The Black Star Gate is part of the Independence Square now known as the Black Star Square in Accra.The Black Star Square consists of the Independence Arch, the Black Star Gate and the Liberation Day Monument.The Black Star Gate is a monument topped by the Black Star of Africa.Its fun to visit this tourist site. It costs nothing to visit this tourist site however horse riding is available at a fee.The Black Star Gate was commissioned by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah on 1st July, 1961.

The Black Star Gate is part of the Independence Square now known as the Black Star Square in Accra.It is located at the center of the Square where parades are held. The Black Star Gate is a monument topped by the Black Star of Africa. The five-pointed star represents Africa in general and particularly Ghana itself. It has the inscription “AD 1957” and “Freedom and Justice”. The Black Star Gate was commissioned by Kwame Nkrumah to indicate the countrys supreme power to control its own affairs. This place represnts the heritage and soul of our dear nation Ghana.

A tour here took less than 30 minutes altogether.There was a historian there who gave a brief history and my questions seemed to be too much😃There is no entrance fee so you can basically donate about 10-20 cedis depending on how generous youre feeling.There are vantage points for taking good pictures if you climb all the way up.The monument itself isnt well maintained though. Hoping that will change really soon.

We got a very nice and warm welcome. Although the place is not officially open yet as a result of the pandemic yet we were able to get into the beautiful atmosphere and saw the flowers and water fountain. Its a nice place to be really. When its officially open we go for a proper visit .

Very great location to visit several sites in a general area.The beach area is close walk as well as Independence Square, an outdoor arena.Old Osu Castle is another destination close by. Its the old official home for the President.
