Blue Door Pub — Lyn-Lake - Hamburger restaurant in Lakeville, United States
We had lunch with our family on a Saturday a while back. Drinks were 2 for 1. The burgers were one phenomenal, as always.
The food here is decent, they do not allow you to customize orders. I had the Juicy Lucy with the ghost pepper cheddar and was denied an extra slice. Why deny me of the cheese? This deprivation of pepper infused dairy made me sad.
The place was cool but our server was ridiculous. It’d be too cliche to write about what was done poorly by her so I won’t write much. What I will say tho is that instead of remembering to bring our lemons to the table, Annie was too busy taking shots with random customers. 130am CST March1st to be exact; just in case management wants to pull up cameras.
One of the eateries offering stuffed burgers of high quality. We had the islander with tots and latin kisses to start. Both were tasty and would eat again. The burgers are on the smaller side if you are expecting a big patty.
This place is generally pretty good but its getting five stars because of the waitress Anna who is awesome. They have Burgers full of blue cheese similar to Juicy Lucys but they call them blucys (blue seas). Beer selection is solid and prices are reasonable. Anna is the best :-tip her well or Karma will come back to haunt you.
Really cool spot with a great ambiance. They have a nice beer selection and menu full of stuffed "Juicy Lucy" style burgers. I had one that was based on a Swedish meatball and it was delicious. I definitely recommend a stop by the Blue Door Pub.
Great Happy Hour deals and some seriously delicious tots. Come for Blucy burgers, stay for the relatively good tap beer selection and incredibly reasonably priced cocktails. Worth the visit for the Cajun Tots alone.
The food here is just amazing if you are looking for a good burger or wings. The different options for burgers has something for everyone, including a black bean burger for the non-meat eaters. Service was friendly and attentive. Well definitely be back.
I have a peanut allergy which has never been an issue at any of the other Blue Door locations. Theyre always super accommodating and make an honest effort to safely serve me (using a clean surface and utensils, etc.). I understand there is always a risk for me at places with peanut butter on the menu and that if something were to happen, it would be MY responsibility since I took the risk. Typically restaurants DO make an effort to safely serve me while warning me there is always a risk. So far, Ive never had an issue. For some reason this location wouldnt even make an effort. When I told them about my allergy the manager basically told me there was peanut butter all over the kitchen and he recommended that I dont eat here at all. Again, this is the first time this has ever happened to me.Id be more understanding if we came in on a super busy night, but it was the middle of the day and didnt seem all that busy. Would it really have been that hard to wipe down a couple surfaces and use clean utensils? The bartender/server was incredibly sweet so we each had a beer before we ended up leaving very hungry and disappointed.
I really liked this place until a bad experience regarding an over charge to my credit card.Somehow my bill was roughly doubled. Blue Door reversed half of the charge still resulting in me paying more. Also, Ive had two burgers here; each was dry and overcooked.
When this location first opened I was underwhelmed. The burgers were not as good as the other locations and while their tots are excellent, sometimes you just want some fries. After multiple visits the food is up to snuff *and* they now have fries. New fav location! #FullBarToo
Experience exceeded expectations, which were already high. I felt that I should go there and the universe was right. Wanted delicious burger at the bar. Excellent food and service. Saw 4 red flannel shirts within 45 minutes.
Great food and service! I had the Cease and Desist burger and it was really good! We also got tater tots and fried green beans which were also delicious.
The "Blucy" didnt live up to its hype. Just another burger, nothing special. Matter of fact it has less taste than any other burger. The fried curds were more batter than curd. But the batter was tasty. All in all not impressed.
Usually love going to the restaurant and getting the blucys but this time decided to use a delivery app. This had to of been the worst burger I’ve even ate, for being the blucuvious there was no cheese in the burger and way over cooked and dry. Love the restaurant but never order delivery.
Nice service, didnt eat the food but I had a drink that wasnt the best. The name eluded me but it was like a dessert that I rather not have had. However Ill return again to try out the menu, the food smells nice. And the atmosphere is a vibe, the seating in the back is definitely intimate and European.
I like this BDP better than the other locations. Maybe thats just because its closer to me.. Or maybe its because they have a full bar. Probably the full bar but the burgers are bomb either way
The burgers we had here were absolutely amazing. We had come the night before, a Saturday night, and it wasnt too crowded. They were happy to serve us, and we struck up great conversations with the bartenders on duty. Wonderful people and great service. Excited to be back soon!
Maybe it was because it was Tuesday, maybe because just before happy hour ended, or maybe because a few people were having a bad day. Idk. The 2 servers who served our food were terrible. The waitress had 2 tables, set us down quickly, rushed us into beer selection when she knew it was coming time for the system to close. She should’ve been there or asked us immediately when sat. Blue Door is typically a “spot” that doesn’t disappoint. But tonight, the beer, the burger Bluesy was overdone, my tots were good, but the service was sour and forgot 3/5 things, took way too long, albeit before rush so maybe under staff. I blame management and as a server you have to serve well. And they didn’t, they scoffed when my brother said just forgot the mayonnaise. He was clueless or she didn’t tell him. Idk. What happened tonight? We don’t want to come back.
I am from out of town and was brought to the Blue Door by a friend. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. The food was great and the service was fantastic. I was in town on business and forgot to save my receipt, but a quick call the next morning and the manager emailed me a copy.
They always have the best tots! Great burgers. Wing quality has gone down quite a bit over the years.. Other locations are better, this one is simply too small and has no parking.
The appetizers here are amazing. Hands down the BEST cheese curds and deep fried pickles I have ever had. They literally put the State Fair to shame. The service is awesome, the food in incredible, location in Uptown is perfect, what more do you need? Dont miss out.
Awesome! The fried pickles, green beans, wings and jucy Lucy were all outta sight!
Got the Mount Blucuvious and it was amazing. I loved the bacon on there, and the ghost pepper cheese oozed out of the burger. The fried avocado was also pretty good on top along with the tots.
Blue Door as a chain has some of the best burgers in town without a doubt. This location in particular has the best happy hour out of all of them. This location is one of the smaller ones and its pretty popular so they fill up pretty quick, but well worth it.
Just got back from eating there, everything was average, burgers were actually slightly burned. Staff was very friendly, but the food was nothing special, if you need a place to grab a beer okay, but there are much better places to eat in Minneapolis.
This is one of the hidden gems of uptown, completely without pretentiousness while still serving breathtaking comfort food. The service is unmatched, bartenders Katie, Ryan, and Jessica will make sure you are satisfied. The food is surprisingly wonderful and youll always have a good time.
Our favorite stop, especially for Happy Hour! Sunday evening are usually less busy, otherwise plan on going a little later in the evening for quick seating. Yummy burgers and great taps. What could be better?
If you like jalapeno poppers, their Latin kisses take it to a whole new level of delicious. Burgers are always excellent, and their deep fried pickles, cheese curds, and green beans are as good if not better than what you can get at the State Fair. (Theyre cheaper too!)
We had the DFC chicken wings and split the original blucy burger. Food was fantastic, wings were large with a very lite breading. And the burger was a taste sensation. Our bar server was “Emily” and the perfect host. She even ran us down when I forgot my glasses on the bar. I definitely will recommend this location to my out of town friends.
Fantastic food, fantastic service, will definitely be back. Pictured is the special "Lumberjack Burger", amazing. Great portion sizes for a spectacular price!
This is not the best location to go to if you want to experience blue door pub. I would not recommend coming here in the winter.parking is non existent in this area so expect to walk from 6 blocks or more. They also leave the back door open during 10 degree weather; my daughter and son were freezing/shivering the entire meal. They also do not have fries at this location but if you are feeling like strolling down memory lane to when you were in high school they have tater tots. I had the peanut butter burger it was good but the flavor might have been enhanced by adding the lindenberry sauce or a spicy jam. My wife had her usual of the mount blucuvious. She said it was not as good as the Selby locations. We will stick to our main location from now on.
The burgers are above average but could use a little more flavor. The crunchy tater tots are a nice alternative to your typical fries.
Omg! We went there on a recommendation of a friend and it was awesome! We had to wait a bit but then was seated and the real treat was the food! We each had a jucy Lucy side and a drink. The beer was great a pilsner that was on happy hour! The fried green beans was a real treat! Great food, great company and awesome service a memorable night!
I went to Blue Door Pub for a few drinks and an appetizer on a Friday night. It was pretty packed, but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The beer selection was pretty good, and it looks like theyve got a pretty great happy hour. Our bar tender was very nice and we asked her for an appetizer recommendation. She suggested we (spice-loving peopleget the spicy cheese curds. Wow. Theyre surprisingly really hot. We couldnt eat the whole thing - and we eat a lot of very spicy foods. Overall, we liked the vibe and will probably be back to try a burger.
Loved this place as Sportsmans (is that what it was called?back in the day, then the Country Bar, and now Blue Door! And the best part is they have happy hour on Sundays 2-close! Fills the void leftover from no weekend happy hour at the Longfellow location. Only 6 taps but usually have Castle Danger Cream Ale or Farm Girl.
Great wings! Really good cheese curds. Very friendly staff provided us with recommendations and the service was quite fast. Had the bone-in Buffalo and Smoky Bandit wings. Mild heat on the Buffalo was perfect for me (you can ask for scary if you want them hotter). Smoky Bandit had a bit too much excess spice rub on them, great flavor but was a bit grainy biting through the excess. Would have the Buffalo again and try others next time. You can mix two kinds and can also get boneless. Id recommend their wings over their burgers anyday.
Came here with some friends because I was craving their Cajun tots. Server was very helpful with our many questions. Mount Blucuvious burger was delicious, as was the peanut butter burger. I got their buffalo chicken wings. You can order these extra spicy, which means a lot to me. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. One of the owners even spent some time talking to us about sauces and such. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
There was no cheese inside the BLucy we order, we assume it melted as it was well done. The burger meat was still great, and its one of the bests Ive had. Not a fan of tots, so got green beans instead, they were okay. And the hot cheese curds were really good.
When you’re in the LynLake neighborhood of uptown Minneapolis, you must try the Mount Blucuvious burger at the Blue Door Pub. Stuffed burgers your thing? Well this is the ultimate in stuffed burgers. This particular burger is stuffed with ghost pepper cheese and spicy bacon, topped with fried avocado and cilantro-lime sauce(I added toms, onions and lettuce). It’s packed with unforgettable flavor and easily a top 3 burger for me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
A group of us eat there on a Saturday night around 9:30. The food was great. I didnt hear any complaints on the food. I has the Bacon Blucy which was fantastic. We sat out on the back patio. The service was friendly, but seemed slow. They store the empty kegs on the patio which is unfortunate because I sat right next to them.Prices: You can get a burger and side for under $20
Really good fried pickles and cheese curds. I had wings and they were tasty - really solid flavor selection. The wine/beer menu is pretty small but decent local offerings.
The burgers are OKAY. We were in town for a business trip and from California. If you like an over cooked burger, then this place is for you. Also, when youve been to amazing grass fed burger places in California, nothing else can really compare. The tater tots are one of the best Ive ever had though. The cheese curds are also really yummy.Apparently the beers are really good as well; however we were starving when we walked in and all we could think of at that moment was food.
Im totally a fan of Blue Door, and their newer spot is pretty great. We enjoyed the outdoor seating along the street and there is a bit more on the patio out back. Happy hour burger, beer and tots for $9 was a steal as well especially with additional HH beers being only $3. My one issue knocking this locations review down a star is that they dont have the full menu. I totally understand, the kitchen is the size of a shoebox, but I miss the horsekick blucey. Oh well, with the happy hour deal hey have, I would be able to justify splurging on that burger anyways.
So happy to finally have one right in the neighborhood. I remember hearing a while ago they were moving in but it completely fell off my radar and I only noticed last week. Burgers are great there just like the other locations, good daily deals and happy hours. Ive been in there twice now and service and speed of the kitchen were great both times. I look forward to going back more.
Really good burgers, totchos, and tater tots. Decent drink selection. Wheel chair accessible. Gluten free available. Got the Lyn-laker. Very good great service. Cheese curds were good, not overly greasy. Would return for sure.
Honestly, while I love the Blue Door, I feel like this venue is a little small for the type of place that the Blue Door is. Because its in Uptown, and the restaurant is so small relatively, expect at least a 30 minute wait during any time that could be considered popular. This also leads the service to be a bit lacking as the servers are constantly busy. Other than that, the food is the same great Blue Door that Im used to. If you cant make it out to Longfellow, this place will do just fine.
I wanted to love this because I love the other locations, but this one does not at all live up to the Blue Door reputation. We got a couple Blucys, tots (a Blue Door must), and wings, and everything was way below average. The menu here is also extremely limited compared to other locations. If have the time and ambition, head to St. Paul instead.
This is my go-to restaurant to recommend to friends and family who are new to the Cities. I have been to their locations 20+ times (theres a punch cardand have never met a Blucy I didnt like. I usually love getting the Hood Burger (which usually has jelly on itand then making it a Jiffy (adding the peanut butter and baconthus making it the best gosh darn peanut butter jelly bacon burger you never knew you needed, but this locations Hood Burger doesnt need any extras in my opinion. The marinated cucumbers on that sucker are to die for. The wings are also very good, but I usually just stick to the Blucy burgers. Cajun tots are the side of choice for me as well!
I’ve been waiting for a westside local for years! Nice move. Enjoyed the first of many!
