Hip venue lined with quirky stained glass for alternative gigs & club nights from hip-hop to reggae.
Bitterzoet in Amsterdam
Description
Very rude security guard, treaded me like I wasn’t even there even though I bought tickets. Do not recommend.
MoreHorribly rude staff, didn’t let my friend in even though we had tickets, because she has naturally big pupils. Pretended we didn’t exist afterwards. Screw this place never go.
Morethis place was horrible. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. everyone smells bad
Too crowded. For a show they should have a limit of people. We could barely breath
MoreI was in there one time and wanted to order at the bar so I tried to get the attention of the waiter with my hand whereafter he aggressively hit my hand away
MoreLovely place good vibes and lovely concert It was my first time there but I enjoyed it very much
MoreCan you spell fake advertisement? The event poster/social media said dancehall party but they only played hip hop music all night. DJ’s transitions were mid, MC kept interrupting which made it sound not smooth. Nothing against hip hop by the way, but don’t promote something and then not deliver. Drinks were cheap which is good, not a lot of space to dance but nothing too dramatic.
MoreIf you love 90s/2000s hip-hop venues this is the place to go
Nice vibes. Decent DJs. Not enough space to really dance though. Had a great night nonetheless. Still recommend 👍🏾
MoreI bought 3 tickets and they didnt let us in, because they said we are high... even though we were clean. Very disappointing. I not recommend.
MoreGreat night at the Fuego event! Listening and vibing to 90’s And 00’s R&B / Hip Hop
MoreGreat music...fun place to go dance!
Great club, awesome music, decor was Interesting. Upstairs was a little worn down and bathrooms were trashed as well as many storage lockers werent working. Though purpose of visiting probably wont have that on their mind.
MoreTerrible DJ’s, terrible transitions, expensive drinks and a lot of false advertising.
MoreAfter years this is THE club for polite and nice staff and for Real nice people too meet and or dance with, i have been falling and dropping littery from having fun in there, my words cant discribe how much i respect this party Club and bar and stage the bitterzoet
MoreGreat venue and nice staff. Had a great time. Bathrooms could be better
Music or noise? Promoted the "Urban Classics" themed night but played unknown Dutch music and bad music in general. None of the popular and loved urban classics music were played. Left after an hour of disappointment.
MoreSmall venue but the stage is very low giving it an intimate vibe which is great but with the Dutch audience mentality you can be sure your small companions need to either be there early or look at the backs of long men that won’t move.
MoreThey treated my friend really rude, they used physical force to take out a 50kg girl. I do Not recommend. Please choose another place to go dancing
MoreParty supposed to be 80s and 90s hip hop music but it was nothing close to it. It was overcrowded. On top of that we had to wait on a queue to go outside for a smoke. We also had 5 minutes to smoke infront of the place because the next group had to come outside.
MoreMy 18yo daughter went out in Bitterzoet and lost her wallet. She contacted them few days later and they had found it. She got it back including all of her money. Great to see that kind of reliability and honesty in Amsterdam nightlife!
MoreIntimate, lovely and I enjoyed my time 5/5 Also Missio was great for this venue!
Very nice and cozy small stage...Great place to see your favourite band.
A definite dive bar atmosphere with toilets the like of which Ive only experienced in some rough bars in New Orleans. Still all of this adds to the atmosphere and the stained glass windows are s nice touch. Door staff were friendly and helpful.
Morewent to see Naaz twice in Bitterzoet. its a small venue with lots of places to stand on different heights. Im not very tall so it was great to be able to stand on the little platform in the bag so I could still see everything. I did feel like there were more people than the venue should be able to admit
MoreOne of the best rnb, hiphop, reggae, dancehall and overall urban music place in Amsterdam. Very good on Friday nights and Saturday night. Also good when the occasional artist performing. Tip: don’t arrive before 12am. The club gets jumping later in the night.
MoreWhat a great little venue. This place has some great soul and a great feeling. Im not sure there is a bad spot in the place to see a show.
MoreI tried to get in here, the bouncer wouldnt let me in - maybe because I was solo. Anyway the vibe I got from people in line was students from Netherlands who got drunk for first time in their life - Im not sure I would enjoy the club anyway because it all seemed more of a college party for kids than an actual night club. Coming from somebody who is from Croatia these type of things dont happen in clubs you pay you get in no biased selection based on looks or what-so-ever. Wouldnt recommend if you expect a real party, if youre a kiddo then have fun I guess.
MoreVery nice venue that aint too big. Tickets here are quite cheap and the smoking room is quite fancy and with nice lounge chairs.
MoreWe thought we would be able to see our friends band after pre-purchasing tickets. We didnt realize that you need to wait in line for an hour to ensure that you can see the band. We ended up sitting upstairs on the couch drinking and listening to our childhood friends band from Fargo, ND. The concert sounded great! Just couldnt see s#*t. The bar tender was really friendly, and told us that the venue could hold up to 500 people and that currently only 300 tickets were sold. It was shoulder to shoulder, people standing on stairs, balcony, wherever they could catch a glimpse. The saddest thing I saw all night was a couple holding each other at the bottom of the stairwell to the lockers/bathrooms, swaying in their seated position, eyes closed, trying to enjoy the music. I wanted to tell them that if they pushed through the horde, there was standing space on the balcony. As the show concluded, we waited around to say hi to our friends in the band and just after the line died down to sign autographs everyone was quickly being escorted outside. Apparently Im with the band! doesnt even work for the band. After rendezvousing with them afterward at nearby bar Louis (awesome place, tasty foodthey were peeved since the club had oversold the 350 cap. They sold 485 tickets. This would be an amazing venue at 250-300 person limit. The Bitterzoet has been bittersweet.
MoreI love it here! I only come to bitterzoet for hip hop nights, but its great :the staff is friendly and the music is good. Clean and big smoking area with really good couches. The only point of improvement might be the glasses; some of them break throughout the night which means the floor is covered in glass.. u should consider hard plastic instead of actual glass
MoreGreat place, gorgeous friendly staff, from the doorkeeper, the entry up to the bar no one could have been more friendly ! *****
MoreNice and small venue with a hearty atmosphere. Very close to centraal station so its easy to get there.
MoreIt probably depends on who is performing but I went to the BBQ party with some friends and it was a great time. The crowd is definitely young to mid 20s. Drinks were priced relatively well. Dancing was great. Smoke room upstairs. The vibe was definietly hip, I almost felt overdressed in my short sleeve button down shirt. I would recommend checking their lineup before going to see if you like the music being played
MoreAwesome music hall! Great acts in an intimate atmosphere and hip location. Clear sound system and crazy light show. Not too loud but enough to feel the beat. Good drink selection and fair prices. Lockers included for 2€. Highly recommendable!
MoreAmazing club. Visited with some friends and there was a hip hop and rnb night. Great atmosphere. The only bad thing was the security man on the front door was quite rude.Definitely going back again when in Amsterdam.
MoreThe first time I visited Bitterzoet was because a cozy concert was held here. It was downstairs. The club area, I believe! Staff was nice. I had to exchange some (coinmoney for the lockers. I wish somebody had told me that beforehand tho! All in all, the experience was lovely. So no regrets!
MoreI went here to see Shannon and the Clams. The venue is quite nice and has a church like interior. But with a bar of course. Prices for drinks are reasonable. It can be quite warm inside though.
MoreI went to the disco which is located downstairs. It was a cool disco with good selection of R&B songs! Dance floor is a bit small, bathrooms are okay (for a disco), lockers cost 2 euro, there is a smoking room and two old game consoles upstairs! If you like R&B then definitely give it a try!
MoreA brilliant place with a good atmosphere and people who like to get down more so than in most places around Amsterdam. Probably a better venue for hip-hop and urban music type of nights than for house music.Cool staff, good soundsystem. When we were there last the smoking room had a DJ playing karaoke tracks, which turned out to be great fun.All in all a great establishment thats been around for decades.
MoreAmazing time seeing Lucy Rose. Fantastic venue, fairly small but made for a great atmosphere
MoreCozy venue, very friendly staff and has large smoking room.
One of the best clubs in Amsterdam. Since the venue is small the concerts are always very cosy and intimate.
MoreThe bouncer is the best part of this place. Nice guy. Small inside with a smell of sweat and red bull, the bright lights make it feel like theyve forgotten its a club. Music was OK, but there are plenty of better clubs in the dam.
MoreBest rnb and hiphop club in Amsterdam. I think the setup here is a lot better than Melkweg! If you love drake, kendrick, and old classics like biggie, then you must hit this club.
MoreNice bar, great venue. Saw Paul Kelly here. Worth checking out. If only for the naughty stained glass!
MoreSmall and cozy venue. Sometimes they have great bands/artists playing, which makes it perfect to see them really close. The drinks at the bar are at a reasonable price, and the staff is friendly and quick.
MoreI liked the place very much! Nice balconies, the place is cosy and plays good music. Nice staff. I will be back!
MoreGreat club, had a real nice out here! Club is small but really nice and sound is great!
MoreA nice place where you can have different experience every night its open.Sometimes there is hardly a crowd on a popular night and a packed building on a lesser known and the other way around.Good acoustic sound when properly set up.Prices at the bar arent that high though, some of the bar personnel could be a bit more friendlier.
