Bistro Year 1673 - Bistro in Melaka, Malaysia
Not bad with live band.Price is a little on the high side.
poor service. very bad foods, no taste at all, dirty environment, charge extra service charge with very bad service.Price didnt match the taste and service, with the price, i can get very good foods else where.
Worst experience, mediocre ambience, staff is extremely unwelcoming, no one cleaned our table when we arrived and no one came to take order for 10 minutes. All the staff is so cranky even if we asked simple questions
Food was mediocre. But the service was terrible . Not welcoming staff except for the male malay server.
Quiet place with yummy food in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the beautiful Jonker Street.
A lovely environment. Not busy due to being there early in the week. Good and friendly service. A couple of vocalists provided entertainment.
Food was good and live band obliging for song requests
This restaurent has nice building and great good
Open space... Very hot.... For last 10 minutes, no one came out and asked order
Food is ok. No variety of wine.. only few Italian wine which is lousy
We were just at the restaurant and had a very strange experience.. we asked a waitress if there were any tables available (at around 8:15pmand was told simply "finished" and she walked away. Granted the restaurant was really packed, but I think thats no way to treat your customers.. I was surprised to read other reviews that say good service here.
This restaurant is in fairly close proximity to the Hard Rock Café which may also be the closest competitor pricewise. The food and drinks were good, a small band started playing live.Compared to the other food on the street the Bistro is quite expensive. Keep that in mind, but I can recommend it!
Ambience was fine. There was live music playing which was the main reason that drew us in.Food and service (by one particular waitress, can’t speak for other waiterswas poor. A pizza margarita which usually consists of cheese and tomato arrived at our table with only cheese. We enquired about the absence of tomato paste, thinking maybe the chef forgot to add that but was responded with an unhelpful waitress who brought out cold tomato paste trying to prove that that’s what they used. She initially said there was tomatoes sauce and when we tore into every piece there was clearly nothing but cheese.A more helpful waitress did give us a 30% discount in the end which was the silver lining. The other waitress seemed overly defensive for no apparent reason.
After "rubbing shoulders" through Jonker Street, good place to chill with a beer and fries with good music.
Lunch - travelling Jonker Walk on the weekend is a challenge. Better put on your best walking shoes and be ready to literally go rub shoulders with others ... came to Bistro Year 1673 because its the only place with no queue plus it was really hot outside. The food are ok - I mean I was only looking for something to eat and away from the sun. Need to be patient when it comes to service. They will come ... just wait 😊 ... maybe because it was lunchtime.
When me and my friends went here at the evening, theres a music live show. Maybe its a common thing in this cafe. The ambiance of this place is good and you can choose to sit indoor or outdoor. Me and my friends chose to drink Teh Tarik and the beverage was delicious
Food is good only when chef Jo is around. Not much variety and it cost me about RM40 per pax (with drink).
For me food and drink overprice. Not worth paying for with the qualitt and price. Quite hot because not much wind. But love band ok.
Tonights (10/10/18live band was superbly awesome! They are great at singing songs from whatever era and whatever genre and very friendly and very courteous. Amazing performers!
Lunch menu was a very good price and had a good selection. Ordered the chicken parmesan which was very tasty. The service was also fantastic. Read some poor reviews from a while ago but it looks like theyve turned it around. Would definitely recommend
Horrible food. Everything’s reheated not fresh.. hard to swallow. Do Not try the mozzarella bread thing. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. Staff was good. Never coming again.
Awful food ever eaten in Malaysia. Curry Chicken taste suck. Others... Speechless.Good Luck folks. Surely you have plenty of options eating elsewhere in Melaka.
The best food I had after one month Asia. The lasagne was incredible. Idk why people write such bad reviews. For me it was every $ worth.
Really good food, worth the price. Also cozy athmosphere and friendly stuff.Would definetly recommend to anyone who likes to spend some time eating.
Friendly and accomodating. Talks English well. Yummy foods and serves fresh juice.
One of my worst meal. Old fashioned chicken chop was heavily breaded and soggy, fries was oily and the oil seem to be as old as the building. Fish and chips were just as bad. Overcooked.
Nothings great here... the food is overpriced when its compared with its taste and portion. better if spend the money in some other nonya restaurant. overall, NOT RECOMMENDED!
Good food. Good service. Good, not too loud music. Nice location. Mixture of European and Oriental cuisines.
Ok for food and ambience. Theres a live music played by an elderly couple.
Great Selection of Food. Nice Drinks Menu. Live Music. Good Service and Reasonable Prices.
The quality of food is getting from bad to worst. Most of the time the item you order is not available. The kitchen staff is very noisy and you cannot hear the band singing. Prices is too expensive for the quality & quantity of food served. Happen to see rats running around especially sitting near the kitchen.
Place so quiet and calm after the rush of jonker street. Food nice, good wifi.Historical place
I loved the live music there and only place could find open..till late.
The singer here is outstanding! Top class.but not sure whether she is still here or notand architecture of building is interesting. The atmosphere is good, especially with the singer.
Took my parents, who were visiting from japan, here for dinner. Food was ok -not outstanding, but not terrible either. The service was utterly atrocious. The wait crew seem to be totally unsupervised and completely indifferent; they did less than the absolute minimum their job requires (I worked in the service industry for nearly a decade, so I should know). They forgot our order, they forgot our drinks, they gave our drinks to the wrong table, they screwed up our order when it arrived, they either failed or refused to correct their errors, they never apologised, they had to be asked to clear our table, their body language when politely asked to do so was galling, and they never brought the dessert menu when we asked for it. In short, they treated us from start to finish as if we were intruders and not guests. They even had the pugnacious audacity to include, after all that, a service charge! I urge everyone to avoid this place like the plague! And just a tip: when a customer asks for his jacket potato to be replaced with extra vegetables, FRENCH FRIES ARE NOT WHAT THEY ASKED FOR!!!
Taste, service and waiting time were okay. The portion overall was rather small for the money. I had a baked potato and it was the smallest I ever had. Plus it was fied with mayo instead of yoghurt sauce.
Desserts and cocktails were nice - service a little slow but pleasant regardless.
Nice place to chill, especially after hours of walking around Jonker Walk. We came here early evening for beer, had finger food and rested for a while. Indeed, a relaxing environment, nothing to complain about the service.
Food was good. But services was bad. We went at 5+ n the waiters tends to forgot our orders n requests.
Good location, heritage atmosphere, good food..
The food is great! Its the oldest building in Malacca according tot the waiter. It was build by the Dutch! The food is good and there was a live singer which was good too. There was a cockroach walking around that was not nice.
Great food and service. Nice old building away from the crowds.
First time, the taste was good but i cant sure the cleaniness because a lot of plastic pieces were came out.
The restaurant it located in a wonderful historical building. The food served here is fantastic. The stuff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
Great atmosphere. A wide range of delicious cuisines...plus live music
We ordered spaghetti marinara and all the seafood are not fresh. Even the pasta is not fresh. The smoked salmon salads vegetables seemed like not washed yet.Only music selection and juices are fresh.
We just took some drinks on a Sunday evening, its quite nice, and it was really quiet.
We ordered Pasta, Chicken, and a Juice (Carrot/Ginger).The pasta was decent, and the juice pretty good, but the chicken was way too greasy and tasteless, as were the potato wedges that came with it.Cant really recommend this place as theres better options for cheaper around. The place is nice and spacious, and there was live music (a female singer and a bass player).
Ordered a "small bites" chicken burger which came out as a monstrous double burger double bun creation with two dried out patties. The management offered to replace it when it was obvious Id rather pay to not eat with a tuna bruschetta with low grade tuna on stale/toasted bread that was just doused in something that tasted suspiciously like ranch dressing. Then had to ask three times for the check. The food was definitely not good for the price.
We ordered twister fries and fish n chips. All frozen food products. The price is ridiculous for such quality.
