Florida, United States, Country Walk
Bayside park offering diving & snorkeling coral reef, boating & fishing, camping, gallery, museum.
This park is nice, its less noisy and less busy compared to the beach next door and theres been many different improvements done over the years 👍
I would rate this National Park in the top 25% and that may be because we had a wonderful experience kayaking with the Biscayne National Park Institute. Our guide, Jessidee, led us through safety measures prior to our 30 minute boat ride to Jones Lagoon and provided in-depth information on the history, biodiversity and geographical evolution and important role the mangroves and keys serve. Very few national parks are on water - very unique and relaxing experience!
Nice view, but this should be a county or state park. Nit that much do do unless you have a boat or have scheduled a tour. The trail is crowded with locals who bring wagons full of fishing gear, set up tents and chairs, hang out all day and block the trails.
A vast, mostly aquatic, park encompassing a number of Florida Keys a large area of adjoining bay waters and some of the Florida coastline. Fascinating natural habitats, wildlife, a number of recreational sites plus some intriguing backstory.
We did one of the boat tours to the island. The tour guide was great and gave a lot of great history about the park. The park was clean and the employees were very friendly. The park was absolutely beautiful.
so beautiful year round
Beautiful nature, spectacular scenery for relaxation and adventure.
Had a great time snorkeling. Be patient with taking photos. When youre in the water, youll constantly be rocking side to side or bobbing up and down. Remember to put a water resistant sunblock on your back! For the reefs sake, please choose a reef safe brand. Or roast like crazy like I did.
A fantastic and free national park you do have to pay for the tours on the boats which make sense but can be modestly expensive at 100$
We loved our time here ! Drove and walked around , learned a lot about marine life in the cinema room inside the visitor center. Being so close to the mangrove makes it even more special , you can actually see a lot of fish and turtles. We booked a boat tour to go all the way down to Boca Chita Key— best decisions!!! Both the guide and captain of the boat were super friendly, kind and gave a lot of history and information. The beach is spectacular and very clean. I would recommend this in a heartbeat if you’re spending some days in Miami. Great for toddlers and stroller friendly.
This national park is very unique, mostly underwater. But the concessionaires boat rides to the islands/keys are great. If you are not going to snorkel or dive, take the boat tour to Boca Chita, its well worth it. Overall a beautiful place.
Went on a snorkel excursion with Jess and Adam. They were absolutely wonderful and learned so much from them both, which added so much to the experience! We went to two different snorkel locations with plenty of time to explore each area! I highly recommend this experience.
Love the park, wish the trail was open at the time I visited. Next time will take the boat tour out. The visitor center is a must see.
Visit in 2016/17 New Year. Took a short trail😬
Gorgeous park! The Biscayne NP institute was great for taking us out exploring. The park was beautiful, very clean, highly recommend!!
I’m sure this is great park, but unless you spend extra $$, you can’t even really experience the park. I understand you do have to do this for others (ie, Dry Tortugas), it’s just unfortunate.I looked into a few tours, but it seemed like many of them didn’t want 3 year olds participating. There is a small walking path however the whole thing is closed for construction. The people in the visitors center were really friendly. The park store is pretty small. We ended up doing a 1.25 mile walk that isn’t part of the park, but part of a state park located within the national park.I’d only go back if we paid to do some type of adventure.
Loved this park! We did the sailing tour and it was definitely worth the money. We were also able to paddle board and snorkel. A must stop if you are in the area.
Amazing snorkeling experience! Even though we were unlucky with the weather and werent able to go to the coral reef, we had a really good time. We went "back country snorkeling", it was beautiful! We saw a sea turtle and 2 sting rays, a giant Goliath grouper, an Atlantic squid and many other fishes and corals.
This was the greatest gem of our entire 2 weeks in Florida. Had we realized what an amazing place this is, and how wonderful the boat tours are, we would have booked multiple days for Biscayne National Park. I highly recommend the boat tour, and I hope to do snorkeling and kayaking at a future visit.
Biscayne National Park was the best surprise of my entire trip to Florida! The park is mostly underwater which I was perplexed by until I took a snorkeling trip out to the mangroves. The mangroves were full of fish and wildlife and were so much cooler to experience than I imagined! The tour guides at Biscayne National Park Institute made the snorkeling experience amazing and I highly recommend booking a tour through them!
Beautiful park with lots of fun family activities. Attended a ranger program and took a boat ride out to the stilt houses.
Make sure to book tours in advance! There arent a lot of landside activities but there are great tours if you book ahead of time. We booked kayaking through the mangroves with an eco tour and saw an assortment of wildlife including a young Manatee that swam right beside us. Snorkeling is popular but we hadnt planned for that. It was a little disappointing for them to not have scuba equipment available through a vendor for organized dives.
Book a tour to the Boca Chica Lighthouse. There is nothing to see on land other than the visitor center, but if you book a tour, they will take you to the island with the Boca Chica Lighthouse. Its hard to describe in words, but the island and waters are absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The entire place felt like a place on a postcard depicting a tropical paradise.
Easily my favorite little hike in Miami. It has beautiful views and good people watching. When you’re done, one of the best restaurants are near by.
We spent a couple hours here on the mangrove paddling tour. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable, and the scenery was beautiful. Learning more about the park was fantastic. The mangroves were very interesting, and the water was beyond clear. We also got to see several manatees! My only complaint is not having enough time to visit more of the park. Amazing place!
This place is beautiful. We take our paddleboard and launch right by the visitor center building. Always has epic views, tranquility, and its amazing to be surrounded by so much nature.
We just kayaked in the bay, but it was so beautiful— Saw lots of birds, and the rangers and volunteers were so kind and helpful.Even went above and beyond to help with my Jr. Ranger badge 🥰
Fabulous park that has nature first in mind. Enjoy all sorts of water activities and there’s plenty of miles here to do that! Use the Biscayne National Park Institute to get out to the lighthouses or to get in the water kayaking.
We did several tours with Biscayne NP and we particularly loved the paddle tour with captain Kirsten. She is awesome!! She is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. She is attentive to everyone and has a passion for nature and animals. We were so lucky that day to hang out with a group of dolphins with pups, a few lemon sharks, a ray, some jelly fish and lots of fish near the mangroves.
Amazing experience with the kayak lesson. The park guides are so helpful and nice! It was beautiful, lots of birds!! Beautiful and well preserved mangroves.
We loved the snorkeling experience, great service from staff members. Amazing what this institute is doing to preserve one of the world’s famous alive coral reefs.
We did the sail, paddle, and snorkel experience. Our captain Carlos was awesome and gave us some neat information about the parks history during the ride to the keys. The sail boat ride was pleasant, though a tad long. We did spot a group of dolphins along the way so Carlos turned the boat around so we could get close to them. My husband and I expected to spend more time snorkeling than on the boat ride there. We did see some neat things while snorkeling including nurse sharks, eels and angelfish.
THE BEST SNORKEL EXPERIENCE EVER! We did the Small Group Snorkel excursion with 9 other people on board a great size boat and it was a magical day and experience. Loved it so much. BOOK NOW, SERIOUSLY. I’ve snorkeled most of FL and a few countries and this was amazing for beginner and intermediates. If you’re a native or a tourist you’ll enjoy this!
The park is free to enter as land based activities are limited. 95% of the park is water, so the best way to appreciate it is to pay for one of the activities, canoe/kayak rental or a boat trip out to Boca Chita Key (provided by the Biscayne National Park Institute). I would recommend booking on the Institute’s website as space on the boat is limited. The cost approx. $40 per person is excellent value.Do check out the Dante Fascell Visitor Center, it has an excellent exhibit and an informative movie. Enjoy the grounds around the VC, have a picnic lunch and check out what’s going on on the water.
Its alright in the park. The little info center is nicer. You can rent kayaks. A little store available. Id give it 3.5 but no option.
If National Parks are on your list then this one is a must see. Birds, beautiful nature and gorgeous water to relax and enjoy! Check out Ranger Gary, he is "in the know" about all things Biscayne. Thanks for the tour Gary!!
Great experience, a lot of things you can do here. Fishing, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving. Most of this national park is under water, so mostly you can do water activities. Boating and scuba highly recommended but I don’t recommend snorkeling here , as it’s really high prices and basically they take you to mangrove forest, water is not that much clear in swamp , so I recommend kew west for snorkeling, I liked snorkeling in reef than swamp.
Remarkable, one of a kind experience going paddle boarding and kayaking through the mangroves at this national park. We saw sharks, a stingray, a few sea stars, and loads of other wildlife.
Took a snorkle trip today. It was terrific! One snorkle on the reef and another in the shallows by a mangrove. Our Captain and First Mate took good care of us. Very informative and friendly. A great day.
We chartered a boat with Explore Miami Boat Rental for a 4 hour trip in Biscayne National Park. We spent time snorkeling and touring the area. Captain Tom was a great host. He is very knowledgable on the area and can give you lots of details or hardly any, depending on your interest. He also provided all the appropriate equipment for snorkeling and exploring, from fins and various snorkels to water shoes, bottled water and ice. Our group of 4 adults had a great time and would highly recommend Explore Miami Boat Rental for your adventure in Biscayne National Park.
Entrance is free... Great place to relax as its not crowded and great views. For the most part i think this national park is more of underwater so you have to get a guided tour to experience the NP. We just enjoyed what we can do with our free outdoor tour. Lots of birds to see... Couple people fishing and museum inside the park store/gallery.
Absolutely a great place to visit awesome staff great boat tour got to go it’s amazing if you’re close girl beautiful
Checking another National Park off our list!!95% of this park is under water.. only 5% is above water!!!Cant say that about any other Nati Park!!!
Went on a boat ride to snorkel near the magroves. Our guide Frank was very informative and environmentally conscious, which was an excellent addition. The weather ended up being favorable!! Saw lots of fish, unique coral and sea life and a bunch of lobsters! Life jackets were not mandatory, boat ride well, the was a shade on the boat, and water. Bring your own reusable water bottle and fill it up on the boat! It was great!
Biscayne National Park – I visited this National Park during my return trip from Key West. I spent 3 days in the Florida Keys and returned to Miami on the 4th day. And I visited Biscayne National Park on the following day. I didn’t have any plans to visit Biscayne or Everglades during my Key West trip. But then, we had a day in Miami and hence decided as why not visit Biscayne or Everglades. Everglades National Park is quite large and we don’t want to rush it in a day with a flight to catch at evening. Compared to it, Biscayne can be visited in a day.But then, we couldn’t do any of the outdoor activities as the sea was rough and the boat tours were canceled for the day. We walked along the jetty trail and the trail offers you a closer view of the red and black mangroves. The entire trail is a relaxing walk along the shorelines and line by the mangroves on either side. The trail also offers picnic spots and rocking chair to relax and unwind yourself enjoying the calmness of the sea. We spotted few ravens in the trail and few fishes in the waters.
It has a great walking trail right next to the water. You walk for about 1/2 a mile before getting to the end where you can sit on the rocks and watch the ocean. It is lovely choice for a nature walk to recharge your soul.
This is a great boating park. Multiple beaches and island camping spots. The water is clear throughout the bay system. Great fishing and diving or snorkeling areas, from the boat or even from land. Make sure to bring bug spray, as it is a must for most of the year. Clean and easily maneuverable harbors. Take a day or weekend long trip. This is a must visit!
Espectacular! We took the Boca Chita boat tour at 10 am.We love the tour, very interesting the history of the park. Boca Chita is beautifull. You can take your food and lunch there. There is a little beach on the island. We love the lighthouse (without lightand the ride in boat.Very relaxing. We are local and we are planning do more of the park tours.
This is one of the best places in miami. You’ll need a boat to get to the lighthouse, but is worth it. The water is cristal clear. Lots of fishes and wild animals. We saw a few turtles and sharks. You can go there and swim and have lots of fun with your family and friends.
Very nice park! Mostly underwater, so you need to do some type of tour, but it is totally worth it! During the off season we were two of five on a 40-some passenger boat! A bit pricy but you get a tour and all the information you want and need from the rangers and volunteers. Remember bug spray and sunscreen!
