Bisteccheria Santa Croce - in Florence, Italy
On our first night in Florence we decided to make a booking at Bisteccheria Santa Croce via The Fork, as we didn’t know the area too well. We’re glad we did, as it was a busy restaurant and popular with both tourists and locals alike. We opted to sit outside which was lovely, in the shadow of the beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce. The service throughout the meal was very efficient and friendly, and the ambience was lovely too.The food was excellent, and very good quality. The Antipasti board we started with was absolutely huge, and featured so much high quality charcuterie - a must if you’ve got an appetite! The main courses were also fabulous, my Wild Boar Ragu Pasta was delightful and full of flavour. The Tiramisu was a delicious end to the meal, alongside a shot of Limoncello! We throughly enjoyed our meal at Bisteccheria Santa Croce, and I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a good value meal out in the sometimes pricey Florence.
I have to be honest, i was looking for a simple and delicious lasagna and after looking at the reviews i tried my luck here and wasnt disappointed!I had such a great Lasagne that i wished I couldve ordered one more. :and also the Aperol Sprizz I ordered was in such a huge glass that it took me over an hour to empty it 🤣I also liked the location a lot, a great spot to enjoy your dinner at sunset in front of the Piazza. The staff was also professional and caring :)So its all worth the visit for not too much money. <3 grazie di tutto
THIS IS AMAZING!! You MUST try it!!! Everything is truly tasty - pizza, carbonara, lasagna, EVERYTHING!! Simply exceptional!
Delicious food and lovely staff, we ate there 2 nights in a row and everything was fresh, with quality ingredients and absolutely tasty!
The food was very bad, wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Poor customer service. Understand it is busy but you shouldn’t accept customers into the restaurant if you can’t handle the crowd. Took over 15 mins to take food orders.Waited for the food close to 45 mins or more just to be served grilled chicken with salad. Worst part they served us with a Tabasco sauce expired over a year ago. Found some other meat pieces in my food. . This restaurant isn’t recommended. Extremely disappointing given it was on trip advisor. The waiters did not apologise when we raised the problems, before paying the bill another waiter apologised.
A really good meal. and excellent and friendly service.Highly recommended
I tried an excellent steak. I came looking for the traditional bistecce a la florentina and I am not disappointed. Prices are high but it is normal here in Firenze.
Service was very good, and the food was delicious
Very good Florentine steak as well as other options such as pizza pasta salads. Good service, relaxed outdoor seating. A few steps from but off piazza Santa Croce -- so not as hectic as places in the main tourist stream. Authentic atmosphere, food, reasonably priced. A very good choice.
We ordered a veggie platter with melted cheese and minestrone soup. The flavor was ok. 3€ cover charge per person was a bit higher than some restaurants we visited around the same area.
Good meal. Close to fantastic Santa Croce place. Very good service. May be more touristic place.
That steak was just to die for!Cooked to perfection just for you. And had great flavours. The other food was also exquisite.
The team is amazing, the waiter was chating with us bcs we were into it, he would come and check a lot, but he wasnt bothering at all, he would recommend what to get and how much of it you should get.The food was overall very good, a great selection of appetisers, wines and main courses, the view was amazing, dining near 700years of history next to you is amazing. The experience was 100% excellent, if you go to Santa Croce this place is a must.
The wild boar pasta that I had was delicious. My family also enjoyed pesto pasta and pasta pomodoro. We almost ordered some to go because it was so good.
Amazing steak with a good view:)
Wonderful food, great service,Spaceful sits and refreshing location!
Unfortunately it was an unpleasant experience. It took over an hour to get our food, our table was next to a sewage drain on the street that smelled terrible, and when our food finally arrived the expensive Florentine steak was cold and tough. It was so disappointing.
Steak and pizza. A bit pricey. Touristy. Great service. In ZTL: a bit quieter than rest of zones.
Omg. What a beautiful little place. We sat outside and the view is anacing. Right by the church as the sunset, watching the birds fly around before settling in forcthe night. The service was amazing. The food was too. We had the Lasagna with green salad, pork on the bone with grilled vegetables. Wow. Fantastic. We had the cheesecake to follow and coffee. Again wow. It was so good We went back the following night. I had the parmigiana and hubby had the steak. Again we were not disappointed. Please go here when visiting Florence. You will not be disappointed
La Fiorentina and the service were both excellent. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice too.
The waiters were very nice and sweet! Saw the sunset while I ate my dinner. The ragu was amazing and different from the other restaurants I’ve tried.
Asked for the steak to be well done and received it rare to medium. And it wasnt to good for a 70 euros steak
Great hospitality, great homemade pasta, super friendly staff!
Delizioso! Amazing service! Delicious food and even better wine list. A MUST visit in Florence.
Lovely restaurant, really kind and polite waiter. Ordered ravioli with fresh truffle and it was absolutely amazing. Exactly as I imagined.Tiramisu was really fresh, creamy and tasty. (It could be ordered for 2 as the portion is not so small).Lovely place. Happy to find it.
The inside is stunning, the service was very good throughout and they are so kind and attentive. Really top marks for this place.
This restaurant is amazing. My mom and I went there to have a typical Florentine steak when we were on our round trip through Italy and the evening we spent there was one of the highlights of the whole trip :)Great location, delicious food, and amazing and very forthcoming waiters... we enjoyed ourselves so much that we would have probably stayed the whole night if the restaurant didnt close at midnight 🥰The prices are a bit high but its totally worth it. We will definitely go there again next time we are in Florence 😁
We were advised by locals to never ask for a well-done Florentine steak but at Bisteccheria Santa Croce the staff was most accommodating. I had my half rare and they kept cooking the other half for my partner and they even brought it on a hot plate so that he could have it his way. The steak was delicious! Best steak Ive ever had. (No need for sides when youre having a 1,4 kg piece of meat)
Great food at a great price! We always come back multiple times when were in Florence. The service is the best weve ever had and the atmosphere is amazing.
Best food we have had in Italy! The staff was fantastic even with the language barrier. We had 3 courses and great drinks! Wine was quaint and cocktails unrivaled. Definitely recommend this as a must stop
Beautiful location and great food! Is not very touristic and you can definitely taste proper Tuscany specialities. The meat is really tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend!
a unique place. Alfonso is the best Italian service I have encountered. the food was delicious at a low price and the beer was pleasantly cold. I recommend this place with all my heart !!
Please do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere. It’s pricy and the food quality is really not worth the Italian cuisine justice. We sent the gnocci and salad back. Better do it at home!
The food was a little bit on the pricier side (14€ for pasta with pestoand not very good. My SO had the mentioned pasta, which she described as okay, I had a roasted pork ahank that was dry and also just tasted fine (potatos were good tho).Despite having an american express sticker, they didn‘t take AMEX.The waiter spoke in totalcfpur words. He wasn‘t rude, but he wasn‘t very friendly either. The „free“ bread you typically get literally tasted lile nothing. You also don‘t have a great view since you only see the churcg‘s side and not the front. They did have those sprinklers that Sprinkle water in the air to help you cool down a bit which was nice.In total, I wouldn‘t recommend going here but if you‘re just hungry and everything else is full a pasta here won‘t hurt you.
Located at the side of the Santa Croce cathedral with outside seating. Had the ravioli with fresh truffles, 23€, and tenderloin with fresh truffles, 35€, both well prepared with quality ingredients. (Yes, it was truffle night.)You have to put up with the aggressive sales pitch you get upon approaching a place like this, but that seems to be the world we live in...Otherwise, the service was brisk and friendly."Homemade" chocolate cake was probably not, but well leave it at that.
Amazing! The service was impeccable, a true 5* experience. The waiting staff were professional, discrete and yet present to assist with whatever we needed. The food far exceeded our expectations, we had a t-bone steak and it was brilliant quality and cooked to perfection. There was a lot of food so it took us a while to get through it and the waiters came over to check if wed like the steak heated through again, if came back to the table hot, but still not overcooked. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!
This restaurant is so good that I have eaten here twice in less than 24 hours! The owner/ manager is very friendly and accommodating. People with gluten sensitivity should come here, too. They were able to make a delicious meal for my partner who normally has some trouble finding gluten-free accommodations in the city. Free limoncello shots at the end of our meal made it extra special!
Worst meal of our 31 day trip thru Italy, france, switzerland and germany. Most anticipated meal of our trip as I wanted a good steak and I saved my euros up for Florence, supposedly thee place for Tuscan superior beef. Our T-bone was 70 euros and I had to spit half of it out cuz I couldnt chew it. I make better steak at home. Many restaurants in florence brag about having the best steak- dont waste your euros here
The best pasta weve had during our trip. Very quaint, good service, excellent wine and food. If you havent had truffles with pasta yet, this is the place. If you already have, do it again. Ravioli with truffles was out of this world good. Highly recommended!!
Great location. Quiet and off the beaten path. Right next to Santa Croce. The caprese salad was kind of bland. Florentine pizza was fine. Service was good.
Positioned next to the cathedral means that there is lots of tourists eyeing up the mountain of tasty food served at this restaurant as they pass by. Plenty of choice to suit all pockets and tastes, good service even when busy.
Fantastic experience overall. Our server Deborah was very attentive and knowledgeable. She recommended wine to pair with our meal and really made us feel welcome.Food was deliciously prepared and Bistecca alla Fiorentina was cooked to perfection.Dessert was also a highlight, being sweet but not sugary and overzealous for a cheesecake (light and fluffyand a crème brûlée that was without fault.Deborah really rounded out the experience ensuring we werent rushed and enjoyed every part of our meal.A must visit if youre after a well priced, relaxed Florentine dining experience from start to finsh.
Booked online a few weeks before visiting, taking advantage of a discount via The Fork app.We arrived and sat inside on an evening where the temperature was over 35 at 9pm, it was HOT.We ordered Classico Red and the signature Chianinio bisteccheria ... It was amazing, 1200g of medium rare BBQ crisped heaven. A side salad and tomatoes with olive oil and balsamic is all you need to complete this amazing dish. Recommended in every way, the wine was perfect for the meat and a finish to your meal with complimentary Limoncello. A great evening.
Frindly and polite staff, quaint and rustic little place. Tempo was fast and hectic alltough not many customers inside, the waiter almost returned to the kitchen with the bottle I bought. Funny and part from that it was all great smiles and condolecens of the heat ( 28 degrees at 22:00). ,Ordered the 0.6kg bistecca grilled at the chefs preference. Cant remember when I ate a steak without any sauce but it was delicious! My girlfriend had pasta witj tryffel sauce and chili - excellent. We finished with a tiramisu and got a complimentary limoncello. Game, set and match!
Stopped here on the second night of our honeymoon. We had the most thoughtful and hospitable meal at the restaurant. The bisteca Florentine was absolutely delicious, as was the pesto.Such a pleasant meal and excellent food!!
When we first entered, the waiter give us a very nice and friendly welcome. I ordered the prime beef steak and it was worth the price I paid. Lastly they give us a complimentary shot. It was good and strong. So if you like strong shot this is a good place to get a complimentary shots.
One of the highlights of our trip - would highly recommend the pasta dishes (especially the ravioli with truffle sauce). The service was great, our waiter was lovely and we kept ordering more! It was a sunny day so we could sit outside and admire the view as swallows flew ahead. Affordable, enjoyable and delicious. Thank you!
The steak was poorly marbled and more pink than red even while raw. They show you your steak before cooking, but if you have any concerns, they just insist that this is how the steak is. Steak was cooked rare as requested but lacked flavor and steakiness. If it had been a pork chop, Id have loved it, but it was not what I wanted from a 60 euro steak.Tomato soup dish was tasty but definitely more of a bread pudding than a soup in texture. This was almost certainly how the dish was intended but not what I assumed based on the name. The waiter also hovered the whole time we were choosing and made us feel pressured to choose quickly. Perhaps other dishes are better, but we wont be coming back.
For a normal price (€10-12you can get one of the best vegetarian pizzas Ive ever had. The cheese tasted amazing and the service was very good too
