby changinggift shop is a little pricey but some nice stuff.Go u wont regret it. Prices are very fair too.
A small aquarium that only takes about 30 mins to walk around. A nice variety of fish; lion fish, rays, sharks, sea urchins... There was also an underwater tunnel, although it seemed a bit empty. They had an Easter challenge for kids (find hidden letters of the alphabet and white rabbits to enter a prize draw). It was ok.
Small aquarium in Hastings, very quiet when we visited around midday on a Monday. They had feeding times, where they did a talk about certain fish at certain times. Clean facilities. Gift shop and Cafe available.
It was a nice experience, would give 3.5 stars out of 5, was quite a short experience though as it only takes about 20 minutes to go round the whole place.
Lovely staff, healthy fish but its all over so soon..Expensive for a family, even though they other for you to come back all day.
A brilliant aquarium with great variety of sea creatures and reptiles. It’s a lovely, small aquarium which is well maintained, clean and easy to explore, great for children. We especially loved the little blue cushion starfish - absolutely adorable! The staff were warm and friendly. We visited the aquarium during our staycation in Rye, and it was definitely worth visiting!
Lovely aquarium with clean tanks, beautiful creatures, and some amazing exhibits I’ve never seen before, like the giant clam. The kids had a great time admiring the reef fish, sea horses, urchins, cucumbers, star fish, octopus, sharks, etc.I must say fidgety young ones like mine see everything there is to see here in 15 minutes. The family ticket is reasonably priced, and the shop sells a few interesting items.I would have given it 5 stars if the tarantula habitat had been flagged up in the reptile room. I had a terrible fright when I saw it, and I imagine many of the 1 in 20 people who have arachnophobia feel the same. I mean, if hotels can take out the 13th floor because of triskaidekaphobia, family-friendly venues can surely put a sign in a room to warn people that there’s a humongous arachnid in there.
A great Aquarium with an incredible variety of sealife. Its TARDIS like, with a huge number of tanks in what seems externally like a relatively small building. The fish tanks are spotless and well kept.
A nice little place and great for children. The usual aquarium you would expect by the seaside, some lovely animals and nice that there are a few snakes etc. as well as the fish. Three stars given because it could do with more interactivity, such as feeds and talks; and the customer service wasn’t great. Unfortunately the woman on the front desk came across quite rude.I can also recommend the 3-in-1 attraction ticket if you want to visit a few places, as this includes the Bluereef Aquarium, Hastings Castle, and Smugglers Cove. Be sure to check opening times as these aren’t open all week.
We visited here as part of the 3 attraction purchase. Its quiet expensive when you have a large family. This was probably enjoyed most out of the 3 attractions. There was several fish tanks to look at and the reptile section is nice. It wasnt busy when we went, on a Saturday afternoon. Takes about 30/40 minutes to walk around, when view all of the tanks. It is quiet a small aquarium but its not bad for what it is. Wouldnt be something we would visit often but maybe come again one day.
What a fantastic and interesting place. Great value for money and the fish are amazing. Lots of information, great place to take children. Well worth a visit.
A lovely little place to visit and see a number of different little creatures, we came along as part of a day trip to Hastings and thoroughly enjoyed it! We had planned to visit Blue Reef and Smugglers Adventure, which is nearby, and were pleasantly surprised to see an offer for a "three in one" ticket for these two plus Hastings Castle, which we didnt get to, but did enjoy the first two.Whilst not massive, this is a great little aquarium and well worth the visit - good value for money, especially when combined with the other attractions - you can come and go as you please, although once youve seen everything... well laid out and lots of information.
Great place for the family, not too big, but we came back later and went round again. staff really friendly, polite and helpful. Great toilets really modern and clean.
the entry price wasnt that bad 12.50 per person doesnt take that long to go around but its a cute little aquarium, the gift shop prices are quite high though for some things there but had a nice time and my boy enjoyed it
Really nice, enjoyed the visit. Thought it was a small aquarium for the entrance price, but the BBC were filming on this day and it was fascinating to watch the childrens puppet Stanley. And his A to Z visits.
Took my Mum and sister and Nephew here as it was raining. Glad we came, an excellent assortment of fish in nice habitats. Theres a toilet and giftshop as well. Sub 50 quid for a family of 4 isnt to sad these days. Well worth a visit should keep the sprogs entertained. Also a big carpark just outside that is reasonably priced.
Lovely to come back to the first aquarium i ever went to as a child. Its lovely to see a variety of animals including some reptiles! I absolutely love that at the end of your journey around the aquarium you can take a photo on the booth and impose a background to suit. The place was well kept and good precautions in place regarding covid safety. The gift shop offers a wide range of options to suit small gifts and big spenders. The staff when i visted were very pleasant and informative of safety measures and animal feeds taking place. Overall a really lovely experience and i cant wait to come back again soon!
