A good start to your Blue Mountains experience
Interesting. Unfortunately the nearby lookout was closed
Very friendly and good information. Go there!
This website be more detailed and helpful with updates in regards to track closures, this would help quite a lot in not being an inconvenience to people heading up and planning their day in the mountains.
Friendly helpful staff. Lots of info.
Clean amenities. Good gift shop.
Plenty of treats to buy and check out the art gallery. Close to walks. A water tap out the front to fill up before and after walks
Be good to direct people to the fairfax walk from the actual centre itself
1st class, perfect venue to celebrate a special occasion. Excellent customer service, exceptional tea, loved the detail the chef went to with the petite fours, beautiful ambience. Highly recommend
Col afternoon we dropped in for the short film. We took a breather the girls settled in for some coloring in. Great history information boards.Great staff, very helpfull.
Very helpful staff and very clean toilet facilities
Chanced upon this place on our way to Fairfax heritage walk so get a toilet break. The centre is filled with rich and interesting history of Blue mountains which kept my boys reading for more. Reception guy is really forthcoming in giving good suggestions on walks that cater to my familys interest. We totally enjoyed the walks that he recommended. Do drop by for sound advice and great information about blue mountains.
Staff were friendly and helpful with advice on what walks were open due to the weather
The Heritage Centre has posters on its walls about the local Aboriginal culture, plants, animals and the fantastic walking tracks around the Gross Valley. The centre is run by the National Parks and Wildlife service and there is a gallery, theatre and a gift shop with plenty of the Aboriginal souvenirs , clothing and books.Outside the Fairfax Heritage walking track starts.
Helpful staff and clean toilets! Good current information on what tracks are open after bush fire and flooding!
The staff were so lovely and the store has some gorgeous stuff. Theres information about the tracks & lookouts, also a public toilet.
Good for shelter during rainy weather. Not many activities or things to do, staff were unresponsive to questions.
Clean, free art exhibition, selling useful kit for the trails, good information, guides and maps. Selection of locally made gifts and souvenirs.
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity / MCS / migraine review: essential oils are sold in the heritage centre, I could not be in the building.
Well maintained and heaps of info. Friendly staff. Advised us about the Popes Glen track fully operational and we loved it. Just be mindful to start this track clockwise. Clean toilets and supersonic hand dryer. The lookout also is very well maintained which we should all respect.
Small place with local maps etc. Useful car park to start the easy path towards George Phillips Lookout and Govetts Leap through woodland. Or you can just drive down to the Govetts Leap parking area.
Absolutely AMAZING staff members.Extremely helpful. We where fixed up with a PLB in the shop, and where ready to set out backpacking.Thank you for the wonderful service.
Terrific information centre. Really well done displays and maps of the area. Beautiful video presentation that we really enjoyed. Lovely clean toilets and a well appointed gift shop. Surprisingly pleasant for an impromptu stop on our part.
Just up from Govetts Leap, a famous lookout in the Blue Mountains. The views up the valley are magnificent. A lap a stop or starting place for many amazing hikes. The centre itself is lovely with some local crafts, maps, hiking items to purchase plus a huge panoramic viewing screen of places in the Blue Mountains National Park. Best of all are the staff who can help you with questions about the area. Its less than five minutes drive from Blackheath. Its Covid safe. Its disability access is great and has good parking plus disability parking. The bathrooms are also in excellent condition. Highly recommended.
Helpful staff member Luke was very friendly and welcoming. Exhibition of photographs from the recent bushfires very nicely set out in the theatrette. Nice variety of gifts in the gift shops. Plenty of information on walks you can take in and around Govatts Leap.
Blue Mountains National Park visitors centre at Govetts Leap in Blackheath, NSW. Good bookshop and information centre. Take the time to view the excellent audiovisual display in the theatre area.
Fabulous place. Really helpful staff at the info centre. Viewed mid morning so the sun was on the bridal veil Falls. Evidence of the bushfires reminded us of how close it came to wiping out so many towns.
One of my favourite places - always spectacular- Govetts Leap lookout
Very helpful staff members! Went in to enquire about walks that were still open after the bushfires and they were happy to help provide us with info and recommendations for alternatives. The centre itself is lovely!
Very easy course of tracking is available to lookout. Parking space is a bit limited in busy time.
Wonderful team taking care of one of the scenic placesWe planned the Grand Canyon hike very last minute . When arriving at the centre we really had little information about where to start. The staff member Ebony was very knowledgeable and helpful by giving us some tips about the route and ordered a can to take us to the starting point we wanted as one of routes was closed. It was one the most enjoyable hikes I have done and you feel a sense of accomplished once you have completed the loop.
This BMHC is an amazing place. Lots to look at in regards to the bush and animals. My visit today was Art related with amazingly beautiful artwork on display. Very crowded with an excellent turnout, with heavy rain and mist. Heaps of local Blue Mountains artists and Sydney and surround artists attended.#visitbluemountains #artist #art #blackheath #katoomba #photography
Beautiful!!! The canyon was amazing ! Beautiful walk! You have many options for hike between 15 minutes to hours !!!Give it a try! They also sell beautiful natural product at the center.I’ll be back soon to see more ! 😌
Great place to visit if youre in the area.
Very good place, free parking but not many available. You gotta get there no later than 9am. Toilet, water to buy, nice service at the centre with info as to where to go, etc. Quick walk to the lookout.
Its at a very serene location.Amidst the greenery u can easily grab a cup of coffee and explore around or feel warm and cozy sitting inside watching the blue mountains presentation. The view point walk trail is nearby to this center. The lady at the center was very hospitable and nice. The mobile network isnt good. But the center provides free WiFi.You can purchase few souvenirs if you want to. But its very far from the railway station. For people new to the place and without personal vehicle its little inconvenient .May be better transportation service to the heritage center on weekends can help to improve the tourism quotient of the place.Having said that still nature lovers will love this place situated in the cute little town of Blackheath.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly providing valuable advice about the hikes. There is also free internet and they even loan personal locator beacons if you are going on one of the more advanced or remote walks
Worth a stop if your in the area doing some walks. There is great information on the walks and the region. The woman working there was extremely pleasant and helpful. I also saw an elderly couple come in to do the virtual reality canyon experience, which warmed my heart.
Well set up info centre. Lady at the desk was really friendly and helpful. The building reminded me of Ranger Headquarters from Skippy. "Whats that Skip? Sonnys stuck in the toilet?"
Claustral canyon VR show is one of the major attractions of the centre. Besides, necessary information along with a mini shop are also there. The trail routes are also valuable for the hikers. Check the timetable of public transport from there to avoid hassle while returning.
Great informative place for all info related to the magic that are the blue mountains
A nice centre to learn more about searching the blue Mountains and an easy place to get to Govett’s Leap. A must if you are trekking the mountains.
Lovely and very helpful staff. Nice information displays. Helpful maps and information sheets for the blue mountain regions for free and some more detailed ones to buy as well. You can also buy souvenirs from the region. Drinking water for free and filtered drinking water for a small fee.
People working there are so great! Very good idea to stop by when you arrive in the blue mountains !
A good stop before the decent. Can pick up a map last minute or chat to the friendly staff for some tips.
Has a great collage of stories along the walls on how the original walking tracks were built, along with photos from that era.
Walking trails map used to be free before. Now we have to pay. Customer service is good. They gave virtual reality views (X2and the necessary info for Blue mountains area. Worth a visit which makes your subsequent visit to the surrounding area worthwhile
Knowledgable and friendly staff, the shop has cute gifts and very nice artworks. Lots of info and maps available. They serve coffee and have cold drinks and some snacks. The virtual reality experience is amazing! Its very cool and fairly realistic.
Helpful staff, a nice selection souvenirs, and a genuinely helpful collection of maps and books. This visitor centre is infinitely preferable over the busier one in Katoomba, because the staff tends to have a little bit more time.
Great well priced presents, with a hot drink service. Lady on the counter very nice, great info and toilets. Worth a stop before heading to the actual view point!!! Heads up: get some sugar down you before you attempt the 15 minute walk, straight down so its straight up on the way back!!
