If you dont go then you wont know. It is the garden of eden less the forbidden fruit. I had more varieties of fruit in a 24 hour period than I have the last 51 years of my life. All that being said, the experience reset me and also put my body, mind and spirit back in alignment. Thank you to the Scott family for introducing me to a place that needs to be kept special to not only myself but those that reside in paradise. Yes! I shall return ot only for me but to give of myself to the community in any capacity.
My head, heart and soul have found new heights that have no equal. You must stop along the way at the many roadside fruit stands and try absolutely everything. You can rely on that to be a necessity. Also, if you dont try the local jerk, you may not leave the island. It should be a law.
One of the most calming and nature tucked spot in Jamaica especially if you love mountains, greenery and nature trails.also offers good camping options
Wonderful place!! Rent a tent or one of the 3 comfortable cabins available at Holywell. Each cabin is equipped with hot/cold water, cooking facilities, utensils and refrigerator. There is also a sitting area and fireplace. There are also BBQ pits outside the cabins.
I enjoyed the nature and the look out,the rooms, but the place is extremely Cold especially at nights, also have water heater for showers
Experience nature at its best definitely a place to visit more often
It was hard but totally worth it. Kinda reminds me of lifes journey, more so my Christian walk. When I started out I almost turned back. I ended up heading in the wrong direction at one point and had to call someone for help (cellphone)lol. I eventually went back on the right track, I thought Id never see that big brown gate at Jacobs Ladder/Portland gap, lol I started praying and asking God to forgive me of my sins because I thought I was going to die, then I finally arrived at the cabins, can you imagine how I felt, RELIEF. I ended up spending the night in one of the cabins, it was COLD, I did not sleep well because of how cold it was. I mean ice water was coming from the pipe. In the am I was contemplating going back down without even getting to the peak but met some wonderful people who were heading up and decided to go too, might as well, I was already half way there. My feet were swollen for about 3 days after but it was definitely worth it.
Breathtaking place and beautiful drive with lots of waterfalls. The road is tiny but drivable.
The River is beautiful , staff great.
My daughter 10 years and i were having driving πout sprees. The road is in repair progress promising comfortable driving πin the early future.
Very very very beautiful place but too cold for me
It was excellent, the resort is nice for relaxation, the staff is well trained, they know what customer service is, the food was good as well. I loved the entertainment, I would return for another vacation.
Sweet serene. Majestic mountains, clean crisp air.... Natures finest. Its truly an experience to be had.
Away been a GREAT place to go to get away from the city .... re-connect with nature. Love it !!
The Blue Mountains was an amazing experience! My family is from Portland and it was the first visit I have had there. It is well worth the experience and getting fresh ground coffee. We took great pictures on the mountain.
Its safe to say this one of the closest ways you can feel heaven on earth, at least in Jamaica(The views!! . There are many trails, untouched and protected natural nature parks, rivers, animals etc. There are also coffee farms nearby. You can rent cabins which have all you need to live comfortably (once youre self sufficient). The staff is super friendly! Also, the air quality is exceptional!! I would highly recommend here for family, friends and people looking for a clean, cool calm adventure!
Its so beautiful all around. Youre surrounded by nothing but lush green trees decorated with a variety of beautiful flowers. The sounds of the birds chirping, the trees swaying in the wind and music of the bamboo all makes it so peaceful and relaxing. To top it off, the air is clean and fresh. Mix this with the jaw dropping views and you get paradise!
Second trip and planning to go back soon. Love the staff they are helpful and courteous ππΎ. Lovely family getaway.
The view was absolutely beautiful and so was the atmosphere. The hike up was pretty long though and kind of hard on the feet if breaks arent taken so for asthmatic persons, I recommend carrying your pumps. Otherwise ut was clean, laid back, peaceful and natural as it can be. Id go again if my legs didnt hurt so much πΉπ
If you love outdoors, this place is awesome. Very scenic and serene.
It was beautiful scenery with luscious plant life and cool crisp fresh air.
Beautiful breathtaking views all round.....cabins with firw place and piped hot water. Hiking trails that lead to a waterfall. Camp sites and outdoor fireside....gazebos for groups who want to just do a day out. A small museum is on site and this is a wonderful location for nature lovers, bird watchers and persons interested in fauna...dirt and and trail bike trails are also available.
Breathtaking views. Clean air and great food. Hike to your hearts content.
A great spot for a nature walk. Good for camping, cookouts. About an hour from Papine. Check out the cabins. A 4x4 is strongly recommended for all driving within the camp site.
Breathtaking πβ€οΈIf I lived in Jamaica I would come here often and trail these mountains π»
Wow. Amazing! The journey to get there was long but worth it. The environment, the beautiful nature, the cozy settings, gazebos scattered across the compound to facilitate a sense of privacy among groups, and neatly placed nature trails that are not difficult to trek. The plants are the most beautiful shades one can find as the colours are rich/bright. Take food, prepare to walk, and have fun! I hope to return soon.
Pretty easy 14Km trail for beginners a few obstacle points easily mastered by a single step forward... Breath taking scenic view of the hills of St Andrew and a tranquil forest canopy that brings about peace for the nature lovers. Some of the pathways were lit with the soft morning sunshine and the fresh smell of the trees and forest earth may take you to Utopia.
The view is breathtaking, amazing. The hike was extremely difficult. We started our journey from Whitefield hall @ 1:30am, it took us 8 hours to get to the peak. We did it without a guide, which is not the smartest thing to do. We went the wrong way twice, hence it took us 8hrs to the peak. Hiking up blue mountain peak was something I always wanted to do as a child. I had placed this hike high on my bucket list. Honestly, there were times o wanted to quit, but my friend kept pushing and encouraging. There was a lot of "all most there" Lol. We did it!
We spent a nice night and day at Holywell in one of the cabins and it was sweet. We had a fire in the fireplace and coffee in the morning. The roads are a bit rough there, but you will be used to rough road by the time you get there. There are lovely views of Kingston and otherwise and the vast variety of the plants is very special. There are a lot of nice things going on up there in regards to environmental awareness. A truly special place! I
We took the route through Chepstow community, we went up by Marley coffe plantation and hike from there. The scenery is very beautiful and the trek is a bit rough so wear comfortable shoes and walk with insect repellent. The river is lovely and some part is a bit strong and cold. You can take your own food or cook on the river side like what we did.
The scenery, pure unpolluted oxygen, harmonious vocal comradery of diverse species of birds, naturally fertilized fruits that appeal to choicest taste buds and the alternate impact of sunshine and wind that acts as a means of natural temperature control.
Othentic Jamaican experience.Get out of your resort, and drive up there. You wont regret it. The view is amazing, the coffee is great. The wether is cool and refreshing. Here you can really feel the Island, viewing the ocean 360, up in the hills.
The experience was fun. Dont forget your sweater though
Did the Blue Mountain Bicycle tour and it was AMAZING!!! ATTENTIVE STAFF! FOOD! VIEWS! BEST WAY TO RIDE THE BLUES!!! BLUE MOUNTAIN BICYCLE TOURS
The Hike! An Experience I think everyone should try to have at least once in their lifetime. Such an amazing atmosphere, huge contrast from the lower Kingston area from the temperatures to the plush greenery. The Hike is not only a physical challenge but also takes you on a mental journey. Definitely recommend sharing with friends. And make sure you hike to reach the sunrise, I promise youll feel a change upon viewing that scape of beauty. Definitely a gem in crown of Jamaican Experiences. For the Adventurer at heart. Theyre trails of different difficulties in the area, all a unique experience of their own. Also recommend Holywell for the less physically adventurous.
Enjoyed hiking with Jamaica Hiking and Heritage Tours. Excellent guide, who was very knowledgeable
Great relaxation from the hot city. Jamaica is more than sand and beaches. A visit to the Mountains exposes a different life and culture. Holywell has a great trail, lots of birds and a great view of city. The coffee farms and local coffee hut at Section in Silver Hill is a must.
A good challenging walk, but totally worth it. Very good time away from the city. Cabins and sponges available for sleeping at Portland Gap. The peak is for the view and basking in the achievement of standing at the highest point in Jamaica.Surprisingly there was Data Service at the peak so you can snap and share your photos too.
Breathtaking views. Poorly maintained, narrow and very curvy roads going up into the mountains. Well worth the drive. We stopped at a small coffee plantation and were able to see how coffee is roasted over an open fire. Stopped to watch the military drills for a bit as well.
We visited with the Blue Mountain Bicycle tour company. The tour was fantastic. Narrow winding mountain roads made for some excitement.
Was a sight to see, you will enjoy every bit of the experience... NB: Its alot of walking for hours up hill, will be pressuring on the legs not recommended for unfit persons
