Bimmah Sinkhole - Tourist attraction in Suhar, Oman
Nice place to visit and enjoy. Take care of youre not a good swimmer. Little bit cleanliness is required.
Good for swimming. But its crowded as we went there during local holidays. The park doesnt have much trees so that you can sit and relax under the shadow.
Nice little sinkhole. Short walk from the carpark. It gets pretty busy during the day.Better to go early morning or afternoon. Bring water. There is a fountain and bathrooms at the entrance.
The place is very beautiful and full of nature, the water is clean and transparent and very refreshing. Just wanted to say that the person who is taking care of the place is a very nice and kind person. Not sure if that is part of the Omani culture but he invited us to have tea time in his place and took the time to explain everything about his country and always keeping an eye on what we needed . I loved the time here
An absolutely phenomenal natural site. We spent 3 hours snorkelling/freediving here. Free entry. Plenty of rocks to jump off (if youre into that). Water temperature was a comfortable 28°C, in late-September. Definitely recommend!
Beautiful little hideaway. Good for swimming to cool off as it does get very hot during midday sun. Not much else around but good to see!
Absolutely amazing. Plenty of water even during summer months. Possible to go down and swim. There are small fishes who gladly help you with a pedicure so be silent and enjoy the amazing Spirit of this place. Many locals making noise, jumping from the sides of hole. It is only a matter of time when Omani government finds out how much these jumps are damaging the hole itself and close it for swimming. Dress modestly. As a foreigner I recommend to other foreigner women a one piece swimsuit or bathing in tshirt and shorts (cca knee length is the Bestbut it is up to you ofc :-)
Nothing much to say. Natural Attraction & place to swim. Not worth a second visit
Wonderful place to visit. One of its kind. Get free pedicure with the fishes in water 😄
This is a couple hours drive from Muscat but its a must visit. They have stairs that go down the sink hole and you can swim in the water. The water is very clear.
Bimmah sinkhole is an attraction in Muscat. Its an amazing place. Surrounded by very beautiful mountains. Good place to spend time with family. Children play area is also available. There is a washroom where you can change your clothes for swimming and all.
The place is truly beautiful as it is near the sea. The sinkhole surrounding area has been developed as a park so people can go there for picnic and kids can play as there are several swings and slides. Inside the sinkhole, it was heavily crowded. No guards is a matter of worry as if someone taking dips and jumps in water gets drowned there’s no one for rescue, so be cautious about that. The fish pedicure is real thing. You just need to be patient about them. Choose weekdays to go there as you’ll get more time and space to praise the beauty more.
Excellent place for a quick day trip from Muscat. There good beaches and wadi’s near by to explore. Perfect for a weekend trip.
Good area... Salty water.... Can swim
worlds most beautiful sinkhole 👌👌👌a giant hole and turquoise waters😍
What a beautiful creation of Almighty! A treat for eyes! The sink hole is amazing with pristine water. You can also get a free pedicure in it. I certainly enjoyed my time.Just to be wary, that there are many steps to climb down the bottom of the sink, something around 60-70, and in the summer, it gets very hot so be sure to hydrate yourself with electrolytes when climbing up! (especially for people with low blood pressure).
Nice to see place. I feel its not worthy to have a dedicated trip here unless you plan to visit some other places in this area. Maintenance is fine. NO resturents are available in this area. But there is a park within. Beaches nearby are nice.Parking is freeEntry is freeShould be probably dresses. No shorts , etc..
Youll get an awesome experience by visiting here, can have a good swim, small dives.NB : PACK YOUR FOOD - its the better option than look for restaurants at the last minute. And theres a resort nearby, so if you can plan well in advance.
The sink hole is amazing. A paradise for divers. It’s really deep (May be 20+ metersand water is crystal clear. It is located in the middle of a small park and there are washrooms and change rooms so that you can take a shower after swimming (the water in the sink hole is a bit salty). They have a parking area and there is no entry fee for entering the park. There are different types of fishes in the sinkhole.Make sure you wear proper cloths when entering the park as they security May stop you if the cloths are not appropriate. There are places to play for kids in the parks it can be a good place to visit with family.
This is cute little place but gets really crowded in after 10 so suggest you to visit this place around 8 or 8:30.. you need to start early from your place to reach here early and to enjoy the place to yourself. You can also enjoy free fish spa
Hired a car from Muscat. It took about 90 minutes to get to the sinkhole. Google maps was a big help. Plenty of spaces in the car park. We arrived late in the afternoon and it was very quiet. Sat with our feet in the water and got a free fish pedicure! Highly recommend a visit.
This has to be one of my favorite places in Oman. The view from there is amazing and hey have the place so well with clean washrooms and ample car parking area. Highly recommended.
This place is beautiful and natural. People who loves natural beauty must visit this place. A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. It is only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Ḑibāb and Bamah (Bimmah). The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone.[2] However, locals used to believe this sinkhole in the shape of a water well was created by a meteorite,[3][4] hence the Arabic name Hawiyyat Najm which means "the deep well of the (fallingstar". People dont follow rules and regulations which others will get into problem.
Its a fantastic spot for a swim. You also get a free fish pedicure if you stand still in the water. Just pray it isnt crowded before your visit.
A nice place to come and swim and escape the heat. No entry fee. A staircase leads down from the top to the water. A bit rocky wading in, but once in the water one can swim around. There are small fishes that nibble at your feet and body. You get one of those fish pedicures that people pay a lot of money for, but absolutely free.
Definitely worth a drive from muscut for the sceanaries and water surrounded by mountain. Its biggest natural sink hole with park. Enough place to rest and people do swim in the sink hole.
Very nice nature spot to visit. It safe to swim 🏊 there for all, males, females, and kids, at the first area. After that it gets very deep, but it is OK if you are a good swimmer. It doesnt have showers and change rooms. But there are toilets.Better bring with you water, towels, small bottle to use it to get a shower if you want. You can get clean water in the toilet area. Also bring your snakes as there are no shops in the area to buy anyting.Parking is easy.Bring food to the goats 🐐🐐 in the parking area 😉.
An interesting place where so many people around the world are visiting. Very good approach to walk inside the lower side. Really happy after visiting. But no any shop or vendor here needs attention.
Loved the viewWater was chill to have funMust try the spa fishes in the sinkhole. They work up on cleaning your feet😋Casual float and relax spot as it’s a dead sea type
Nice park and natural surroundings along with upbeat scenic view of sinkhole.
Good place to take a swim. No guard duty of course. Change in advance to respect the customary habits. Easy to go down by stairs. Enjoy the little fish in the water, nothing to worry about at all! Watch the slippery rocks when entering!
Definitely worth visiting! It was slightly challenging to find the way here, but you should be fine if you follow the signs. There is a parking lot at the site. From parking lot you need to enter the sinkhole park and walk 2 minutes to reach the sinkhole. Sign tells you to dress modestly in park. You can swim in the sinkhole, the water is nicely refreshing. The sinkhole is very deep at some points so proper swimming skills are handy. There are a lot of shallow places too.IMPORTANT: unfortunately people tend to leave their trash (plastic bottles etc.laying on the ground. We saw some bottles laying around and floating in the water even though there was a rubbish bin nearby. Please never ever leave your trash on the ground. We tried to be nice and picked up some extra litter to do our part in keeping the environment clean. You should too!
Beautiful natural place. A must visit place if you are travelling from Muscat to Alkamil. Right on the road and very convenient to visit.
Go there around noon. Because of the heat it is not the crowded like in the morning or late afternoon. The entrance is for free. They also have build some toilets on the ground.
A beautiful and unique place to cool down during the hot (after)noon. No entrance fee. The surrounding park (also partially under constructionis excellent to sit in the shade. It can be a bit busy (for Oman standardssince it is one of the main sights in all the guides.
Come prepared with swimming attire. The water is too tempting to not dip into.
Nice place with a garden, free parking and free entry. Several shades places for picnicking. You can swim in the sinkhole so bring your swimsuits. The only food option was a small stall at the entrance selling cookies and water. Deducting 1 star because there were few pieces of plastic floating in the water.
Amazing unique place. The water is clean and clear. You can go and swim to this wonderful big hole.
Beautiful Park. Visited this place on a Saturday morning. Sink Hole Park is open from 8am to 8pm. No much visitors during opening time. You are allowed to swim inside the sink hole at your own risk. The water is salty and there is ample space for playing and resting in the park. The park is well maintained. Toilets are available, no option for food, you can carry your own food inside and it it allowed.
There are public toilets where you also can change. There are however no food options, you cannot find any stalls or so. Drinking water is available. As for the sinkhole itself, it is allowed to swim (dress modestly!but it is not allowed to jump from the cliffs.
Beautiful place close to main road takes an hour to full visitHas play area for kids in park clean water to swim
It was our first time visiting a sinkhole. We had an amazing experience. Even though it was a beautiful place, the water didn’t appear clean. The steps were steep albeit not hard to walk if you took your time. It was easy to get to the sinkhole and plenty of parking for visitors. We found out there were lots of travellers just like us, stopping over as they head to Muscat city or to Sur, Turtle Reserve. It’s a lovely place as there are plenty of benches for picnics or just to rest. Our kids enjoyed spending time at the playground nearby!
At the midst of the noon and on working days youll be able to catch this empty hole. Beautiful. Bring sunscreen as there is almost no shade.
The sinkhole is in a park and the entrance is free. There is a parking outside the park. You can swim or Just relax and put your feet in the cold water of the sinkhole. Try to Come early in the morning. Otherwise its crowded.
Came in the midday and it was so quiet! Worth a visit on the way back from Wadi Shab. You will need a car to get here.
Not as exciting as the many wadi in the area. It can be visited in a few minutes walking around it but if youre looking for nice natural water streams, caves and waterfalls Id recommend wadi shab... not far away from the sink hole and worthwhile a trip from Muscat
Bimmah sinkhole is extremely beautiful and to be honest, breathtaking. But this is not a place where you can spend a lot of time, unlike wadi shab or wadi bani khalid etc.The entrance to the sinkhole is quite unassuming, as its just a small park with some rides. You need to take stairs to go down. You can swim there for a bit and take a few pictures and thats about it.Keep it as a part of your visit to other attractions in the neighbourhood like wadi shab as its definitely not a place you should come specifically to visit, all the way from Muscat.
This is one of the best place to do picnic . Bring your family or friends and have some food to eat together .
Its a must visit destination in muscat near to Sur.A star fell there become a deep sunkhole so its too high.you can visit here without any charges also there is small park for relaxing.Everyone who is going to Muscat should visit sinkhole. The water inside is little salty and the depth is gradual so kids also can enjoy this.Small fish will give you first pedicure experience. It was really amazing experience. Thanks to Oman government.
It’s okay for one time visit. You will love this place in winterWater is very clean…Steps are very steep… take care of kids..
