Contemporary European chain dishing up separate breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus.
We went to Bills in Covent Garden, ordered the big brunch and it came cold. Ordered 2 sets of the stacked pancakes and asked specifically for no bacon and both meals came with bacon. They offered us fruit instead without telling us it was an extra £2 each. We got 3 blueberries, about 3 slices of banana and half a strawberry. After saying I had a strawberry allergy mine still arrived with strawberries and we asked for no bananas on one and still ended up with banana. Pancakes were also very dry. Asked if we could take service charge of the bill and our waiter was very kind about it, however the woman that served us then walked around looking very annoyed making comments us.
Fantastic service by a very warm and friendly team. Ingrid and Matthew were both delightful and helpful, we had such a great evening!! Thank you to the team who were obviously working very hard to maintain a great service despite it being very busy :)
Poor service. Waited 15 minutes before my pre-booked table became available for four of us. After another 15 minutes at the table without anyone coming to take an order for drinks or food, we left. We didnt even get the chance to ask for them to remove the dirty cutlery from the table that had barely been wiped after the previous customers. Unfortunately we were not the only ones who took this action before any food arrived.
Ambience, menu, staff, qualitt and pricing ... it all comes together. I love these places they have. Its well thought about, perfect break during the day in a lovely ambiance. Some hidden gems in this world city. This one is 2 minutes away from Govent Garden ... pay them a visit.
Had a fantastic 3 course meal here tonight. Met at the door by a charming and very happy smiling young lady, who noticed wed been to see her favourite musical so we had a lovely chat. We was then introduced to our French waitress who was also very happy and smiling and also noticed wed been to the theatre and asked what we thought, she said shed be going on our recommendation. These 2 young ladies are an asset to your restaurant.
Booked a table for 2 at 6pm on a Thursday in January. Was really surprised at how busy it was! Great atmosphere. Lovely food. Interesting decor. But the tables are too closely packed, so Ive knocked off one star.
Chic place for breakfast in excellent location. Lovely Eggs Benedict and Pancakes.
The dinner is quite expensive (small size meals, £50 per 4 people). A good meal to order is "roasted half chicken with garlic and chilli" - only £14 and not bad taste. The location is good, especially for the Lyceum Theatre visitors, but the service was slow, so we barely went on time.
Great food, fast service once theyd decided who was looking after what tables
The place is cool, the food was good enough. But I must say I was a bit unpleased that three of six persons persons at our table received their food probably 15 minutes before the rest of us. In addition one of us asked for a burger without tomato, they forgot that. On top of this the waitor spilled drinks all over the table when she came serving the drinks. They do have some areas where they need to improve.
Tasty, healthy brunch & cosy interior
We visited bills on Sunday afternoon. Despite it not being busy we were waiting for a quite a long time to get seated, then drinks, food. Waitress mixed our order so we had to wait another 10 minutes for the right one. While paying for the food at the end waitress decide to disappear and we were served by someone else. Really shocking service. Wont be going back
My girlfriend and I came to bills last night to celebrate our 1 year anniversary at 5pm. We’ve been to bills many times before so thought it would be the perfect place to have our anniversary dinner. In the special request notes it was made evident that it was our anniversary. 10 minutes after we were sat another couple were sat, at this point our waitress approached them first and we still hadn’t been seen to, once we were approached we ordered and I’m sad to say that the best service we got all night was our drinks order. When our starter came and we were eating there was no check back, and even after we finished our plate wasn’t taken for 10+ minutes, in fact it only got taken by a different waitress because we paced it on a table next to us. However the couple in our section that got seated after us had their check back and even got their starter plates taken straight away when they had finished. Our mains came and I wasn’t happy with me at all, my steak was burnt, not chargrilled but burnt. And my chips had obviously been re-fried and tasted like cardboard. We again didn’t have a check back and our plates weren’t cleared, we asked for the bill and before we even got the change to mention the food our waitress ran off. When I did get to mentions unhappiness with the food I was met with ‘oh sorry’. There was no attempt at resolving my issue at all. Now why was it that our waitress was extremely attentive to the table next to us but couldn’t be even slightly attentive to us? The waitress we had was tall, had mousey brown hair in a low pony tail, round glasses and had winged liner on last night. I was going to approach who I thought was the manager but she also looked like she didn’t care much about the service her staff are giving. As we were leaving another waitress who was stood by the door looked my girlfriend and I up and door. She had a dark brown / black bob and was of average height. To say I’m disappointed in bills would be an understatement, we used to love bills, but quite frankly after last nights terrible service and not so lovely food, it’s unlikely I’ll want to come back. Thank you for turning a special evening and special restaurant for us into nothing but terrible.
Went in at around 6 for dinner before a show and they had already run out of the daily special. Food was OK but I asked for my burger medium and it was pretty well done. Service was also OK but slow and could be better, e.g. we were given a ketchup bottle that was basically empty. Not terrible but was expecting more for the price to be honest.
Visited on Monday October 14 with my family, following my youngest daughters graduation. Lovely atmosphere, great food and such friendly staff. They found out why we were celebrating and gave us a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. It was such a wonderful end to a lovely day. Thank you! We will definitely go back.
Customer service good, food is satisfactory; halloumi burger could do with more halloumi.Great pre theatre spot. They ask for any allergies on entry which is great.
Very busy Saturday 5:30pm, even queue building outside but luckily I reserved a table so we got in and was shown to our table quickly. Staff were nice and friendly. The place looks busy inside but nice setting. The place could do with tidying esp our table where the chandelier wall lamp needs urgent cleaning/ dusting. Our food and drinks came out together as we requested. Lovely crispy calamari but the mains (steak and eggs, and green currywere ok. We’ve had better steaks and green curry. We would have ordered desserts and tea as we had an hour to go before theatre show starts but to flag a staff down took 25mins minutes. In the end we gave up dessert and asked for the bill.Overall we got our food but the experience and food didn’t wow us. If you want to eat here during dinner period then I suggest reserving a table.
Good food and service. I was impressed. Neat ambiance. Plenty of seating.
Came for breakfast and was very pleased. Had the Avo toast which was delicious, a green juice and a coffee. The service was good and the food came out fast.Would definitely recommend stoping in if your looking for a delicious breakfast
I used to love Bills as it was a reliable and affordable choice in London. Sadly, the standards have been slipping for a while now. The service was never good across their central London locations, but it was worth coming for the food.Since last year, the quality of the food has deteriorated. The menus dont really work and the combinations of ingredients, which used to be inspired, are now just haphazard. The sourcing also seems to have gone downhill. The food seems cooked in a hurry. I hope this is just an episode, but I do think the menus need reconsideration and the cooking needs to be more attentive.
I had the pan fried chicken with wild mushroom sauce and my mum had the oak smoked spiced ribs. The chicken was nicely cooked but the mash was cold and the rest of the meal was only warm. There wasnt a lot on the plate. The ribs was a generous portion and they were fantastic. The staff were great they were very helpful and polite which made the experience better.
Love bills! Was in London for a few days training and stumbled across this Bills restaurant. Normally I visit for breakfast but this time I ate dinner. I was on my own but the staff were great and really made me feel welcome. Food was lovely and the restaurant was great too. Very clean. Plus it was right next to the theatre I was going to so handy too.
When we visited for lunch it was very busy and it showed as they were stretched. To give credit they managed well and staff were doing their best and provided good service. Food as expected from chain restaurants so all good. Fairly standard but thats not a bad thing .
The food was awful. Somehow they made avacado, poached egg and smoked salmon taste of a absolutely nothing. The service was dire too. One of our party was left with no food after wed all received ours. They didnt calculate the bill properly. One member of staff grabbed me by the wrist on my way to the bathroom and tried to jokingly pull me into the kitchen. It wasnt funny.
Booked ahead, was welcomed very friendly and served by a lovely, chatty, efficient server. Food was nice, well presented and very good. Only negative is the amount of Salted Caramel on the desert menu: 3/4 of listed including a apple crumble. Why would you put salted caramel in apple crumble?? Real shame
The veggie breakie is the best thing. Absolutely delicious, everything was fresh and it is pleasing knowing youre doing your bit for the planet. Service is very friendly, if a little American and overdone. Restaurant is clean, welcoming and spacious.
Beautiful decor here, modern contemporary with a touch of class and with a twist of antique. Staff greeted with smile and joked along with us, food arrived very fast, slightly small portions but quality made up for this, especially how the flavours burst in your mouth, perfect amount of sauce and seasoning and the dessert was mouth wateringly delightful. Look forward to our next visit!
I wish I could give Bill’s a higher rating.Read so many raving reviews about the place and came with my boyfriend for Saturday brunch. We booked in advance and ordered a garden plate and a bill’s plate. Both of them came super fast (less than 5 min), but as we started to eat we felt they were cold - which makes me wonder how long have they been waiting to be ordered.Staff is friendly and place is cute. But for cold food I won’t be back.
Very good place for a relaxed weekend brunch. Prices are average, plates are well prepared and delicious. A special praise to the staff, very welcoming and attentive when serving you. Will recommend to reserve a place, even if big it gets crowded very easily.
we arrived early when the place had just opened. staff were accommodating and allowed us to order food in the drinks area near the bar. staff were friendly and our orders taken quickly. tea was ordered and a large pot was given which gave me about 4 cups. breakfast was average price for central London. good was hot and good quality. Id normally prefer a bit more but all thats just me being greedy. toast was lovely and crispy, overall the place was light and spacious. good for just a coffee or a full meal.
Great place for dinner & drinks before a performance. It was busy but our delicious drinks and food came quickly (highly recommend the English country garden cocktail). Served by a fab waitress named Leonore, she could see we were last minute and in a rush for the show so was very understanding and quick to serve us. Her friendly, approachable and bubbly persona made our short but sweet time utterly enjoyable. We will be back!
This was an amazing experience. My wife and I wanted to try British food and we were glad we came here. We have come back a couple times within a few days because everything we have tried here was so good. The breakfast tea is a good value for the amount you get and taste phenomenal. The customer service was excellent too.
Stopped in with friends who recommended this place. Lovely lunch with lots of gluten free options.
We held a large dinner at Bills (31 peopleand the managers and staff were outstanding! Rochelle and Mohit helped coordinate everything, and went above and beyond to help us organize everyone. Food was great and everyone had a lovely time. They are very accommodating for dietary restrictions as well. Highly recommend!
Great stylish dinning experience. Simply amazing. Staff very attentive food hot and tasty wine. I highly recommend Bills. Now I will visit the Maidstone once soon so a review for that will follow soon.........
very good food, friendly staff and cool looking place, very relaxing.. excellent breakfast
Such a good breakfast! We all loved it... So we went back the day after 😊 Delicious food and friendly people working there! Well be back next year!
went with a large group for a mealStaff were pleasant but the food was nothing special to be honest. For its price I would say fair value and they coped well enough getting 24 of us served (we had pre-ordered). Food choices were fine and varied enough to please the whole groupIt was not too busy for a Friday and guess it is somewhere I might go back to if I was in that corner London
Pretty disappointing. I usually love Bills restaurants but this one was really a let down. We had booked a table for 7pm, but they spent 25 minutes clearing the table and so we didnt sit at our table until almost 7:30. The food was very meh, most of the staff were good but seemed kind of stressed and annoyed. The desserts were very good though! There are definitely better branches of Bills.
Had a great time, we went in London to watch Lion King and the restaurant is right next to the theatre. The service at Bill is a great and the food is awesome. They cater to allergies and had a great selection of food on the their gluten free menu. All in all would defiantly come back to this restaurant.
I chose this place for meeting a friend for breakfast on a Saturday morning as I knew it would be quiet and comfortable.I did not expect something amazing food wise. But neither I did expect it to be so poor. I was charged £32 for two people and the food was tasteless. The coffee was clearly not made by a barista and I apparently do not have the same definition of a freshly squeezed orange juice. The only good thing was the service. But frankly avoid this restaurant.
Great food, great service and absolutely amazing team and environment.
Had a pre theatre dinner here. Busy night. Staff couldn’t have been more attentive. Many thanks for offering a bigger table to accommodate my husbands dodgy leg and for retrieving my scarf! Great atmosphere. Great food. Best fries I’ve had for ages and Bill’s burger was enormous. Too full to try the desserts - perhaps next time. Good prices for a London’s restaurant. Tap water offered with no fuss, which makes a change from some restaurants. Could not fault it.
Great food and atmosphere! One of the well known Bills place restaurants with reasonable prices and delicious food and sales.Bills beer always served in ice cold glass and there is a quite good selection of wines! This place is ideal for lunch or dinner especially when you dont want to spend a fortune! The service is good and fast !Very helpful and polite staff will help you choose delicious dishes from the menu!
Amazing! The coolest place I have ever been for a spot of breakfast. The decor is cool, the food is great with generous portions. Would highly recommend.
Went to dinner due to almost no one in the restaurant. And it was very disappointing. The waitress brought a warm bottle of red wine and didnt ask for tasting and straight start pouring to glasses on the next empty table and serve us from there. Then the wine was off due to poor storage under warm weather, and I flagged that to their manager. The manager just brought a ice bucket for red wine !!! And telling me it will get be fine In a few minutes. I was shocked, and telling them it wont helped and explained to him why and what he needs to do since I got a wine tasting degree. Then the managers attitude was pretty bad, he refused to believe me and told me off by saying all of his wine were stored in this condition. Im shocked again. Nothing compensated afterwards. The food was alright. But the service was pretty horrible. Will never come back again.
My wife and I had visited a Bills in Brighton and only having a little time in London, figured wed go to somewhere wed previously liked. Quite honestly, we were extremely disappointed with the overall quality of the food and service. We had initially attempted to go for dinner at another location but they were fully reserved. Bills on Wellington had very few customers in it and I cant certainly understand why. The servers were inattentive and took a long time to complete anything. The food left a lot to be desired - and it took a long time to get to us. Definitely would not visit this location. Other Bills restaurants weve gone to (Brightonhave been fantastic!
Bills is amazing. Great food and amazing ambiance. Will definitely visit again
Good food at reasonable prices although they automatically add a service charge. Went on a Saturday at 6:45pm, the place was busy with a good atmosphere. Friendly staff and quick service.
Came New Years Day and the service was wonderful. The staff was limited and they did an amazing job making sure all tables were tended to. They have free WiFi. The prices arrive really reasonable dont want to say cheap, but really affordable. The food was flavorful, hot, and just great!
