Blaze Pizza in Ames

Blaze Pizza is all about the experience of telling them how to make it while theyre making it. What you is a personal pizza that is good but not great. The people seem to be well trained and nice. Im usually up for Blaze Pizza every 6 months or so.

Whats not to love about spending 10 bucks to build your own pizza and have it ready in just a few minutes??!! There is some great management there bc everyone on the Blaze team was smiling and friendly.

My pickup order disappeared from the system for no reason. Waited 40 minutes and no apology.

We had delicious pizzas, pizza bread with extra cheese (my new favoriteand crispy salad while visiting with my college student and her friends. Alli was very nice and made our experience a breeze! Her customer service was top notch!! We will definitely be back again!

Never been before. Kinda confusing if you never been there before. And bunch of kids working there. Burnt my pizza for my family. Spent too much money on burnt pizza and drinks (fountain drinks not bottled drinks the only nice thing was the cashier was teaching a new guy how to do their job and he was super nice to him and patient.

In what world is this salad worth $8.50. Could’ve at least put some tomatoes on there.

Great taste and fast service. Very clean and well stocked. They have updated their menu so pay attention when ordering.

Some of the best gluten free pizza. Also everything is fresh and good. Love the blood orange lemonade.

A fun build your own pizza joint placed nicely along Lincoln way for college foot traffic to utilize. Quick fast fired pizzas that didnt taste too heavy or anything. Hot link was the perfect spice level for me.

Got the cauli GF crust. Very good! Tastes like real pizza.

I just got a sodie pop so I cant comment on the food. I got one of them cokes in a glass bottle and it was pretty tasty!

I really enjoy their fast fire oven pizzas! Parking is limited but understandable considering it’s so close to campus. Hidden gems are their deserts! You should probably try the s’mores cookie sandwich next time you are in there.

The employees were very helpful and accommodating!I felt my children were treated with utmost respect, their requests were not ignored in the least.I like the personalization by calling customer names instead of numbers when the crisp thin crust Zas are ready to enjoy.

Pizza was very good - thin and flavor packed, with a perfect crust crunch. However, the cheese sticks seemed quite a bit heavy on the bread side. So watch for that, unless you like it that way.

I have a love-hate relationship with this restaurant. I love it because they are one of the only places in town that I can find that offers a vegan and gluten-free option and for my family, thats a necessity. However, it is always impossible to place an order through online or via the phone, which means I need to trek 20 minutes into town to place an order and then stand there and wait another 20 minutes while they make it. Its super irritating. The app doesnt work, the online ordering doesnt work, and if you call on the phone it directs you to the website or just cuts the line if you attempt to use the order through a person over the phone option. Im just about to throw the towel in with this place and quit trying.

Pleasantly surprised. As a quick build-your-pizza place, I was expecting low to mid quality with a generic taste. What I got was a small 10in pie that had good flavor with quality ingredients. Customer service was quick but not overly friendly. Its a solid 4 and you wont go wrong going here for a quick pizza. (5th star is for quality authentic pizza shops with unique flavor)

I tried the cauliflower crust and it was really good (I wouldnt have known it was cauliflower if someone put it blindly in front of me). The toppings are fresh and tasty, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The cheese bread is much better than the dough knots in my opinion (thanks to the employee who recommended that - I agree:). The Smores, although a little pricey, were totally worth it.

Lovely pizza! I had the chorizo and bacon pizza with arugula and it was very well made. I actually decided to try Blaze for their cheese bread, but found that to be comparable to cheese bread from other pizza places. I expected it to stand out since I was drawn to it via an article I had read where the author raved about it. Given the initial hype, the cheese bread was a bit of a let down for me personally. The pizza however, *chefs kiss* The crust was just the right blend of tasty and slightly crispy. The toppings were generous and there were way more options of sauce, toppings, and finishes to choose from than most pizza places Ive tried. I was impressed with the variety.

Blaze Pizza is fast, inexpensive and delicious! The ultimate "have it your way" pizza. I seek this pizza out wherever I travel because I know it will be consistently tasty. It has been as great in Iowa as it has in Florida and Chicago. We love this place!!

I love the Blaze on Lincoln way, but recently I was there and ordered a build your own, and the girl working used half the regular amount of dough to make mine. It was much smaller than usual and I could tell she knew but she didn’t try and redo it or give me a discount. I don’t think I’ll be eating there anymore

Very tasty with gluten free options. Good and unique toppings. Goat cheese. Chorizo Italian meatballs salami... white sauce option for base. Spicy but not too spicy red sauce base. Family favorite when picking up kid at ISU.

Great pizza. We were able to order online and do curbside pickup. They were every nice and asked us after they gave us our pizza what drink wed like. We got a couple build your own pizzas for a good deal and we tried the cheesy bread. It was all very good. The 11 inch is a good size for one person plus maybe a little extra for leftovers or snacking throughout the day. Their lemonade is awesome. Some of my favorite Ive had in a while.

Blaze is a little pricier than other pizza restaurants, however it is unique and the pizza is delicious. You get a personal pizza the way you want it. It is a great place to go with a group that cant decide on what pizza to order. The pizza is cooked quickly by flame. The desserts are very tasty, especially the brownie.

The pizza was good. However, the employees and service was absolutely terrible. Employees were yelling, and very forceful in trying to hurry us. This was our first time here and we were very confused. As we were waiting for our pizzas to cook, the guy cutting the pizza was throwing the tongs and the pizza cutters back and forth. Not only were they hitting each other, but bouncing off the plexi glass. We left very anxious and flustered. Will not be going back.

The pizza here is okay. The crust is very thin, which I’m personally not a fan of. It’s a build your own pizza type of place. You hardly have to wait for your pizza, which is nice. By the time you’re done paying, it’s about ready. However, I’ve been to Blaze Pizza several times, and on more than one occasion, my pizza was so badly burnt that I didn’t even want to eat it.

First of all, when we submit an order for curbside pickup, the whole idea is that it is CURBSIDE. The person on the phone when we called asked if we could come in. Ok... Sure. Next, we had to wait at least five minutes before finally grabbing someone to say "hey we have an order for pickup." Which we were told quite rudely our order is "over there" and pointed to an unmarked stand where multiple pizza boxes were lined up. When we asked about the salad that was ordered as well the worker didnt know which one it was! Does the order ticket not say? It would have gone a lot more smoothly if the workers would have acknowledged we where there in the first place! To end this experience, we were met with a burnt to a crisp pepperoni pizza. Do not recommend this place to anyone, save your money and go someplace else.

We took the kids for the first time in a long while because of everything being shut down. We had the best young man who was so nice and helpful. He made sure all of our food was exactly right. He brought it to our table outside because the trays were hot. He got extra napkins and condiments for us. The Ames Blaze Pizza has a wonderful employee working there that made the whole experience of dining out for the first time in a long time a great one!

Im addicted to this place. Its quick, easy, and yummy. They rotate out their drinks often and you can always count on the pizza tasting great. Ingredients are fresh and I always walk out happy. The only downside is the slightly small space.

The food was really good. I was left wanting a little more though. Based on the menu it appeared as though I was limited to two toppings on my pizza even though it was a build your own. They put a limited amount of toppings and cheese on the pizza. The flavors were all there though. The house root beer option is really good. Restaurant appearance was clean and relatively orderly. If one were to have allergies to common things put on pizza, it might be a place to avoid. When they put the ingredients on my pizza, the ingredients got into about 3-4 other ingredients buckets. Parking can be challenging, but that is not uncommon for businesses in that specific area of Ames.

One of the BEST pizzas Ive ever eaten!!!! Im originally from Chicago. I now live in Georgia. There is a Pie5 pizza near me thats similar to Blaze but Blaze is soooo much better tasting. Very nice lively atmosphere. Nice customer service with smiling faces. I LOVE the open fire oven! I think that makes the BIGGEST difference between the 2. Very deep seasoning. I had the original crust sausage and pepperoni 😋. 3 WORDS......D......LISH......US!!!! Located along the Iowa State University campus. Prime location. An unusual sippy cup top for your drink cups. (no straws It was different. Your boy The RIBOLOGIST IS OUT ✌🏾

Pizza is always great and the prices good but man I have never had a good experience with the staff. Today’s experience was especially rough with one staff member on his phone for 90% of the interaction and the other slinging pizzas so haphazardly that I was wondering whether he was still half drunk from the Fourth of July. Starting to wonder who was more blazed : the staff or the pizza? Anyway nice and quick pizza but staff needs improvement. At least pretend to care

The pizza here is fantastic! They have a wide selection of toppings that are very fresh. This place can get VERY busy around lunchtime BUT, ordering using the app is a godsend and speeds up the process tremendously as opposed to waiting in the lengthy line. I eat here a couple of times a month and have never had a bad experience. The pricing is on point for a personal pizza of this quality. Thanks for reading!

Was a great find, didn’t know we had an establishment with dairy free or vegan pizza available. The best surprise, great flavor with lots of options for toppings with options for vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and the customary cheese and meat versions. As an added surprise it’s inexpensive $10 for any topping selections and options for 1/2 pizza for $5... Shared one and 1/2 was perfect. Exile Brewing products were also available.

Highly recommend Blaze to anyone who enjoys pizza. I understand its a chain and becoming more popular but there is definitely reasons that this place is beating out the competition in the over populated wood fire pizza scene.always fresh ingredients, the perfect dough recipe, and a huge variety of toppings make blaze a personal favorite. the patio is perfect for a nice summer day, and inside is just the type of atmosphere you want for a casual lunch.I always build my own and never skip on the specialty lemonades

The garlic knot things were really good. I like that the pizza is put together fresh and made to order. It tasted great, for sure. The crust doesnt get as stiff/crispy as when its baked normally versus fast fired, so my husband was a little disappointed with that. I dont mind softer crust. Well probably try the high rise crust next time.

We love Blaze Pizza...and who wouldn’t...everyone can get their own pizza their way!! And if your like me there’s leftovers for lunch the next day...2 meals for one price!! And the leftovers are even great cold outta the fridge! Love that have a gluten free option and are truly concerned about not cross contamination.

Tried Blaze Pizza tonight, billed as a "build your own" personal sized pizza place, it was pretty good. While you dont actually "build it" yourself, the workers do, they are very freindly, and helpful. The ingredients were high quality, variety was good (I counted at least 5 types of cheeses),the service was fast asadvertised. Prices run from 4.95 for a cheese pizza, to 6.25 for a one topping, 7.95 for their signature pies, I shall return!Free Wifi too

Thought blaze would be a good date night idea. It wasn’t... first I watched the cook drop the big spatula to move all the pizzas in the oven on the ground. He then proceeded to use that same one to take my burnt pizza out. Going to smokin oak from now on.

I continue to be impressed by this place. Friendly and helpful staff. Great, affordable, customizable pizzas. Food sensitivities are no problem here. Gluten free crust is the same price as the regular, and theres a vegan cheese option. "Build your own" comes with no limits, so pile on all the meats and veggies you want! Biggest drawback for our family is just the location, because close parking can be tough to find. Well keep going back as long as it continues being a tasty, affordable option!

You can make your own pizza here. I tried “Green stripes” and “link in” and those were really tasty. I would highly recommend this place.

So, the pizza is good. Thats not a problem. Its basic wood-fired pizza with a particularly good red sauce involved. The mozzarella also seems to be of good quality.The problem here is, it seems a bit to disorganized for my liking. Some of the staff communicated well and were helpful, others were a tad rude and not so helpful. From what I hear this is fairly typical. With that in mind this might not be a quick and easy place to get pizza if thats what youre after.

Amazing pizza, toppings, and variety! Thin crust pizza, with many variety of toppings and also amazing fresh drinks like lemonade and blood orange lemonade! highly recommend and definitely one of the best restaurants in ames, iowa.

absolutely love this place. my favorite restaurant in ames. i️ do not recommend the gluten free unless you have to as it is very thin and gets quite burnt in their wood fired oven. build your own is amazing, unlimited toppings for one set price. i️ come here all the time!

Its a very nice place for a quick bite. But good because of the price, quick service(because of the very high temp ovenand the taste. Im a vegetarian and for me not getting charged for each topping is the best. Gluten free option! Its all about having so many choices from choosing the base to what to put on the baked pizza.

Pizza is always good, love that you watch them put everything on in front of you. Chocolate chip brownie is also a must!!

Love the idea that you dont have to pay for extra toppings. The 3 minute pizza cook time is also a huge plus. This was my first time but Ill be back.

You can basically make any kind of pizza you want, which is cool, but the crust was burnt and flavorless.
