Blue Gate - Tourist attraction in Taza, Morocco
It’s blue on one side and green on the other. It’s also the starting point of a very nice street market.
Impossible to miss it in Fez, walk down this street and you will reach the Madrasa and the University.Looks great for pictures.
Nice gate into the median of fes. However, beware of the scammer and “tour guide” approaching.
Beautiful gate. Blue on one side, green on the other.
Its fine for a quick visit since it is located pretty central. Dont expect too much though, its nice for a picture but dont plan to spend more than 20 minutes tops.
the Main entrance of the Old Medina In Fez known as the Blue gate
Its ok, but nothing special compared with other cities attractions in Morocco
Good place to feel local environment. Plenty of movement at late afternoon/dinner time. Restaurant options nearby. Places to buy basic grosseries at late hours.
Very nice place. Its being renovated now (the buildings in front of the gates are removed, therell be a nice garden and a big parking place underneath (14-aug-2022)
Beautiful arhitecture, it’s not a spectaculos however it’s a big entry in the old town of Fes.
Our dinner was amazing and the hosts were super nice. Definitely recommend if you want to taste morrocan food with an incredible view at the terrace.
Great architecture, many gift shops and places to eat.
The main entrance to the old city. This is where we entered the city at night. It was quite safe even then. There is public parking nearby.
The area around the blue gate, one of the 14th doors of Fes, is amazing. Many streets of markets and local pieces of art.
Nice and famous Blue Gate, the entrance of the medieval Medina
An original and old place. I love it🤎
Its a beautiful gate to the medina, a grand entrance. Very tipical architecture and design.
We love to go to the old medina whenever we visit the city of Fes. Our favorite gate to enter is the blue gate
Nice gate ,one site blue the other green dont let you fish from the Lokal guides for money,Google maps work fine ...After that the soukes waiting for you 😏
Top, good experience... I loved this city
Food in the Madina was nice, shame there isnt many other places to eat.Not very keen on the constant hassling of the people who try to take you away and offer to help. Please let me get along with my own day.
It’s a blue gate, what else do you expect lol
This is basically the famous gate in Medina. This gate is the entrance to never ending bazaar in the old city fo Fez. From souvenir to delights, restaurants, veggies and meat market. They have everything here.If you like to explore this is the definitely the gate to everything.Enjoy!😉
One of the wonderful historical monuments in Fez
The gate is nice although be prepared to be approached by a different individual (inviting you into a restaurant/shop, to a tour etcfor every step you take. Best to go early in the morning for a chance to view in relative peace unless you are looking for that ‘rush’.
Surprisingly a lot of cafes were open considering we came during the ramadan. A lot of the natives speak English and were very friendly.
Pretty gate at the entrance of the Medina. Bab Boujeloud (The Blue Gateis worth a picture or two. Behind it lies the (friendlychaos of the Medina.
Its one of the many beautiful gates entering the old medina of Fez. Great places to savour local food around this area as well as enjoy tea on numerous rooftop terraces to enjoy the medina.
HIRE A TOUR-GUIDE IF YOU HAVE A BABY. or don’t go to the blue gate more than once😂. On the first night we arrived in the late afternoon, we wanted to just explore but stay close. We went by the blue gate…. I would say 3 times and were incessantly hounded to have tea and to hire a guide over and over and over again. So much so I wanted to leave…and just stay in the hotel. It wasn’t after we hired Ahmed who was born and raised in the Medina… when he was next to us NO ONE tried to ‘help us’ or even asked us to buy anything.
A beutiful monument and sacred gate, in contrast to the building work and busy shopping area..
Beautiful gate! Definitely worth stopping by when visiting the old medina! After you visit make sure you stop by one of the local shops for that delicious mint tea!
The tour in to the medina is best started at this gate. There s an atm machine at left side and policestation at the other side.
Blue gate becomes tourists attraction. One of the major gate that was built in 1913. Behind the gate you will discover Moroccan history. And, you will see arts and crafts, food and fun shopping here. Fascinating local market with lots of local products. Affordable prices. I was very excited and had a good time, so much fun here. However, mind your wallet. It crowded here.
On the west side of the Old medina you will find the blue gate - blue is the color of the city of Fes. It is a beautiful gate covered with blue mosaic. the gate was built on 1913 and the view when entering is amazing and you will immediately notice the green tower of the mosque belong to the Bou Inania Madrasa (a place to visit by itself)While passing the gate you will pass to a different era. A crowded alleys full pf pedestrians (no cars are allowed restaurants, bakeries with typical moroccan sweets, spices and souvenirs. There are also many small Booths selling typical grilled meat.
The blue gate (a historical placeone of the many entrance to the souk (markets of Fes). The walled city of Fes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and will transport you back to mediaeval times. Visiting the ancient maze like Medina of Fes el-Bali and the four imposing Gates of Fes is quite an experience.
Old town Fes is the world’s largest city without cars. All you see are donkeys and carts, small alleyways and traditional houses. Love the ambience and vibes here. Main streets can be quite touristy with touts but people are friendly when you decline. Go off to the side alleys and explore! It’s amazing to see little bakeries, spice shops, and more. At night it transforms into local night market that stretches for miles selling bread and kaftar clothes. An eye opening experience to see the life of Moroccans indeed!Blue gate is a central meeting/dropoff spot, quite bustling and crowded with people every time of the day. Quite dirty though and not that beautiful up close. But still an iconic place. Beware of the scammers / “guides” who approach you. Taxis here will cost you around 20-30 dhs.
Main entrance to Fes Medina. Great photo opportunities. Nice places to eat. Seems to have fewer touts and hassle merchants than elsewhere in the Medina.
Our guide let us enter the old city from here, then a whole day in the Medina followed. One side is blue and the other one green, this is the main feature, in addition to the various Moroccan ornaments.I recommend to enter from here the old historic Medina.
Beautiful gate, many tourists and many beggars, especially older ladies. Also many young guys at the cafe across cat calling girls coming out of blue gate to the street. Had delicious and cheap local lunch inside of the gate
Great experience if you want a safe square surrounded by nice local coffeeshop and restaurants. Theres also lots of shops around to shop. I recommend it if you want a local experience.
Actually the traders in Fes are not too pushy as compared with other cities ex. Cairo. Just tell them no and they will leave you alone. But the worst experience in Fez would be the street kids who are everywhere to tell the tourists the wrong directions in order to make money by helping us to get back to the correct direction later. They are NOT dangerous and harmless, just annoying.
The blue gate is the signature of Fes. Where you head down to the old Medina from here to see all the shops, cafes and all the hustles and bustles. If you are solo, pay attention to all of your belongings. The shop keepers are very pushy to make a sale just don’t let them suck you into it. If you don’t like it, just say no and keep walking. If you really want to make a purchase, it’s the time to test your bargaining skills. Down the medina there is the world’s oldest university. It’s a fun place to walk around and on your way back it will be a bit of a hike up. Other than that have fun!
This was amazing and scary at the same time.. you have to be ready to walk and walk and hike... Not for the short of breath person need good walking shoes. Stayed in a 700 year old place.
Blue gate on its own its nothing too exciting but once you go inside Medina through gate you will go back few centuries to a very lively place where you can get some of the freshest fruits, get some great sandwiches for 20mad and enjoy craft work you would not see anywhere else.
Explore all day. Get lost, get a juice for 10dh, get a sandwich for 10dh, get lost again, buy some argan oil, visit the tannery, check out some rugs, get some mint tea, try come candy, check out the leather and pretty pottery. All the prices are negotiable. Have fun
Nice photo spots. Setting is even better amidst the setting sun. The road on the side leads to some Jewish shops that are specialised in selling wedding related decorations. Guards are on the alert at all times to stop people taking photos of the entrance they are guarding.
One of the most touristic entrance to the Medina from the uptown, with a lot of cheap and affordable restaurants around, the way leaves through the butcher district, hundreds of souvenir stands on the street, near to the gate youll find some really cool places like Clock Cafe and restaurant or there is a super new vegetarian fast food place called Veggie pausa. If you continue straight you will reach the lower parts of the Medina or the tanners terrace. Better take a guide during late nights (you could ask for it in the restaurant you have dinnerand on Fridays night, as Friday all the shops are closed in the Medina.
Probably the most ornate entry gate in fez out of the 14 entry gates 1 side blue other side green if u into architecture and things like that is ok but nothing much to shout about it’s a gate if u in morroco you will see same types of construction almost everywhere
Blue Gate is the most iconic place in Fes. You have to pass by it since it’s the entering to Medina and the actual start of the Fes experience. Entering the Blue Gate, you basically get the experience of Fes, the local stores, the negociation of the prices and the area of Medina.
Interesting site to see. It is a main entrance to the Medina and winding streets of the market. There are some really good restaurants and places nearby.
