Zoo for viewing, feeding & handling native & exotic animals, with playgrounds & picnic areas.
The talk & show by the Big cats lady Christy was awesome & informative. The cats all have great respect & love for her. Currently they have 2 snow leopards, 3 lions & 2 cheetahs (brothersall so well cared for. The man at the Front desk was helpful with advice also.
Wow what an amazing zoo. This place is beautiful and the animals are looked after really well. The animal habitats areas were amazing. We absolutely loved it here thank you so much for a lovely day. You will feel welcome here by yourself, with your partner or with family. We will come back here for sure.
Highly recommend this zoo if you want a first experience for a first time seeing a zoo I highly suggest this zoo has all the animals that you want to see. Ps I took these photos on a iPhone 11 :)
Great place to take your time and wander around freely. Had some good fun with some of the bird enclosures that talk back to you! Didnt get to see the crocodile or the Lion, and most of the kangaroos were already well fed by the afternoon. Recommend attending earlier than mid afternoon as the sun was behind most of the animals and made it difficult to see some of them through the glass.
Loved stopping in to visit this Zoo! Great customer service and awesome to feed the kangaroos!!
Walking around billabong zoo was great. The cafe its another story, ordered 2 coffee, 1 croissant took 10/15 min to come out. Croissant came out burnt.Lunch, we ordered 3 bowls of chips $9.00 a bowl? 2 600ml coke $9.00.This is my my gripe for the the day.
Great place for friends parties and family lots animals all well lookwd after easy to get around gotta see the croc lions many more from around Australiaincluding a breeding koalas well worth it food and a place put of the hot sun to eat the the staff was all. Friendly wheelchair around well worth the trip.
Animals very active and happy especially in the morning. Was well worth the extra $50 to be able to tong feed the Snow Leopard with venison and chicken drumsticks.
We were a large group of 8 and everyone had a great time. Staff went above and beyond and were just awesome, what a credit to the family run facility. Our boys did the Koala Experience and it was so worth it, they said it was "The best ever". Highly recommend a visit.
Many active animals. Worthy visit.
A good way to spend a few hours, with lots of different animals to look at. My wife especially enjoyed seeing the lions. The downside was the cafe was very expensive and there no toilets at the back of the park.
Small zoo very close to Port Macquarie (15 mins from town). We managed to cover the entire place casually with 2.5 hours including spending time for a croc show and feeding kangaroos/wallabies. Rates are reasonable and it is fun for the kids. Some enclosures are small relative to the animals held (but then again you have to question the concept of a zoo, which isnt something I enjoy a lot knowing that the animals are trapped).
Great zoo, you get way closer to the animals than at larger zoos. Very accessible with a pram. Go early to see the big cats in action in the morning. Croc show is a must.Keeper talks not back in action yet due to Covid (July 22which was a shame, but on the whole, an excellent experience.
Love this place. Awesome how up close and involved you can be with the animals. The lions are besutiful and lion keeper is so dedicated and informative. Bought an annual pass so I can go often.
Great time with the family and it is a must do for any family or couple who visits Port Macquarie.I also did the Red Panda feeding and got up nice and close to them for an experience I will never forget
Love this place ❤️ highly recommend!I would say get there early to see the feeding shows and close up in counters with the wildlife and talk shows. Can sit with wallabies and feed them 🥰 you wont regret a visit here.
This was a surprise hit with the kids. Definitely better value than some of the larger alternatives around the country. Lots of very interesting animals here, and its clear they are well taken care of. Your young kids can hand feed kangaroos here, and for the bolder there are interactive sessions. I loved the cheetahs. The food was also excellent, but I recommend ordering this before you or the kids are really hungry, as our food took about an hour to come out. Otherwise exceptional, and well be back if we are in town.
Great little zoo. We enjoyed that you could Qr code all the different animals and watch a video about them . So it added to the experience. We where super lucky and all the animals where up and about. It took about 2 hours to slowly walk around and sit and watch the animals and talk about them with the kids .Dont worry about buying food for the kangaroos as they are already full and dont want it . Especially loved the snake enclosures and how they have set the scene as to where youll find the snakes in the outback.
Nice easy walk through the zoo, enjoyed it.
To be honest I was very disappointed. The whole place seems to have become run down over the years ….. needs weeding and a very good deep clean. The animals seem extremely depressed. Food took roughly 40 mins to come even tho it wasn’t busy.
I have visited the zoo numerous times. A few issues need addressing. Maintenance on concrete paths needed especially near Koala enclosure, trip hazard. Some animals and birds need more winter sun. Maybe more stimulation for more active animals would create happier creatures. The garden areas could be revamped a bit but this may be due to recent floods. Children seem to enjoy experience
Easy to walk around great variety off animals and beautiful flowers
Really nice family getaway. Cafe and food eating area could do we with a bit of an update but overall nice experience with nice animals. We did the chetah feeding session for a bit of fun.
Visited the zoo last Saturday - highly recommend as an outing for adults as well as children - lots to see in an easy walk around the many enclosures. Friendly knowledgeable staff willing to answer any questions about the various exhibits. Great day out.
Very well organised place, friendly staff, animals look happy
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! A wide range of well looked after animals. Highlights for me was the lion enclosure and Snow leopard and cheetahs and the brilliant talks that went alongside! Lionel at reception was incredibly welcoming and I would recommend for any familys day out.
Billabong zoo and wildlife park is beautiful, the lay out of the zoo is very easy to get around...Its very neat and tidy, all the animals look fantastic...The only thing missing was eastern grey kangaroos , all staff where friendly and helpful.
The zoo itself was fantastic but I cant believe that a cafe can run out of most of the dishes on the menu by 12.15pm. What we did end up eating was lovely but when catering for crowds, they should be stocked up with ingredients.
My son and I have been coming here since he was in a pram. The place has grown very well and the added new animals with Lions and so on really add to the treat. Well worth a visit
Zoo was great, kids loved feeding the wallabies, good mix of animals would definitely recommend.
Seeing tiny mokeys was exciting but more and more animals in cages without companions saddens me 😢
We had a great morning at this zoo it is great for the littlies as it is flat and easy to walk around. The crocodile show was spectacular, biggest crocodile I’ve seen! The zoo is small onscale compared to others but we really enjoyed it. Probably only took a few hours to walk around and have lunch. The staff were really great and the food was excellent in the cafe.
Havent been since my eldest was 11 months old (now 13and its still a great zoo. Its well set out and easy to navigate. Two staff in the entry/souvenir shop was very welcoming and all the keepers were happy to have a chat..
Billabong Koala Park is a great day out either for the family with kids or just a couple pretty of Animals to see & you can even take the time & experience to feed them.Once done you can grab a coffee & cake or have some lunch awesome place great staff well worth a visit.
Best zoo that we’ve ever visited. The staff are very friendly and generous. We will definitely be back.
Wonderfully maintained wildlife park. Miss 4 enjoyed it (as did Mum and Dad)
Amazing zoo. A great place to visit when you are in Port Macquarie. Loved the fact that they offered close animal encounters with rare animals.
We had a fantastic time here. Great range of wildlife, and you get to see them up close too.
Pretty cool zoo. Small, but there is quite a lot to see. Bonus points for being able to feed the wallabies and some other other animals like the emu.
I was really pleasantly surprised...I dont like zoos but the children do and we spent a really enjoyable morning here. Animals were well cared for and often were injured and recovered animals which could not survive in the wild anymore. Yes, a delightful visit
Really enjoyed our time here! All up spent roughly 6 hours even though it’s not necessarily a huge zoo. I was lucky enough to do 4 of the animal encounters and they were brilliant. The crowd wasn’t too busy which was perfect (I can’t imagine peak holiday times would be too enjoyable). The vibe from the staff was pretty happy, chill and friendly - I really liked it.There were a few news areas being built and some things not running which makes sense given Covid but still an awesome time.
Wow!! This was my third visit to Billabong Zoo and by far the best experience I’ve had visiting a zoo. I arrived shortly before 9am and used one of my NSW Discover vouchers. The zoo keepers were so friendly and engaging. I saw zoo keepers feeding the penguins, red pandas, dingos and cassowary. It was my first time to see a joey in their mother’s pouch. Very cute. I was pleased to see the koalas all awake first thing in the morning and one of the wombats doing their exercise. I stayed for a few hours in the morning and left by lunchtime. The carpark was full by the time I left. If you go, try visiting around 9. The zoo gets busy by around 11. I highly recommend visiting Billabong Zoo.
Delightful place to get up close and personal with the animals. You can walk amongst the kangaroos and wallaroos and wallabies! And feed them by hand!Try to get there as they open at 9am and go straight to the koala breeding centre. They feed the koalas first thing in the morning, so you can see them active - which is unusual; koalas sleep most of the time. The keepers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Dont hesitate to ask questions and engage them in conversation.
Its a great place to see the animals up close and in good condition. All enclosures are very clean, well maintained and linked by pathways easily traversed (even by wheelchairwithin a nicely compact and beautiful, somewhat tropical setting complete with ponds and shady trees.
Found this place on google while looking for things to do in port Macquarie to take a break from long drive. Great range of animals. Lions were a trip, Snow Leopard is gorgeous. Staff were friendly and gave a few facts on some of the animals. Was impressed with the cost of entry. Only criticism is we were hungry and kitchen was closed before 2.30. Loved the covid-19 safety practises, very grateful for that
A colleague and I took a disability client to this wonderful place today and we had a blast. Very educational despite keeper talks being cancelled due to Covid19. The service from staff was incredible. One keeper got a treat to encourage the lion to come to the fence for the client to see. Without prompt. Which just made the clients day. While another keeper stopped their work to help us enter the koala area with had been temporarily obstructed. Once again, without us asking. The only issue we ran into was the difficulty to use the wheelchair. While we could get around the zoo, we found many uneven areas or a couple of steep slopes which my stronger colleague needed to get the chair past. This would have been too difficult for me to do myself without the client either exiting the wheelchair or missing an exhibit. The pathways existing are sound, they just need some maintenance. All in all, was a wonderful day out and we look forward to visiting this establishment again in the future.
A great little zoo. Good facilities and great exhibits and enclosures. The best thing is the way you can see most of the animals even when not out and about due to the design of the enclosures.
Although there were no presentations or keeper talks due to covid, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the billabong zoo. You can still book and pay for the "encounters", but that didnt seem necessary for a good time. You can get up really close to all the animals, we especially enjoyed the fairy penguins, snow leopard, red panda, lions and cheetahs. You may need to do a few loops to see the animals in action but I he park is very manageable. We spent a little over two hours here and that was enough.
A very beautiful well-maintained park on level ground with good access for all abilities. Friendly, interactive and knowledgeable staff. And of course being up close and personal with a wide range of animals was a special experience. Two hours - tops!
The place is fantastic especially if you have young kids. Its not a huge zoo so you are not going to have to walk too far before you see the next animal. Was very impressed with how they handled COVID as they were unable to do the feeding shows or information shows. But they had all staff out in the field happy to tall to you.
