Always good for a pint, food is excellent, service is consistently reliable and the garden is a lovely place to hang out.

Cosy wood fired hearth indoors. Large open outdoor seating. Friendly & helpful staff. Loved my Margarita. My order got mixed up & even though my friend opted to take it, We got 20% off the entire tab.The meal was nice & nothing was too pricey. Id certainly go again.

I am really excited about Christmas this year. Last year, my father (who is now deceasedgave me a one year membership for the black horse. I ordered apple fudge sundae but it never arrived. My car crashed and now I have severe brain damage. This “restaurant” has a terribly darn racist name. Upon entry to the ***** horse, I had my downstairs thoroughly checked by a male guard. I am a male. This was severely inappropriate. I will have to notify my neighbour about this place. - jack lorense4

The price of the roast is far to expensive for what you get. £17 for beef and £21 for 3 meats.There is nothing special about the roast itself, veg was cut to big for visual effect on the plate and not cooked for long enough meaning wasted carrots and parsnips, the potatoes were standard and mass cooked and a bit soggy on the outside.The yorkie was good, but an extra £1 for a side of gravy, standard gravy too didn’t taste ‘fresh’ sorry but you should put more on the plate in the first place or ask the table if they would like an extra jug.I have been here before for so knew of the cost when booking and am happy to pay the price for something exceptional, this however is nothing special, the only thing to make it different is some butternut jue on the side.The staff were friendly and did their best, the toilets could do with a lick of paint on the radiator instead of seeing rust!I would suggest if you want to pay this much for a roast go to Stoke Mill a Michelin star restaurant and pay £30 for 2 courses on a Sunday and get something special.

Went Friday evening for the first time and will definitely be back. Our waiter was brilliant and I had a halloumi with a panko flat mushroom burger which was delicious

Wonderful lunch had.Team really friendly.Clean and tidy through out.Blokes toilet was a little smelly?And not a nice smell.The menu is small, not a bad thing though just limited on choice, however are party had different items we all really enjoyed it.The only down side is the price on food and drink.The food is a little heavy on the price side, but we understand that every thing is going up, so thats acceptable.However £8 for two shots of JD in my opinion is way two much for what they are.Next time I will pick the drinks more carefully.Keep up the good work.

One of our regular Sunday evening and occasional daytime food places, able to cater for large groups, we have arrived with 25 plus people and they always cope well. Food isnt cheap but the atmosphere is good and the fact they take large groups brings us back time after time.

Aspall from tap - amazing taste. Very good food, dogs friendly, nice garden, big car park. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Five stars from me. Well deserved.

Havnt been here for years and always thought it to be a bit run down. To my surprise found a busy smart vibrant place. Visited on a busy Friday evening in summer and was a really good vibe. Lots of tables outside with an efficient table service. Had a great Korean fried chicken burger really good. Nice place would visit again and they had some zero alcohol brew dog which is better than the usual becks blue.

I cant fault this top Norwich pub , except to say I cant always get a table for Sunday Roast cos its so popular! the roast is amazing, Id say the best in Norwich, as are the staff who are consistently friendly and professional whether its Saturday night or Monday early evening. love this pub.

We have used this pub for more than 20 years with various owners and it is as good as its ever been. The food is very good, the staff are excellent and the garden is the best we have ever seen, we have a dog so its ideal for us. If you order a sandwich be prepared for large. 🥪

The Black Horse is a great pub serving excellent food. The staff were very attentive and friendly. There plenty of seats outside to enjoy the summer sun.Be aware that the carpark can get a little tight when busy.

Exceptional food - master chef style execution.Have tried multiple dishes across the menu now.The dishes seem really well thought out, with the ingredients working together to bring flavours out in balanced meals.This place has become a first for me to bring family or friends who want really good food, for which the meals have consistently impressed.Service is noticeably good, well trained and what looks to be genuinely happy and welcoming staff.Management deserve a pat on the back here.

Went to Blackhorse Saturday night it was a gift for a birthday present . What a lovely place so clean lovely atmosphere and the food was really lovely , we know this pub been going there for years but haven’t been for long while as live further away now but I really was not disappointed I would definitely go back there and would recommend to my friends thank you for a lovely meal made my husbands birthday

Delicious sharing platter for 2. We were sat in the outdoor garden on benches, plenty of space. Chilled atmosphere. Was busy outside but waitresses super efficient and friendly.

Cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere. Also the best roast we have had in Norwich! Yorkshire pudding was huge, there was ample gravy and the roast potatoes were crispy. Vegetarian option was delicious. Staff were all attentive, friendly and very polite. We had a lovely table next to the fire - we will be visiting again!! Plus they offer 10% student discount, which is great value.

Absolutely gorgeous roast dinner today. We arrived a little early but waited in the warm at our table. The atmosphere was really friendly (the staff are all lovelyand the food was wonderfully fresh and delicious! The free doggy roast dinner was a hit with my dog Evie. We’re looking forward to going back soon.

We absolutely loved The Black Horse. Five of us booked a table for lunch everything was perfect, the staff were great, the pub itself so thoughtfully decorated and furnished and the food was amazing such a good combination of flavours on each dish it was outstanding. We all felt that wed found a hidden gem of a place. We will be back as soon as we can. Thank you.

Great pub, our vegetarian friends impressed too, strangely, they had vegetarian options at the start of the mains, followed by meat and fish options. Small menu, but straters are like small meals, so had 2 of them, which made good size meal and same price as a main. We all enjoyed the food. Prices are very decent, cosy atmosphere.Glad they welcome dogs too. Loads of covered and heated seating outside too

Lovely place, delicious foods. Love the mulled wine.I have to edit my review because my daughter got food poisoning after had dinner hear. Im pretty sure something not right in her fish n chips because when we still waiting for family, the staff brought fish n chips kid meal for us but we said we didnt order. Im not sure the fish n chips my daughter ate is that dish or different one but she thrown up in midnight, fever and diarrhea for 2 days. Still not get better until now. Im not gonna risk my kids health again so wont come back.

Lovely staff and good vibes. The food is alright and it didnt take long to come out. Covid rules are easy to follow and well implemented. Their prices are also really reasonable eg £3.50 for homemade gin

Recommend! Cosy, dog friendly, has a garden. The food is fresh tasty, and tastefully decorated and served. Wine is great as well. Vegan food is also available. The staff are very friendly. Bottom line: Ill come back!

Had a great time at their Carribbean BBQ with steel band. Burgers by Fry-Up Police were amazing. Lovely soft sofa to sit on outside in the shade.

One of the best pubs Ive been to in Norwich. Huge outside space with shaded areas and lots tables. They have a ping pong table and jenga. Lovely bathrooms huge bar. Nice rustic atmosphere inside with leather seats. Takes card and good sharing platters. It also has a large car park which is incredibly useful for parking.

Cute bar with good food I had the vegetable polenta gratin yesterday ! Really good ! The waiters and waitresses are always nice and welcoming ! There s a fire place inside and a heated outside ! I recommend so much this place ! Thank you for everything ! Good times with friends there too to have pints on evenings! And 10% off for students !
