Blackley Forest in Manchester
Description
Privilege
Nice relaxing walk.
Solo visit best
Good park.
Beautiful water running through the forest, although it could do with a small amount rubbish clearing out of it its mind clearing.👍 I feel like man made areas of the forest(peep windows)need a little up keep😬...or paint!to make them a focus and give them purpose again.😁 Theirs a hidden white bench near the peep windows in the middle of the woods its..random, but nice spot to sit off the path. Up hill areas so be ready to hike a little. But I love this forest. Just needs a little care.💚
MoreI have drove past here over and over then my wife suggested we take our dogs there for a walk well to say the least I was totally surprised to know was a beautiful hidden gem of a place was just of the main road lovely and peaceful people were nice it was a nice walk for us all
MoreNice fr a walk
Nice small local woodlands with the River Irk passing throughKids enjoy jumping across on to the island in the middle of the river. Was great making a wig wham a few years ago with my children near Blackley New Rd entrance and coming back a short time later to see others had copied our idea. Every times i take my family we see more wig whams.Even made a wig wham competition in the forest with youth group that im involved with.Brill place. Enthusiasts can carry on walking up to Middleton after crossing Victoria Ave
MoreNice place for a walk. Dog liked it too.
Lovely place with amazing nature
Nice shaded walk on hot days for the dogs, and a nice paddle in the stream as well.
MoreNot visited this place for a long time, and only small compared to the large ones, but nice on a walk around on a sunny day and quiet and just to get away from everything, 😍
MoreThis beautiful mysterious woodland area is a lovely drop back that leads you to the back entrance of Heaton Park in Whitefield Manchester.
MoreBeautiful and relaxing walks
A nice forest for a chill walk
Pleasant walk along river but not much vsriagated interest. Locals informed us of a walk around a fishing lake and chatted with a very informative angler.
MoreIts the first time Ive been there most enjoyable.I was doing an all our yesterdays I remember the forest being planted
MoreAverage walk in a built up area. Quite small, but ok. Quiet even on a dry Sunday afternoon.
MoreNice walk although disappointed with parts being untidy and rubbish left
Beautiful place for a quick getaway from the city. Barely any people.
A lovely place with lots of wild life, if you are lucky you might see a kingfisher.
MoreTo much rubbish lying around, but a nice picturesque spot. Not to large as its city centre Manchester.
MoreNice small route. Got about 5000 steps in. Abit muddy so wellies needed. Would be more fun in spring or autumn to get the fl visual effect.
MoreAwesome spot. Great place for drone flying.
Lovely place to ho for a nature walk
Ancient woodlands, right on your doorstep...
Man like abshir and arsalan wanted to check out this place but it was dark and raining...we went down anyway. Man like arsalan was making noises and acting like slender man. Flipping abshir is acting like theres no jinns in the world. Im like bro ima vomit soon lets get out this place. Sadly I wasnt able to judge the beauty of the forest. I only got to see the dark side.
MoreAs far as cemeteries go its alright, but the roads inside the cemetery are a bloody nightmare if you meet vehicles coming the other way. Which idiot thought a single lane road on a hilly cemetery was a good idea?
MoreGo there, its so peaceful and calming.
Because I live across the road and its a lovely place
Lovely Community Forest. My children used to play there but I had only gone in for the odd walk round the lake until recently. Since Lockdown 2020 I have been all over including off the beaten path. It isnt that large but its an interesting forest as it has a lake, a river hills and steps. The entrance off Victoria Avenue has ramped access although only the path near River Irk is level enough for wheelchairs. The other main entrance is off Blackley New Road. The birdsong in there is just amazing and a kingfisher has been regularly spotted on the River Irk. You can also see the occasional deer - we spotted one by the river but we have heard lots of accounts of other sightings all over the forest. We have enjoyed watching two pairs of coots caring for their offspring on the lake. They are very good parents and fierce in their protection of their young. I definitely recommend exploring this forest.
MoreSurprisingly pleasant and hidden gem
A nice quiet place to take time out and take a short walk. Near heaton park, the Motorway and Sainsburys.
MoreLove visiting my parents grave side. So peaceful and well kept gardens. Lots of little squirrels running around.
MoreFantastic, very quiet and peaceful
Nice walking area especially for children. Went on a warm day so kids paddled in the stream and explored the wooded area. Enjoyed.
MoreBeautiful find in Blackley, trees, river and wild deer 🦌🌳
I love this place. So close to home and not as busy as near by Heaton Park. It is dog friendly and all the locals are very nice.
MoreNice place to walk and I bet a lovely walk in the summer, I will definitely visit again and maybe have a picnic
MoreLovely place to walk the dogs, be a bit careful at night
Great for a walk on your own or with your dog an the kids spotting wild life

Beautiful forest. Is quite small but so peaceful.
Lovely place to go for walks!
Small but they do well to maintain it
Love this wood. Not big but a great escape from all the surrounding traffic.
Lovely nature space with woods, a river and a reservoir. Ideal for a relaxing walk in nature
MoreGreat palce for a walk, with a camera, lots of wild life too see, including parakeets
MoreNice walk near river but close to road.
Blackley forest is a surprising find. A small forest running beside a fast flowing river with a path that runs from Heaton Park Sainsburys to Blackley new road snd and beyond.
