What a place! Unfortunately city council rules are never clear, so its always a gamble to access the grass area or not (sometimes guys sit there and charge. If they insist, ask for a receipt at least). Better stay on the sidewalk and enjoy an ice cream from the guys with the ice bikesUpdate: rules are clear now, pay 1000 to enter the beach/garden. Since the water rose, the beach and green planes are not that great longer.

Entrance fee is 1000tsh, for an additional 10k tsh you get to go for a boat ride from bismark rock to rock garden beach and back towards the rock, where a guide helps you navigate and climb to reach the top. Where appropriate foot wear, it gets a little bit slippery.Lastly enjoy the view from the top.

Very beautiful place. Its unfortunate its poorly maintained though. Litter all over and the rocks are a toilet (we experience lots of males coming to relieve themselves thereas a result the rocks are very filthy.

Nice history of Tanzania colonial era

It worthy visiting. They have a well attended garden with plastic chairs. Boats are available for ferrying visitors to different islands at a very reasonable prices. Good breeze.

The rocks are nice to sight viewing. Although they need to work on the grass and the safety of people around the lake waters.

Rock City

Beautiful place.When I passed by, I was getting harassed quite aggressively and repeatedly by a group of young guys asking me for money. Never happened anywhere else in Tanzania in more than two months.I guess inside after paying the 1000 shilling entrance fee youre safe.

You wanna experience the sunset while in Mwanza? This area should be the right place for you for just 1000 TZS entry fee, for gardeners.

Must visit when in Mwanza City. The area is a bit crowded as it also serves as a parking area for ferries. You can get great photos of the rock in the morning.

Beautiful spot to catch sunsets. Great apot for peoplwatching too. Close to the ferry terminal so high human traffic =trash.

A nice place to visit when in Mwanza carries a lot of history that goes back to the colonial times, close to the east african fish market and they also allow you to climb on the rocks not just view them from a distance. Would have given it a 5 star rating but we need to get more professional guides at that place that will get you to the places they initially promised

It is a historic rock since it has been standing freely even after a lot of human trials to make it fall...check on the photos to see the rock the way it stands

This is one of the touristic attractions in Mwanza due to its history. There are hired boat rides that can take you to the rock or around it, you can also climb to the top where you will see the legendary spears of one of the local chiefs who had supernatural powers.

The rocks show Gods amazing creation of nature... the Lake Victoria also adds up the beauty as the rocks look like they are floating above 💦...

This is the best place to take your lover..1st it has a good view of the second largest fresh water lake in the world (lake Victoria).2nd beautiful stones laid on waters in the lake shore example been like the popular Bismarck rock.3rd the coolest,clean and beautiful garden in the same same spot...I have enjoyed.. Its very relaxing place and its found at the center of the city an it has cool beach air thou its small but its green and no food

They offer boat cruise services and ours was quite fun, went up to the nearest islands and learned about the fishermen. The tour is quite slow but if youre a team its cool to just have some fresh air on the lake. The rock is actually quite an amazing sight on all angles. Beautiful neat and tidy place, well kept.

One of the best place to chill in Mwanza

We went here to see what this is actually about..They take 1000shs as entrance to enter the garden and go view the the rocks closely.Tho the view is amazing and all. But more could be done to make it a must place to visit in mwanza.

Nice place so historical place

An impressive set of rock formation on the shores of Lake Victoria. If Mwanza needs a symbol that is uniquely Mwanza, this is probably it. There is a nicely tended garden bordering the shores where the Bismarck Rock sits, manned by a number of "Security Gardeners" who would demand 2000 TZS a person for coming onto the garden to take a photo. Not sure how legit this was though, given there were no signs.
