North Gate Hall, St Michael's St, Oxford OX1 2DU, Ewo
Contemporary European chain dishing up separate breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus.
Very nice staff and a really enjoyable atmosphere, the food was lovely and unique but still accessible. Breakfast is delightful, our only regret was not making it in for whaf were sure is an excellent lunch!
Great location, food. Professional staff, value for money. Ill be back
When we visited the place was packed and we had a short wait for a table. I was anticipating slow service, but we had our order taken promptly. The food arrived fairly quickly and was to a high standard, generous portions too. There was a wait to get the bill but it wasnt too unreasonable. The staff were clearly very busy but were friendly and polite. I would definitely visit again. The price was about in the middle for Central Oxford.
The staff were Lovely, especially a man called Max. He was very helpful and kind, and looked after us very well. But, the food was okay and could have tasted better. My friend was not that keen on the jackfruit salad, and they did not even clean the plate before serving it.The halloumi in my burger was not warm. And the Oreo milkshake was very small for its price (and tasted like chocoalte mush w milk). The atmosphere was nice, that cant be denied. I loved the candles and all else
Good food but service needs lots of improvement. Cutlery came way after food
What the starters we had were lovely, the mains were a complete let down. The fish pie was mostly potato and the portion size rather small for the price. As an expensive main, having to buy vegetables as a side was a bit of a shock (which had to be sent back as too salty). The chicken burger was dry and even with the coleslaw very bland. And the salted rosemary fries wouldnt know salt or rosemary if slapped in the face.My local chip shop sells tastier chicken burgers at around 14 the price.A shame as last time we went it was enjoyable.*EditManager asked me to provide my details as he wanted to talk to me about my poor visit. Despite me supplying requested information, I never was contacted. Small show of how important customer service actually is....
Went here for a girls Christmas meal and food was awful! Wont be returning had 3 course I had mushroom soup that just taste like vegetable stock and salt, followed by steak and chips that came out over done and cold chips a few of the girls had burgers that were also stone cold. My coeliac friend nearly got served gluten even though she provided the information at the start. Wasnt a good night. And a waste of money.
Food was delicious, drinks were very good (tried the homemade tradesand service was very considerate (even though we didnt reserve a table on a Saturday night they managed to give us a table after 20 min). I can only recommend this restaurant.
Great atmosphere and great food. Plenty of space. However we got just plain tea for the order of earl grey even we complained the waitress that what we got wasn’t earl grey.
Nice venue and food, good service
Thankyou so much to Bills last night..we had a lovely night celebrating with family. We were a group of 8 and had been double booked at another restaurant /bar at 8pm. We had all travelled on to oxford to meet as this was a central place for us to meet. However a very helpful young lady on the phone was able to make space for us.We had cocktails and the food was great.thanks so much for making a very disappointing night a great one. Will recommend and definitely be back
Enjoyed my solo lunch here mid flat move. Relaxing atmosphere and tasty, well cooked food - the service was also top notch.
Nice atmosphere, Good food and okay price. Would recommend it!
Good food for reasonable price. I recommend for a nice breakfast!
I went to Bills on 20 April 2019 for my birthday treat with my husband who has to use a wheelchair. The people who work here were very kind and went out of their way to help us. The food was great too. My husband enjoyed a rib-eye steak and I enjoyed my fish pie. We really want to thank the staff who made my birthday enjoyable.
I went here for the meeting "new in Oxford". We could enjoy a 30% off on our dinner. Thats fine! The hamburger was really good maybe too overcooked. Location and waitress are very nice. Prices are normal. I will come back.
Very helpful and friendly staffs. Always ready to serve. The food is tasty and the price is reasonable. Just a reminder, A discretionary service charge of 10% will be added to your bill, you can opt not to pay for that. Do take a look at their dinner set menu, good value for money with a 2 courses or 3 courses meal to choose from.
Everything was lovely. The breakfast we had was yummy as well.
Amazing food caters for everyone. Great service good portion size puddings were not as great slightly lacked on presentation. Staff lovely and restaurant vibe is really buzzy and fun
I always enjoy going to Bills. The staff are all pleasant, theres a nice buzz and the food is tasty. I dont think they serve the best breakfast pancakes around but I still do really enjoy them. What I love is how big the tea pot is!!! I managed to get about 5 cups out of the pot!
Very tasty food and good value for money for the most part. My only criticisms would be the vegan Wellington didnt have enough mash with it so wasnt very filling and the beer was a bit pricey and lacking a real ale option. Other than that we enjoyed our experience and would recommend it.
We were in Oxford visiting the theatre and decided to go to Bill’s for dinner before the theatre! We asked to order our food straight away as we knew we were on a time limit. Unfortunately it took a while for our food to come out (we had to chase a few times- it wasn’t ideal, however, the way the staff handled the situation was totally awesome! Hats off to you all! I will be recommending to all of my friends and family :-)
I have been at Bills several times, with the majority of them being for brunch and only once for dinner. The service first. On none of the visits I could say that there was a bad service, the waiters and waitresses were always kind and forthcoming.Brunch has never dissapointed as both the pancakes as well as the Eggs Benedict were delicious each time I had them. Of the several beverages I had, be it normal coffee or something more exciting, everything was fine.Sadly the dinner was slightly disappointing, hence the four stars. The service was fine as always however, the steak I had was somewhat lacking. It was bad, but not good either leaving a mixed feeling after having eaten it. Now as I have only been there during one evening and tried one dish I cannot say if the dinner menu on a whole is bad, hence the reason I will not give less than 4 this time.
Good place for breakfast with great coffee and well designed interior
Our first bills. I cannot recommend enough! I have a peanut allergy so I told the waitress at the beginning of the meal. She catered to my every needs. My starter and main course came out with a stick saying “allergy”.I felt very safe going here. Not only did I feel safe eating here but the food was amazing.I had halloumi sticks as my starter and they tasted divine. Followed by a chicken burger for main, which was also delicious. Thanks to the bills waitresses and chefs
Its fantastic and has the best dessert that I ever ate in my life...a lemon pie...
Very delicious Breakfast but it was very cold in the Restaurant. Nice and fast service force.
What can i say its bills, very similar to all the others. The staff are friendly and I always like tp go there for breakfast or lunch. Its pleasant.
In short: reliable, affordable and comfortable. We ate there dozens of times with groups of varying size (2-15), and Ive only had a mixup with our order once. The staff is super friendly; drinks are rather expensive, but thats to be expected in a restaurant I think; and dishes are simple and tasty, choices available for veg/pesc/allergies and apart from a couple of exceptions (looking at you, gnocchis..), portions are good too.If you are looking for a casual restaurant where no one will be disappointed, look no further. They take reservations too.
Great food, wonderful staff, perfect place to start the day
Nice atmosphere.Great burgers and beers.Good service and nice value for money
We had a great meal here, the kids wanted a burger and rather than a large chain restaurant we headed for Bills. Kids had the three course menu for £6.95 and devoured everything. I had the set menu starting with a prawn cocktail and then the minute steak, good sized portions and perfectly cooked steak. My wife had the ancient grain salad which was also delicious (I had some as there was too much for her).Very friendly staff, quick service, lovely food.
I was the first in on a cold Saturday morning.Staff were friendly and attentive.I ordered coffee and poached eggs with avocado on gluten free toast and it was absolutely delicious. What a treat!!!Thank you.
Came here for our wedding meal. The staff were really helpful and accommodated our quite demanding needs! The food was consistently good. Being in Oxford, access for people who had to drive was a little difficult but thats not the restaurants fault! Very happy with our visit and look forward to coming back to try some other things from the menu when its just the two of us.
A great place to eat!I love the decor too.Happy, friendly service from all staff. Dealt with my menu swaps with no issues.I wanted a rare steak and received a rare steak, which is definitely a rare thing to happen these days.I cant wait to visit again.
Very nice, elegant atmosphere. Inventive drinks and food. A nice change from pub fare. They serve food late, unlike many of the pubs.
Lunchtimes are much better service compared to evenings. Recommend avoiding Saturday nights, seems to be a lot of staff not actually serving. Last Saturday we had a number of different waiters none of which were that bothered with us. Food is well over priced for the quality. The burger I had looked like it had been tipped out of a fast food carton (no garnish, and a soggy bread bun). Had to send back the lamb was over cooked and inedible. Generally disapppinting service and food. Shame as we have had some really nice lunchtime meals in the past. Will avoid in future as with new westgate there’s many more choices that offer better.
Came here on a cold snowing Saturday, had to wait 10 minutes for table but that didnt bother us (myself my son and his girlfriendwe had brunch. I had pancakes with fruit my son had pancakes with bacon and his girlfriend vegetarian breakfast. We were all satisfied. Hot chocolate was lovely so a big thumbs up from all us. And staff very friendly and helpful
It was a nice experience. We had a mezze to start to share which was a good spread, one mezze satisfied 4 of us. For main, I had Chicken Milanese which was good, nothing special but I enjoyed it. However, for pudding I had the Alaska Baked Cookie and that was legit 👌 There is nice decor and decent service. Just off the high street so wasnt too busy.
Nice meal for light lunch, it wont be enough food for someone who need to eat more. The service was a bit long. And the dessert too sweat. But it was good and anyone can find something he will like.
Awful breakfast food - tasted cheap and my vegetarian option was drowned in an artifical chili sauce. Coffee was also bad and the barista was unwell and coughing all over the drinks. The waitstaff were bothering us excessively constantly asking us what we thought of the food and drink. Was odd. Decor is nice but food was just bad quality. Not a good experience unfortunately, if you want to remember a good meal best to go elsewhere.
Beautiful vegetarian-friendly food, cosy atmosphere despite the considerable size of the building, and warm, attentive staff - we felt very welcomed and well-looked after at Bills. Another gem on our winter tour around the UK - highly recommend!
Wonderful cooked breakfast and friendly Waiter. They also had a great Gluten free menu for my wife.
It is overpriced even if it were good quality, or at least authentic, but they arent. This is not American food or American breakfast or anywhere close to it. Scrambled eggs were dry and chewy. I was excited by the bread plate but they all tasted exactly the same - like wheat flavored rocks. Given we had to wait a while to be seated and over a half hour for our food, it was such a huge disappointment. Staff was slow and standoffish. The app is super weird and I couldnt get it working, and this whole experience was just not worth it.
Great food and service. I had the 10oz steak and it was really nice. The portions were a little small tho, since the salad wasnt tasty unless you like to eat grass. My desert with strawberry and mango was LOVELY.
Lovely brunch! They even gave me a present as they notice I had a birthday badge on.
The food tasted great. Service was a little slow. Reasonably priced.
I went for dinner and had the lentils Dahl. Overall it was OK but I found that it looked better than it actually tasted. The place is nice, but I think a bit overpriced.
Amazing place ! I had avocado and flatbread, chicken paillard is delicious and chocolate fondant. Staff is very friendly and Jess is lovely ! Highly recommend it
Very nice place. I did like interior. Food as well cooked very well I would put less salad with a burger. Overall very good place
