Globally influenced small plates accompany wine & cocktails in a lofty, industrial setting.
The food was good but the service was not. We ordered individual dishes for dinner and then they brought out one dish 10 minutes before 2 other dishes then the last one probably like 20 minutes after the first dish. It was a terrible experience. When we asked why this happened, the waitress responded that their food was family style, which also seems odd based on what we ordered (the chicken and lamb meatballs). We probably won’t go back due to the poor service we experienced.
Basic food and basic cooking. Dry scorched broccoli with no dressing and pan fry shishito peppers that anyone can do at home. Mall food court experience. We returned the broccoli to the kitchen.
Dine in and had a great experience. Great cocktails and entrees. Definitely will come back again.
Stopped in on a busy Friday night and had no trouble getting seated or served at the bar. The staff were friendly and attentive around everything going on, and both the food and drinks were delicious. I look forward to coming back in the future to try new things!
Interesting and tasty small plate menu with gourmet flair, but a bit pricey. Well-prepared drinks and pleasant staff, although not a place for a quiet conversation. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎
Highly recommend the beef short ribs, the Brazilian roast chicken, the bacon lemon scallops and the lamb meatballs plate. Service was awesome and the dishes were ready very soon after we ordered.Would definitely come back!
This place deserves 5 starts for consistent quality drinks and food. And for letting me sit at the bar with my little chihuahua.
We always order Major Danger and their pear flatbread!! Delicious!Minors are not allowed in this place ( at least the sign on the door said so)
Great menu, friendly team, terrific setting especially with the fireplaceGet there early since kitchen closes at nine. Door is tricky in the dark: far left side and around the corner as you face — look for the Black Bottle street sign overhead and hurry inside!
Staff was quick to seat us after proof of vaccine. They were friendly, helpful and took our order right away. The food was absolutely fantastic.
Good food and drinks! Or server was great. Loved the ambiance. Entrance was a bit difficult to find due to the construction. It’s a 21+ restaurant and you will be asked at the door if you’re above 21.
Wow. I know staffing issues are a problem. There’s a sign in the window asking patrons to be patient, but an hour to get my drink? Server took the drink order and we never saw him again. Had to flag another server to order food. And we never got the check. We could have just sailed outta there and not paid. I love this place, but I’m not coming back. Super disappointing.
Good place for a date night. Decent options for vegetarians
The place is very nice ambient.... food r ok ....its not easy to identify their waiter and guess....i am not sure if it their fault though....we have pork with malbac which test really good very rich- fatty. We have olive stuff cheese which is just ok the condiment that it came with is very good....and we got lemon tart for desert ...which is more like cheese cake top with lemon sauce..just ok..3 star bc we have to try several time to call to oder food and get check .....desert although nice portion the test dosent balance well
Havent been in for a bit. They took out their happy hour menu and changed the menu itself. I liked the old menu better, had more Asian flare to their dishes. The flatbread was great. Everything else was ok. Service was ok. Nothing exceptional. But one thing they do do is play great music. They play R&B, and old school. Love it.
Pros: Beautiful space, great ambiance, and all of the staff were very friendly. Would love to come here to drink.Cons: We came for dinner. We were seated for about 10min before someone finally noticed us, brought water, and told us our server will be with us soon, just as we were ready to move to the bar for service. This was at 8:30pm on Thursday-- restaurant was not busy.Blasted broccoli was soggy and just salty. Not bad, but very one-note and plain. Not a $12 broccoli dish, and couldnt force myself to eat more than a few.Pulled pork tacos had good salsa and tortilla, but the star, the pork, was very under-seasoned, bland, and dry. Okay for $2/each street tacos, but really hoped for better as such a beautifully described entree on the menu. After the $50 dinner for two, I was still very hungry, but didnt want to order more food, fearing more letdowns.
Smoked wild boar, flatbread and peppers were delicious. A drink with the shaker delivered was a plus. Staff was attentive and professional. Would recommend.
Cocktails were spot on. Service was strong. Short rib were wonderful, but the cream chicken dish reminded me of a rubber chicken meal at a hotel conference. So we will give it another try, but they need to pick it up a bit.
Big fan of the drinks. It was my first and possibly only time visiting since Im only in town for a couple more days, but Eli had me figured out. Only got two drinks but I could tell my boy was generous with the liquor and that he takes his alcohol seriously. 10/10.Ally was amazing too. Out here zipping through the restaurant from table to table since she was basically the only server, but still managing to make me feel cared for. Shed be the one in the friend group to ask someone to repeat what they said if her other friends talk over them. Also just liked her aesthetic in general. Caught a vibe or whatever they say on tiktok these days.
This review is from Friday Dec. 3rd. The service was terrible. We went as a party of 4 for a special occasion. Our meals came out one at a time, spaced 15 minutes apart. We asked the waitress what the hold up was as each entrée came separately. (she said she didnt know and offered 10% off total bill). I understand post covid that businesses are short staffed and its hard to keep up with orders. I can only assume that was the reason for such poor service although if it was, it was never explained. For a check that ended up being (with discountover $250 it was an absolute waste of money and an embarrassment in entertaining our friends.
Had high hopes. Pretty busy Saturday drinks good. Food choices included lots of shareable dishes but was just ok. Best dish was the lamb meatballs. Grilled Halloumi Cheese W Date Pepper was just a total miss…
Great atmosphere. Great serving staff. Great food and cocktails.
How have we not been here lately? We basically ordered everything on the menu here... started with Ol Smokey Cocktail, which was fabulous- smoked at the bar, but unleashed table-side...The four of us shared a host of plates - nachos, gem salad, chicken, beef short ribs - all were excellent.Only complaint is that the timing of some were weird... we wanted the gem salad first, but it came out last... who finishes with a cold salad as last plate? Alas, it was tasty. All this greatness was not cheap though! Those small aged at $18 add up fast to the tune of $300 for our table- ouch!
**the dinner was comped by the manager**This restaurant is a catfish - it looks inviting & delicious but the service is abrasive & the food is mediocre at best.In terms of food quality, I would say it’s comparable to items found in the frozen isle. The dinner was comped by the manager because of the lack health standards. There is no way these people can pass a health inspection. They serve you food in FILTHY dishes paired with even FILTHIER utensils. We’re in global pandemic please prioritize health standards and proper sanitization. When I discussed my concerns with the manager she was aggressive & confrontational. The service provided by the host, the server and the food runner was equally abrasive due the training or lack there of this woman is providing.Save yourself from catching a virus — spend your time elsewhere. If you’re the owner of the restaurant feel free to PM me and I’ll be happy to give you the details I skipped.
Good beer selection and appetizer plates. Had the highly recommended broccoli and gorgonzola and onion flatbread. Portions big and overall both were great in between meals appetizers. Went as soon as it opened at 3 pm and service was prompt.
Too bad! I celebrated my birthday with 8 friends there, and they really made me disappointed ☹️ They made dinners ready with big gaps. Mine was the last one and they said that they missed my order. When they brought my meal, they said we are out of sauce for your order and my food was so dry. Finally, for the cake time someone just put the cake, which was in the box on the table and left. Really!!
The food is absolutely amazing and a must-try in the Bellevue area. Their baby gem & radicchio salad was ridiculous and is the best salad Ive ever had! The crispy artichokes, dressing, and Beechers cheese in work perfectly together and my partner & I will each be getting our on all future orders. Each dish felt unique and inspired by a different part of the world without relying too heavily on traditional recipes. The desserts were equally delicious, especially their bourbon soaked bread pudding with their freshly made challah and Makers Mark.
A hidden fine-dining place in Bellevue. Came here to celebrate 2 birthdays with our friends. The cocktails were so refreshing, try watermelon mojito and mango jalapeño margarita. The baby gems salad with artichoke hearts and the pear-gorgonzola flatbread were my favourite of all. You must try them! They also served us with a candle on a lemon cheesecake.
The food was SO good! The flavors were expertly balanced and delicious! The service and atmosphere was great as well! I will definitely recommend to others :)
Another family style of eatery, portions were plentiful . The spinach salad was the best ever. Its more a bar type of atmosphere with romantic lighting, a lot of business people frequent this establishment at the time we were there. Each item was very generous in its portions.
Delicious small plates with a nice variety of spirits and cocktails. Lamb meatballs were delicious. Gorgonzola and pear flatbread was one of the best combinations. This place is spacious and has plenty of room for all party sizes.
Beautiful place for a nice dinner with friends. Definitely recommend for a large group. Most of the food is shareable so it would be fun to go with a large group and try different things. I tried emailing for a reservation for Friday evening, they responded back saying they have too many reservations. We reached there to try walk in to find the place not even half full. Not sure why the reservation was rejected.Three of us got here starving. Our drinks were served really quickly but we had to flag down our server for food order. Between the 3 of us we ordered 7 things including oysters. I would recommend about 3 dishes between two people. We got their lamb meatballs with hummus, cauliflower fritters, 7 spice shrimp, raw oysters, flatbread with artichoke and Dungeness dip, chola bhatura and pear, onion and Gorgonzola flatbread. Everything was really tasty. Specially liked the dungeness dip and flatbread. Found the shrimp a tad overcooked and the chola bhatura needs a bit more seasoning - I have to say though it did exceed my expectations. We also tried their lemon curd and ricotta cake. I like the curd but the cake had an unpleasant texture. It also has lavender bits on top which if you scoop up too many might get overwhelming. The drinks were decent, I like myMoscow mule but my friend wasnt a fan of their margarita. The service was not great. Our server seemed almost indifferent?! He wasnt smiling at all, he used to take our order and walk away almost hurriedly. Maybe was having an off day? We were too busy with the food so it didnt bother us much.Come here for the ambiance and the food. I like that the food is innovative and they have a full bar. Definitely worth another visit for me.
I wasn’t super hungry and was really pleased with the variety of appies to eat. Everything was tasty, and I loved the beer selection.I also liked the lighting fixtures.
Very pleasant ambience and shared menu options. The food was good quality and very tasty. So why only three stars? Well the service was just strange. Not just a server, but all of them, seemed to treat my party like it was some sort of privilege that we were allowed to be there. It was reminiscent of the Apple store and they way they talk down/at you..very weird...
We had the avocado fries and braised short ribs. The food and service was very good. My few critiques would be the following: the prices online are not what’s on the menu (regular or happy hour), some items listed online were no longer on the menu and for the price, the short ribs should’ve come with bread or potatoes or something. The short ribs were $25 and it was only two ribs and a lot of fat. The flavor was great but it needed something extra to make it worth it.
A trendy bar and restaurant with a large space and great ambiance for a date, group of friends, or couples. The food is tapas style, with a variety of dishes that are shareable. All dishes are full of flavour and they have maintained it over the years. The broccoli blasted and stuffed olives are must-try dishes. Dont think weve ever loved broccoli as much as we do here. Excellent selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. Staff are fun and helpful and service is fast. Park in the Avalon Tower in the back and get free validated parking.
The food is great. The service so-so, but these lights? WTF? Lol Yes, thats chicken wire. Curious if the service would be better in another location, cause the food is worth another trip!
The bartender suggested the pulled pork taco over the ahi taco and they did not disappoint. Great food and reasonably priced, but the best part is the 90s music playing.
Good food! Go with 2+ friends and get a little of everything! Good cocktails and the avacado fries from the happy hour special are a must!
Okay place for drinks and tapas but think carefully before you order.Pros: blasted broccoli was delicious. The steak was cooked right but bit on the small side.Cons: The flat breads are a bit on the heavy side but definitely enough to fill you up. Did not like the beet wedges with cheese - that was just unnecessary. The boar ribs looked like something you give to your dog or something that came out of a fake food toy kit from Fisher Price.
Maybe my expectations were too high but I wasnt super impressed. I had the fried chicken bites; the cheesy Dungeness artichoke dip; the pear, onion, and Gorgonzola flat bread; and a couple beers. The chicken was good but really plain, pretty one dimensional. The artichoke dip was better but still not that exciting in terms of flavor. The flat bread was probably the best but I still didnt love it. The onions on it were really nice but the overall dish was too doughy and lacked any layering of flavor. The beers I tried (No-li Big Juicy IPA and Deschutes Jubilalewere both good but nothing special. My server, Emily, was very nice and the kitchen and bar were fast to produce food and drink. For this price point, I expected something a bit more memorable in the experience. Everything was good but nothing was great.
Great place for tapas style dining. Our group had just about everything on the menu for dinner. It was very good with all fresh ingredients well plated. If youre a cocktail person, the bartenders here make classic cocktails and very nice presentation. We also ate all 3 desserts of which the chocolate mousse was my favorite with a nice 20yr port. This restaurant gets a little busy at times so order often and dont wait until you finish your drink before you order another. Happy dining!
(Late reviewIve been here a few times now, trying to give places benefit of the doubt, but it didnt go to well... Had to take a star back!!Had dinner here friday night 06/08/18. Not the best service with many mistakes & oops!! Usually I talk kindly of restaurants but tonight..... It didnt go well. Ill forgive them because maybe they r sadden by the news about Anthony Bourdain.First. My friend had a piece of broken sliver of broken glass in her drink, she also pricked her finger with that tiny glass. She Was bleeding. "ouch"Second. We order shots. They put a salt rim on a whiskey drink..... Hmm..... & then mixed up our drinks. They apologize with whatever excuses they came up with.... Maybe The bar is to dim to see.... It doesnt matter, if youre a bartender you should know your drinks!!This is my first bad review
Great Atmosphere, wonderful appetizer style plates. I cant say how much we just love coming here for a night out in Bellevue. The food is crazy good. I cant think of anything that we just did not keep saying how yummy and flavorful the dish was. It can be crowded as it is popular, so if you have a group make a reservation. Looking forward to our next date night here,
The food was good, nice ambiance to the restaurant, the drinks were delicious. Ive been here twice with friends.Had their happy hour white the first time I went and tried their 40 year port, the second time I had a walnut old fashioned. As for food the first time we got the chola batura eggplant potato chickpeas, burrata arugula salad figs walnuts, and the pear caramelized onions and gorgonzola. The second time we had the chickpeas and dessert.Do note that it is a tad pricey. Its a place Id go for a nice date or to catch up with friends over a few drinks.
We had a good time at black bottle. Small plates were very good and the cocktails were tasty too. Will come back if Im in the area for sure.
I love this place amazing service, good collection of food and drinks. Plan to be early or getting a reservation. Was on one of the weekdays and still it was full 😊
Great service, tasty food, amazing drinks. Went early so cant speak to wait times, but seems like a well run place.
Really good food that you can share with the entire table. The bacon wrapped scallops were great but those cheese stuffed green olives that were fried were the best....Must find that recipe.
Hit: Pork belly and kimchi, dessertsMiss: Duck a bit dryOverall friendly service. Nice place. Pretty good portions for "small plates".
