Placid, 1,500-plus acre park offering trails for biking & hiking, as well as fishing & more.
Great hiking trails
Really great place to enjoy the outdoors and walk the trails.
Beautiful park, lots to do..pond with fish, frogs turtles, etc. A couple creeks..great place for nature walks, picnics, etc. theres a playground and regular bathrooms.
Had a great day here in Peekskill. This place has so many awesome clearly marked trails. I was charged 10 dollars for parking for not having county park pass. If you have a Westchester County Pass you are charged 5 bucks.
Great place to hang out, BBQ hike, fish. Plenty of family fun
Amazing place and free to use bbq grills + tables. Lake is also Amazing. Give it a try ,is worth it.
Good times with some great people.Archery range improvements are really done well. Instructors are helpful and prices are not terrible.
Awesome bike trails. Would recommend going during weekdays. Weekends and Holidays you may have to pay a small fee to enter.
Driven by peekskill for 35 years. Never knew this gem was there. Fabulous place
Really great park for hiking! I took the blue mountain peak trail, found it moderate difficulty which was fabulous. 1 hour to the top. 2.5 hours total if you take a large loop back.Overall really beautiful park, lots of great trails, very clean.
Great trails, and nice scenery. Everyone I have encountered has been friendly and polite.
This would be a nice place for a hike, except that adjacent to it is a gun range. Makes it sound like youre in a war zone. Cant believe the local politicians in Cortlandt are OK with this.
Great mix of mountain biking trails! A lot more technical stuff than I was expecting, even some appropriately rated back diamond. I wouldnt recommend it to be the first place you ever try mountain biking, but its great for leveling up on your rock skills.
Beautiful mountain with amazing trails of various difficulties. I went hiking with my girlfriend, and we both very much enjoyed it! We will be going back soon!
Nice park, but the trails are a bit difficult to traverse during fall/winter. Leaves cover a lot of rocks and makes it hard to judge foot placement.
Nice park. Hilly. Hike with elevation.
Great place to take family members young or old when you just want to take a relaxing stroll in nature. Hiking trails are on the easy end of the spectrum. There are trails for mountain biking as well. Never crowded. The only con was that the bathrooms were closed when we went. Only porta johns were available.
This is a great place to hike, especially during the week, when you have the place almost all to yourself. Works best to have hiking shoes (lots of rocks). Climbs are not too steep, at least from the trails Ive seen. The Dickey Brook trail has a nice waterfall.
Place is serene, I expected it to be packed on a Saturday afternoon, to my surprise it was quite empty. Bring long pants and long sleeves, mosquitoes are on the annoying side. Theres plenty of picnic areas and tables spread across the park area and around the playground. I did the yellow/orange trail with wife and kid, it was okay, but a little too solitary and too quiet, which was kinda my fault, as it was past 5:30pm. Aside from that, I see myself coming here regularly, perfect for some quiet time, be it alone or accompanied, for reading a book, drawing, or meditating.
Great for hiking and mountain biking, loved by locals and travelers alike
Beautiful park that offers a great day for families. There are playing fields; hiking trails; picnic areas; beautiful lakes with ducks and geese. If youre into photography there are excellent nature shots. Parking is available in various places, and its not a big walk from Metro North Station. Town of Peekskill by the Metro North Station has some very nice restaurants, and the park on the Hudson is very nice.
For a secluded retreat, consider an early morning hike. Trials offer an engaging hike away from the crowds of nearby alternatives... Seems to be a favorite among the locals... Bring big spray, mosquitoes can be treacherous
This park is filled with trails as well as lots of space to grill and chill. Week days it is quiet and have plenty space to relax and enjoy a good book, go for a stroll etc. Weekends the park is filled with families grilling, hiking, playing games, bird watching etc. Its a great place to hang out alone, as a couple or with family and friends.
Recently hiked the blue mountain summit loop. No issues with trail markers. Easy to medium difficulty. Saw a few young kids on the trail. Great to do with family. Would recommend
Really easy trails. 1 hour from New York City. Nice with kids or pets. Not crowded
Some good trails for hiking, walking or biking. Difficulty 3/10 to the summit.Blazes & Trail clearing could use more work, especially with the number of branching trails on top of each other
Great hiking area, multiple trails and easy to navigate~
Beautiful in fall. Swings for kids. Very safe. Lot of picnic areas. Benches and grills. Abundant parking. Not many people. Social distancing. Worth spending a day with kiddos. Lake view.
We had a great time hiking up to the top! My only criticism would be that the trails are not super clear or marked. We get turned around a couple of times but it ended up being a great chance to chat, so no biggie! Here is our, we made it back to the parking lot shot.
Beautiful woods and rock formations, and some nice trails, but if youre looking to have a relaxing nature experience, give it up. There is constant, loud gunshot noise echoing everywhere. Not sure why anyone would want to go to the woods feeling like youre in a war zone. If you want to hike, make sure you go when the gun range is closed. The main trails were fairly well marked but the side trails were hard to follow in the leaves.
Lots of different trails to choose from. One of the trails along the outside is really long and some of the trail markers aren’t as visible so you might get lost. But the trail should seem a little obvious which way to go
Absolutely beautiful trails. Well maintained and easy to follow. But Beware: I encountered 12 different dogs and not a SINGLE ONE was on leash. As I ran to the parking lot I saw a dogfight by two off-leash dogs. Would not bring children or anyone afraid of aggressive dogs.
Came to take a hike on Labor Day! Very quiet. Not crowded at all! Some tables were available by the parking area to have lunch. No bathrooms, only porter potties. Entrance fee so make sure to have cash for parking. The very top of the mountain wasnt that fascinating and the signs were lacking. We got lost a few times and ended up walking way more than needed. An AWESOME workout for anyone looking for a killer hike. Boy we were tired and thirsty! Make sure to bring plenty of water to keep hydrated and good hiking shoes.Overall it was tired but pleasant. Good 1 hr or so away from the city.
It was a nice large park with picnic tables, lots of trees and a beautiful lake. There are grills for BBQing and a playground for kids.
Very nice place to hike or have a picnic with the family. Get here early, gets crowded quick on the weekends.
Hiking, and biking trails. Two mountains to climb. Mushroom forage, dog are welcome. Can rent out horse to roam the trails. No motorized vehicle are allowed on trails ( will scare animalsalso fishing is allowedPicture is entrance to the Sportman Center, where theres long and small bores, 3d archery and a few others.
Great escape from NYC right along the Hudson Metro North Line. Lots of crisscrossing hiking and biking trails and pet friendly. Dont expect any great vistas as the hills dont reach high enough above the trees, but the woods are beautiful in their own right. We went in the early morning right at park opening and had most of the trails to ourselves; by 10:00-10:30 a lot of mountain bikers had arrived but the trails are wide enough to accommodate passers-by and everyone is friendly. Also a great picnic and playground area for families or groups looking to spend some time outdoors but not necessarily hike.
Great trail totalling ~3 or 4 miles out and back, safe footing, forest cover.
Very scenic and secluded park. I didnt find more than half a dozen people in this huge park. Very good for vloggers who would want to have a quiet time away from the city to shoot. This park serves everyone. It has tables, benches, barbecue, playground for children etc. We spent a couple of hours and it was blissful.
Lovely place with tons of easy trails.
Great spot for a hike or mountain bike ride. Good variable of trails though I wish that the trails had better markings and way finding. If you havent visited before grab a map before you head out. There are something like 20 miles of trails but you can string together any length of a hike. Trails arent to strenuous but the footing is often uneven.
This place was great! Free admission and parking and so much to do with the kids!!! Bouncy house ($5 for 3 tickets), horse rides ($4), magic show, storytelling, etc. I went with my 2 and 4 year old and the had a blast!
Perfect hike for all levels. Stop by various restaurants and/or the brewery in Peekskill after! Perfect day trip from NYC. Take the Hudson line north from grand central or 125th.
The hike to the "peak" kinda stunk, there was not a spectacular view you would expect. Plus, the gunshot sounds from the nearby range ruin the peacefulness of the nature.
Lovely place to visit out of the city. Lots of well marked trails
Rode with a couple of friends for my first time at the park. Can zoom around and enjoy the beautiful scenery on well maintained trails. Will be back again to do a little climbing and taking in beautiful sites and sounds of nature.
A beautiful place, very clean forest, interesting rock formations, a hikers dream!
Great park with great views clean my kids love playing here
Great park. Beautiful. Trails, hiking, and activities are everywhere. The statue is of Walt Whitman, in which you are met at the beginning of the Bear Mountain Zoo. One of the paths you can take is a breath taking view looking down the Hudson River Valley underneath the Bear Mountain Bridge.
Awesome out door range in Westchester county where you can shoot pistols, trap, skeet, shotguns, rifles and Bows as well. The range officers are very attentive and helpful too.
